Which needs a faster computer to run:Autocad or 3ds Max?

Q. I know they're for different things, But I was just wondering which would need a better computer.

I've looked at the system requirements, But for AutoCad it doesn't say much. So I'd like to get some user opinion.

Specifically, I'm most concerned about the graphics card. So please take that into account too.

Also, I'm talking about comparing the 2012 versions of each, But if performance in the past is still relevant that's fine too.

Thanks.
Edit:Still take CPU, Etc into account as well

A. The only time you need 'fast' is rendering on 3Ds Max. The AMD64 Phenom-II x6 CPU is the most remarkable video rendering setup I have ever worked with and that is backed up by cpu comparision charts. 1 minute of playback video takes 1:05 processing time on the AMD with SATA drives running 7200 RPM wired with an ASUS motherboard. My AMD64 Athlon x1 takes 20 minutes to do the same video.

With 3Ds Max you have a choice in preferences whether you want the viewports to be OpenGL, or the AutoCADDY graphics library, or maybe they have added the Microsofty way by now. You add an nVidia card for vers. OpenGL 1 and vers. OpenGL 2. ATI Radeon is only supporting the OpenGL 2.0 version.

Even though ATI is AMD and one day the GPU/cpu chips may merge, I have always like nVidia because they support Linux so well. The colors seem brighter on ATI.

So, admit the machine you want will see heavy Gaming and that merits the costs of a high-end GPU card. The i7 does games better because software makers have optimized the Intel for their software.

Would you say the processor is more important for gaming? or the graphics card?
Q.

A. Gameplay is 90% about the performance of the GPU (Video card)
Any modern CPU will be able to keep up with all but the most expensive video card setups.
