Q. I'm looking for a great computer game that is simple, fun, and not very expensive.
A. Try
Sins of a solar empire
Star wars empire at war
Star trek armada
Star trek armada 2
Starcraft
Starcraft 2 (comming out in 2010)
I would look gameplay videos online to see these games first then buy to see if you like them.

A. There is no default program for .exe files as such.

or right click on it and select merge.

or
try to Fix it yourself

instructions on how to repair :
XP > http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
Vista > http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/File-association-fixes-for-Windows-Vista.html
Win 7 > http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/file-asso-fixes-for-windows-7/
read the notes at the top of the page for XP regardless of your system.
bear in mind it might just be the .LNK file association you have messed up.
so you might have to use that fix.
also bear in mind after applying the fix,
you will probably have to make all new shortcuts for your programs.
