Gta 4!!!!!!!!!!?

Q. Is GTA 4 better on XBOX 360 or PS3, because i heard that on PS3 the game laggs and freezes alot. And whats a better console?

A. BluRays in 360's, now that's funny. Microsoft using a Sony product, but I'm sure it will happen since Microsoft's HD DVD didn't work out too well and the consenses is going to BluRay.

GTA - Once the bugs are ironed out of the PS3 version, I'm sure they will be very similar, with XBox having its own content, and PS3 having its own content. As of right now, the PS3 version has bugs that are pissing a lot of people off, but still looks better at 640p then it does at 720p on the XBox.

That being said and even though I am a PS3 owner, you have to make that decision on your own. What games do you like and what games are exclusive to each gaming system that you like. For example, if you love Metal Gear Solid, then get a PS3 cause MGS only comes out on Playstation. If you love Halo, then get the XBox cause Halo only comes out on XBox. Live is better than PSN, however this is the infancy of Sony Online, and HOME seems to be a big improvement over what is out now. You pay to get online with XBox (there is a dummied down free version that seems to be of no use) and it is free with Playstation. People will argue over the computing power of XBox and PS3, but each will only use what developers put into them, so it really doesn't matter which one is superior if no one uses it to the fullest.

Here is the only thing I can say, I have been a Playstation faithful since day one, and while I have no problem with XBox, my decision came down to everything the PS3 has to offer right out of the box, cheapest BluRay player on the market, is able to play games, online with existing internet (no extra fees), upgrades my DVD's to 1080p, Music, Photos, Video, can install any Operating System of your choosing (I hate Windows Vista, went back to XP on computer), basically it's a computer, and oh yeah, it plays video games.

Do your research and determine for yourself which is the better console for you. In the past it was pretty clear cut which was the better console (Playstation) but I think we have gotten to the point where it comes down to a choice. Just like the old Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. Which one is better? That becomes a personal choice, cause when you get right down to it, they are all pretty much the same. Ford has Mustang, Chevy has Corvette, Dodge has Viper, XBox has Halo, Playstation has Metal Gear Solid... I'm sure you get the point. Which one works for you?

Would this computer run GTA 4?
Q. I was thinking about buying this computer today at Walmart....would it run gta4 the pc game?...

http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-BT445AA-ABA/15074866

A. GTA 4 Minimum System Requirements

* Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz or equivalent AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
* Memory/RAM: 1GB for XP and 1.5GB for Vista
* Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 or 256MB ATI X1900
* Hard Disk Space: 16GB free
* Operating System: Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1

That computer:
* AMD Sempron 140 processor
2.70GHz, 1000MHz System Bus, 1MB L2 Cache

* 3GB DDR3 system memory (expandable up to 4GB)
Gives you the comfort for multimedia videos and images, video conferencing, basic gaming and all other simple duties

* 320GB SATA hard drive
Store 213,000 photos, 91,000 songs or 168 hours of HD video and more

* LightScribe SuperMulti DVD burner
Watch DVD movies on your computer; read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats

* 10/100BaseT Ethernet
Connect to a broadband modem or a wired broadband router with wired Ethernet

* 18.5" diagonal LCD widescreen monitor
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE integrated graphics

Basically, no. Don't buy that computer, it is a piece of crap. Your main problem with buying a cookie cutter PC is the graphics card. If you want to game, you'll have to invest in an actual gaming card. I would recommend something like a geforce gt220 that performs, but is still affordable. Check out this link:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6753723&Sku=S445-10120

that computer is 10 times better than anything wal-mart can offer, and will do more for your money (it is also a full-size computer). Do lots of research!

$300 premade custom gaming computer?

Q. So on craigslist I called a guy who was selling a premade gaming computer for 300 dollars but just the tower. He said it runs Aion/WoW to Mid-High settings, would you think that its a real deal or scam? I don't have the info about what parts are being used other than it being an AMD Dual Processor. (Once I find the post again I'll list the other parts that are being used)

A. It's probably an old gaming computer. I'm guessing it's an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, and that's quite of an old CPU.

Gaming Computer Help?
Q. hey
i want a gaming pc for 800 dollars
that can run lots of games full high settings
can u list parts and links for the newegg websites that all work together
u will get best answer :)
this is my first build and i am kind of lost so i need help
thnx

A. $800 isn't very much for a gaming computer these days, but a lot of it boils down to personal preference as well as parts you already have. Odds are that you already have a display that you can use, but even if you're looking to buy a new one, I can't tell you which one to buy because you may be willing to spend more money on a big screen than me.

The motherboard and processor are the most important things to look at. Right now Intel processors are the best for gaming, but a Core 2 Quad processor will cost you quite a bit and a Core i7 will cost even more. At the very least get a good Core 2 Duo. Whatever you choose, just make sure that your motherboard is made for your processor, or that your processor is made for your motherboard. For example, Core 2 Quads use an LGA 775 socket, so you would want to make sure that your motherboard also uses an LGA 775 socket. Your motherboard also needs to have an ATX form factor. Most desktop motherbaords are ATX though so don't worry about it too much. PCI-express is standard on most motherboards, but whether or not you care about having more than one PCI-express slot depends on whether or not you plan on having one or two graphics cards. A fast FSB (front-side bus) will help your processor perform better, but you need to balance its speed with your budget. For a gaming computer you'll probably want 4 slots. You'll probably only use one or two slots at first, but you may want to upgrade later.

If you buy a Core 2 Duo processor, you can probably get away with DDR2 memory, but if you buy a Core 2 Quad, make sure your motherboard supports DDR3 and that you buy DDR3 memory. You should have 2 GB at the minimum, but you could easily justify taking it up into the 4-8GB range.

SATA is standard in all computers now, so don't worry too much about checking for it on the motherboard, but do check to make sure that your hard drive supports SATA. The RPMs on your hard drive are also important. For a gaming computer make sure to get one that spins at 7200, but if you want even better performance, there are hard drives that spin at 10,000 or even 15,000 RPMs. 300 GB is more than I use right now, but hard drives easily go up above 1,000 GB (1 Terabyte) now, so choose a hard drive based on whether you plan on playing games or playing games and storing lots of DVDs on it.

Your graphics card is also extremely important, but can also be one of the most expensive parts. Lots of memory is good in a graphics card, but more important is the chipset it uses. Typically the higher number means a better card, but you may want to look it up for yourself because of how much of a difference it can make both in performance and in your wallet. The output of your graphics card is paramount. HDMI is great for some computer displays, especially because you can also use an HDTV with it, but maybe that's not important to you. DVI is pretty standard, but it's still something to check for if your display uses a DVI input. But maybe your display uses an older VGA connector. Check for it. If you plan on using two graphics cards, make sure it supports SLI for nVidia cards or Crossfire for ATI cards, and the two types are NOT compatible with each other.

A good DVD burner should be standard, and maybe you can cannibalize one from an older computer, but if feel like it's important, Blu-ray readers and even burners are available. Some Blu-ray readers are available for less than $100.

I've never gone super-extreme in building gaming computers, so for me a standard case and power supply is just fine, but make sure that your case is able to stay cool. Lots of fans don't necessarily mean that it'll keep your insides cool, and sometimes those fans just generate lots of extra noise. You'll also pay a premium for extreme designs. It's all up to you on what kind of case you want.

I realize I haven't given you a straight answer for anything, but the hunt for parts can be half the fun in building your own gaming PC, and hopefully you now know enough to customize your computer to your liking.

Fun video/computer games for a 9 year old boy?

Q. My son asked for some games for Christmas, but when I asked him which ones he wanted he just shrugged and said "new ones." (By new, he means ones he doesn't have yet, not games that haven't come out).
We have a wii and an xbox, and he has his own PSP and access to a family computer. Anything that doesn't seem super girly, babyish or is rated M is a viable option. If you know a good M game that is on the milder side of M, feel free to suggest it
And please don't lecture me about "the dangers of video games," my son is a good boy who loves sports and spends a lot of time outside. He's not a psychopath or a couch potato.
Thanks!

Should i get video games even though my sister told me to get computer games?
Q. I ve always wanted video games wen my sisters were around but never need it. now my sisters went to college and im alone with my parents and granparnets. i really want vidoe games but my sisters tell me my parents are to cheeap to buy me new games everytime i want them? wat should i do

A. Computer games are video games...

BTW, I would suggest getting a system, rather then getting PC games... PC gaming is an even more expensive hobby then console gaming, as you need a good system to run the games to begin with and every couple of years you NEED (not have) to upgrade your system...

Where as the longevity in a modern console is about 5-6 years before a new system is released.... An upgrade to a PC can top 500 easily, if you want better then decent-really good hardware... Where as a console costs about 300..

Gaming computer components also aren't designed for long lasting life... They're designed for power, and the more power an electronic uses/generates, the more heat it generates, and heat is the enemy to electronics, it reduces overall life... That is why people invest in beefy cooling systems for their high end gaming rigs.

If your parents are trying to convince you to stick to PC games for the cheapness aspect, make sure you tell them the above, the overall cheaper route is consoles, PC gaming is better left to serious gamers with money to burn.

cheap gaming computer or build my own?

Q. Hello everyone, I am stumped at the moment trying to decide what to buy. I want to play world of warcraft at a decent fps, (aat least25+) I don't know weather to buy a cheap gaming computer, such as a basic alienware computer or build my own. I have absoltly no clue how to build my own!! I am 15, with no experiance. Please Please help me, I dont know what to do.

A. WOW is not a very demanding game and 25fps+ is practically nothing if you get a good video card (anything in the Geforce 8800 series or above) you will be able to play it at way more than that. Dont buy alienware it is a ripoff and overcharges by around 400$ Building a computer to play WOW would only be around 600$ (not including Peripherals) Building your own computer can be really fun and and you will learn a whole lot about computers. It is something you can do once you've done some research online. Only like a year ago i new nothing about computers but now I've built 3 (and i am a year younger than you as well) Do some research online and decide if you think you want to build one (and building a computer is not as hard as most people think. Your other alternative would be to go to a website like cyperpowerpc or ibuypower and choose the specs you want and it will be custom built for you (and at a good price too)
good luck with your computer

Gaming Computer Under $550?

Q. Dont mind barebones kits, just need something cheap that is decent for gaming and i am able to upgrade in the future somewhat. I've had a somewhat bad experience with cyberpower and such but i'm willing to reconsider.

Just a side note, I mostly play WoW and Rift. Anything that can run MMO's on moderate settings would be great.

A. There is another site similar to cyberpowerpc - it's ibuypower.com

Anyhow, for under $550 you'll probably want to go with AMD. Athlon II X2 is plenty for WoW and Rift, as well as most other things. If you get a motherboard with core unlocker thingy you can possibly end up with a X4 too, but it isn't a guarantee.

MSI makes some good inexpensive AM3 boards, and most of their boards have the core unlocker. As an added upgrade option, you can get one with SLI and/or CrossFire capability in case you want more GPU power in the future without just replacing the one you have.

RAM will be DDR3. AMD benefits more from a low CAS latency than from high bandwidth, so aim for that. G.Skill makes some good RAM with a CAS latency of 6, 2x2Gb for about $80. Whatever RAM you get remember AM3 uses dual channel memory, so buy and install it in pairs. 4Gb should be fine but 8Gb won't hurt anything.

HDD doesn't make too much difference in WoW, but if you want speed get 2 or 3 (or more) and put them in RAID 0 or RAID 5. Do be sure to get 7200rpm instead of 5400.

DVD burner - just read reviews before you buy it to make sure it works for longer than a month.

PSU - pointless to pick this out before deciding on a GPU, but modular adds convenience when building and efficiency does less damage on your electric bill - and usually efficient PSUs generate less heat. Read reviews on these too and stick with good brands.

GPU - Get the best one you can afford and make sure it's GDDR5. If you're only running one monitor 512Mb is probably big enough but I would get 768Mb or 1Gb just to be sure.

Case - plenty of ventilation, the right size, and more than 1 fan are the main concerns on a gaming PC. Other than that it's just whatever looks good to you. Get the biggest one that will fit where you are going to put it (with room to breathe) for better airflow. Tool-less drive bays and expansion slots are nice conveniences too.

The key to building a cheap gaming computer is to get the cheapest parts that will still allow upgrades. I.E. Athlon II X2 can be replaced with Phenom II X6 BE, or you can get 2x2Gb RAM now and 2x2Gb more later. Make sure your PSU is powerful enough to handle your computer after upgrades and you won't have to replace it.

Can my computer handle Rift?
Q. I really want to play this new game called Rift, but I am seriously concerned that my computer can't handle it, and I don't want to shell out $40 if my computer won't be able to play it. It is a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop with 2Gb of RAM, and an Intel Celeron CPU, and it is 2.2 Ghz. I can usually play WoW on low graphics without too much trouble, but I really don't know anything about my video card or sound. Can my computer handle this?
Also: There is an event this weekend where I can try it for free for the weekend, but I just want to know what you think.

A. Your computer is an old model.
Click here: http://www.amazon.com/Compaq-CQ60-210US-15-6-Inch-Dual-Core-Processor/dp/B001NPDKVM
It only has a Class 4 shared memory graphics card that is like the Intel HD graphics w/c is like free, that's why you can't expect much from it for gaming.
Click here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-8200M-G.11360.0.html

My suggestion, just save up your money & buy a better laptop on Black Friday or for Christmas.

ways tell my customers, a laptop's battery is similar to a cell phone's. You charge it when it's depleted & you unplug the adapter when it is already fully charge (this will prevent the battery from getting overcharged & extend the life of the battery). So for less hassle, I always advice my customers to just remove the battery if they plan to use the computer for long hours straight (more than 1 hour) and just run it on AC power alone so as not to overcharge it & shorten the battery life.

If you're looking for an affordable, not so big, yet best in performance gaming laptop?
LOOK NO FURTHER.
Like me, get the MSI GT680R 15.6"-full HD GAMING NOTEBOOK which comes with the 2nd Generation Core i7 Processor 2630QM, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB Hard Disk Drive (2 x 500GB 7200rpm SATA HDD) & a powerful Class 1, 1.5GB NVIDIA GTX460M DDR5 dedicated graphics card that can handle DirectX 11 enhancing the 3D detail effects from FRYS.com (SKU#: 6547393).
I was free for the day so I hung around the store and got to use the laptop first hand.
I came back to check out the laptop every hour for 6 hrs and found out that the air from the vent of the laptop remained cool compared to any other laptops on display there, meaning this laptop has proper heat management, that means this laptop can handle long hours of gruelling play. Now, I'm all stewed up saving to buy this b4 Blizzard releases Diablo 3.
The MSI GT680R 15.6" Gaming Notebook w/ the Intel® Core i-7 retails for $1,499.99 (+ tax & other sur-charges). I chose to pay more to have the newest technology so that I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT GETTING OUTDATED WITHIN THE NEXT 11 YRS.
click here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152239

Are you a game enthusiasts playing for long hours? Get a COOLER MASTER U2 Notebook Cooler w/c has dual purposes. Cool thing about it is that you can position the fans on the right spot for better ventialation. When travelling, detach the easily detacheable dual fan, & you can use the aluminum frame as a protection for your laptop's LCD screen when inside the bag. I got mine from MicroCenter.com for 48% cheaper than the regular $24.99 tag (FRYS.com SKU#: 6344931).
click here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997730

If you're a lil' bit low on budget, get the next best thing. The msi GE620-021 15.6" Gaming Notebook also features a 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 Processor 2630QM & 8GB DDR3 RAM, just 640GB HDD, but only a Class 2, 1GB NVIDIA GT540M dedicated graphics card that can also handle DirectX 11 effects from FRYS.com (SKU#: 6539123).
The ASUS N53SV-XR1 for $949.99 sounds 150dollars cheaper, but comes with only 4GB of memory.

Ok so i made it into the 7770 (since the summer sale has a free upgrade from 7750). I added in basic pro wiring and took out the speakers/got the cheapest case. With shipping im about 30 dollars over my budget, i need to reduce it so i was wondering if i reduced the watts to 700 instead of 800 if it would harm my gaming chance at all? (the standard was 600 and that played all the games i want). I was also wondering if switching from 8gb memory to 4gb would hurt it alot. Or if switching to the 4 core processor over the 6 core. (Doing one of those things, no matter which, will put me in my budget)

A. Personally the 6 cores only really work with future proofing if this is only used for games, the gpu is a little weak but not a bad one the 7770+ is normally what people use but it will run everything fine and it's a good computer

Looking For a cheap Fast Gaming computer?

Q. Well im not really into computer specs and alla that, i want to play WoW on this computer, and all those good games (: my budget is $400-$600, im 15 and thats all i got for my christmass money ! :[
So if you can help me out, Sending me a link to a fast cheap gaming computer then, thank you :)

A. Do you already have a monitor? Most gaming computers are sold as "not including monitor", so that's one way you can save some $s

Gaming computers are in the top two categories for expensive hardware (video editing is the other), so "Fast" and "cheap" are kind of tough to combine.

The main difference between gaming computers and mainstream computers is the video card. You need a separate, fairly high powered video card (ATI Radeon 4650/nVidia Geforce 9800 GT/GeForce 250 or better) and enough of a powersupply to drive it for good graphics. Don't buy a cheap system with integrated graphics, or you'll almost always have to upgrade BOTH the video card AND power supply to make it into a gaming system.

For the upper end of your price range, you can get a system that will play WoW pretty awesomely and any of the current games (some at mid to low settings). Spec out something with:
CPU: Dual Core (AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual-Core CPU )
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
Power Supply: 450W (minimum)
Video card: (Radeon 4670 1GB)
At http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Configurators.aspx?mid=182 with the above specs will come up to $518, +shipping.

Whats a good computer game.?
Q. I wont have much to do this summer and Im looking for a good computer game that is rated T or under. I have a 2.2 GHz processor. 1 GB of Ram and basicly unlimited hardrive space. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 200, and my processor is AMD Athlon 64. I have XP Media Center.

A. A good computer game is the one which
1>works effeciently with the least requirements
2>gives good control to players

Question for the Warhammer 40k Table Top Game...?

Q. I recently got even more obsessed with Warhammer 40,000 (40k) and decided I want to buy the table top version, including its miniatures, etc. I've visited the website and, the prices blew me away...15$ for 5 space marines, and 45$ for 15. And the modeling and painting kits, around 10-30$ (least).

I want to know if the mini's that you buy on the site are already modeled, assembled, and painted, or not. I also want to know if there are other website(s) that sell the mini's that are already assembled, and painted, or if there is a store (Near LA County would work, please) that sells them like that.

A. Well, first of all, I'm delighted you've found the Warhammer 40,000 universe so gripping that you've been moved to look at the tabletop game. I imagine that you've come to it either from the computer games, like Dawn of War, or from the range of novels published by Black Library Publishing (if you haven't already encountered either one of these, then perhaps you'd like to take a look at them, too?)

The tabletop hobby is a completely different ballgame to the computer games, though: a pass-time best suited to patience, attention to detail, thoughtful contemplation and patience (you need a lot of patience).

The price of the models can seem shocking to those who are used to getting their 40kverse as a complete package in DoW or a novel. But you've got to remember that a miniature is an infinitely renewable resource. First, you get to assemble it (and will need the tools, knowledge and patience to do it well); then you get to paint it (tools, knowledge, more patience...) and then you get to play with it. And, once you're playing with it, you can play again and again and again. No subscription. No electricity bill. No batteries. Each model may be anywhere from twenty minutes' to eight hours' work, so your talking about a substantial investment of time and effort and, if you don't enjoy that sort of thing, then this side of the hobby probably isn't for you.

Having said that, it is possible to buy pre-painted models. Take a look on eBay and you'll find people selling whole painted armies, although you'll be lucky to get one for less than $500 of any considerable size.

Alternatively, you can employ a professional painting service. These vary in price but a full service (buying, building, painting and dispatching your choice of models to you, along with consultations on army composition and special conversions - if you like that sort of thing) is unlikely to leave much change from $2000 - and potentially much more! If you want an idea of prices, then you can check out my own homepage, as I've been running a custom painting service for a year or so.

Assuming that that's not an option, you have a few alternatives. The first is good, old eBay, where you can find both online retailers and private sellers with discounted and second-hand products. You may need to be prepared to find a good paint-remover in some cases.

Model paints can be found cheaper, but not if you want a good quality. Other manufacturers, like Reaper, Vallejo and Andrea, make equivalent paints to Citadel but at about the same price. Artist's acrylic paints are much cheaper but completely unsuitable for painting miniatures.

You can also save a considerable amount on the list price of boxed sets by buying one or more army deals, which sell a number of boxed sets in one package at a discount of between 10% and 25% depending on the set in question (it's worth adding up the individual prices of all the included sets to work out the best deal).

Finally, I have to spare a mention for the fact that there are *much* cheaper games set in the 40kverse than Warhammer 40,000 itself. "Battlefleet Gothic" is a ship-to-ship combat game set in the vastness of space. "Necromunda" pits gang against game in the brutal underhive. And "Inquisitor" is a skirmish combat game based around the secret wars of the Imperium's most powerful agency. All of these games have rules that are free to download and for an initial outlay of about $50 or less.

More details on these "specialist" games can be found here:

Computer Game HELP!?
Q. Does anyone remember the name of an old computer game, similar to math blaster, etc. where there are two kids (boy and a girl) and what looks kind of like a floating pair of binoculars trying to solve a mystery of a dragon or something?

A. Cluefinders my man
Dude those were some pretty awesome educational games if i do say so myself. That game helped me learn my multiplication tables.

What is a good gaming computer for about $600-800?

Q. I am looking for a gaming computer that can play all the newer games such as black ops, homefront, crysis 2 etc... I can only spend about $600-800. I don't need a monitor or anything just the computer can anyone give me some options?

A. Titanium Gamer AM6020 would be a good choice for $669.99:
http://best-gaming-computers.blogspot.com/2011/03/66999-titanium-gamer-am6020-gaming.html

or

Systemax BlackOps PC for $749.99
http://best-gaming-computers.blogspot.com/2011/04/comparison-of-24-best-gaming-computers.html

I suggest building a custom gaming computer, you get better specs and save lots of money. It's not very hard if you know what are you doing.

Can i build/buy a fast gaming computer for under $800?
Q. I want to get a gaming computer but my budget is at around $800!! I was wondering, can i get a fast reliable gaming computer for under 800 dollars and still get high FPS and no lag and will i be able to run any game? If so could someone give me some links or some advice where to shop and what to do??

Also i already have a big monitor and a keyboard and mouse!!

A. Yes you can. but don't expect to go to far from 800. Prolly around 600 to 700.

Now if you knew how to build a pc 'd direct you to sites like newegg.com. tigerdirect.com. micropc.com.

But I'm guessing you havn't before. And I say this because while it's not hard, alot of shit can go wrong and you get to spend the time sometimes troubleshooting it.

So i'm thinking a builders site is for you. The one I like to use is http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_1000/ Subsiquently that's a build I ran over quickly. Though you can tweak it for your liking. Because it's labor day they have alot sales going on. SO, spend a day running through that place and see what ya come up with.

Granted I still say home built would be cheaper and better if you have the tinkering skills.

Best Gaming Computer for under $3000?

Q. Hi,
I want to get the best gaming rig I can for under $3000. I'd probably need to customize it, but that's fine, just tell me what specs I should get!

Thanks so much!

A. Build it yourself. For $3000, you can get an absolutely SICK computer (whatever you do, DONT buy an overpriced alienware).

Try ordering all your parts off newegg.

Use this motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130574&Tpk=msi%20p67

This power supply (trust me, it will power virtually anything)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139022&cm_re=tx_850-_-17-139-022-_-Product

Two of these graphics cards. (if you want, the ATI Radeon 6990 is nice, and the 2 Nvidia GTX 570s would perform quite nicely with a little bit more money. In all honesty, though, there is no way to justify the price for a single, high end GTX 580, when cheaper dual card setups offer better performance).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102914&cm_re=6950-_-14-102-914-_-Product

This processor (or go with a 2600k if you feel like splurging a bit)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072&Tpk=2500k

This memory (maybe excessive, but you want a high end rig)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311&cm_re=8gb_ddr3-_-20-231-311-_-Product

This DVD drive (it doesn't really matter which drive you get)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136216&cm_re=dvd_drive-_-27-136-216-_-Product

This hard drive (you can pay for a bigger or faster hard drive if you need it).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218

This CPU cooler (works fine. This cooler is great, but in all honesty, the 2500k and 2600k processors run very cool anyway).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065&cm_re=hyper_212%2b-_-35-103-065-_-Product

Any of these cases (pick a case you like, but be sure that it's not to small, and buy extra case fans if you can. The antec 900 is more than fine)
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=7&name=Computer-Cases&Order=RATING

And this MONSTER of a monitor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824185011&cm_re=2560x1440-_-24-185-011-_-Product
This thing is past HD, it professional. You've never seen detail like that before. But alternatively, you could buy 3 smaller monitors for a multi monitor setup for a similar price.

And windows 7 home premium 64 bit, $100 of newegg.

Get yourself a mouse, keyboard, and speakers, and you have a sick gaming rig that costs less than $3000. Putting it together is actually pretty easy.

EDIT: And by the way, please don't make the mistake of wasting $2800 on a computer only to use a single 1920x1080 monitor ot TV. Your computer will never live up to it's true potential! Buy 3 good screens or the beautiful $800 ultra high res monitor I described, so you can at least put all that computer power to use.

Computer for gaming.?
Q. I have about 1200$. What type of computer can I get that will run new games like BIOSHOCK or Orange Box smoothly? I know I want at least 3 gigs of ram, or else enough money to spare to upgrade it.
Thanks

A. I think $1200 is not enough. I recommend you build your own.

Gaming Club computer ?

Q. I recently bought a desktop computer from a gaming club that closed down. I am assuming that because I am not in the server area, that it causes my problem: everytime i shut down, the computer returns to the settings that I got it in. Does anyone know how to fix this?
@Ryan:
noooo its EVERYTHING. I lose all files, all game progress, EVERYTHING.
I think the data is saved to a server when in server range, but I dont want to operate though their server. How do you disconnectfrom a server, and use your internal memory?
I'm also thinking taht it could be a program thatis doing this. But im not sure which program it would even be...
@kurahk7
We dont want to do hat c ause then we lose all of the games on here; D:
And we can not just wipe it out. We need to copy all of the drivers, but the burner program is expired. When I download a new one, the computer restarts to take effect, but then everything is gone.

A. Well it sounds like that PC was either attached to a domain server, or had software to restore the PC to default settings upon each reboot. Some schools use a program called Deep Freeze which does exactly what your computer is doing rite now, so school kids cant mess up the school PC's. I would personally reinstall windows to fix the problem, there is no way to tell if you have the appropriate permissions/passwords to configure the PC to not work on a domain server, but if it is just a software program doing this you may be able to remove said software. I would recommend before resorting to a format, to google all the installed software names on your PC to see if any of them are capable of doing what you are describing. Good luck

Kids and computer games?
Q. Are there any websites or publications regarding kids playing computer games? Why do kids play computer games?

We are doing a project, a learning computer learning game for kids and we need to find references to back up our research. So any help would be great.

A. Here are a few from Macleans concerning the effect of computers on kids. Some of it based on games some of it on other items.

Hope this helps.

$600 Gaming Computer?

Q. Hello, I am looking to build a gaming computer that can run games like skyrim, Diablo 3, guild wars 2. Just all around can run almost any pc game smoothly. I don't know if that's asking for much because I don't know a lot about computer parts. If someone can recommend a build or a website with a list of builds maybe? It would be appreciated

Thank You! :)
I am willing to go up a bit more to like $700 but I really don't want to go any higher then $700

A. Newegg, Tigerdirect & Microcenter have computer parts to pick from. If you would like a build recommended to you, let me know what your max budget is and I'll get you a nasty setup ;)

Just found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229392

Will keep looking.

gaming computer that is $600 or less cause i need other things specified in details?
Q. i want to buy a gaming computer that is less expensive than an alienware i want to be able to play games like mw3 $600 is probley my limit cause i want to buy a cool keyboard and gaming mouse and headset if there was to be a bundle i could go higher

A. I would build an AMD Llano based system. You can build a good gaming computer for under $600. I doubt you will find any good pre-built computers. Look on youtube, they have tutorials how to build a computer, its actually easy! Here is an example of a computer under $600. Sorry links don't work I lost my old account that was a higher level.

What are good computer specs for online gaming?

Q. Ok so I was wondering what are some good computer specs for a good online gaming experience? games such as mmorpg's etc.
Thanks

A. Mmorpgs need a good internet connection or else it would lag when your in places wheere there's alot of people. Also a good graphics card will tremendously help. AMD5770 if your on a budget Geforce 460 for the mid-enthusiast, and 580 if your just hardcore and are willing to spend 500$ for a single card. For the CPU get ATLEAST a duo core or higher that has a high speed than 2.5 preferably. Also 4 gigabytes of ram should be enough for all games. I think that's the most important specs for a gaming computer.

Computer Specs for PC games.?
Q. Hey everyone
Im not tech savy at all but I need to buy a computer to play PC games and was wondering if this computer's specs are good enough to play games like Crysis 3, sims 3, battlefield games like that. Also if it's a good computer all around. It's about 950 online, is it worth it or is there anything that I could get thats better. Thanks alot

Can this Run WoW,LoL,TF2, and GMOD on medium to high settings?

What about if a new game was realeased tommorow that i wanted to buy right away and play?
Thanks for commenting so far but i have a few things to add.

1.THE SITE CANYOURUNIT FUCKING SUCKS. END OF STORY. I've used it before and some of the games I can't run work fine...

2. I do not own this computer .... hope fully i will eventuallly It's a $500 computer at a local walmart i'm planning on buying

3. If you wanna reccommend a different computer for me go ahead but I need instant gratification.. so im more prone to go to walmart then to wait a few weeks for a computer that I would order off of newegg. So reccommend a good gaming computer for a good price that i can buy at a local store........

If you wanna research for me then my zipcode is 13421 and i live in NY

Oh and I don't need a monitor i plan on using my HD tv or my old computer monitor so obviously im asking for a desktop

A. This computer is not worth $500. It's not a gaming computer by any means, ATI Radeon 3000 integrated can't run any games unless on 800x600 and lowest details - and it will still struggle in all games. You will need a discrete graphics card like at least GT 240 or ATI 5670 to call it a gaming computer.
CPU is the lowest end AMD has right now, and I am assuming it's Athlon 240, not 220 - it does not exist. It's fine CPU for Windows and office and internet, but for gaming - only for general gaming in not most demanding games. You would want something above 3.0Ghz , preferable Phenom II or at least Athlon X3 or X4
RAM 5GB is not good - it's not dual channel , should be 4 or 8GB, but 4 is enough.
I recommend Centaurus Computers - many great deals, much better than that one from walmart. You will not find any decent computers in local stores, only online

Q. Im looking for a laptop that will run these games :
-BF3, dont mind low settings but if possible higher
-Minecraft, max settings (or less but would hope it could run max)
-all others i can think of are less demanding.
i hope for decent framerates, 60 if possible, but will settle for lower (nothing lower than 40 please, i know 30 is fine but i dont find that very playable)
i think 500 pound is a good enough price as my 800 pound desktop runs bf3 ultra at 60 fps and minecraft max at never lower than 150.
i was looking at a Acer Aspire V3-571G-6622

Where to buy a gaming computer?

Q. I want to buy a Gaming PC but i don't know where to get it and i wont to know trusted places because some of them don't look professional. The reason i don't wont to build one is because i don't wont to mess it up and be out the money and still not have a PC. ( Not Alien ware because they are a little over priced)

A. A gaming computer is something you build, you don't just buy one from a store, really.
It is not at all hard to build a gaming PC, even a 13 year old kid can do it, and I've seen lots of them here that did just that.
Very detailed instructions are available if you Google on the subject, even Newegg.com has video tutorials on building a PC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw&feature=player_embedded
Buy all your parts from Newegg.com or Amazon.com, they are the cheapest

All branded computers sold in stores (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony, Acer, Asus and such) are not 100% fitted for gaming, as the manufacturers will always try to use the cheapest hardware they can find and sell for the highest profit possible.
Even if one such computer has a good processor and graphics card, it will most likely have a cheap motherboard, with an older model chipset. Also all branded computers are setup by the manufacturers not to allow for any overclocking, as it will mean a loss for them to fix or replace damaged hardware while in warranty.

Here is a complete list of components to buy for a very good to best gaming PC build:

All prices are in $USD, from newegg.com, and current as of April 2012.

PROCESSOR: Best budget processor: Intel Core i3-2130 ($150) - best budget 4 threads, dual core processor.
Best value and performance processor: Intel Core i5-2500K quad core ($220)
Best in class, price accessible processor: Intel Core i7-2600K quad core ($320)
CPU COOLER: Get a good after market processor heat sink and 120mm fan. The stock Intel CPU cooler is crap.
Either a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or Sunbeam Twister 120 - Cost $35 to $50
Or you can get a water cooler, like Corsair H60 or H80 ($70 or $105)
MOTHERBOARD: For any processor above, get a motherboard with socket LGA1155 and chipset Z68, at least this $120 GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128495
MEMORY (RAM): Both the processor and the motherboard feature fast dual channel memory, so only buy RAM in identical pairs, to enable dual channel memory operation.
Get an 8GB dual kit (two x 4GB) DDR3 1600 G.Skill Ripjaws X Series or Corsair Vengeance ($50)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 (8GB two x 4GB)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 (8GB two x 4GB)
GRAPHICS CARD: at least a GeForce GTX460 Fermi or AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6790 (or better), choose any with a 2200 score or higher from this benchmark list:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
The best graphics card would be GeForce GTX680 or GTX580
HARD DRIVE (HDD): 1TB Seagate Barracuda or Samsung Spinpoint SATA III (6.0Gb/s) 7200rpm, 64MB Cache hard drive ($115)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840
PSU: A good power supply, 600 watts or bigger (depends on the graphics card you choose), 80 plus certified form Thermaltake, Enermax, Cooler Master, Antech, Corsair or OCZ.
PC CASE: Any PC Case (full or mid tower), with bottom mount for the power supply, either ATX or μATX (micro ATX) size.
I recommend either any of the Sentey Series (Sentey Extreme Division Arvina is what I got) or Cooler Master HAF ($60 to $150)
http://www.newegg.com/Store/Brand.aspx?Brand=13670&name=The-Sentey-at-Newegg&Tpk=Sentey
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=haf&x=0&y=0
OPTICAL DRIVE: any cheap $15 to $25 DVD multi writer drive
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM for your operating system ($100):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986

Cost: From $800 on up to over $1500, depending on processor, graphics card, power supply and case you choose.

A good, full HD 1080p (1920x1080), LED backlit 27inch monitor will cost you around $260 to over $300.
Any cheap USB mouse and keyboard for about $30 to $50, or spend more for expensive gaming style ones.

Good luck.

The only other viable solution would be to custom order a gaming PC from places like AVADirect, iBuyPower, CyberPowerPC and such. They will build a gaming PC with almost all specs of your choice but you will pay considerably more as if you build that yourself.
DO NOT buy Alienware, they are Dell crap and also way overpriced.

is a macbook or a custom built windows computer better for gaming ?
Q. So my friend and i are having this debate on who's computer is better. He has a macbook pro with a i5 3rd gen (might be a macbook pro 2012) while mine is a i7 2nd gen. Mine is built with a Cooler Master HAF 912. Specs are : 3.40Ghz - 3.70Ghz, 8gb RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Whos is better ? I dont know much about my computer because my father built it .

A. First, MacBooks have limited gaming titles available.
Second, With a GTX 560 ti, the only single graphics card laptop graphics above yours are:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M
AMD Radeon HD 7970M
NVIDIA Quadro K5000M*
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX*
AMD Radeon HD 7950M
Third, he probably spent a lot more on his MacBook than you did on your whole gaming system.
Fourth,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook_Pro
The top level MacBook Pro 15.6" with retina display for $3,749.00, is a lower level of graphics at GT 650M, than an $850 Lenovo Y580 which has GTX 660M graphics. and that is below a GTX 560 ti.

If he has the top graphics, which he does not, he would still be below a GTX 550 ti.

Your friend is in a dream world. Apple MacBooks are awful at gaming for the price level they are at.

Now, it is even worse than that. If he has an i5, he has the tiny 13" screen. He has no graphics card.
2.5 GHz (3210M) Intel Core i5 Passmark score 3875. The lowest CPU in desktops called an i7 is Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz score 5627
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
The only graphics in the 13" is Intel HD Graphics 4000
Your graphics is over 5 times his strength.
The only advantages of his is portability, and getting one of those fancy laptop skins that uses the Apply.

christian college with game design?

Q. I am looking for a christian college that has video game design

A. Most game design employers prefer that you majored in either computer science or software engineering. In addition, getting into game design is very difficult - if you've majored in something broader like computer science, you'll be able to work in another field, if you can't get into game design right away. But if you major in game design, you may find yourself stuck, because that is so narrow.

So one idea, to help you find more colleges, is to widen your focus to computer science, as well as game design. You can use the college search on www.collegeboard.com to find colleges that offer the majors you want and are also Christian.

Game Design or Computer Science?
Q. I am very confused as to what to pursue. I am in NO way an artist, however with college they may teach me how to draw better. I am in my second semester and am still doing geneds because I am unsure of my major, but I am thinking of going into the gaming industry.

My question is what part of the gaming industry should I go for? I am a very creative person and can imagine up some crazy ideas, however expressing them in art may be a challenge since I am no artist. Will art software be a proper substitute though for an inability to draw on paper? The best I can draw are stick figures lol.

I also know how to do a bit of scripting and triggering, specifically with world/map editors, such as the ones in Warcraft/Starcraft. I have looked up the BSc in Computer Science but I know that course requires lots of math/logic. I dont like math, so I don't know if the technical side is for me.

The concept method(Design) doesn't really require any math, just a lot of fine arts and humanities.

If there is anyone that has been in a similar situation or has a BSc in Computer Science or Game/Art Design, please help me out!!

Thank you very much!!!

A. Many game players are very excited about the idea that they might help use their experiences playing many different games and their talents in knowing which are really playable and which are not to help develop new games. Most everyone with lots of experience playing have really good ideas, too, that they feel would help make a great game.

The reality is that the professional level that game development is at today is very demanding in terms of skills and experience. The road for making major contributions long. You can either start walking that road, but remembering that you must start at the beginning and expect this to be a very long road requiring great determination from you -- more than you realize now -- or else you will have to accept the idea of being a minor cog in a big machine until you gain enough of a specialty to get recognized.

I don't know how the budgets are spent right now, but many years ago when I was more involved in game development, perhaps 50% of the budget went towards artists and the development of 3D world structures and texture maps and so on. None of that included the game physics engine, animation mechanics, display support and general coding, which was probably another 30%. Then there was music and sounds, admin, advertizing and packaging and a host of other bits and pieces. The total budgets are sometimes quite huge, too.

You are right. Under normal circumstances, a BSc in Computer Science might have some math to learn. But if your goal is to program modern games, you will need more math than most getting such a degree. Even in cases where the game physics and drawing engine is already built, you will need to at least have good passing knowledge of how it works to use it well. Do you know what a quaternion is or why you might care or how to use them even if you don't write the underlying code that manipulates them? Most BSc in Computer Science will have zero knowledge of them. Yet you may need to at least know something about them. You would need to get over your fear (I think anyone can learn this stuff, if they apply themselves) and engage this stuff if that is the direction for you. You can do it. But it is a long road and a hard one and you will need true dedication to survive the trials.

You can draw "stick figures." Without a talent in art, that aces you out of much of the game development side where much of the money is spent (or was, anyway.) But again, I think most people can develop a skill there. Some have more natural talents and may find it easier, but just as in the case with math I think sincere dedication can get you there, too. If that is the direction you choose.

Okay. So now to the nitty gritty -- game ideas. I know you won't want to hear this, but it's not just that ideas are a dime a dozen ... but it is true that really GOOD ideas are a dime a dozen. Even if you are a fountain of ONLY GOOD IDEAS, they will still be valued at a dime a dozen. Why? Because producing a game is so very expensive in terms of labor. There are tens of thousands of times more "really good ideas" out there than there is money and time to implement them. Because the capacity to implement is in such short supply, the hopper is already filled to the brim with good ideas. Adding more won't make much difference to anyone. As a result there is a ruthless process of throwing away very good ideas to get down to the extremely, shockingly, absolutely unbelievably good ideas. And even then, most of them when implemented go nowhere fast and die.

Game development is a brutal world.

Is this a good computer for web surfing and online gaming?

Q. Processor: 2.8GHz Intel Core i5
Apple Imac 27 inch 2010 version
Memory: 4GB
Storage: 1TB hard drive
Optical Drive: DVD±RW

Monitor: 27-inch integrated LCD (2,560x1,440 native resolution)
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1GB)
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
my main focus is online gaming. specifically the game Combat Arms.

A. Lol, these guys don't know what they're saying. Your rig is fine. 4gb is more than enough to play every game that's out there today and Random access memory (RAM) is not THAT important. Your CPU and GPU both need to be good and the ones you have are fine. You can web surf on a calculator these days, don't worry about that. Online games like COD mw2 and Battlefield BC2 would run just fine if you had these specs on a PC. Macs aren't for gaming so if you havent bought it yet, don't. Don't be surprised if that in 2 years time, you wont be able to handle the newest games because technology moves fast and unfortunately, you have to move with it.

I want to build a budget gaming computer to run world of warcraft cataclysm?

Q. I do not know how to find compatible components to build a computer and I was hoping it could be under $400 to run World of Warcraft Cataclysm. Can you guys link me parts of everything I need and possibly from Newegg?

A. Easily. Contrary to what most people say you don't need a super computer to run games. Stick with AMD Processors, Get a name brand (MSI, Gigabyte, AsRock) motherboard, and try to go for dated, but not obsolete hardware. Pretty much anything with a PCIE16 slot (that's where your graphics card goes) and at least two gig of ram in dual channel mode can run MOST games acceptably. Just research what other people have to say about hardware, and don't splurge on any one component, IE an economy processor and mother board with a cutting edge graphics card is just about as useless as an awesome 6 core system with onboard graphics, you just spent more for one.

Oh, and seriously don't expect anyone who has a bunch of bright blue LED's all over the inside of his rig with computer that looks like a spaceship to actually know how to build a computer.

I'm running WoW rather smoothly on an HP Pavilion that I found in the trash and threw a dual core processor and an ATI 5750 in. Total investment 168 dollars.

World of Warcraft gaming computer?
Q. http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gamer_Mage_D235

i am trying to buy a computer for my son but I don't know too much about computers. I was wondering if this computer would good for World of Warcraft and if you know a better computer thats around $600 then please put a link to it

A. I would say no because World of Warcraft is a pretty low graphic game. You don't need something like that to play it a normal business laptop or desktop will be perfectly fine. Secondly, don't buy computers that is not main stream. The chance of you running into troubles and the cost to fix it would be a lot high than if you were to buy from Dell or Sony. Now my suggestion are for WOW specifically. If you want to also play others games like Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, or other high end games then maybe a gaming computer might be more suitable for you. I hope this help. Good luck picking your computer.

Xbox360 game like league of legends?

Q. I am wondering if there is a game in the xbox live marketplace thats the same as league of legends.

A. Not yet, the style of game that League of Legends is, is pretty much only found on computers.

There is a Lord of the Rings based game coming out next year called Guardians of Middle Earth that is the same style of game as League of Legends and it will be the first console game of this genre.

Whats league of legends? what game is this?
Q. i saw two guys playing a game on a website i think its called wartime.e2games or something like that im probably wrong. im assuming the game is free because they where playing it on a college computer. i saw that they would send out there character to walk around like what you do in starcraft but when they battle they fight one on one and the screen switches to something like streetfighter. they where also sending messages to eachother on the game. and when they where battling one did a lightning bolt and when one of the guys won it would say victory on the screen. was this league of legends? or what games was this????

A. Nooooooo league of legends is nothing like that, this is league of legends http://beta.na.leagueoflegends.com, no idea what that game is though
