Q. I am looking for a game processor, I would love to have the AMD Phenom 9850 quad core but is expensive, in comparison is this processor to much for what I need, as in is there another processor that I can get that will do what I want for cheaper. I am not an extreme gamer but almost there. Also what is the most important factor in looking for a processor?
A. in my backup machine i have the amd athlon II 250 and it runs just as good as my quad core intel chip, yet i only paid 69.99 the week it was released, i would suggest it to anyone looking for a budget build, just get you a nice video card, games built these days dont use 4 cores so as long as you have a good dual core chip,a nice video card and at least 4 gigs of ram (2 if u use xp) you can play any game at nice frame rates....... for a nice video card look into the ati 4870's or the gforce 280's
What effect will a low processor speed have on a computer game?
Q. I REALLY want the sims 3 but apparently my processor speed is to low. It needs a P4 @ 2.4 GHz and I have a Core 2 Duo @ 2.00 GHz. My video card is fine, I have 3 GB of RAM (need 1 GB), but I guess the processor isn't good enough! What effect will playing the game have on my computer/game?
A. I had the exact same problem. My processor speed is also 2.00 GHz and it runs the game just fine.
Well, you should be fine, loading and saving will take a bit longer, and if too many sims are on screen at once it could get laggy, but you should be fine.
