Ideas for a computer gaming powerpoint presentation?

Q. I'm doing a powerpoint presentation that has to be 15 slides all about computer gaming. I've only gotten 8 slides so far and I've basically covered the types of PC games (RPG, FPS, MMO, MMORPG), the parts of a gaming computer and the peripherals and then lots of tips to speed up your computer so it's good for gaming.

Any other ideas for things I can put in this? I still need 7 slides :\ Any ideas at all? All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A. examples of the game categories, lots of cool pictures, maybe a youtube clip showing some game footage or something, just expand your ideas.

I'm trying to make my computer the fastest it can be. What upgrades would you suggest?
Q. I'm getting a job soon, and I want to upgrade my computer to make it even faster than it is. It currently has an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor that clocks at 2.4 Gigs per core. I use an NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT Vid card, a 500GB SATA Drive, and 2GB of RAM. Plus, anyone know of good gaming peripherals, keyboards, mice, etc?

A. More RAM for sure. Your CPU's power is getting bottlenecked by lack of RAM. When the RAM is in, your next point would be to think about RAID arrays to speed up your Hard Drive(s). Then your graphics card if you are into hardcore gaming. The RAM will help, as well as RAID-0.

Good luck!

Do intellectual property laws apply at all across international borders?

Q. I recently read an article about a Brazilian computer game company copying an American computer game company's products in a clear and consistent manner. But does the American company have any remedies? The companies' products are mostly or completely through facebook, so it would seem that the Brazilian company does not have an entity in America, rather it can operate remotely, in Brazil, and American consumers navigate the web to them. There are no physical goods and therefore no need to have subsidiaries across the border. Does this sort of thing fall under our trade agreements?

A. No. International copyright does not exist. It is Country by Country.

What type of business should I start?
Q. I figured I had three choices, more so wondering what is the most lucrative and easiest to start.
1. Digital Sinage Company (Idea to use the technology and sell it to bars)
2. Consulting Firm (Possibly Advertising)
3. Computer Gaming (Software) Company
4. Financial Firm (Current Stockbroker)

Thanks!

A. I would do computer gaming for the following reasons:
1. There is a huge customer base for almost any kind of game or gaming addon
2. You can start small by doing simpler gaming addons then expand to doing parts of games with other groups or an entire game on your own
3. There are a lot of tutorials and free programs such as GMax with which you can quickly begin making games and gaming addons
4. By finding some good vendors you can have them make installers and license keys for you so that you can release your product faster
5. Small gaming companies constantly merge with other groups which is a great way to be able to make even more great products
6. Almost as soon as you release your product (depends on how often your vendors send payments, some do it once a week, others once a month) you will start seeing income right away
7. With many of the skills you learn from this you can do contract work as well (For example, I do gaming addons for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, but with what I have learned from making addons I make twice as much every month doing simple side jobs such as setting up new flight dynamics, setting up websites, consulting as a paid beta tester, and assisting in the development of advertising videos)

I hope this helps with your decision

Ideal Desktop Computer System Configuration for Software Development?

Q. Hi all. I'm From India, & I have recently started a new business, a software company. We work on technologies such as Java, .Net for developing desktop application, and PHP, JSP for web. I'm planning to set up a lab with at least 15 computers. All I want to know what is the Ideal Desktop Computer System Configuration I should go for?

like what motherboard - processor
RAM
HDD size & speed
and all other related stuff I should buy?

Please Help!
Many Thanks!!!
:D

A. hi pam
well for starters your best looking for a quad core processor ( minimum ) with 16gb of ram .... and storage is essential with a business so a 2tb hard drive is recommended ....
that's the core components however for software development you don't want a graphics card aimed at gaming ... instead you should be looking at either NVidia quadro or AMD fireGL .... these are designed to run more serious applications such as cad and java and would be ideal
however with 15 computers needed for your lab you need to keep costs low but still have plenty of power for your work
and with all 15 pc,s needing to be connected (networked ) you need to ensure any lan(local area network ) adapter is up to the job .... infact it may even be worth buying a dedicated network card such as a intel nic which cost around £25 ... don't use wireless especially when running a business as it wont be as secure as it should be
ive looked around for a good base system that's not too expensive and ive found a good pc in the shape of the "HP 600B MT Desktop + Monitor"( http://www.ebuyer.com/510199-hp-600b-mt-desktop-monitor-d5s03ea-abu ) .. for just £359 you get a decent pc with a ivybridge Pentium G2020T .. and 4gb of ram and a 500gb hard drive
theres intel HD graphics however this can be upgraded at anytime if you find you need more graphics processing power .. a card such as the "PNY Quadro NVS310 "( http://www.ebuyer.com/394231-pny-quadro-nvs310-pci-express-x16-512mb-gddr3-64bit-low-profile-card-vcnvs310dvi-pb ) is relatively inexpensive and would improve the intel onboard solution
granted you could buy a core i7 based pc with 16gb of ram .. however when your buying 15 this would be extremely expensive and the above pc would be more than capable of running java based apps and PHP
at the end of the day its about cost .... obviously you will be borrowing capital to start your business so the less you spend the less you lend and thus any loan is payed earlier and then your business will start to see handsome profits
the above pc is good as it has decent specifications and the included monitor will also keep costs down ..... but if you have monitors already then you may want to check out the "Fujitsu Esprimo E410 SFF Desktop"( http://www.ebuyer.com/509526-fujitsu-esprimo-e410-sff-desktop-vfy-e0410p5511gb ) which is based around a powerful core i5 3330 ... this along with 4gb of ram and a 500gb hard drive is a solid foundation ... and windows 7 Professional is included also along with a windows 8 license ..
finally you may want to look for pc retailers who deal specificly with business customers .. these guys can sell you bulk purchases were you can save money ...... companys such as misco ( http://www.misco.co.uk/ ) are great and have pc,s aimed at new businesses ... worth checking !
I hope this helps pam ...any questions let me know, and good luck with your new business
all the best !

Buying a computer on a budget, what specs are good for a gaming computer now or in the near future?

Q. My budget is $750-$1000. What specs should I look for in a decent gaming computer, that will run most(if not all) of today's games smoothly?

A. The most important component of a gaming computer is the graphics card- that's where to splurge. You get more bang for your buck by spending an extra $50 on your GPU, instead of your CPU.

For future-proofing the best route is Core i7, but that's not really the budget route since the CPUs and RAM are more expensive.

For most games right now, a high-clockspeed dual-core CPU performs better than a lower-clockspeed quad-core. They're also better on your budget because they cost less. And those savings translate into a better graphics card or more RAM.

Where the quad-cores really shine are in movie editing, 3D modeling and rendering apps and really heavy multitasking- not so much for games. Their performance boost is minimal compared to what you'd gain from other upgrades.

A Core 2 Duo E8400 combined with a GTX 260/Radeon 4870 is very doable within your budget. Also consider going with an AM3 socket system instead of Intel socket 775.

Here are the $650 and $1250 gaming builds from Tom's Hardware- since you're smack in the middle, I'd suggest using either as a baseline and then upgrading/downgrading. Right now a pair of Radeon 4770 cards in Crossfire are undisputed performance kings of the $220 price point.

What are some good affordable gaming computers?
Q. I am looking to get a gaming computer. I am currently on a computer that doesn't support the games I play very well. I'm looking to upgrade to a pretty decent gaming computer but I don't want to spend a lot of money on it. The games that I play are mainly Team Fortress 2, Minecraft (which I run a bunch of mods on) and games like that. I also run video editing software. I need to know what type of gaming computers will run these games very well without any lag. I want a good computer but don't want to spend upwards amounts of money. Please let me know what type of gaming computers I could get.

A. In a medium price range ($400 - $700), you can easily get a HP or Gateway/Acer desktop with a quad core processor (both AMD and Intel i5 or stronger), 4GB to 8GB of RAM, 250 to 1TB hard drive and a medium graphics card of 1GB memory.
Laptops are always more expensive than desktops so a laptop with aforementioned specs should cost about $600 - $750.
You should check BestBuy's or NewEgg's sites, they have a lot of different models. Or you can choose to buy a refurbished desktop (BestBuy available) which is about $100 cheaper than a new one.

What things do you have to do in order to maintain a gaming PC?

Q. Just wanted to know I'm getting a new gaming PC and I don't know much about them.
Oh and that means hardware to do I have to open it up every month and clean it or something?

A. Have your PC free from dusts from time to time --- accumulated dusts causes the PC to heat more especially those dusts that are stuck in the heat sink and cooling fans of the PC.

Monitor your hardware's temperature --- use a software called 'Speccy'. It will monitor your PC for you and it's free. Temperature is very important, if left unnoticed it could burn your computer's hardware, literally.

Defrag your hard disk and registry from time to time --- software within the PC sometimes leave some clutters in the system which when accumulated could slow down the PC. It's best having some software like CCleaner, Perfect Optimizer, and the likes in your PC. Those software could clean the PC off of some clutters.

Protect your PC from malicious softwares --- install the best anti-virus software in your PC. The better the anti-virus software is, the more secure your PC is from malicious softwares. I, personally use BitDefender 2011 and Microsoft Security Essentials. Microsoft Security Essentials is free, while BitDefender 2011 requires you to buy it, but it's worth it. I was using the previous version of these two anti-virus software and I could really say that it protected this PC for months. And for that I am thankful to the people behind these two software.

Scan your PC from malwares and viruses from time to time --- there are still some sneaky malwares and viruses that could get into your PC from time to time. Full scanning the PC could detect them and remove them off the system.

How to fix my second monitor from shifting the full screen video?
Q. I have dual monitors, and when I try to run a fullscreen game like Skyrim or Sims 3 on my main monitor while I have any internet screen running on my second monitor, the internet window becomes shifted a few inches to the right, and off the screen. Is there any way to fix this problem? I've been dragging the window a few inches to the left to offset it before I open the game, but would love to fullscreen on both monitors.

A. Hello, If you want the display to be just on one screen, you will need to go to your computers' Display Settings which can be accessed by right clicking on your desktop and personalize your display or through the control panel->Appearance and Personalization-> Display. In the settings, for the multiple display option, select "Display desktop only on 1" or "Display desktop only on 2" depending on which monitor is 1 or 2. Here are some websites that will help.

While using computers what tips are suitable to youngsters to avoid backaches and strained eyes?
Q.

A. Lots of screen time? Good posture helps
With young people spending hours a day on computers and other e-devices, experts offer tips to avoid backaches and strained eyes.

By SUE STOCK, Charlotte Observer

Last update: March 11, 2011 - 10:33 AM

For today's students, life is all about staring at a screen. ¶ They spend hours doing homework, playing games, chatting with friends, reading books and just hanging out -- all on computers, smart phones and e-readers or tablets. ¶ And doctors say they're starting to pay the price: in eyestrain, neck pain and wrist aches. ¶ "Kids have a limited degree of awareness, so they'll just play and play until they're exhausted," said Patricia Smith of Triangle Eye Physicians in Raleigh, N.C. "You've got to parent up and limit the amount of computer time."

But that's not always easy. The portable nature of most of those devices makes policing online time a challenge.

Tiffany Edwards of Apex, N.C., said she thought her 14-year-old son, Torin, spends two to three hours a day on his electronic devices, which include a computer, an iPhone and the iPad he got for Christmas.

Ask Torin, however, and he said it's closer to five hours a day.

He's starting to have some neck pain, but he doesn't think it is related to his iPad. His mom, however, is not so sure.

"I notice it through the day, him just wiggling his neck around trying to relieve some of the pain and things like that," she said. "I don't know what the solution is. It's not like they're not going to use the devices."

On that they can agree. Torin says he's not going to scale back his computer use.

But doctors say that talking about online time and setting boundaries is important because too much time staring at a screen can cause health issues -- particularly on children's eyes and backs.

Here are some tips to avoid problems:

Make sure your child is viewing the computer at his or her own height. A child sitting at an adult's desk will be looking up at the screen. This exposes more eye surface, increases the rate of blinking and can lead to eye fatigue more quickly.

Take note if your child is complaining of dry or itchy eyes. Sometimes kids can develop "dry eye syndrome" from staring at a screen and not blinking enough.

Watch for excessive eye rubbing. Kids who are heavy eye rubbers can actually damage their corneas.

Make sure that when your kids take breaks, they are not simply moving to another screen-related activity, like watching TV. Encourage them to go outside, play a game or do something else that does not involve a monitor to truly give their eyes a break.

Find a chair that supports the lower back and sit up straight.

Is it possible in Windows to have two separate keyboards with different inputs?

Q. I am trying to use two keyboards on my computer, one regular one and a separate, modified one for gaming. However, while playing games I want (for example) the A key on the game keyboard to have a different function then the A key on the typing keyboard. Is this possible? Can I make Windows recognize the gaming keyboard as something other then a keyboard? Thanks ahead of time!

A. not really since it will both keyboards as one. its faster to just remap the game and configure it so you have it set to what you want for your gaming keyboard.

How do i fix F4 key that is permanently active on my keyboard?
Q. I have Logitech G15 gaming keyboard. The key is automatically active whenever i start the windows and its annoying because making the address bar to pop out even i want to browse folders and internet. There is no macros active. Already tried with other computers, the same problem arise.
How can i fix this F4 key?

A. It sounds like that key is stuck. There are two ways to fix it, I think. The best way would be to disassemble your keyboard and pop out the F4 key and clean around that area, as well as around your other keys.

Quick and easy (lazy) way is to just remap that key... There are free utility programs that will assign different functions to different keys... and I think you can also remove anything that's normally assigned to a key as well... the only problem with that is... you will no longer have that function... but most people don't even use the function keys anyway... unless they need them to enter the BIOS on boot... but the mapping program would only become active during windows...

How do i learn and become a computer / video game programmer?

Q. I am a junior in high school and love video games. I am very precise and work well alone. For all these reasons i am interested in possibly pursuing a career in computer / video game programming. But first i need to learn how? I would love any suggestions on maybe a good online class i can take to get me started. Then ideas on how to make it my career. What would be the best way to get a job as a programmer? and how?

A. For one, I recommend AGAINST Eli's advice. You will not learn game programming by using the "Easy Routes". If you want to be able to make memory efficient, fast, satisfying games you should look into other methods. (If you ever want to be anything but a hobbyist programmer you HAVE to learn actual programming. Good luck getting a job if your resume only includes "Unity3D" ;D)

My Recommendation:
1: Learn a programming language (C and/or C++)
2: Learn the Windows API (Mainly for tools creation, but minimally for game programming)
3: Learn a Graphics API (DirectX and/or OpenGL)
4: Make EASY games until you are comfortable with the languages/APIs and how they work together (This will teach you the fundamentals of your programming language and graphics API of choice, how they work together, and teach you game related devices required for larger projects such as handling the game loop. This will also make learning to write proper code easier to learn because the scale of the game will be smaller, and therefore easier to manage)
5: Keep creating programs and/or games that are of your skill level, with a few newly added features. Introduce yourself to new topics slowly. Successfully creating a Pong clone is going to aid you a LOT more than failing to create a successful MMORPG.
6: If you enjoy programming, enroll in a college for Software Engineering/Computer Science. Make sure they have classes for Object Oriented Programming and things like that. If you learned a language already in High School, you will have a head start on college, so either way it will be beneficial to start now.

Also, you must work well as a team as well as alone. If you join a game company you will be working with a team and most likely working on code you did not even initially create. Blizzard didn't create World of Warcraft by paying only one man, you know! If you want to be a one man team you will need to expand your knowledge incredibly. You will need to learn how to create, rig, animate, texture models... how to create sound effects, background music... how to program the game (which seems to be what you are after)... and MUCH more. (Nothing is impossible, but as a one man team you will need to rely on releasing Indie games and hope they do well. If they do, you could be a rich, rich human being! If they don't, you might want to sign up for food stamps!)

Good luck! It's actually a lot of fun aside from chasing bugs and memory leaks, but you will not care when you have a finished project. It's just so satisfying ;D Just never forget, technology is swiftly evolving, and Game Programming is like playing a musical instrument. You are never "Finished learning".

PS-
Look into C++ Primer Plus Fifth Edition. It's a great book to learn C++.
As for IDE's to start developing with? It is completely your decision but I recommend Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition OR Bloodshed Dev-C++. You only need one, and Visual Studio is far superior, but Dev-C++ is sufficient until you get into programming graphics (Learning C++ initially will be Console Window based, and therefore a bare-bones IDE will suffice)

Q. Does anyone remember the name of an old computer video game where there is a guy who jumps up levels of bricks, ice, and ever changing floors and the floors get smaller and smaller? If he falls, you lose the game and you must stay on top. It usually has a lot of rainbow colors and graffiti text. The guy is also spinning as he jumps up high and a trail of stars follow him. Thanks for any help.

A. Haha, icy tower...fun game.

What are the attributes of a good computer?

Q. I plan on purchasing a computer soon.I was hoping someone could give me some good things that a computer would have.(Like the amount of GB's,the ram,the type of processor,etc...)I was hoping for something under 500 dollars. I appreciate music, typing in different languages and playing alot of games.I also want something that will last a while. Thank you for all the suggestions!

A. If your going for under 500, good luck. I'd recommend a 8800gt (150-225) for your vc, at least 4g of ram, and at least a AMD Athlonx2 6000+ processor. This might already be going over 500. But if you want something to last for awhile, you will have to go over 500 since what i said goes over andd oesn't leave much for the MoBo, case, drives, etc..

what kind of gaming computer is best for a 500 budget?
Q. i am look to build or buy a gaming computer for under a budget of 500 dollars. I know nothing about computers but I want one because of the low costing games and the high graphics. What would you parts or computer would you recommend and are there any videos on how to make the computer if need and thanks for the help

A. There are plenty of videos on building computers, just search youtube. For the parts, I'd recommend a Core i3 2100 CPU, a Geforce 400 series or Radeon 5000 series for the GPU, About 4 GBs of RAM, ~500GB of hard drive space, a 500 Watt or so Power Supply, good DVD burner, Raidmax cases are pretty good, and for the motherboard, just pick something that matches the rest of your choices.

How to put old PC games on the computer?

Q. I have a Nancy Drew game I want to play, but it's old. It's from 2000. I set the set-up under Windows 2000 and tried to install it, but it won't. Also, the disk of the game only shows set up icons and the information of the game, it doesn't show up as the game. What can I do to play the game? Thanks!

What is a good gaming computer?
Q. I am looking into purchasing my first gaming computer. I don't really know what exactly to look for but do I have my eye on the Alienware X51. I want something dependable and powerful for under $2000 if possible. I want something with some sort of warranty as well. I don't want to build the computer myself because I don't know enough about them. Also I don't trust myself enough with building one, so please don't suggest I learn how. I really just want to know an affordable and fairly good pc.

A. Ok as any computer gamer and the first thing they will tell you is do not i repeat do not get alienware. Don't get me wrong alienware x51 is a very nice computer but way way way way overpriced because you're essentially paying for a brand name and a nice case. If people say ebay do it at your own risk.

You don't want to build a computer that is totally fine. With a under $2000 you can get a beast gaming rig that will definitely last you a while and play all the latest games on max.

My recommendation? check out newegg, ibuypower, cyberpower for already pre-built gaming desktops that look much better than alienware desktops, have better internal parts and in the end cheaper. Now with $2000 you can almost get any computer of your choice from those three websites chosen.

What does it mean if your laptop continues to freeze if your are watching a movie on itunesor playing a game?

Q. What does it mean if your laptop continues to freeze if your are watching a movie on itunesor playing a computer game. My laptop keeps freezing when i am about 20mins into a movie in itunes or playing a computer game. What should i do/ what can i do to fix it?

A. It means your computer is not powerful enough to do what you are doing. Stop running so many programs/processes. Don't use Itunes, it is a huge system resource hog. I would never install Itunes on a computer. There are alternatives out there. For playing movies, I would suggest VLC. It is a more effecient program. With the games, you're sol. Clean up you computer. Read articles on increasing your computers performance.

Good Luck.

Cheers,

Is it bad to play a computer game while my laptop is charging?
Q. I have a MacBook Pro laptop and it charges much much slower when I play my computer game, The Sims 3, and charge it at the same time. I have only done this once or twice, but I wonder if it is bad for my computer and if it will make the battery life shorter?

A. the reason it charges slower is because you are using some of the power that is being charged into while it is being charged. i use my laptop all the time when it is charging and nothing bad has happened yet.

How can I get my autistic brother to listen to me?

Q. I love my little brother to death. He's an autistic 11 year old. I would do (almost) anything for him.

I've been dealing with this for about a year now. He's a computer addict. That may or may not have to do with the autism. He sits at a desk, playing computer games for about 9 hours a day. Ever since this started, he won't listen to me at all. For example, last night, it was... I'd say about midnight. I asked him to turn his TV down and he said no. I explained to him that it's keeping me awake and I have to be up early for band rehearsal. He told me to shut up and go away. It got to the point of me screaming at him and telling him to "fucking go to sleep" and unplugging his TV. I understand that this (probably?) has a lot to do with my yelling. How can I have get him to listen to and not disregard me?

A. Autistic people are not oriented towards language but instead may communicate in other ways such as with pictures or sign language. His brain is more inclined to respond to visual prompts. My answer may not however resolve the issue with your brother watching the tv loud. He may be open to negotiation with the tv if he wore headphones instead. Having a day/night timetable of on & off times for the tv could also be of assistance.

Where can I find a site that would help me Make a blue print for a computer desk I want to build?
Q. I want to make the computer desk of my nerdy dreams and I was wondering if there is any web site that can help me make it very very easily. My dad can draw them himself by hand but doesn't have the time and told me if I drew up the plans he would use ONE DAY to help me build it then I am on my own. Also, I can't draw at all. My stick people look horrid. Help me out people.

A. I don't think there is a website to do that. I wouldn't worry about drawing too much. You must first make your desk physically possible. I would look at where you want your tower and monitor and then what speaker set you need to fit in there. Then you can look at keyboard and mouse setting and possible game pad storage and then some place for the software boxes, DVD or otherwise.

I would start by putting a chair down and then place out all the items around it just the way I like. If it was me I would build it into a corner and then have a bean shape in which to place the chair. That way I can place the speakers to get maximum sound effect. Then it is easy to mount the speakers on brackets on the wall and fit corner shelves and other shelves to store boxes books etc.

Next I would try and figure out what shape the top must be. Then you can go further and join a few sheets of paper together and draw out the shape. Then you draw out the shapes you need to all the other components. I would get pipe and some threaded rods to hold up the sections. You get stainless steel and aluminium that will look really nice. You cut the pipe to the length that will give you the desired height and then drill holes in your top sections and the top. Then fit in the pipes sliding the threaded rods through and then use the decorative nuts on top to tighten it and make it look smart. In the same way you can make multiple tiers by using shorter pipes.

Try and make it simple without drawers so that you can actually build it.

I would fit the tower between my legs and put footrests on the sides of the base to put my feet on so that I can kick back on my chair and play on the game pad.

What is technological enabled telepathy?

Q.

A. Recent BCI toys like those developed by NeuroSky have brought real life telepathy to the general public. The MindFlex made by Mattel in collaboration with NeuroSky was even ranked in Time Magazines top 100 toys of all time . In this game the player floats a ball by concentrating on it; an electroencephalogram is used to judge the persons level of concentration through direct measurement of the electrical activity in their brain, this headset then communicates with a platform controlling the speed of a fan and thus the ball.

In 2011 a Guinness Book of World Records category was created for BCI based telepathy. The NeuroSky MindWave was awarded it for the, “Heaviest machine moved using a brain control interface”.

Futurists think that brain-computer interfaces may make telepathy possible. There has already been progress in connecting brains with machines, and a man-machine-man bridge is considered very possible. And if man-machine-man bridges can be made, then such a link can be achieved over great distances using Internet.

Technologically enabled telepathy is also called "techlepathy," "synthetic telepathy," or "psychotronics."

Some people, occasionally referred to by themselves or others as "transhumanists", believe that technologically enabled telepathy is a technology that humans should pursue in order to improve themselves.

Kevin Warwick of the University of Reading, England is one of the leading proponents of this view and has based all of his recent cybernetics research around developing technology for directly connecting human nervous systems together with computers and with each other. He believes techno-enabled telepathy will in the future become the primary form of human communication.

This fall, the Force can finally be with you — for a suggested retail price of $129.99. Put on a headset, focus on a small ball in a cylinder, and use your mind to make the sphere rise. It's cool, not to mention a little strange.

Stranger yet, Uncle Milton's Force Trainer wasn't the only levitational gadget at this year's American International Toy Fair, the four-day trade show that brings a gazillion manufacturers and retailers together every February in New York City. Also on display was Mattel's new Mindflex, which has players move a tiny foam ball through a mini–obstacle course with their thoughts. Or, more precisely, with their brain waves. (See the best toys from the 2008 American International Toy Fair.)

Both toys employ EEG, or electroencephalogram, technology. EEGs measure electrical activity in the brain and have been used to diagnose seizures, assess head injuries and explore sleep disorders, among other functions. In other words, the science behind these toys is legit; there's no magic trick involved. "The fact that you can use EEG, that you can modulate it, that you can control it — it's well known, it's true," says Dr. Ronald Emerson, a neurology professor at Columbia University. Upon hearing about the new toys, his colleague Dr. Catherine Schevon said, "Our fellows would go ape for this!" (Read "Learning More About Levitation.")

Each toy includes a wireless headset equipped with forehead and ear sensors that read two kinds of brain waves — alpha and beta, naturally — then relay signals to the bases of the toys, triggering fans that cause the balls to rise. Mindflex's headgear comes with earlobe clips, which significantly increase the I-look-like-a-fool factor. The game requires players to move the ball sideways as well as vertically. There's a knob on the base unit that players must turn (the old-fashioned way, with their hands) while focusing to get the ball, for example, through a tiny hoop. At the toy fair, a Mattel spokesperson joked that Mindflex requires "mind-eye coordination."

Just think of it as a drinking game, an onlooker said during the Mindflex demo at the toy fair — which, irony of ironies, does not allow any kids inside. The $79.99 game, like Uncle Milton's Force Trainer, is intended for ages 8 and up.

Does anyone remember the character Lance Boyle from the MegaRace computer game in the 1990's?

Q. It's been like 15 years, and I'm still quoting him. Whoever wrote his script was a genuis. It was just a random computer game we bought too.

A. I do remeber the game and I used to think the host was the dude from the b52s.

Just the other day I was thinking about this game and couldn't remeber it's name.

Why some of the students around the world are now hooked in computer games and pornographic sites?
Q. 90 out of 100 students are now hooked in internet set aside of the reason that they have to research because most of the time they are fond of computer games.Instead of buying foods in their money they spend it all along to internet cafes. They don't think about their studies. So,how can we prevent them from addictness to be a formal person. You know what I mean.

A. I would love to know your source for 90% of students being addicted to the internet (or does "hooked in" mean "have access to"?).

I would like to mention that having an internet connection does not automatically mean that a student (or anyone else for that matter!) is looking at pornography, or playing video games.

That fun disclaimer aside, our society as a whole has been turning away from personal interaction for decades. I would like you to consider what mass media did for the world: It told us what was going on in the world. In order to find out what's going on in the world, we had to sit there and listen (radio) or watch (movie newsreels, television). This started us on a path of being listeners, but not active listeners. We could not ask questions of the radio, TV or newsreel, because it was not a live person in front of us!

All over the world, community and connectedness have become fragmented because we live in a world that is increasingly angled toward convenience and speed. Garage Door Openers prevent neighbors from talking because you don't have to get out of your car. Takeout meals mean you don't have to talk to your waiter/waitress. Grocery Self-Checkout means you don't have to make small-talk with the clerk. Shopping on the internet eliminates the "no thanks, I'm just browsing" in a store.

My point (though drawn-out) is that we are missing community, and many people who are intensely focused on computers do so because they find a different kind of community there. We do not have casual social interaction in many societies now, but there are substitutions for community in many social groups and interactions online through games, gaming, and social networking sites.

If you want to prevent your child from being addicted to gaming, then give them a community and foundation with real people. Pay attention to them at home, take them to events outside the home in the community, give them a stake in their community and promote volunteerism. It may sound goody-goody, but if there is a balance between real and virtual, it will be a lot easier to walk away from the computer when it's time to deal with real-world responsibilities.

What processor would you recommend for intense gaming?

Q. I enjoy a fast computer and want a fast processor for gaming, video editing etc. I really like AMD processors but i would like a fast processor that is under around $175

A. It depends on how fast you want your processor to be and how demanding th game are that you want to be able to play. For $175 you wouldn't be able to get a fast processer but you could get a normal one. If you want a really fast processer for the most demanding games you would be looking at $500 +

Hope I helped :)
Happy new year! :D

What makes a good gaming and video editing laptop?
Q. I am going to college in the fall, so I am in need of a good laptop. According to my parents, it is inevitable that I will be getting a PC around $1,000-1,500. I would prefer HP with Windows 7.

Anyways, I want a laptop that would not only run games well, but also run video editing software well. I want to play games like "Minecraft" and other Steam games on high settings without much lagging. I am going to get Adobe Premeire Pro for video editing.

I now that I need a good dedicated graphics card (ex: NVIDIA) for the games, but that's about it. So, what specifications do I need to look for in a good video gaming and video editing laptop?

Thanks!
@TheTurtleGuy: I'd like to have Alienware, but their laptops are WAY too expensive. And like I said, my parents can only give me a laptop around $1,000 to $1,500. Thanks for your answer, though.

A. Elements of both a good gaming and video editing laptop are quad core cpu, a decent amount of ram (8gb or 16gb recommended), a high end gpu (depending on resolution).

CPU - i7 intel (the mobile i5 cpus are dual core cpus with 2 additional threads)

GPU -
1366x768 resolution max settings - Radeon HD 7850m or Geforce GTX 660m or better (30-40fps+)

1920x1080 max settings - Radeon HD 7970 or Geforce GTX 680m or better (25+fps)

EDIT: Geforce GTX 650m is also good for 1366x768 if you don't mind scaling back some settings like antaliasing or play at 1080p and cut back on antialiasing and some details.

Use this chart to help you pick.

Highlight the games you want to play and go from there.

-------------------------

Btw, although Alienware is solid its very overpriced.

Edit: The dell costs $400 more than the cyberpc similar specs.

Heres a laptop that costs almost the same as Alienware but has a better gpu

You can buy more ram or an ssd seperately and install it yourself.

What is a good desktop computer speaker system?

Q. I want to buy some new computer speakers since my old cheap speakers broke and I'm sick of using a gaming headset for music and movies. I am looking to spend around $150-200 on a good speaker system. I am a "semi-audiophile" and I appreciate good sound. I would prefer a system with a good balance of highs, mids, and lows and would rather have a good 2.1 system than a cheap surround sound system. I would prefer a system with a subwoofer, but if there are any that have good bass without one, I am open to it. I don't have a sound card on my computer, but I am open to buying one if it makes a considerable difference. Any help is appreciated.

A. Here are a few speaker systems that fall within your price range.

A. It should have come with an adapter for the 3.5mm jack.

What college and courses should i take for game design?

Q. I'm wondering what college i should go to for game design and what courses i should take. I specifically want to go into the programming aspect of game design. Not sure what the difference between undergrad and grad is, so which would probably be better and why.
I want to study in the US. Preferably in colleges in texas, but if there are better colleges in other states, i wouldnt mind. And i do plan on working on some games, maybe become a indie developer, throughout my education so maybe i can get an upperhand on other folks who are going into the same career as me.
Also is it better for me to pursue a undergrad or grad degree is what i meant earlier.

A. If you want to study in UK there's a course called game designing so you could look up for that... I'm not sure if you can take that course somewhere else beside UK, but if you can't just go and study computer science and while studying work on your own projects ... For instance, I want to be a game developer some day... At the moment I'm in highschool and I'm studying Economics, I have a few programs on my laptop such as unity and blender and I give myself a tasks every now and then just to get a feel of it ... Eventually I'll know much more things than someone who attended school which studies that subjecsts because I'm constantly looking for something and on the way of looking I'm seeing and learning other things too, on the other hand, kids on college which study game development will maybe know less because "their profesor didn't show them that"...
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is:
Study CS, work on your own and you'll succeed

Would Game Design be a concentration of a Computer Science major?
Q. I'm filling out college applications and I was wondering what exactly a concentration is, and what would be one in a computer science major. Hopefully game design because that is what i really want to learn.

A. You could major in computer science at first and then later transfer to a more advanced program where you can major in game design or advanced video game graphing, etc. It really does depend on the school.

How much would it cost to build a decent gaming computer in 2011?

Q. I've been really wanting to build a gaming computer, but I'm not the most tech-savvy person on earth. I know I can probably do it for $1k, but I'd also like to know what components I should buy in the first place to build a pretty good gaming computer.
I already have a pretty good monitor, mouse, speakers, keyboard, etc. All I have to worry about is the tower.

A. I would say around $800 - $1000.
You can get an AMD Phenom Quad Core for around $150. You can get a Hexa core processor, if you want to be really upgrade proof. But that usually costs a lot more than the quad.
Motherboards typically cost $150 - 200. (Be sure to get a mobo that is compatible with the processor)
A decent video card that will run current games will cost you $150 - 200. I recommend the NVIDIA GTX 560.
RAM (depending on how much you want) will typically cost you $60 - 120. 6GB DDR3 is recommended.
Power Supplies will be around $60 - 100. I recommend Corsair Power Supplies, they also have a Gaming Series for gaming computers.
Case would be around $50 - 80.
Windows will cost you $100 or more.
A Hard Drive will be around $100. 7200rpm recommended. You can go for a solid state hard drive just for backups, they are around $120.
So yeah, around $900.
In the end, you will be saving LOTS of money instead of buying an Alienware.

I am putting building a desktop. What are the best parts I can look for a good price?
Q. I'm planning on building a destop computer for gaming. I mostly do online gaming or load other games on the computer. I'm also thinking of starting from scratch or rebuilding from an old XP.
What am I looking for and what is a good brand?

A. The March 2011 edition of MaximumPC has an excellent article on building a gaming PC for just under $1,000. You could also do what I did and just buy one from IBuyPower for $600.

Best gaming computer for its price and what is needed and not needed in a gaming computer?

Q. Okay i am thinking of buying a nice gaming computer but want to spend less then 700 dollars for the computer (excluding monitor) . I know to many cores are not needed and i7 is not need for gaming because hyper threading is useless in gaming and the 8 cores are also pointless. I want to know if its better to build my own or wait till black Friday and buy one? If build my own please recommend the best parts you think will be good for this price range and is easily upgrade-able (ram, more monitors on it, more then one graphics card slot ext) and where to find the parts. specific would be helpful here. Thank you for your time.

A. Hello! Last month I had also assemble my own computer and even I also wanted to spend less money on the components. To find a cheap online electronic stores I searched for various online websites and after a huge search I found an online electronic store from where I bought these components at lower prices as compare to other stores. This store is fully reliable as well as safe.

What is a good durable gaming headset for the PC?

Q. I am looking for a headset that will last me a few years and that has a microphone. I would be using it to talk to my friends while gaming. Some of the games I would be playing are Minecraft, Gary's mod, and other games like that. I have already thought about buying the Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha USB Gaming Headset, because I can find them relatively cheap, and they come with a sound card. I am using a dell inspiron N7110 so obviously the headset would have to be compatible with the driver inside my computer. My budget is $50 excluding shipping, but for shipping I would prefer it to be relatively cheap, as in, maybe under $6?

A. whats up Jacob,

If your budget is around $50, then I'd definitely recommend either Steelseries or plantronics.

They both make excellent midrange models, and the V2 is arguably the best in its price range. Surround sound is solid, and the condenser mic has surprisingly good noise cancellation.

Siberia V2:

Good luck and happy gaming!

My boyfriend wants a gaming headset for his birthday?
Q. He asked for a headset. He plays a lot of computer games but mainly Starcraft 2. I don't want to get him a lousy one, but not one that costs a fortune either. What are some good ones that don't cost too much?

A. I dont know now a days but a great one that many gamers use is
SteelSeries Siberia v2
Im not 100% sure its the newest one but i use it and at Dreamhack(huuuge lan) had thouse an its very common in general, my reccomendation.

Edit: thouse in the link is probably not worth getting yet razor make good products , just dont get a starcraft headset and pay 60$ for an icon...

How do I tell if a computer is a good deal?

Q. I need to shop for a new computer but don't know much about them and don't know how to get the most for my money. How do I shop for a comp and know if it is a good price?
Please lay this out in simple terms for me.
I plan on using my comp for:
-internet
-music-ipod, burning cds
-pics-downloanding from digital cam
know I want microsoft office.

A. LOLOL! There are SOO many things to compare, and what you use it for also has to be taken into consideration in making a decision. Having said that, here are the minimums that you should definitely compare:

Apple or PC (Windows based system)
Hope you know which one you prefer lol.

Hard Drive Size.
This determines how much information/data you can store on your computer. It also affects the speed at which your computer functions. How big it should be really depends on what you do on your computer. But I'd at least get 80GB just for basic applications such as Internet Exploror, Microsoft Office, etc.

Type of Processor and Processor Speed (also called CPU)
This is an important factor that determines your computer's speed. The faster the processor, the faster applications will open aand operate
The latest one from Intel is Pentium Duo 2, but Pentium D or Pentium 4 is also good if you are not looking to get the latest.

Random Access Memory (RAM)
This determines the amount of memory that you can use at once. If you have a large RAM, you can run more programs at once. This also affects the speed at which programs operate.
For surfing on the net, using Microsoft Office, playing DVD movies, etc, 512MB is sufficient. If you wanna edit videos, connect an HD camcorder, etc, then, you need at least 1GB.

DVD drive:
First of all, most of the computers come with either 1 or 2 DVD drives. 1 is sufficient if you use it just to play DVDs and/or occasionally transfer/copy files from your hard drive to a DVD disk for storage or to backup your hard drive. You may want 2 DVD drives only if you frequently make copies of DVDs. In that case, you use one drive to insert a disk that already has files/data, and the other one to insert a blank DVD disk to copy the files onto. BUT you can always copy the files once to your hard drive, take out the disk, swap it with a blank disk and copy the files from the hard drive to the blank disk.

Another thing for you to check is if the DVD drive can write or not. Some DVD drives (called DVD-R) can only READ DVDs, which means you can play DVDs on your computer but cannot WRITE or copy files onto blank DVD disks. If you wanna save your files on DVD disks, you need to get a DVD-RW drive.

Lastly, there are single layer and double layer DVD-RW drives. With a double layer drive AND a double layer DVD disk, you can store twice as much information on one disk.

If you plan on using the computer to play games, the type of video card you get, in addition to Hard Drive/RAM/CPU, really matters. If you are a music lover and need good sounds, then a sound card matters.

You may also wanna check if it comes with basic soft such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint etc.) if that matters to you.

Hope you 'd included more about how you plan on using your machine lol!

**** EDIT ******

Great!!!!! You added what you plan on doing on your computer. Yeeey! lmao!

Alright. I will lay out my suggestions for you assuming you are gettin a PC and this is ALL you use your computer for.

Hard Drive (HD): 80GB to 160GB

Processor (CPU): I only know about Intel so if you get Intel, either Pentium 4 / Pentium D 2GHz or faster, OR any of the Duo processor.

RAM: 512MB.

DVD Drive: Get a single layer DVD-RW dirve. If you keep transferring pictures onto your PC's hard drive, the HD will eventually get filled up. Then, you will want to copy them to DVDs or CDs to clear up the HD and improve HD's performance, lol.
ALL DVD-RW drives can write CDs.

It'll be nice if the deal includes Microsoft Office. But you can always purchase the package separately and install it.

Also, check how many USB ports the computer has. Many peripherals (keyboard, mouse, printer/scanner, etc) now use USB ports. Hopefully you have enough of them and you don't have to unplug any of the peripheral devices in order to hook up your digi cam or iPOD.

Good luck, hehe!

**** EDIT 2 ****

For instance, the cheapest one listed here:
http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/cto_dimene520?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

will do. You may wanna add a monitor, get a DVD-RW drive (the cheapest one does write CDs but not DVDs), and Microsoft Office.

Again, check the number of USB ports and if you are very picky abount sounds that come out of the computer, you may want a better sound card than the default one.

How do I find on my computer where it tells whether my computer has a 64 or 32 bit processor?
Q. I have a Dell computer and it is currently running Windows XP. I ran a program called Tune-up System Optimizer and it says that I have a 64 bit processor but my computer is only using 32 of the available 64 bits. I want to check this out for myself...I have looked under everything I can think of in the control panel but I have not been able to locate any information that says anything about 64 or even 32 bits.

A. You need the 64bit version of windows. xp & vista both come in 64bit editions. actually, the software support for 64 isn't quite there yet for most applications. You can also run into a ton of problems finding drivers for 64 bit edition for most of your peripherals. Especially in vista, since it doesn't accept unsigned drivers. Almost impossible to find drivers for x64. If you play any games, you'll run into problems there as well.

x64 will definately take over eventually but it's really just not at the mainstream level yet. Any type of software support is gonna be minimal at best.
If you want to try it out the best advice is to use a 2nd drive or partition your main drive and keep your current windows available with a dual boot option.

How much would i need to build a gaming computer?
Q. I have about 500 dollars to spend on building a game computer right now would that be enough and what all would i need?

A. Most likely not.

You need lots of RAM, Video RAM and hard drive for a gaming PC.

You can buy a normal PC for $500 and upgrade individual pieces as you earned more money.

Can I dual monitor with one computer to play 2different games?

Q. So my brother and I bought a nice computer a bit ago but we want to play the same games together so I am wondering if I can add another monitor/keyboard and mouse if we can play something like sc2 at the same time??? Thank you

A. Depends upon how many cores in processor, or if multi-threading, or if you have the speed and processing power to do a high frame rate with two games running.
Dual screens are easy. What is hard is separate keyboard and mouse inputs from two people. There might be a software solution. http://www.userful.com/products/downloads/free-2-user is one, but for Linux OS only. Don't know if the games you wish to run will work in that OS.
Doesn't look good for a Windows machine. http://facepunch.com/threads/1010461 refers to a dead forum thread.
"Thats designed purely for splitscreen, if you want to launch two copies of a game, youll need the auto window manager, and force both copies of the game to be focus together. if you want to launch two source games, youll need procexp(?). Open it, find the hl2 executable on the left, then scroll down at the bottom until you find the hl2_singleton mutex, and close the handle to it. I dont really recommend doing that online! "

"Your answer lies with Thin Clients. Game is run off one server computer... then it's transfered to each thin client which is basically a monitor."
(I have no experience in Thin Clients at all, never heard of them that I remember)

http://superuser.com/questions/378901/two-instances-of-one-computer discusses it but doubtful about simultaneous users, more likely taking turns only.

http://www.astahost.com/info/ttfitf-dual-monitors-computers.html says:
"Microsoft solution is designed specifically for this purpose is called Windows Multipoint Server 2011. I haven't tried it yet because I don't want to change my OS but still I have this option available to me."

http://technet.microsoft.com/library/gg609207.aspx for Windows Multipoint Server 2011.

P.S Im not talking about a gaming [laptop]

A. These are in US DOLLAR amounts and are available at Fry's Electronics www.fryselectronics.com but this will rock everyone's world and everyone will envy your system. I chose not to list the i7 Intel CPU that was for $899.99 dollars because I figured you may not want to spend that much on just a CPU. This is only an estimated cost but this would really make your friends come over and want to play. Lol

1. Intel Core i7 3.6Ghz LGA 2011 Processor...... $299.99
2. Asus Rampage IV Extreme S2011 Motherboard ........ $429.99

How do I fix my Computers headphones?
Q. Okay I have gaming headphones with the mic. They got unplugged and I have tried restarting my computer, plugging them in again, and trying other headphones... The volume is all the way up! Please help!

A. What exactly is the problem? They're quiet? Your gaming headphones don't work?

If the way that they were "got unplugged" caused the wire to get damaged, you just gotta buy new ones (sorry).

Otherwise, just try making sure they're pushed in all the way, the program/computer/headphone is not muted, or common things like that.

What are some good gaming computers that can handle pretty much any game?

Q. I want to get a gaming computer that can handle lots of games, have plenty of memory space and is super fast when just internet browsing or playing a fast paced fps. I know alienware makes some pretty sick computers but i wouldn't know which one to get, im not really a tech guy. I play games like star wars the old republic and combat arms and they got some serious lag on them and i hate it. What are some good gaming computer models that can handle these games?

A. Let me help you pick a computer! Alienware does have nice computers, no doubt. Although, their computers are famous for being overpriced for what you get. Let me give you some pointers when you are looking for your computer! I will also suggest a few computers for you to look in to.

First rule: Windows 7 is a must. Macs and older versions of windows are simply obsolete for gaming. I will give a Mac OS credit in certain aspects over Windows OS, although gaming is simply not Macs strong point.

Second: Processor / Video Card/ RAM - The 3 most important things when picking a computer.
You will want to make sure your PROCESSOR is a 64 bit capable processor with at least 4 cores (Quad core). If you want to take it to the next level, look into 6-8 core processors (if price is not a concern..)
For a video card, I would highly suggest a GeForce (Nvidia) and one of the newer models. I use the Nvidia 550 gtx ti. It's a great card, last I checked the nvidia series with geforce goes at high as the 590gtx. So at least make sure your video card is an Nvidia GTX 500 series.
RAM (Random Access Memory) - The reason a 64 bit processor is so important, is RAM. 64 bit processors allow you to use a great deal of random access memory which will significantly increase computer speed while web browsing and multitasking. It also plays a fairly large roll in the gaming world second to video cards. I would suggest no less than 8 Gigabytes of RAM.

Third: System cooling - this is usually more of a concern if you build your own PC. Lots of people get the best hardware imaginable and don't understand just how much heat that puts out. Although, if you order a computer from a professional website or company, they understand the importance of cooling.

Fourth - Power supply! One of the most overlooked parts of a computer is the power supply. Think about it like this: If you're using the best parts, they demand lots of power (especially more-so than medium and low quality parts). Since I don't know exactly what parts you will use it would be difficult to recommend the perfect power supply. But for a gaming computer, make sure your power supply has at least 750 Watts, preferably more if you are buying a high end machine.

Good machines to look into with a higher budget:
IBuyPower LVL 10: http://www.ibuypower.com/info/Level10.aspx Just a strong overall computer that will undoubtedly take you through any game. Very expensive though. The cheaper models will run you about $2,000 not including shipping costs.

Black Pearl by CyberPower. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_Black_Pearl/
Will run you ~$1,150

If you want cheaper option, Alienware does offer a fair deal on a nice computer that will run SWToR and Combat Arms with no problems, here is a link to their x51.
http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-x51/pd - This will probably run you around $800 if you make any upgrades or get a monitor. It could cost as low as ~$725 with shipping otherwise.

Last off, if you want to build your own (perhaps if you have a friend or a local business that will hook it all up for a price) look into Tigerdirect.com or Newegg.com for parts.

Hopefully this helps!

What is a good gaming computer and how much does it cost?
Q. I'm looking for a good gaming computer with good graphics.
I know I'll need a video chip to help it so any information on what kind of chip will also be useful.
And prices would also be appreciated, thanks.

A. http://gamingrig.blogspot.com/

Check this for the best gaming PC's that can be purchased at $500, $600, $750 and $1000. It all depends on how much you want to spend for your PC. Anything over $500 will get you a decent gaming PC.

What is the best processor, mother board, video card, and etc.for computer gaming desktop?

Q. Im planning to put a computer gaming shop business. Please give me advice on whats the most affordable but best set up of computer I can assemble.please be specific.im really not a tech person.

A. It is all very budget dependent. Here is a nice $1000 part set if putting it together yourself, and be sure to watch youtube videos and work on a non-static flat big surface and wear gloves or ground yourself and never force things together.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zWjz
CPU Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz 4 cores, 4 threads since gaming does not use hyperthreading nor more than 4 cores.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler - a good value for overclocking the CPU. It is tall, but very efficient and priced well.
Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 Motherboard - supports overclocking, and has 2 slots of pciex16 to possibly add a second GPU in SLI at another time for crossfiring instead of replacing the graphics card as you would in a 1 slot system.
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 The right amount for gaming in the right speed for the CPU and is a good brand 1.5V with heat spreader in CAS 9
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - fairly reliable bulk storage in a good size of a terrabyte
Sandisk 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk - to hold Windows and a few games for fast load and top performance. Can use half in partition for Intel RST/SRT HDD acceleration if preferred.
Video Card Galaxy GeForce GTX 660 2GB - Highly rated solid performer. I did not look up its status for SLI vs crossfire
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/660?vs=548
Cooler Master Storm Enforcer ATX Mid Tower Case - Nice looking case with good air flow and roomy. Starts with only 2 fans as adequate, but could add a top fan. There are many good choices of cases. Has USB 2 and 3 and audio ports.
Rosewill Green 630W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Decent enough as a single rail (one +12V as preferred) with a 6 and 6+2 pcie connector set and since GTX 660 needs only one, should be enough for crossfire one day without changing it. 50A (600 watts) on 12V to power GPU, CPU, fans and disk drives. There are better and worse PSUs but this is surely at least adequate and more.
Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer - any DVDRW
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
gamers prefer Win 7
Still need keyboard, mouse, audio output (speakers/headphones), and a display

What is the difference between a regular desktop and a gaming desktop computer?
Q. My family is looking to buy a better computer. I was looking on Amazon and gaming desktops are just about my prize range. But would you recommend buying a gaming computer for regular use and maybe some games? Or just stick with a regular computer? Thanks ( also, whats a decent gaming computer, best performance for the buck?)

A. Most games are GPU intensive, not CPU intensive.

The real difference between a desktop and a gaming computer is the GPU. A desktop will have a minimal GPU (just really to display and have visual effects), while a gaming computer will have a dedicated graphics card and higher performing parts.

My choice is that u should buy a gaming computer :)
Hope this helped :)

Should I sell my laptop to save for a gaming computer?
Q. I have a dell vostro v13 and I was planning on selling it to get a 1500 dollar gaming computer by Christmas. I would be able to sell it for 400 on ebay. I travel from my mom to my dads house every week so the laptop was useful but I really need a gaming desktop. My dad doesn't want me to sell it but I think I should. My mom doesn't care if I sell it.

A. Almost every answer here is not relevant to the question :-) If you really want to play games you surely need gaming desktop, and not max or alienware - buy custom built one. You can actually buy cheaper computer that $1500 one and still will be able to play all games on max, today the best price point is around $1000-1200. Get Intel i5 based one, with 4+GB RAM and good video card like at least GTX 460 and it will be a perfect one. Check link below:
