What's a good gaming computer for a low price?

Q. I'm going to buy Arma 3 but it's a very detailed game, so i need a good computer to play it on. I know my laptop isn't going to be able to handle it. Any good computers anyone knows of? By the way, I've heard that desktops have better memory.

A. There is no such thing as a good gaming computer for a low price. If you want a computer to ACTUALLY play it at LOW graphics, try buying a computer from Costco.

If you want to play it on Very High graphics you will have to buy a computer that is over $1,500 dollars.

is this a good low price gaming computer?

http://www.shopl2.com/Gaming-PC-p/glvl1.htm

i was wondering if this is good enough to run games like Aion and Starcraft

edit* what if i upgraded the processor to AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz
and upgraded the vid card to Radeon HD 5670 512MB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video

then would it still not be worth the money

A. That computer would run Starcraft fine and it would run Aion decently at lower settings. That is actually pretty expensive for what you are getting. For example one of the best graphics cards out there for the money is the Nvidia GTX 460 which can be bought for $175.

Here is a computer for $170 dollars more that has better specs in everyway.

1 TB Harddrive - Western Digital
8 GB DDR3 Memory (1333)
3.1 GHz Dual Core AMD AM3 Processor
All-In-1 Card Reader
550 watts PSU

A. ahm for this question, you can come to any website of selling wow cataclysm. there mostly should be the hardware require for the game. www.gamehos.co.uk. you can find the right answer here i think

How do I update my computer for WOW Cataclysm?
Q. I used System Requirements Lab and it says I need to upgrade my CPU, Video Card, Free Disk Space. I currently have:
Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU 520 @ 1.60GHz
Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family
4.4 GB Disk Space

I need:
Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+
NVIDIA® GeForce® FX or ATI Radeon 9500 or Intel GMA X4500 series video card or better.
25 GB disk space

I was wondering if there was some way i can upgrade my computer for free on the internet?

A. Judging from the initial system specs that you posted your rig at the moment is a notebook that is fairly old.

I would recommend that you build a new PC from scratch but not with the second set of system specs, most of the equipment will not even be available!

Get a system built based around an Intel Core i5 & a suitable Gigabyte motherboard & video card, HD6850 is what I recommend here - they make some of the best PC gear going around at the moment, both in terms of quality and reliability, at least 4Gb of RAM, and in a DVD optical drive, 650 watt power supply, case (with decent airflow is very important), Logitech gaming grade keyboard and mouse and your sweet.

Looking For a cheap Fast Gaming computer?

Q. Well im not really into computer specs and alla that, i want to play WoW on this computer, and all those good games (: my budget is $400-$600, im 15 and thats all i got for my christmass money ! :[
So if you can help me out, Sending me a link to a fast cheap gaming computer then, thank you :)

A. Do you already have a monitor? Most gaming computers are sold as "not including monitor", so that's one way you can save some $s

Gaming computers are in the top two categories for expensive hardware (video editing is the other), so "Fast" and "cheap" are kind of tough to combine.

The main difference between gaming computers and mainstream computers is the video card. You need a separate, fairly high powered video card (ATI Radeon 4650/nVidia Geforce 9800 GT/GeForce 250 or better) and enough of a powersupply to drive it for good graphics. Don't buy a cheap system with integrated graphics, or you'll almost always have to upgrade BOTH the video card AND power supply to make it into a gaming system.

For the upper end of your price range, you can get a system that will play WoW pretty awesomely and any of the current games (some at mid to low settings). Spec out something with:
CPU: Dual Core (AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual-Core CPU )
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
Power Supply: 450W (minimum)
Video card: (Radeon 4670 1GB)
At http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Configurators.aspx?mid=182 with the above specs will come up to $518, +shipping.

Is this a decent gaming computer for diablo 3?

Q. I am interested in buying the computer below:

http://shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Desktops/HP-Pavilion/H2M53AA?HP-Pavilion-p6-2120-Desktop-PC

But before i purchase it, I have a few questions. I picked this computer because i wanted a computer that would run diablo 3 pretty well, with hardly any lag. I am not a hardcore gamer, so really the only pc game that will be downloaded on here is diablo. Do you think this computer will run diablo 3 well with no lag? Is the graphics card good? and does it have enough memory? Feel free to give me other suggestions on computers that may be around the same price if not cheaper and still be at the same level, if not a little better! thanks so much! i am clueless when it comes to this stuff!

A. That should do fine, Diablo 3 doesn't take much of anything to run on the highest settings. Also, even if it can't, you literally won't be missing out on much. Look up Diablo 3 Lowest vs Highest settings comparisons, the only difference is the anti-aliasing (it makes edges look smoother), physics (which are only there for eye candy really), and useless skeletons that lie on the ground. You wouldn't be missing much.

Switching Diablo 3 computers?
Q. I purchased Diablo 3 on another computer. But now I got my new one. How do I download the game to this computer? It only gives me the option to install the client:( Help please?

A. were did you get game from? some places online are account based and so you go to that site and redownload the game. if you have the cd you should be able to download it onto your new computer. if you got it online i would send a message to that company who you got it from thru there forums and ask.

i know steam and orgin(ea). once you get a game you have unlimited downloads. being that in order to play you have to log into the account first. (if not playing online then you can play the same game on all computers) you just have to log into steam in offline mode. as far as online goes steam only lets one computer on at a time.

as the guy above said even if your friend does not have it installed you can still install it. (just takes longer then from a cd) and you can then play it. when you leave your friends house just make sure to delete out your login pw. or make sure he does not know it, and he wont be able to play unless he gets his own key.

how to store my computer game on my hard drive?
Q. I want to store my computer game on my hard drive. So what I did is I copied all of the CD files to my hard drive hoping it would run from that. Then I envoked it and it just said to insert the disk v_v. Do you guys know of a way to store it on my hard drive and for my computer to read it like a regular CD

A. Some computer games, in order to prevent piracy, deliberately check for a particular CD to be in the CD drive. If that Cd is not there the game will not run. If your game has that kind of feature, you can't fool it without actually modifying the game program. That is hacking and quite difficult, let alone bordering on illegal.

Sometimes the computer game is simply thinking that the files are on a CD. In that case you find the shortcut of the game and right click. When properties dialog box comes up, look for a field labeled 'Start In'. You will see that it uses the drive letter of the CD drive. Change that drive letter to your hard drive and give the full path of where you have stored the content. Then upon double clicking this shortcut, it will look on the hard drive instead of a CD.

Looking to buy a Gaming Computer need help!?

Q. Hello, So I'm in the market for a nice gaming pc! I want a pc that is able to run games such as Crysis and world in conflict...I was looking at these two computers:

VELOCITY MICRO PROMAGIX E2020 that a friend would sell to me around $250

and a CyberPower Custom built Computer another friend is offering..I don't really feel like listing everything in it but it's very similar to this computer that i found on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220209762931&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

Any Help would be greatly appreciated...Also would it be wise to be a computer off ebay because Ive seen some great deals on gaming pc's on there....Also it seems like ebay is more in my price range which is about $300-$400

-Mark
The Velocity is similar to this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120230010572&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=002

A. Good gaming computers won't be priced any lower than $1000, simply because gaming computers have expensive video/sound cards, a lot of ram (2GB +) and they have a lot of Hard drive space (200GB +), plus controller ports. Plus, most new PC games only use Windows Vista.

Game Controller For Computer?
Q. I am in need of a new game controller for my computer. I bought Rainbow Six Vegas 2 today, and I would like to buy a controller that is very similar to a PS3 controller or a Xbox 360 controlle to use for it. Also, are game controllers compatible for this game? Any suggestions or brand names?

Thanks

A. I have used a "Logitech Dual Action" PC controller, I have had it for a long time and it still works fine. Plus it is almost identical to the PS3 controller (except instead of shapes, they use numbers). And if you take the time to search, you can usually find one for under 10 bucks, its a steal!

I'm getting a computer dedicated for gaming, should I get Windows 7 or 8?

Q. I heard that windows 8 is sh*t for gaming and only used for tablets and all in ones, but I want a second opinion as I do not want to buy Windows 8 separately (Personally I'd radar Windows 7).

A. You heard wrong. Benchmarks show Windows 8 and Windows 7 gaming performance is so close that it doesn't matter. Windows 8 works fine for gaming computers. You can always install a free start menu if you don't like the start screen. Here's a whole list of free start menus.

Windows 8 Gaming Problems, Help?
Q. So, ever since i bought Windows 8 I have been getting many issues with the video games i download. I'm almost 100% sure that it is not the game, because when i had Windows 7 they would work fine. Games such as League of Legends, Crossfire, Age of Empire Online, etc. They would crash my computer or some would just stop working. My theory is that the games haven't updated to the Windows 8 software, but i'm not sure. Please tell me any information you have or can find about this problem, it really brings down Windows 8 customer satisfaction.

A. I also had issues after upgrading from Windows 7 to 8, especially with older games from Gametap, they stopped working or performed erratically. I decided to roll back to Windows 7 but that required a factory refresh using my computer's recovery partition. I had to restore my data and re-install all my applications afterwards.
If you decide to roll back, make sure to have the Windows 7 operating system, a data backup and application media or installation files ready.

Best Gaming Computer?

Q. Im a noob when it comes to computers, so i need some help with finding a good one.
Im only use my computer for gaming, besides from browsing the web and watching videos online.
Some games that i am or will be playing:
Battlefield 3
Medal of honor: warfighter
Far cry 3
Minecraft :3
Dishonored

The price should be around 1000 euro.

PS: how is the performance of an intel core i5 3350p and how is the nvidia geforce gtx 660?

A. The best brand of gaming computer in my opinion is probably AlienWare. They can ship to a pre-built computer or you can customize your order and they will build it for you. They use the latest in gaming "everything" so you would be best buying one of those.

That said they are not cheap. 800-1500 for one of their towers. Personal experience leads me to tell you to build your own computer. This sounds complex but I built mine in a day with no prior experience. You can find better deals on the parts you need so its cheaper and and its can be useful later if one of said parts break. Plus it's a lot of fun. Concerning your other questions, I do not know how the Intel core is because I use a third party. And nvidia is an excellent company. I forget what card I bought but the one I use had it now for a couple years and my games still run great.

Forgot to mention. My price are American dollars. I don't know the ratio for money. And if you do decide to build a computer buy from www.newegg.com
Best site for computer needs.

Need help building a gaming computer.?
Q. I'm new at this and I want to know what to look for in a tower. I want to learn what brands are good, bad, gb, GHz, good graphic cards, bad graphic cards, etc. Basically all the stuff i need to know about. And also it'll be nice if i see an example of a descent $600 build compared to a good build. Ty

My email is phixfifofum@yahoo.com if anything :D

A. You're not going to get a full-fledged gaming computer for $600 unless you build one yourself.
As to brands... well, there are a myriad of brands floating around. Just read the reviews first and that'll help give you an idea of how good or bad they are.

Looking for a computer, here are some suggestions as to components:

Processor: For gaming (and just about everything else), Intel is best, but AMD also gives you quite a bit of power for cheaper if you know what you're looking for. Generally, for gaming, I'd recommend any quad-core processor with a clock speed of 2.5GHz or higher. Dual-cores work too, but they're a bit slower, so I wouldn't recommend them all that much. If you do get a dual-core though, you probably want one that's 2.8GHz or higher. As I said before, Intel is usually the better brand when it comes to performance, but AMD is cheaper.

Graphics cards: Light to medium gaming, I'd get something like a Radeon HD 5670 or GeForce GTS 450. For heavier and hardcore gaming, the majority of the Radeon HD 6000 series would work out, as would the Radeon HD 5770 or better. Also for heavy gaming, the GeForce GTX 460 and higher, plus the GTX 500 series, would be quite good as well, but more expensive. The best cards on the market can go for as much as $900, which won't fit your budget.

Hard drive: SSDs (Solid state drives) are the fastest, but usually smaller and more expensive. Regular HDDs (Hard disk drives) are somewhat less reliable, but most still last you a good couple years and they can come in sizes up to 3TB (3000GB). Really, for general gaming purposes, a 7200rpm 1TB drive would work. The higher the RPM, the better the performance, but it'll probably wear out more quickly.

Memory: Try to aim for 4GB of DDR3. For gaming, I'd get a minimum of 3GB. 6GB would be more preferable.

Power supply: For the above items, I'd suggest a 650 or 750 watt power supply to be able to support the more power-consuming hardware like the graphics cards.

In summary, you can get a lot of performance if you're willing to fork over the cash, but as a baseline to go on, for moderate gaming on a budget:

Generally any quad-core processor, 2.5GHz or higher, preferably Intel for better performance (starting at about $160 at 2.5GHz for a Core 2 Quad, more if getting an i5/i7).
AMD (preferably the Phenom II X4 line, $120ish starting price at 2.8GHz) for less bite out of the wallet.

For graphics, a Radeon HD 5670 ($95) is good for moderate gaming, but the 5770, for $40 more, can handle heavier gaming. GeForce GTS 450 ($120) is in between the 5670 and 5770 in terms of both price and performance.

For hard drive, for general gaming you want around 500GB at 7200rpm at minimum. More and faster is better, but more expensive.

For RAM, 4GB of DDR3 is reccommended, the more the better.

For power supplies, the absolute minimum I would go with the graphics card mentioned above is 500 watts, but more is better (and more expensive).

Generally, the faster and more powerful the hardware is, the more you're going to spend.
Hopefully this helped.

Gaming Computer for $900 - opinions?

Q. My build includes a 21.5" monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and a wireless card.

i3 3220 (3.3 GHz)
2x 4GB Team 1333 MHz
ASRock H77 Pro4-MVP
Silverstone RL01
Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti OC (Boost is not available)
Pioneer optical disc
WD Caviar Blue 1TB
Samsung 840 Series 120GB
Corsair CX430M

Can it handle games such as CS: GO, Hitman: Absolution, Batman: Arkham City, GTA IV at 1920x1080 resolution?

A. Yes you'll easily handle those games on ultra at 1080p. The toughest titles like BF3 would only be playable on high settings, not ultra (neither your CPU nor GPU are powerful enough for that). GTA IV will probably be a bit laggy since it's a very poorly coded port that doesn't run well on anything less than a quad-core.

The GeForce GTX 650 Ti (reference model, let alone OC) is better than a Radeon HD 7770, so ignore suggestions to downgrade. Moving to a Radeon HD 7850 would be an upgrade, although overkill for those games.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_650_Ti_Amp_Edition/7.html
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2012/10/09/nvidia-geforce-gtx-650-ti-review/5

However i recommend upgrading the PSU to a Corsair CX500. And stick with 2x4GB, since you want dual-channel memory access.

Your alternative (which would be better for GTA IV) is to consider AMD's new FX-6300 along with an AM3+ motherboard instead of the Core i3 3220 and AsRock H77 Pro4-MVP. While the original Bulldozer FX processors were much weaker than 2nd gen Core i3 for gaming, the new Piledriver processors have greatly improved gaming performance. However the Core i3 is still better in really CPU-intensive titles like Starcraft 2.

How to build a decent gaming computer for under 900$?
Q. I've never built a computer before so any information websites or anything would be awesome. I want to build a computer that's good for gaming and doing just normal stuff on it too.

A. First, I would recommend visiting NCIX on Youtube; they literally teach you everything there is to know about a computer. Their host Linus Sebastian is a very funny guy; I like him and I`m pretty sure you will like him too.

Go on Youtube and search for NCIX or Linus Tech Tips.

They have a website that you can go on to buy computers, and they literally have all different kinds of flavours in many different price ranges. They`re fantastic.

You could research yourself and try to find parts and put them together. Here`s a list of what you would need for a Gaming computer:

-Processor (Intel or AMD)
-Motherboard( Make sure the motherboard`s socket corresponds to the processor)
-Graphics Card (if you want a gaming computer then this should be a big priority)
-RAM (4GB of RAM is perfect for gaming, but I would get more if I multitask a lot too)
-Power Supply (Don`t cheap out on this component. This can damage a lot of things if it was built very poorly. Power supplies can also catch on fire in rare cases if they are poorly made).
Hard Drive (I would get two of them; one dedicated for the Operating system and one dedicated for storage.)
-CD-DVD ROM Drive
-A computer case
-all the accessories, such as mouse, keyboard, case fans etc.

Good Luck

Will this Computer power supply work?

Q. I would like to know if this power supply will work for the time being, i cant quite afford it right know so will it run, what will i notice, and what should i upgrade to when i can, keep in mind i will upgrade graphics card later on year 2011

AMD 64 CPU AM3 :
AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz (Quad Core) 45nm, AM3 6MB Cache

AMD 64 CPU Fans :
AMD Black Edition Copper HeatPipe EXTRA QUIET fan

AMD 64 AM3 Motherboards :
ASRock M3A770DE, AMD 777, Cross Fire, GB LAN

DDR3 Dual Channel memory :
4GB (2x2GB) PC10600 DDR3 1333 Dual Channel

PCI-Express Video cards :
GeForce 9500GT 1GB PCI EXpress 16X dual head, tv out

Hard Drives :
500.0GB Western Digital 7200RPM SATA2 UDMA 300 16m cache

Sound Cards :
Realtek HD digital audio (onboard)

Network Cards :
Ethernet network adapter (onboard)

Cases :
PowMax Black Mid Tower ATX Case w/ Front USB

Power Supply :
Logisys 400W ATX Power Supply

A. If you need the computer to run games, you can't compromise on the video card. The 9500GT is too slow.

If you need to stick to a firm budget, then you're gonna have to spend less on the CPU, and use the stock heatsink/fan (which isn't that bad), so you can spend more on the video card and power supply.

On a gaming computer, the video card is your top priority, and, if you want the computer run reliably, you want a power supply that's strong enough to support it. Let the CPU be the thing you upgrade later.

See what your total is, using these parts instead,

Athlon II X3 445 (3.1GHz), $85,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103872

Which of these video games should I get 3-13-2011?
Q. I only have $50 to spend so I can only afford 1 or 2 games out of the list, I'll list the prices as well. I need your help to decide which deal is the best bang for the buck. Feel free to mention a game not in the list as well if you feel you know a better one.

- The Sims 3 ($40)
- Fallout 3 Game of the Year ($30)
- Battlefield Bad Company 2 ($20)
- Grand Theft Auto 4 ($20)
- Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (Pre-Order, Only interested in the Multiplayer, comes out the 22nd) ($50)
- Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion (If I get BBC2) ($15)

Feel free to mention any games not on the list. They have to be on Steam though. Thanks for your help.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS BELOW ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another game I would like to add to this list: Total War Shogan 2 ($50, comes out tomorrow)

BBC2 has way better multiplayer than COD BO, reason it's on the list.

Steam basically a PC game store (#1). You can buy games and digitally download them via steam and basically have them on your account forever. So if you have multiple computers you can just log in and download the games you bought.

A. I would get fallout3 and GTA4.
You get two great games that are very different so if you get bored of one, you can take a break and play the other.

Sims3 is good and I'm sure the new battlefields are good (but I stopped playing battlefields after battlefield 2). But if it was me, I would play them to death for a few days maybe a week, then get bored of them.

Battlefield might be a better choice if you will sink hour and hours and hours into multiplayer (for free) but I wouldn't, so I would pick GTA & fallout.

I need a budget gaming computer build $330?

Q. I have $330 and want to build a starter gaming computer with preferably with Intel processor but i might consider AMD's i need this to be upgradable and run games fairly well i will be playing games like dayz, battlefield 3 and starcraft 2 i am aware that $350 is not enough for a good gaming PC but that is why i need it too be upgradeable so i can add a graphics card in the future as well as upgrade other things. Thanks in advance i would prefer to get links to computer parts but if you find a computer that would suit my needs i will look at those also and i would prefer links from newegg and amazon because i already have accounts there and have bought from them before but again other places will be looked at.

A. for that price, you are going to be building and AMD System. I personally prefer Intel for the satiability, Only get 4GB RAM to start, because games are all 32-bit thus far and 32-bit cant use more then 3.8 GBs or ram anyway, you don't need more the 4 GB for Gaming. You can upgrade this later when you have the money to 8GB ( I wouldn't go any higher the 8 cause anymore then that is a waste of money as a computer wont utilize that much unless 64 bit video editing.

I will give you the links to what I would do, both Intel and AMD options.

For either AMD or Intel system system start with this for RAM and buy one more when you have the money.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148346

For your motherboard i would go with this one because MSI Makes solid motherboards and this one is quite cheap and will do anything you need to do.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130656

Hard Drive: Seagate is very reliable and this is the best deal on new egg at the moment.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697

Graphics card: this the cheapest card with GDDR5 memory that will play games decent
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130808

Case: this is a fairly cheap case that comes with a 480W Power supply.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811148062

Processor: The new Ivy Bridge Pentium is a very capable CPU for cheap. Its more then enough for most games. Its dual core and most games cant use more then that. battlefield 3 can use more cores but you will only notice maybe a 2 or 3 Frame per second drop max.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116886

All together that is about $330 without shipping. It doesnt include an operating system so you will have to "find that somewhere else" It will play your games pretty well.

for the AMD Build Use the same RAM and Case + PSU

go with this CPU: It is a bit more because it has a decent graphics card on the same chip that should play any game.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103942

and this cheaper MSI board:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130641

So the AMD one build is around $285 without shipping again without the operating system. both will Run your games decently well. (I would do the Intel on personally)

Hope that helps
cheers

£400 budget for gaming computer?
Q. Can I get a decent gaming computer monitor and keyboard for £400? I don't need a high end one, but it would need to play most games, what kind of game is the boundary for this budget... Battlefield 4 or minesweeper? Please be reasonable and not just say I Need a budget or £1000. I don't mind second hand as long as there isn't a risk...also a link would get you best answer

A. build it yourself is the way to go so it will come true, a gaming PC including a monitor and keyboard & mouse.

here's the parts list
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2UvH9

I can't guarantee if Amazon still sells that 23 inch monitor for £69.91 but on their homepage they claim that 20 of them are in stock.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046W0RVU/?tag=pcp0f-21

as the operating system I suggest to get a free Linux based one
http://zorin-os.com/index.html
quote from Zorin Linux:
"The Look Changer lets you change your desktop to look and act like either Windows 7, XP, Vista"

the most demanding games that can be played would be Skyrim, Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 on high, Battlefield 4 on low/medium settings.

Gaming computer power supply?

Q. I am thinking on buying a gaming computer from "iBuyPower.com" and I am in the progress of customizing it and it has a 700 Watt power supply with .. SLI ready.
Is this a good gaming computer power supply? Does it really matter?

A. brand name psus are always better b/c of better reliability and it's more silent than the default psu chosen by iBuyPower and elsewhere.

best uninterruptible Power Supply for a 1200w gaming computer?
Q. I want to find the best one for me to get so when i lose power,i will have enough time to shut it down properly and how much time would that power supply give me as im running that many watts?

A. First of all, your computer would not need the full 1200W that your PSU is designed to supply. That is only for the most extreme cases, rarely going to half of that. You could get by with a 1000 to 1200VA rated one (700W) for uninterrupted or shut down power of say 7 minutes with this:
"1050VA / 705 watt power handling ability supports multiple entry-level PCs, network workstations, point-of-sale terminals, small to medium business phone systems, audio/video workstations and heavily configured home theater systems. Offers 7 minutes battery runtime with a full load of 1050VA and 23 minutes with a half load of 525VA." http://www.tripplite.com/sku/OMNISMART1050/ $250--300
Or this one: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR1300G&total_watts=700 with about 8 minutes at 600W, $210
http://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1500AVRLCD-Intelligent-1500VA-Mini-Tower/dp/B000FBK3QK/ref=lp_764572_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1390542582&sr=1-3 The 1350VA model for 810W for $135. Surely you could get almost 8 minutes at full output with that.

I want to make a gaming computer. Parts advice? 10 Points.?

Q. I want a $1000 budget on everything in the computer, including case. It has to be easily accessible inside so I can get to stuff and swap things in and out. It has to include everything I need for playing games from a disk, and preferably a WLan card or something too for games I have on Steam. Also a $500 budget on everything else to go with the computer, such as keyboard, mouse, speakers, headset.

It has to be able to run games like BF3 and be capable of playing any MMORPG.

I like pccsegear.com because it is an Australian site. Any other Australian websites are good as well, or computer stores in the Newcastle, NSW area. I do like newegg.com, but I will NOT be using that or any foreign websites because of shipping costs and some other reasons.

This is also my first time building a computer, and even owning anything other than a laptop, so if you could direct me to a site that will help me actually build it that would be great.

This might be a lot to ask, but 10 points best answer :)

All help is greatly appreciated. Maybe also if you could direct me to some place where I could learn more about these parts and what the specs of parts actually mean and how they differentiate from others. Thanks :)

A. I am doing something similar to you, so I won't get the 10 points, but I'd recommend a business known as msy computers that are Australian for purchasing the parts. They allow you to check if parts are in stock online and then you can pick them up, they usually have everything very cheap, and their range is fair. The only catch is they have virtually no customer service, you go in there and tell them what you want and then the person goes and gets it for you. If you can find that store nearby to you I'd recommend it, they're pretty common over here in SA.

Also from what I'm gathering from research it would be a good idea to go with an ivy bridge intel processor and a motherboard. Youtube and Google how to build computers and stuff, there were a very nice tutorials which I found helpful in learning how to build them.

Good Gaming Computer 2011?

Q. Hello, I am looking for a good gaming computer with an i7 processor and at least 16GB of RAM that is 1,000$ Or less. Thank you and if you could provide a link to the computer that would be great! REMEMBER Computer NOT Laptop

A. You can just build your own computer, by buying the parts and putting them together. That would save you LOTS of money.
parts you might want to consider:
processor: i7 2600k
GPU:GTX 560 or Radeon HD 5850
ram is really your choice, because you want 16gb. But in my own opinion you really don't need that much.
Probably 6-8gb is good for gaming.
I hope you have fun building a comp. :D

Which was the best computer game in 2011?
Q. ...so far.

I do not want a long list on each reply only one game per person please.
But please do explain you reasons for choosing it.

---

A. Ok, so I'm a little stupid, and I don't even know if this is a 2011 game, but I really like minecraft. You can make whatever you want, and be creative..

A. their computers are good but for gaming it sucks. try dell or alien ware. alien ware has awesome gaming computers but a little pricey

Cheap ish gaming computer websites?
Q.

A. I'm not sure what you are asking... so I'm going to provide you with a website to find all kinds of information on Computers - Gaming System Builds, etc that is well known for good advice and great system build ideas. Best site in the industry for computer tech and gamers in my opinion (thought I don't game myself, just use it to help me determine the parts to use to build various levels of gaming systems for my clients as the need arises).

$300 premade custom gaming computer?

Q. So on craigslist I called a guy who was selling a premade gaming computer for 300 dollars but just the tower. He said it runs Aion/WoW to Mid-High settings, would you think that its a real deal or scam? I don't have the info about what parts are being used other than it being an AMD Dual Processor. (Once I find the post again I'll list the other parts that are being used)

A. It's probably an old gaming computer. I'm guessing it's an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, and that's quite of an old CPU.

Gaming Computer Help?
Q. hey
i want a gaming pc for 800 dollars
that can run lots of games full high settings
can u list parts and links for the newegg websites that all work together
u will get best answer :)
this is my first build and i am kind of lost so i need help
thnx

A. $800 isn't very much for a gaming computer these days, but a lot of it boils down to personal preference as well as parts you already have. Odds are that you already have a display that you can use, but even if you're looking to buy a new one, I can't tell you which one to buy because you may be willing to spend more money on a big screen than me.

The motherboard and processor are the most important things to look at. Right now Intel processors are the best for gaming, but a Core 2 Quad processor will cost you quite a bit and a Core i7 will cost even more. At the very least get a good Core 2 Duo. Whatever you choose, just make sure that your motherboard is made for your processor, or that your processor is made for your motherboard. For example, Core 2 Quads use an LGA 775 socket, so you would want to make sure that your motherboard also uses an LGA 775 socket. Your motherboard also needs to have an ATX form factor. Most desktop motherbaords are ATX though so don't worry about it too much. PCI-express is standard on most motherboards, but whether or not you care about having more than one PCI-express slot depends on whether or not you plan on having one or two graphics cards. A fast FSB (front-side bus) will help your processor perform better, but you need to balance its speed with your budget. For a gaming computer you'll probably want 4 slots. You'll probably only use one or two slots at first, but you may want to upgrade later.

If you buy a Core 2 Duo processor, you can probably get away with DDR2 memory, but if you buy a Core 2 Quad, make sure your motherboard supports DDR3 and that you buy DDR3 memory. You should have 2 GB at the minimum, but you could easily justify taking it up into the 4-8GB range.

SATA is standard in all computers now, so don't worry too much about checking for it on the motherboard, but do check to make sure that your hard drive supports SATA. The RPMs on your hard drive are also important. For a gaming computer make sure to get one that spins at 7200, but if you want even better performance, there are hard drives that spin at 10,000 or even 15,000 RPMs. 300 GB is more than I use right now, but hard drives easily go up above 1,000 GB (1 Terabyte) now, so choose a hard drive based on whether you plan on playing games or playing games and storing lots of DVDs on it.

Your graphics card is also extremely important, but can also be one of the most expensive parts. Lots of memory is good in a graphics card, but more important is the chipset it uses. Typically the higher number means a better card, but you may want to look it up for yourself because of how much of a difference it can make both in performance and in your wallet. The output of your graphics card is paramount. HDMI is great for some computer displays, especially because you can also use an HDTV with it, but maybe that's not important to you. DVI is pretty standard, but it's still something to check for if your display uses a DVI input. But maybe your display uses an older VGA connector. Check for it. If you plan on using two graphics cards, make sure it supports SLI for nVidia cards or Crossfire for ATI cards, and the two types are NOT compatible with each other.

A good DVD burner should be standard, and maybe you can cannibalize one from an older computer, but if feel like it's important, Blu-ray readers and even burners are available. Some Blu-ray readers are available for less than $100.

I've never gone super-extreme in building gaming computers, so for me a standard case and power supply is just fine, but make sure that your case is able to stay cool. Lots of fans don't necessarily mean that it'll keep your insides cool, and sometimes those fans just generate lots of extra noise. You'll also pay a premium for extreme designs. It's all up to you on what kind of case you want.

I realize I haven't given you a straight answer for anything, but the hunt for parts can be half the fun in building your own gaming PC, and hopefully you now know enough to customize your computer to your liking.

who can tell me what kind of computer suitable for gaming ?

Q.

A. you can try lenove .
it is a very good computer !
they have a kind of computer that suitble for gaming !

what kind of career can you get from a computer game science degree from University of California Irvine?
Q. I've been interested in going to UCI and study computer game science, but I want to know if it will be worth it. I love to play video games and I think this degree, since it has a lot to do with video games, would be something I would love to do. However, I have doubts whether graduating with that degree will get me a good paying career. What kind of career can I get with this degree?

A. You can get a job in Programing computer games, Testing Computer Games, Designing computer Games Marketing Computer Games Advertising Computer Games and Drawing Computer Games. The pay is not as good as a Computer Engineering job for the jobs I mentioned above, but if you continue and get a PHD and possibly a Doctorate in Computer Games Science and a few other majors in different computer qualifications you could possibly get a job as a Computer Game Engineer and the would be a very well paid job because you wouldn't just be making computer games but you would also be making games for PlayStations consoles, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo and other Consoles as well as inventing games.

what is a good gaming computer for under $1000?

Q. i want a computer that will run multiple games and still work perfectly

A. I would strongly advise you to stay from brands like Alienware-Dell, iBuyPower, Cyberpower, etc. These brands are usually pricey and will cheat customers into buying components they don't need. If you know how to build a computer or know someone who does, that would be better since you can save a lot more money. You can actually build yourself a computer, it isn't difficult at all.

What kind of games are you trying to play? Crysis, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, etc.? If you aren't going to use it for anything other than gaming, a fast dual core CPU is the best (or a triple core AMD Phenom II X3). Don't be fooled by people who tell you that quad cores are the way to go. The reason for that is software (especially games) have yet to catch up with hardware. Unless you need your PC to edit media, 3D design and others, a quad core isn't necessary. However if you want to future-proof for upcoming games then go with a quad core.

As for a video card, ATis are currently the way to go. The HD 5870 will handle any game you throw at it like a champ. If you want a monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080, a 1GB version of any video card you choose is a must.

4GBs of RAM is a minimum, especially if you going to run Windows Vista or 7. DDR2 is cheaper but for the sake of future-proofing, DDR3 is a must.

Depending on what you decided to get, I can guarantee a PSU of 550w is going to be the minimum. You can't go wrong with Corsairs, even if they are a bit expensive. If you want to save a bit of money on your electric bill, I highly advise you to go with an 80 Plus certified PSU.

If you don't want to go through all of that, then here's my recommendation

a good gaming computer build under 1000?
Q.

A. The computer I built a couple months ago only cost $750. So far it's been running pretty well. It can even run Crysis on high settings at 1280x1024 without a problem. It has an Intel e6850, 2gb of RAM, 512mb 8800GT, a 500gb hard drive, motherboard (forgot exactly which model), and an Antec900 case. A new generation of video cards came out recently, so the price of the older cards (which are still good) should be cheaper.

video games/computer monitor?

Q. can you hook a gamecube or any other video game system up to a computer monitor to play through that??

A. I dont think the Game cube has that 15 pin connector to hook to it. There are some composite monitors that take the RCA Jack and if your creative you can probably rig your own.

Computer monitor question?
Q. I have an lcd computer monitor that is cable of dual monitors. Now I want another monitor but I want the cheapest option with the smallest screen within reason. Something around 7". I want a screen of some kind that is small and can be used as a duel monitor as well as be used to play a game system off of and maybe hooked up as a tv.

Should I get adapters and use andother computer monitor, or should I get an lac tv and is there an adapter that will let me use that as my duel screen. Or can I use a dvd player
http://www.optimization-world.com/details/prodid/272.html

how does this connect if both computer tower slots look like inputs from the monitor

A. This VGA to S-Video & Composite Video Converter Box product is something like a spliter but split in two different kind of monitor port (VGA for monitor and RCA for TV) simultaneously. So at two screen will be show the same graphic which is resource from computer (VGA signal). If you need 2 VGA output, then try to find a VGA spliter.
