What motherboard should i get for my gaming computer i am going to build?

Q. I want a motherboard that i will use to build a gaming computer I am going to build i want it to have high performance, slots available for 1 sound card and 2 graphics/video cards and to fit in the NZXT LEXA S LEXS computer case and to fit a socket to hold a core i7 2011 socket, thank you.
Also i need it to hold at least 4 sticks of RAM/memory

A. The ASUS Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard is very good and looking at what you are putting in this build you can afford it, it's about £250 ($390) or go for an ASUS P9X79 motherboard will suit you for about £200 ($310) Both suit your needs and are very good for gaming, I suggest go with the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme because it is better and also it looks very good too

What Parts Would I Need To Build A Desktop Computer?
Q. I want to build my own computer but I don't know what kind of parts I need for the monitor.

A. so far so good, my system:
newegg.com

- Intel 520 Series Cherryville SSDSC2CW240A3K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

- GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP4 TH LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with Dual Thunderbolt

- CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10

- PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 950W High Performance 80PLUS Silver SLI CrossFire ready Power Supply, ATX12V v2.2/EPS12V, 135mm double ball bearing, 20+4pin, single 12V rail, 12 SATA power connectors, SLI ready, 5.9"x3.4"x6.3", 7yr warranty

- Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000

- 250Gb western digital hard drive (WD2500HHTZ), sataIII 6Gbs, 3.5", 10,000rpm

- used stock cpu cooler , since I am not overclocking, and choose non K cpu version, for virtualization advantages in case i want windows xp mode to run older programs. ran intel processor diagnostic tool and everything passed including memory. ran win 7 memory test ok also.
- motherboard came with F3 BIOS with screen shifted to the left blocking letters, downloaded F9 BIOS and used Q-flash in BIOS to update it, so ok now. flashing is way easier than it used to be.
- set BIOS to AHCI, created partition and let windows 7 pro 64 bit format SSD to NTFS.
- used sata 3 port 0 lower for SSD and upper port 1 for my WD hard drive.
- system is quiet and boots fast. everything is snappy including internet browsing. I had like 10 browser windows open and system showed 6Gb in use ?? good thing i got hooked up with 32Gb and explains why my old laptop can not surf the internet anymore with long lags/delays/page loads.
- I needed more than 6 usb ports, so ordered this "Biostar CABLEUSB3.0 USB 3.0 Cable Bracket". also ordered some usb 2.0 card slot bracket adapters, cheap but the bracket was to big, had to hacksaw it to fit the rear panel slot. did not realize they made 2 different sizes.
- no compatibility problems encountered, mouse/keyboard/printer/power supply all worked. i'm running my mouse and keyboard off the usb2.0 motherboard connectors to a four port card slot adapter bracket in the rear. they did work in the rear motherboard usb ports also.
- I can run morrowind off the onboard graphics no problem.
- verified TRIM enable, turned off system restore, indexing, prefetch/superfetch etc. etc. Now will wait and see how the SSD lasts/performs, since it is my first.
- my new system makes my midi keyboard sound really good, using pianissimo VSTi and reaper as my DAW. My old AMD system was 5-6yrs old.
- has a pci slot which i used for my firewire card.
- stayed away from 2011 socket boards, seems like alot of problems.
- my cheap GTX 460 sonic 1024M GDDR5 256bit dual DVI w/HDMI can run all my games, skyrim full resolution. but this is the most important computer part for gaming, I just have not needed to upgrade yet.
- can't wait to get a usb3.0 or thunderbolt external harddrive to speed things up.
- weak SSD documentation, download the intel SSD toolbox program from the intel website. it will list lifetime left, and do a check on the SSD.
- could not get easytune6 to install.
- set memory profile in BIOS to XMP to get 1600 timing.

How do computer games compare to those released on PS3 and 360?

Q. I bought a gaming computer with a Gtx 460 and I-5-2500 processor... I currently am wanting to get into computer gaming but was unsure how the graphics would compare to those achieved on playstation and x box. Also besides a gaming mouse what other controllers are needed?

A. graphics wise depends on your system. pc are upgradable anytime therefore can have much better graphics than consoles. but it also depends on the games. u might want to buy a gamepad for games likes sports or third person. mouse is only good for FPS, strategy or MMO games.

What are the minimum system requirements to play current computer games?
Q. I am in the market for a new computer and I'd like something that will be able to meet the requirements for playing computer games. I'm not looking for top of the line equipment, just something that will get me by without too many problems. If anyone could give me some advice on these areas, I'd appreciate it:

1. CPU (Minimum Athlon/Intel processors to consider)

2. RAM (1 GB or 2 GB? And what type of RAM?)

3. Video Card (I need the most help with this, every computer I've ever bought seems to come up short in this area).

I'd welcome any other advice or comments you might have. Thanks in advance!

A. core 2 duo is whats good right now. no need for a quad core. p4 are still very usuable if you cant afford a core 2 duo, but it would be worth the extra investment to get it. core 2 takes less power to run and performs better especially if your multitasking.

1gb is pretty close to the min system requirements for the newer games, id go with 2gb for optimal performance.it will be ddr2 most likely

the 8 series from nvidia is the newest. with the 8800 being the top of the line. but since you dont need the best you can get a 8600gts which is what i bought for aorund $175. or the 8500 for around $75 if you look for the good deals. The 8 series cards also have directx10. if you dont have windows vista or dont plan to upgrade it tohugh you can get some of the 7 series cards that are as good as the lower end 8 series but they only have dx9. for the 7 series id get something like the 7900. also check to see if your mobo is sli rdy so you can use to video cards of the type to get even better performance.

Best gaming computer for its price and what is needed and not needed in a gaming computer?

Q. Okay i am thinking of buying a nice gaming computer but want to spend less then 700 dollars for the computer (excluding monitor) . I know to many cores are not needed and i7 is not need for gaming because hyper threading is useless in gaming and the 8 cores are also pointless. I want to know if its better to build my own or wait till black Friday and buy one? If build my own please recommend the best parts you think will be good for this price range and is easily upgrade-able (ram, more monitors on it, more then one graphics card slot ext) and where to find the parts. specific would be helpful here. Thank you for your time.

A. Hello! Last month I had also assemble my own computer and even I also wanted to spend less money on the components. To find a cheap online electronic stores I searched for various online websites and after a huge search I found an online electronic store from where I bought these components at lower prices as compare to other stores. This store is fully reliable as well as safe.

Looking into building a Gaming computer. Could I have some suggestions and an estimated ballpark for price?
Q. I am looking into building a Gaming computer. Could I have some suggestions and an estimated ballpark for price? Just give me some links, and a price with PA sales tax (6% on the dollar) Please keep it under $700 but have it be able to work on the most current games please.

A. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yIa0
$714 after rebate delivered, unless you change the power supply to the CX600 to bring it to $700
Most should not collect tax and delivery should be shown at included
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
The core i3 is a gaming tier 2
Got the graphics up to HD 7850
The lower wattage CPU (55W) and moderate wattage graphics (130 watt) plus fans and drives allowing 60 watts, means 245 watts on 12V, and 30% buffer is 318 watt target or 26.5A on a single rail.
CX600 with 3 year warranty has 46A available
The XFX with 5 year warranty and solid state capacitors is 44A
It is possible to knock a few dollars off the motherboard using a B75 one.
An Intel build allows later upgrade into an i5.
The Phenom I saw in the other build is power hungry and has no better gaming than the i3.
I chose a decent computer case, but there are others with at least 2 fans (intake+exhaust) and USB 3.0 and 2.0 on the front panel and is spacious inside.

How to stop sound from computer being high?

Q. My computer has no speakers so I use my gaming chair or earphones to listen but whatever I use the sound is always high pitched, like chipmunk style.
Please help
Thanks in advance

A. Depending on what cound card you have you might have some options for bass in "Sound" in your Control Panel. Otherwise the only option is getting either headphones (which will sound better than earphones) or just speakers.

How do I ask for a business sponsorship?
Q. I'm opening up a computer gaming cafe in August, and need help with requesting a sponsorship from companies that make things I would otherwise have to purchase for my business such as computers, mice, keyboards, chairs, monitors, etc. Anyways, for this particular company that sells gaming keyboards and gaming mice, I want to ask for a sponsorship. All I know is that, if they could provide me with keyboards and mice, then I could advertise their business everyday and especially through tournaments. I want to bring up how vast the gaming community is in my area, but exactly how do I ask them to provide me with these things?

A. About business sponsorship can be read in http://usa-people-blog.blogspot.com/?q=business%20sponsorship

How can I get a 5 star restaurant in the computer game "Restaurant Empire"?

Q. I have been playing this game for a very long time and I always suck at it. Either my service is horrible or the delivery time is too slow. I've tried absolutely everything to fix it too! But nothing seems to work. Any ideas on how to get a 5 star restaurant and maybe some ideas on a good layout design for a restaurant. Thanks

A. Service is horrible is usually caused by staff with low training. Up your training budget for a several months and that should increase the service a lot. Training is expensive, though.

As for delivery time, even if you have perfect staff, you will have terrible delivery time if your tables are too close together. I put my tables 2 together with one space for the partition and the next set of 2 tables need to be 4 spaces away. Be sure that none of the blue sections overlap! This way, you can actually serve tables on both sides of the aisle at once. Very important!!! Another way to shorten delivery time is to have two doors from your kitchen. And move the door towards the center of the restaurant space. Also, be sure that there's adequate walking space behind the chairs (2 spaces) so servers can walk behind the chairs even when someone is pulling out the chair to sit in it.

On the surface, it seems like spacing out the tables this much will decrease the number of people your restaurant can serve. This turns out to be completely untrue. When you open up the tables, traffic goes so much better so people can get their food faster (and get all the food they ordered so you actually make all the money), eat faster, move out faster. So your turnover rate shoots through the roof.

As for getting the 5 star restaurant, you gotta max out everything. Max out service with training. Buy all the exterior upgrades and decorate with the finest decorations. Put your best chefs in that restaurant. You can even remove items from the menu that are only 2 or 3 stars in quality.

Good luck!

Any tips for someone building a gaming computer for the first time?

Q. Any important things I should know or take into consideration when I build my gaming computer this may? I understand how to build a computer, but since this is my first time, what tips can any of you give me for making sure I'm careful and proper in the way I assemble it.
Thanks in advance.

A. Hi,

First consider your budget!

Buy an anti-static wrist strap and use it!!!

Decide on what you want the pc for, games or office use.

Get a 64 bit operating system and at least 8gig of ram.

A 1tb hard drive should be OK.

Make sure your power supply is man enough for the video card and all the peripherals.

Remember you may want to upgrade in the future so get a good motherboard with some expansion slots, and PCIe x 3 slot for the card.

A really good cpu with multiple cores is a must.

Don't forget the cpu cooler.

The one thing that most folk forget is a backup system, even a usb external caddy with a 1tb hard drive will do fine.

Also you will need a DVD writer.

A good sized case to fit a full sized ATX motherboard.

An uninterpretable power supply in case you get a spike or a power cut as that can really ruin your pc and your day.8-((

what are the benefits of connecting an xbox controller to your pc?
Q. just wondering, i know that you would ususally just connect it to your computer for games, but what else can you do with it?

A. basically... nothing. It's not a standard PC peripheral, so no one is developing applications for it, besides for gaming & navigating through in-game menus..

Is it worth building a new computer?

Q. I have a pc with a P4 cpu and outdated AGP type gpu. Its around 6 years old. I want to build a new rig with a e5200 and with more modern but still economically priced hardware. it should cost around $400. I don't want to dish out money for a core i7 setup yet until after college. Is it worth building a new pc around a e5200? how much better is it than the P4 i am using?

A. I would keep the P4 and

1. put 2gig pc3200 RAM in the system

2. Run Win XP Pro.

3. And get a good AGP 8x vid card.

This card will run your games pretty well.

This one is decent also.

I am a frequent player of FSX and my current computer is very bad. Can i buy an I7 proccesor on ebay.?
Q. I seen a box on ebay that was an I7 desktop for only £100. If I buy this will i be satisfied or will it not be any good.

A. Listen to Joseph ;)

The better option may be to just get a new video card as that is the likely culprit, just make sure your powersupply can handle it before you buy one. Unless you are doing heavy Photoshop or working with video an i7 is probably not what you need, an i5 or AMD Phenom II would likely handle your needs without a hitch and save you some money. Now on to the i7 subject...

The i7 is a great cpu, and you would love it. I just built an i7-950 pc... and I did weeks of research to make sure it would be reliable and reviewed every piece of equipment I was looking at, I must have changed my parts list 20 times. The equipment I went with ran me just over $1,000 (no monitor) and this is not a gaming rig so the video card is not good (yet) with a decent video card I would have spent closer to $1,150-$1,200. You could buy the parts from ebay I guess but I would not advise it (return policy? customer support?), it would be better to go with a reputable company that offers good support such as newegg, they are top notch, or tigerdirect.

If you are buying a new processor such as the i7 you will probably have to do a ground up build. The i7 chip will require you to get a new motherboard to accommodate the socket type of the cpu (socket 1366 or 1156, 900 series i7 is 1366 and 800 series i7 is 1156). The i7 is also a power hog so you will likely need to upgrade to a higher power supply. You will want to go triple channel ram for the 900 series or dual channel ram for the 800 series (2 or 3 sticks of ddr3 depending on which series you get). If your video card is old you will likely need to upgrade that as well which will increase power consumption even more meaning an even better psu (power supply unit). The heat generated by the new i7 and video card will likely be substantially more than what you are producing now... newer equipment runs hotter than old because of higher power consumption (especially when gaming) so a well ventilated case would be ideal as poor ventilation could lead to system instability and shorter life of components. If you have an old hdd (hard drive) and dvd drive they might use pata connectors and a new mobo (motherboard) may only have sata connectors so you would either need a converter (not suggested) or a new hdd and dvd drive, some mobos have both types of connectors. Then, you need an operating system... 64 bit windows 7.

Lengthy answer. In short, If you want an i7 to game with, be ready to research a ton and plan to spend around $1,100+ (US currency) if you build it yourself, spend more and get less if it's pre-built.

My Setup:
CASE-ANTEC 300 (3X120MM INTAKE/1X120MM & 1X140MM EXHAUST)
CPU-i7-950
MOBO-ASUS P6X58D-E
RAM-CORSAIR DDR3 (6GB 1600MHZ/CAS9)
PSU-CORSAIR TX650
HSF-COOLER MASTER HYPER212+ (2X120MM FANS PUSH/PULL CONFIG)
HDD-1TB SEAGATE SATA 7200RPM
VID-EVGA GEFORCE 210 (UPGRADING SOON TO GTS 450 OR BETTER)
OS-WIN7 64BIT

How to play games on my laptop on the bus?
Q. I have a 2 hour commute to work (an hour each way). Whats the best way to play my computer games without a proper gaming mouse? i can't really get a flat surface to use for a mousepad on the bus, and trying to use the touch pad is hell (especially scrolling). Any tips or ideas? Thanks!

A. Hey, its difficult to use mouse based video games while you travel in the bus. Why don't you prefer keyboard based games like, some racing games NFS!

Apart from racing games, you can also try some roaming games in the virtual environment like some rescue, pet treating, hide & seek etc,

If you're interested in such games, then I could have recommend similar games like,

Why am I starting to feel old when I play on those computer games?

Q. I was born in 1941, now I remember my son used to play on those arcade games and so I started playing with him. Well, come 2011 or so I decided to buy one of those playstation 360s or whatever they call it for myself and my grandson but whenever I get on and talk to the people online they always seem to call me old. Am I too old to be playing those computer games? I'm just enjoying what I didn't have as a child. Is that such a crime?

A. lol, "playstation 360's"... nah no one is too old, infact i think it's refreshing to hear about older people playing video games. The people giving you grief for it I'm guessing are just ignorant little kids themselves, I wouldn't take it seriously.

How much would it cost to build a decent gaming computer in 2011?
Q. I've been really wanting to build a gaming computer, but I'm not the most tech-savvy person on earth. I know I can probably do it for $1k, but I'd also like to know what components I should buy in the first place to build a pretty good gaming computer.
I already have a pretty good monitor, mouse, speakers, keyboard, etc. All I have to worry about is the tower.

A. I would say around $800 - $1000.
You can get an AMD Phenom Quad Core for around $150. You can get a Hexa core processor, if you want to be really upgrade proof. But that usually costs a lot more than the quad.
Motherboards typically cost $150 - 200. (Be sure to get a mobo that is compatible with the processor)
A decent video card that will run current games will cost you $150 - 200. I recommend the NVIDIA GTX 560.
RAM (depending on how much you want) will typically cost you $60 - 120. 6GB DDR3 is recommended.
Power Supplies will be around $60 - 100. I recommend Corsair Power Supplies, they also have a Gaming Series for gaming computers.
Case would be around $50 - 80.
Windows will cost you $100 or more.
A Hard Drive will be around $100. 7200rpm recommended. You can go for a solid state hard drive just for backups, they are around $120.
So yeah, around $900.
In the end, you will be saving LOTS of money instead of buying an Alienware.

How can I improve Gaming Graphics speed on a laptop?

Q. Hi, I'm a YouTuber and I am running off a laptop. The lag on games really gets on my nerves and I was wondering if there is a way to improve gaming graphics (3D business and gaming graphics performance) on a laptop, and do NOT suggest that I buy a new computer because gaming desktops are out of my price range. Windows Experience Index says my Gaming Graphics are rated 3.3 and Graphics in general are rated 2.2. Thanks in advance, HmanWP.

A. Nothing you can do, since video cards on laptops are part of the motherboard and can not be replaced, and there are no slots to fit a second card to.

What are good gaming desktops, that are also moderately cheap?
Q. Could anyone please point me in the right direction as to what would be a good gaming desktop, that is also moderately cheap. (Price range of around $400-500 USD) I know next to nothing about computer specs, and whats good, and whats not. Any help would be appreciated.

A. For $500 a good gaming desktop is hard to find. Here is some I found with good reviews but you can't expect a great performance:
http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&keywords=gaming%20pc&linkCode=ur2&qid=1365139813&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A541966%2Ck%3Agaming%20pc%2Cp_36%3A40000-50000%2Cp_72%3A1248879011&rnid=1248877011&tag=pingf212-20

If you could afford $600 this one is good:

What part of a computer determines the graphics?

Q. I'm looking into getting a good gaming computer but when i'm looking at the information on the computer, I don't know what part determines how good the gaming will turn out like graphics/lag

please help :) also if anyone knows a good gaming laptop under $1000 i'd appreciate some suggestions

A. For a gaming computer, most of the money should go into the graphics card. The rest of the system should be "just enough" to support the graphics card.

For a real gaming computer though, it really needs to be custom made. There's no such thing as a "real" gaming computer from a store; even from Alienware which just overprices stuff to an unreasonable extent and pushes poor quality.

It would be best to recruit your local computer store to build it for you for a fee; they can suggest parts based on your budget. Just make sure you get it off of Amazon so you can get a refund if anything is broke or doesn't work.

Also important is to take each item that they recommend, look it up, and read the reviews of it yourself. Check for any known issues, GL.

What desktop computer should i buy thats under 1000 dollars?
Q. I am currently looking for a desktop computer should I buy that's under 1000 dollars? I need a computer for desktop publishing, emailing, editing and printing photos, downloading and watching movies, listening to music, watching tv and playing video games. What features and specifications do each have?
I also need a webcam

A. for everything but the video games, any cheap 500$ comp will do it all easily. depending on the games you want to play you should consider building your own computer. you can build one with great performance for much less money if you build one.

Why is my computer not playing audio from videos?
Q. I was using a podcast kit, which is basically a microphone with a mixer and a headset, all connected through a usb, and now i dont get any audio on youtube videos or windows media videos, it works on video games and system settings, it is very confusing any help would be great.

A. You may have your computer muted or if it is a desk top with peripheral speakers (as in those you plug in) they may not be plugged in or turned on. Also, it is possible that you accidentally uninstalled a driver or media. I'd check to see if everything is functioning properly and check your connections.

How Do I Remove Scratches From a Computer Game?

Q. I pulled out an old computer game, and noticed there were a ton of scratches on the back. Is there any cheap way to take out those scratches?

A. It depends how deep seated the scratches are if they are just small scratches tooth past can work if they are deep scratches you will need to take it some where to get the scratches removed.
I pay $3 to get my discs cleaned at a local DVD hire shop and it works .

Whats the best computer for gaming that is cheap?
Q. I was wondering what the best computer for gaming is that is cheap. I already own a laptop and I really want just a laptop for gaming but I don't want to overspend on anything.
Thanks

A. Do some research and you'll find you can build your own PC for about £600, no less or it won't play games well.

What are good computer specs for online gaming?

Q. Ok so I was wondering what are some good computer specs for a good online gaming experience? games such as mmorpg's etc.
Thanks

A. Mmorpgs need a good internet connection or else it would lag when your in places wheere there's alot of people. Also a good graphics card will tremendously help. AMD5770 if your on a budget Geforce 460 for the mid-enthusiast, and 580 if your just hardcore and are willing to spend 500$ for a single card. For the CPU get ATLEAST a duo core or higher that has a high speed than 2.5 preferably. Also 4 gigabytes of ram should be enough for all games. I think that's the most important specs for a gaming computer.

How to reduce Adobe Flash memory usage in Chrome?
Q. For the past few months, I've been having a problem where the Adobe Flash plugin in Google Chrome will use almost 1 GB of memory. I am an online gamer, an example of a site I go on a lot is OMGPOP. I'll be in the middle of the game and then I'll notice a little bit of a lag, which is unusual because of my computer specs. Adobe Flash is always taking up too much memory, how do I make it so that it reduces?

A. how about a dif browser? chrome has flash preinstalled so remove and try for example firefox or opera? just a thought cos nver played games though these browsers especially ff are light and fast :)

How to buy a computer game without using a credit card or pay pal but by cash or Cheque?
Q. Is it possible to buy a computer game online whereby cash or a cheque is acceptable ? For example your are looking for a game on yahoo games and you find it . You want to buy it but neither cash nor cheque are accepted . what other means that are legal can you use to buy that game without using a credit card or pay pal or anything of the sort?

A. if it's on yahoo games and it costs to download, there's a very good chance that you can buy it at a store. try looking in a game shop or computer store. they will probably have those games. my wife wanted to download diner dash, but instead of paying yahoo like 20 bucks for it, we bought it at MicroCenter for half that.

Why is my computer lagging over PC games?

Q. When I turn on my computer and start a PC game, it doesn't lag. Later, it lags after a few minutes and it stop lagging for another few minutes. It keeps on doing it permanently. I also have low connection with Linksys Wireless. It also lags on my PC. Is it because of too much CPU or GPU? Why is it lagging for few minutes and stop lagging for few minute repeating?

A. That depends on whether you are playing games on the internet or not. If you are it just means you should get better signal.
If you aren't your computer probably cant handle the game you are playing.
Check and see for yourself at this website:

How to access pc games saved on flash drives?
Q. My dad recently took everything off my computer and saved it all to some huge flash drive called "My Passport." Before this, on my computer i had the pc game "Black and White 2" installed. It is now saved to the flash drive. Now, everytime i open "My Passport" and try to access "Black and White 2" nothing happens.

Can anyone PLEEAASEE tell me how to access and play "Black and White 2" off of the flash drive?

A. You most likely only saved the .EXE file to the flash drive.
.EXE files tell the computer how to run stuff, but don't actually hold any game files on them.

Sorry, but if you deleted everything, it would mean you deleted all the game files for Black and White 2 aswell.

How does a motherboard affect gaming on a computer?

Q. I'm kind of confused by motherboards in general. They range from $50 to $300+. What is so great that makes them over $300. Would a $50 one do for a budget gaming computer?

A. The components in the >$300 motherboards are obviously of higher quality and most gaming/high end motherboard include many more features that cheap ones such as one touch o.c, more power delivery stages, etc. While a motherboard doesn't affect the computer that much, I still suggest a mobo that costs at least $100 even if you're on a budget.

Here are a few:
Intel 1155 Z77:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_711_1183&products_id=19864

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_711_1183&products_id=19978

AMD AM3/AM3+:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1207_803&products_id=17839\

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1207_803&products_id=18040

These are Australian prices, if you live in another country, they will probably be cheaper because we have a retarded technology tax.

A. graphics wise depends on your system. pc are upgradable anytime therefore can have much better graphics than consoles. but it also depends on the games. u might want to buy a gamepad for games likes sports or third person. mouse is only good for FPS, strategy or MMO games.

why is my computer mouse going where it wants?
Q. I can't play computer games because my mouse doesn't go where I want it 2! I have changed mouse pads with the same thing still happening. It's the kind without the ball and with a red light under it.

A. lol, that happend to me but when I got a new mouse, everything was fine

Does a motherboard really have much on an impact on gaming/computer speed/performance?

Q. I'm currently shopping online to buy parts to build my own computer, and I'm having trouble picking the right motherboard. Honestly I don't have a clue what they do, and the only thing that seems to be different in the price. I'm looking to build a very nice gaming computer (more specifically, for world of warcraft) and don't know which motherboard is my best option. Does anyone know more about building computers and choosing the right motherboard for a gaming desktop computer?

A. The motherboard is very important, you HAVE to make sure that all your components are compatible with your mother board, you have to make sure the mother board will fit in your case. then there are things such as bus speed which makes difference to performance.

If this is the 1st time you are building a computer and dont have much experience i would HIGHLY recomend that you watch these series of short videos which will help tremendously

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNbEBARu6LY&feature=relmfu This is part 1 - on the side you will find parts 2,3,4, etc

It goes over all the components and how to make sure they are compatible with each other.

What could be the cheapest and best gaming computer?
Q. I play World of Warcraft all the time and just recently my desktop stopped working and kept rebooting with the same words "intel graphics driver needs to be updated." I don't deal in gaming computers, and i don't have any money, but if i were to upgrade my graphics or just get a new computer that could handle that, (WoW is the only online game i play) what would be my best bet for the CHEAPEST upgrade possible, but still have enough power to run the game perfectly?

A. If you where to get a graphics card i would get this:
Radon 6770: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102940
It's really good for the price.

How to transfer a computer game to a laptop computer?

Q. I recently purchased The Sims2 Double Deluxe computer game disc. I want to play it on my laptop but it doesn't have a disc slot. Is there anyway I can simply transfer the game's data from my PC to my laptop computer?
Thanks.
sorry, netbook.

A. If your "laptop" doesn't have a disk drive, it's not a laptop, it's a netbook. You'll need an external drive.

You can't transfer programs (a game is a program), they have to be installed.

What does it mean if your laptop continues to freeze if your are watching a movie on itunesor playing a game?
Q. What does it mean if your laptop continues to freeze if your are watching a movie on itunesor playing a computer game. My laptop keeps freezing when i am about 20mins into a movie in itunes or playing a computer game. What should i do/ what can i do to fix it?

A. It means your computer is not powerful enough to do what you are doing. Stop running so many programs/processes. Don't use Itunes, it is a huge system resource hog. I would never install Itunes on a computer. There are alternatives out there. For playing movies, I would suggest VLC. It is a more effecient program. With the games, you're sol. Clean up you computer. Read articles on increasing your computers performance.

Good Luck.

What would i need to make a great gaming computer?

Q. In terms of components. I know i need a case, hard drive, cpu and such. I mean do i specifically need? 4 gb high speed ram? Dual core processor? What makes a great gaming computer? This is my first computer and my budget is $3000, so money really isn't an issue.

A. well id say quad core cpu. heres what im building now which will run 99% of (or maybe even all) games on max settings:

Radeon HD 6950 2GB

i5-2500k @3.3ghz

COOLER MASTER HAF 912

4gb ddr3 1600mhz gskill ripjaws (2GBx 2 ram sticks) better to have 2 or 4 sticks to use dual channel memory

GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3P LGA 1155 Intel Z68

650W PSU from OCZ

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus (optional but very helpful since stock cpu fans usually suck)

and you can pick and choose for the HDD/SSD

.......i think i listed everything that im getting.

happy gaming

Q. Just graduated college and my family bought me a a refurbished HP pavilion g62-340us and we got a pretty good deal on it. I plan to primarily use this computer for photo editing on photo shop, using RAW photos and whatever from an SLR if that matters. Most new computers are ok with doing this task, but I might also play some computer games in the near future primarily diablo 3, will this computer after a year of screwing around downloading stuff will it still run these games of photoshop with music and the internet pretty well. I tried doing some research but I realized what would take me several hours to figure out pretty well, someone could read this easily and see if it works for me a lot quicker. Thanks for the help so far if anyone has an idea on the release of the new blizzard games (diablo 3) and whether this will be a sufficient graphics card not really a selling point on the computer, but something I would like to know.
-thanks

A. You won't be able to play Diablo 3 on a 4250 integrated GPU. Grab one with a dedicated video card like a 5570 / 5670 / 5770 / GTS 450 (those are common ones in big box stores)

A. that is a nice laptop, but as you are in college, the battery life is most important thing for you, usually the biiger the screen is, the lesse its battery will run.. Dont listen to the guys keep telling i3 and i3 or even i7 cpu, that sandy bridge pentium is capble of anything you accept from a laptop.
I would say a bigger screen is'nt really a benifit in a laptop when it can make your battery short and carrying it hard.. Go thru your options again and find one with best battry life/price ratio.. Good luck! :)

Whats the price for a gaming desktop capable of playing all games for several years?

Q. Super games like Crysis not included, although they finally support cheaper computers. I want to have a decent gaming desktop (keyboard, mouse, and monitor included) that will play all games that are out now well, and won't need any hardware replacements for a few years.

Can you give me a price estimate?

A. around £1000 ($1500) probably more with a good moniter etc

this will mean all games play now well and will do for years to come

personally i keep my system on the edge

what i mean by this is i upgrade one peice of hardware a year on average not including a new hdd every now and again

a good base system is a quad or hex core with 4 gigs of ram this is because ram is relativly cheap and the requirments of games in terms of processors goes up very very slowly

then you can afford to replace the graphics card once every 12 - 18 months, this is what i do it guarantees that your system can max out all games. i run a 5770hd and can max out all my games, the is no need for a 5870hd, in about 3 months time i will upgrade to a 6770 hd then next year a 7770hd and so on

with tech advancing so quick this is the way to go its every 18months something revolutionary is done in the computing world.

plus with directx 12 etc that will undoubtedly be released in the next 18months you would have to upgrade graphics card to take advantage of it and so on

What is the best desktop computer for gaming?
Q. Okay, I need a desktop computer with a large screen, an excellent graphics card, and a lot of space. But I can't spend a lot of money. What would you say is a good gaming desktop that doesn't cost too much money?
(My budget would be no more than $800.)

A. Try this computer in the link below. It's pretty good for the money, includes Windows 7 unlike some recommended setups you may see here. You can upgrade video card and it will be a perfect gaming machine. Considering that Phenom X4 overclocks like crazy/

A. graphics wise depends on your system. pc are upgradable anytime therefore can have much better graphics than consoles. but it also depends on the games. u might want to buy a gamepad for games likes sports or third person. mouse is only good for FPS, strategy or MMO games.

why is my computer mouse going where it wants?
Q. I can't play computer games because my mouse doesn't go where I want it 2! I have changed mouse pads with the same thing still happening. It's the kind without the ball and with a red light under it.

A. lol, that happend to me but when I got a new mouse, everything was fine

What would you like to see change in computer gaming systems?

Q. I recently read that the computer gaming industry is running at 30 or 40% of what they could really be. What would change this? What needs to be done to increase this percentage?

A. personally i would like to see games utilize the dual core technology more, i recently bought Doom but found it only using half of the dual core (one core only) and as its a new comp i built i am really looking for a game to test its limits.

better programmers, and people emplyed only to come up with new game ideas would certainly be a help. also more 3d games and extreme interactive technology if you can find technology to help you pet your cat if your in asia and your cats in ontario why cant you wear a suit that when you get shot vibrates in that spot?

Is a usb computer gaming headset compatible with the usb on a PS3?
Q. I am a bout to purchase a computer gaming usb compatible headset for my PS3, and I am wondering if it will work. I know there are usb headsets designed for the PS3, but this one has an audio to usb converter with it. Will it work?

A. ANY usb headset can be used on the PS3. I used my old one until I got bluetooth. You just need to make sure you activate it on the PS3 options.

Gaming Computer Price Estimate?
Q. Need a price estimate of my computer i built myself

roughly 1 year old
no problems

NZXT gaming case
amd phenom II x4 3.8ghz
8gb ram
2TB hard drive storage
Windows 7 premium
gigabyte motherboard
radeon 5970 HD 1gb graphics

software:
many games (bfs, wow, gw2)
Sony vegas 10 ultimate editing software

Im selling it as a set, with a 1080p 21.5inch HD montior, razor mamba 2012 mouse, cyborg keyboard, some speakers, and a corsair h80 headset, can i get an estimate of that also?
It has accounts and games for WOw (all expansions) gw2 account, bf3, borderlands 2, NFS most wanted 2012, saints row 3

And it is DDr3

A. Is the RAM DDR 3 or 2? I'm just going to assume 3.

I'd estimate all this at about 7-800.

Also assuming it's not coming with those games.

What is the best gaming computer under 900$?

Q. I want to get a good gaming computer that can handle sc2/hots in mid-high setting. Where can i get it?
I live in usa btw.....

A. It is Christmas pricing, and pcs seem to be marked up now.
The game does not release until March. Any guess on performance needs is just a forecast.

The recommended requirements are not that high.
This cheap ($500) Acer is interesting:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7375900&CatId=2627
It has a lot of good and bad about it.
Very Good: i5-3450
Pretty Good: HD 7570
Very Good: a 2TB HDD
Good: 8GB RAM
Good: Case width is pretty normal. It may fit a normal ATX power supply whenever looking for a graphics upgrade
OK: Acer brand.
Good: Wireless included
Excellent: Price - building it from parts is about $600
Good: Gigabit Ethernet
Not good: Some issues reported with the graphics and may need warranty service, SATA II apparently as it must use an H61 motherboard, USB 2.0 only,
Shows at mid-high settings:

The Avatar brand seems to be made of high quality parts. Newegg has a few offerings.

Avatar Gaming A1077 Desktop PC A10-Series APU A10-5800K(3.8GHz) 16GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity XFX R7770 1G Windows 8 64-Bit.
Nice computer case. CPU quite adequate; as near an Intel i5, lots of RAM in the proper 1600 speed, HDD in SATA III, an XFX brand HD 7770, 650W, 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply, using a logitach mouse and keyboard.
Of course, you can build your own cheaper using pcpartpicker, com and a few youtube videos, and some precautions about parts handling, with newegg running a free 8GB memory special on some decent motherboards.
You can cut the $800 to $650 with a similar performance, but really weak quality set of parts with this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227443
GTX 650 is not far below the HD 7770:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/681?vs=536
This at your $900 and change for shipping is good specifications:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227453
iBUYPOWER Gamer Supreme NE703SLC Desktop PC Intel Core i5 3570k(3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB SATA III HDD Capacity AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB Windows 8 64-Bit bluray combo drive. NZXT Phantom 410
The motherboard is nothing special, and component brands should be weak other than the nice case and CPU, but HD 7850 really is a nice GPU. The power supply is really a bare minimum, suject to future issues na dreplacement. And delivered, leans over your budget.
Both the Avatar system and this iBuypower HD 7850 max out your game.
The 7850 will strongly outdo an HD 7770:

There are many other choices, but I suggested a few of the more interesting ones, and give you some evaluating web sites.

What is the best gaming computer company or gaming computer thus far?
Q. Looking for a gaming computer, something 1500 or under. Was also wanting to hear other recommendations of what the best gaming computers that are available in the market. I also am interested in the names of computer companies or what company you consider to be the best at developing gaming computers, and their hardware.

A. The best gaming computer company is you, inc. I mean, why let someone else build it for u. Granted you may not be at that stage and may not have that confidence.

If you spend over 1k on a computer, I think you're over paying.

As far as companies - hardware is pretty much generic, at least for major manufacturers of average computers. If you want good names, you have to pick the parts yourself, and unless you build it yourself, you usually don't have much control over which components you get.

Right now, intel has the best upper mid / high end processors (and I say this as someone going to be building an AMD gaming pc very soon - but its a $~500 parts machine that would retail for ~900-1000 - though I do recycle a few unimportant parts from an older pc).

Asus makes the best videocards (for Nvidia Models and AMD models, they do it all with some massive heatsink technology) and the best motherboards (though I wouldn't have an issue with an MSI or a Gigabyte motherboard, and Sapphire makes good reference AMD cards). Cases are a matter of choice and taste. Kingston and crucial make reliable ram. Seasonic, Corsair, and (some) Antec PSUs are some of the best.

Even with so called gaming computers you're stuck with a few mystery components and a lack customization over anything (like choice of video card(s) ).

So yeah, if you want the best, you have to build it yourself. Because no one is going to build it for you to your budget. There's at least 40% mark-up, if not more (though you do save on Windows if you choose to buy from a big company).
