Can you play a PC game made for Windows 98 on Windows 7?

Q. I have a whole bunch of games for my desk top computer that we play. I am getting ready toget my husband a laptop and he plays these games a lot. Most of the laptops now come with Windows 7. Will my games play on Windows 7 made for Windows 98? If not, does anyone know what I need to run these games on a new laptop? Thank you!

A. Yes you can play Windows 98 games on Windows 7! After installing the game, Right click the game icon and click Properties, now go to the Compatibility tab and check 'Run this program in compatibility more for' and choose Windows 98, also at the bottom, check 'Run this program as an administrator'

Hope I Helped :)

What is the best desk top for gaming?
Q. I am looking to purchase a desk top computer for my 17 year old son who enjoys playing games on his computer as well as using it for homework, internet, etc. What is a good choice, what are the important components to support gaming, any specific site recommendations or brands/sites to avoid? I am a single mom on a budget (hoping for under $1500.00) so value is important to me as well as warranty but I want to get a computer that will last, he will use it for college next year. Thank you!

A. The Best one i suggest is the dell xps dimension with dual xeon processor check out it if you litlle out of budget then you may buy AMD BASED XFX SYSTEM

I would like to make this computer game for kids but I am having trouble getting people interested for funding?

Q. I am preparing to make a free and open-license computer game for kids that is based on the same concept as most of the popular grade level-based children's games like JumpStart, Reader Rabbit, ClueFinders, etc. I am planning on including high-quality character artwork and animation using voiced characters. Since incorporating these elements costs money, I have set up a donation webpage on GoFundMe so that people can donate money to me for this project. However, I am having trouble getting my project noticed by the public so that my project can shine on the web and garner financial support from interested persons. I have tried Facebook but I only have a limited circle of friends and they might not be able to financially support my project. What are some names of good venues for spreading the word about my project so that I can get my need for donations for my project across to the public? If you can help me, that would be greatly appreciated.

A. Promote the game at local places like schools & Libraries out on YouTube

What is the best gaming computer?
Q. I heard that Asus is one of the best gaming computers. But I am not sure I would prefer something other than a Dell/Alien-Ware. I play mine craft so I need something with great graphics and really fast processing.

A. NO OFFENSE,

But only a completely uneducated person would shop for computers by brand..
In fact I think you are referring to laptops here. I don't why all kids keep calling them computers?

Alienware is overpriced and Dell sucks, if you want to get down to brands.

Always look at the specs and the price, not the brand.

Can you pay for computer games at the self checkout in walmart?
Q. i know you cant buy phone cards but can you buy computer games?

A. Yes, but if the game has an R rating, a cashier may have to come over and verfiy your ID....However, I'm not sure about your area, but where I live, anything you purchase from electronics, you're required to pay for it in that department., and the same still goes for the ID.

Is computer science different from Computer gaming simulation and web designing?

Q. Because in the future I am going to be focusing on computer game simulation and web designing. Is it different or the same?!!

A. Computer Science is the general subject involving computers. This can range from programming to Computer Networking to even the Hardware of the computer. Computer gaming is part of programming which is part of Computer Science. Web designing is part of web developing which is part of programming.

Contrary to the other answer Web Developing is programming because barely any sites today are made without a server-side language and without Javascript being used. Raw static HTML files are pretty much a thing of the past.

What kind of components and such would i need to build a computer specifically for gaming?
Q. i i know theres a lot of stuff for computers but i want recommendations on what hardware and components to make a custom computer that does the gaming at high levels like the best graphic and gameplay for any computer game (like starcraft 2). budget isen't really a concern i just want to know what to look for.

A. I'll make this very simple. You haven't got to know what it means, it's just something to look out for. Price may be very expensive depending on the hardware you chose. Please bare in mind when you reach a certain point, small upgrades become very very expensive just for that little boost.

CPU - Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 @ 2.66GHz or faster (or 2.4GHz i7 or better)
RAM - 4GB DDR2 Minimum, best to go 1333MHz DDR3 4-8GB
Graphics - at least 1GB graphics best to be 1.5-2.0GB at fastest possible MHz
Sound - depends on your speakers. You shouldn't be paying more than £40 tops ($68) for a sound card
Motherboard - intel extreme (one that supports i7) this supports the full 1333MHz ram too
Case - your choice of case depending on taste. Ensure that there is plenty of room for ventilation and lots of fan spaces. Style should not outweigh function
Monitor - any monitor that supports 1920 x 1080 natively. Any higher and your games will have to be upscaled and will become blurry and horrible to play.
Keyboard and mouse - your choice on comfort and style, generally gamers prefer wireless devices.
Hard drive - 500Gb - 2Tb , this will vary depending what you store on the computer. Most people can get by on 500-1tb, but if you're a music or movie freak with tons and tons of data, you might wanna get a 2tb drive or 2 x 1tb drives. Make sure they are SATA 7200RPM or faster. If you chose Solid state you will be paying a LOT and you won't get as much space, but the performance will be epic
DVD drive. - 2 is preferred, or 2 blu ray supported drives with speeds of a minimum of 24x
Speakers, I'd reccomend creative surround studio, (and creative soundcard to match) to get really decent sound. Creative know their sound stuff.

Hope this helps, and happy shopping

What is a good laptop for both gaming and school?

Q. I want a computer that's good for both gaming and school. So it should be light enough to carry around, but still quiet good.

A. The market is big for this kind of subject.

I would personally suggest a HP- the 8GB RAM Quad core version is more than enough for Video games, and comes in at under 500 pounds.

Alienwares are good but pricey, and they tend to overheat, which is a problem if you're playing on your lap (which I always do).

Acers are good. They are light, often come with good graphics cards, and are cheap too.

If you're in America, and have no budget- GET A RAZORBLADE Gaming Laptop. They are the best, and I know this from personal experience. They can run really heavy duty games without the slightest catch, have a long battery life, awesome screen and a light weight.

What is a cheap computer that's great for gaming?
Q. I want a computer from 300 to 500 that is really good for gaming.
Thanks for your help.

A. To get a game PC cheap you need to build one yourself really. If you're new to this then don't be scared to to it, it really is just a case of plugging each thing into each other.

I am literally going to order the parts to built my own this week (my very first build) and this is what I was planning to get:

(it's a litttle over 500 pound but you can get half the stuff from an old PC if you have one)
Biostar AM3 motherboard with 790GX chipset
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Quad-Core Processor (3.2Ghz)
4GB DDR3 RAM 1333mhz
500GB 700rpm HDD
ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB (Sapphire) Graphics
Trust SC-7600 Sound card
Colors-IT 750w Gold 12CM Silent Power Supply

I'm getting all this off Amazon.co.uk for really good prices. In total + delivery inc VAT its only £686.75, which compared to the other gaming PCs (costing thousands) is pretty good. Don't forget you will need to buy a heatsync for your processor too, and a case with a fan, and maybe a wireless network card. I am getting these off my old PC so I haven't got prices for them, but in total they should only add about £100 extra unless you want a really glamorous case.

What are the advantages and disadvantage of using Computer Monitor as TV?
Q. What are the advantages and disadvantage of using Computer Monitor as TV?
To be specific:
1. How about quality of image? [Refreshing Rate]
2. How about watching movie for a long time (Which one is worse)
3. Which one is power / energy saver?

A. 1. Quality of image is based upon your video card.

2. If you have a bigger screen and a couch or comfortable chair across the room it is cool.
Or a laptop on a table or dresser near to your bed and use the mouse for controller (laser mouse works best for this)

3. If you choose to integrate your cinematic experience to your computer screen or vice-versa it will be efficient on costs. Especially if you buy you one of them big ol' flat screens for your living room and tie in everything from your computer to video game console to entertainment syetem etc. and controll it via wireless keyboard and mouse

How can I split sound from one PC to two different speaker systems?

Q. I would like to be able to play a game on my computer and get the computer/game sounds on my computer speakers. And at the same time play a movie in Windows Media Player (or similar software) and get only the sound from the movie connected to the TV or an amplifier.

What do I need to make this possible? At the moment I have a computer with an integrated soundcard on my motherboard.

A. I would say buy a Jack splitter at any radio shack, it should be a couple of bucks and set one sound lower than the other.

What is the best processor, mother board, video card, and etc.for computer gaming desktop?
Q. Im planning to put a computer gaming shop business. Please give me advice on whats the most affordable but best set up of computer I can assemble.please be specific.im really not a tech person.

A. It is all very budget dependent. Here is a nice $1000 part set if putting it together yourself, and be sure to watch youtube videos and work on a non-static flat big surface and wear gloves or ground yourself and never force things together.

CPU Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz 4 cores, 4 threads since gaming does not use hyperthreading nor more than 4 cores.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler - a good value for overclocking the CPU. It is tall, but very efficient and priced well.
Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 Motherboard - supports overclocking, and has 2 slots of pciex16 to possibly add a second GPU in SLI at another time for crossfiring instead of replacing the graphics card as you would in a 1 slot system.
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 The right amount for gaming in the right speed for the CPU and is a good brand 1.5V with heat spreader in CAS 9
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - fairly reliable bulk storage in a good size of a terrabyte
Sandisk 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk - to hold Windows and a few games for fast load and top performance. Can use half in partition for Intel RST/SRT HDD acceleration if preferred.
Video Card Galaxy GeForce GTX 660 2GB - Highly rated solid performer. I did not look up its status for SLI vs crossfire
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/660?vs=548
Cooler Master Storm Enforcer ATX Mid Tower Case - Nice looking case with good air flow and roomy. Starts with only 2 fans as adequate, but could add a top fan. There are many good choices of cases. Has USB 2 and 3 and audio ports.
Rosewill Green 630W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Decent enough as a single rail (one +12V as preferred) with a 6 and 6+2 pcie connector set and since GTX 660 needs only one, should be enough for crossfire one day without changing it. 50A (600 watts) on 12V to power GPU, CPU, fans and disk drives. There are better and worse PSUs but this is surely at least adequate and more.
Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer - any DVDRW
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
gamers prefer Win 7
Still need keyboard, mouse, audio output (speakers/headphones), and a display

Found out the error 43 has to do with a bad ipod touch cable. The audio problem is still going on.

A. Type services.msc on search and go to Windows Audio. check the service has stopped. If it is stopped try starting them again.

Q. Is this a good custom gaming computer configuration? I made it on Cyberpower and tried to make the best of it by taking up the "Back to school deals". I also made a few sacrifices here and there (such as not taking the care package thing for shipping). Is there anything I don't need (such as some of the noise reduction things)?

Any suggestions on a better build? Also, how long does the "back to school" megasale last?
Sorry about the other details that say "none". Just ignore those. Also, instead of an i7 what if I changed it for an i5 3570k? I'm hoping to build a computer that will not only last a long time but play future high-end games and MMORPGs.
And I have a monitor...

A. Willie,

Its all good, other than building a rig yourself you can't do much better, your GTX570 is the biggest bang for your GPU buck until the Kepler powered GTX660 comes out, and even then it might still be the better buy. By adding the pro wiring and sound insulation your hoping to get more care taken from the builder, its not big bucks so why not.

Performance Analysis

With the addition of numbers for the Intel Core i3-2100 and Core i5-2400 in some of our benchmarks, it's plain to see that even with a price cut, the FX-8120 struggles in most of our tests. In very multi-threaded tests such as Cinebench and WPrime, it just about manages to hold its own against the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 - slightly ahead in WPrime, a little behind in Cinebench and noticeably faster than the cheaper Core i3-2100. The Core i5-3570K is much faster in both tests, but then it costs around £30 more.

Our image editing test was a real let down with the FX-8120. It came bottom of the graph, being trounced by a staggering 500 points by the Core i3-2100 - a CPU that costs just £90. Even the ageing AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition was considerably faster while the similarly priced Intel Core i5-2400 was nearly twice as fast. Clearly, if you do any amount of photo editing, the AMD FX-8120 represents particularly poor value.

With eight cores at its disposal, you'd think the FX-8120 might stand a good chance in our video encoding test. Sadly this wasn't to be and its score of 2,150 was over 400 points short of the Core i5-2400. Thankfully for the FX-8120, the Core i3-2100 was noticeably slower, with its two physical and two virtual cores not able to keep up.

Everything started to fall away from the FX-8120 again in our multi-tasking test, where it was yet again at the bottom of the pile, coming 100 points short of the much cheaper Core i3-2100, while the Core i5-2400 was nearly 50% faster - pretty damning result. Overall, it was no surprise to see the FX-8120 rock bottom, bettered by the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition and Core i3-2100 and trounced by the Core i5-2400.

Our game test lacks data for the two Sandy Bridge CPUs as we tested these some time ago, however, with the Intel Core i5-3570K retailing for just £30-40 more, it's clear from our results that the FX-8120 isn't a great buy for games either. The Intel CPU was 60 per cent faster in Arma II while costing around 30 per cent more - not a bad rate of return if you can afford the extra layout.

Conclusion,

Sadly, its more of the same bad news for AMD or anyone with a Socket AM3+ motherboard looking for a decent CPU for around the £150 mark. The FX-8120 just isn't a good choice when it comes to the kind of applications we run on our PCs. It's regularly outpaced by far cheaper Intel dual-core CPUs, while the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 is significantly faster in many of our tests. It's not all bad news for AMD - before we get accused of being biased towards Intel, we have no qualms recommending the A8-3870K for those looking to build a budget gaming PC, while we also recommend many of its graphics cards. Do drop the CPU OC its so easy why pay for it.

As it stands, the FX-8120 will have to be a lot cheaper for it to be worth considering over an equivalently-priced Intel setup, while owners of the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition can rest assured that there aren't any worthwhile upgrades yet.

To save some bucks now going to a i5 3570k is a great idea and go with the cheapest GPU for now or if you have one already use it till the Kepler power GTX660 comes out.

I do recommend building your own rig not buying, you will have fun learning and taking control of your computational needs, and get more gaming power for your buck. I have added a few more links, hope they help.

Where can I find a good gaming computer for less than $900?

Q. Ok so my husband and I are looking for a gaming computer. We would like for it to have at least 4GB Memory and 500GB Hard Drive for under $900. Any ideas?

A. Well i would suggest looking around newegg.com they have some really nice completes for around that price.

Here is a stable computer for what you want for only $800

What is the best choice for a multimedia pc?
Q. I'm basically looking for a computer under 900 euros, with room for improvement,
Like i want dual monitors and maybe improve the graphics card.
I would also like to have at least 500 GB of hard drive. And a good processor for gaming, not the extreme games, but just average games.

Also, what could be the best graphics card for that computer in a price range of 500 euros?

A. Use a Mother board with integrated graphics card!!!!!
Dual Core 2nd Gen. or core i3 in case of AMD athon X2
if you want to make this cheaper then go for AMD Processor!!!!!!
500 GB - 1TB HDD,

what kind of gaming computer is best for a 500 budget?

Q. i am look to build or buy a gaming computer for under a budget of 500 dollars. I know nothing about computers but I want one because of the low costing games and the high graphics. What would you parts or computer would you recommend and are there any videos on how to make the computer if need and thanks for the help

A. There are plenty of videos on building computers, just search youtube. For the parts, I'd recommend a Core i3 2100 CPU, a Geforce 400 series or Radeon 5000 series for the GPU, About 4 GBs of RAM, ~500GB of hard drive space, a 500 Watt or so Power Supply, good DVD burner, Raidmax cases are pretty good, and for the motherboard, just pick something that matches the rest of your choices.

What is the best gaming computer under $500 dollars?
Q. I am looking for a computer that I can play games on, run editing software such as Adobe premiere, Adobe after effects, and twixtor. Also I want to be able to run games smoothly such as startcraft 2, Minecraft, and WoW. I was looking at the Asus CM1745-US007S but I don't know how good AMD processors are for what I want.

A. For under $500 dollars, you are automatically looking at amd processors or a cheap i3 processor from intel. Amd processors get the job done, but people prefer intel more because it's faster.
Since this is such a tight budget, i recommend building a computer yourself compared to places that sell computers, like Bestbuy are no good. All of their computers in the hundreds price are mainly for browsing and storage.

A. these are OK for gaming if you dint mind the this style. im on my second pair (first lasted about 5 years then i accidental pulled out the cord) says suggested retail of $34 but i payed about $16 new

How do I fix my Computers headphones?
Q. Okay I have gaming headphones with the mic. They got unplugged and I have tried restarting my computer, plugging them in again, and trying other headphones... The volume is all the way up! Please help!

A. What exactly is the problem? They're quiet? Your gaming headphones don't work?

If the way that they were "got unplugged" caused the wire to get damaged, you just gotta buy new ones (sorry).

Otherwise, just try making sure they're pushed in all the way, the program/computer/headphone is not muted, or common things like that.

How good is the compaq presario sr5710f?

Q. I am looking for something under 500 dollars and this one caught my eye. Is it a decent computer for gaming, etc.?

A. Current Dell deals,

http://www.techbargains.com/dellcoupons.cfm

For example, one current sale is a Dell Vostro 220, with an E7500 CPU (Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz) and 22" LCD monitor for $409,

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&kc=&oc=brcwa1p&dgc=BF&cid=27740&lid=1204709&acd=10689810-227502-A11A0C173848E1A01173691A0

The Vostro 220 comes with a smallish 300W power supply (with only 18A on a single +12V rail), but I suspect this low powered version 9600GT would still run. You would just have to try it, and see how stable it is. (If it's not 100% stable, you would need to upgrade the power supply as well, for about $50 more.)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130485

Considering the price range, an E7500 CPU and 9600GT video card would run games quite well.

How can I get items on the grand exchange on runescape?

Q. I know the basics, and all, like I know how to buy them. But some times it doesn't buy. It's mostly with expensive things. I wanted to buy rune gold trimmed plate legs, and I buy it, and the bar doesn't go green until the next day. How can I make it go faster please?

runescape
video game
computer
games computer games

A. You can't. The grand exchange isn't magical. The item you look to buy has to actually be provided by a player, it's not generated. Even then the exchange then sells the item according to an equation of highest bid/longest running bid as to who gets the item. The only way to get it sooner is to attempt to pay far over the market value, and even then it is no guarantee.

Would a gaming mouse improve aiming accuracy in computer games?

Q. like in planetside 2, my wireless mouse keeps over-aiming other people. I'm pretty new to computer games so is it just me or will a gaming mouse help me aim better?

A. The best thing to do before you get a gaming mouse (which I would anyway) is to go to you mouse configuration. Hopefully the mouse is at least 1600 DPI, that dictates how smooth the mouse moves. You also should turn up mouse sensitivity in the mouse settings, and lower in games.
Make sure mouse acceleration is off too, that could be the problem. If you get a gaming mouse get something with at least 5600 DPI.

What can I do about my kids addiction to internet gaming, but they need the internet to study.?
Q. I have two children, 12 and 14, and they both have their own laptops. With the way schools are heading, kids almost require internet access for studies. The problem is that my kids are playing games more than they're studying and their grades are suffering severely.

We can't ALWAYS be there to monitor what both of my kids are doing on the internet, and with our jobs, we can't drive them back and forth to a library so many times.

Since internet access is a requirement for scholarly studies, how can I block access to internet games and computer games without blocking the use of internet for study?

I don't want to completely deprive them of fun time, but limiting the amount of time or scheduling would be desireable.

Please know that my son is very computer savvy and can find ways around certain parental controls.

Is there a program that I can use that will start upon bootup so that my son can't mess with the configurations?

A. NetNanny was recently acquired by ContentWatch (designed for employers). It has session ghosting with remote administration and controls.

If your kid mucks around with it to cover their tracks, you'll know.

Or create admin and user accounts and disable the port range on your router and firewall for gaming. That would stop them.

How would I go about creating a computer game for kids?

Q. I would like to create an educational computer game for kids and then market the game and have the proceeds go to a non-profit organization.

A. I would recommend researching other educational games through online searches and whatnot, and contacting the publishers of these games with this question.

This is a very broad question... but generally, computer games are a lot like books and movies. You have the publisher, which is the company that dishes out the money to get the ball rolling, and expects a large chunk of the profits. You have the writer, who comes up with the ideas and formulates them into a story/storyline, then you have the screenwriter, who adapts the story to what can actually work in a computer game, then you have the graphics artists/designers, and programmers to make the game do what you want it to.

Those are the basics, and depending on the scale of game, there could definitely be a lot more categories and people involved in its creation.

It also depends on what you want to educate kids about in your game. There are some publishers that are solely dedicated to publishing games in specific topics and areas. That may aid you in your research as well.

How can you manage both course books and novels and on top of that computer games?

What are some Top-of-the-line Gaming Headsets for PC?

Q. I'm looking for some good gaming headsets for PC (I prefer Turtle Beach) with an attached microphone that are price no more than 100 bucks. I would like surround sound and preferably wireless with a cool looking exterior color on the headset ( looking for green to match my computer box). What would you suggest? Maybe from past experience or ones your using now, or etc. Would like alot of suggestions. Thanks.

A. I'll recommend a Logitech headset, which supports both PC and laptops, with surround sound. Here you can find an actual user comment on the headset:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R33RHDJ3GHVG6O/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003VANOFY&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=armas9-20

This is a wireless headset, with surround sound and almost all of your other required features and it is within your price range.

Turtle Beaches are great headsets but they are most popular for console usage not many PC users prefer them. For PC usage the best headsets are Astro A40 / A50, one and Sennheiser headsets are very popular. Few high end Razer and Steelseries are also quite popular these days. If you still insist on Turtle Beach then I'll suggest you can check out Ear force PX22 (wired) or Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Black Ops II X-RAY Wireless Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset both are within your price range and are good headsets.

Here is a nice $1000 part set if putting it together yourself, and be sure to watch youtube videos and work on a non-static flat big surface and wear gloves or ground yourself and never force things together.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zWjz

How much would i need to build a gaming computer?

Q. I have about 500 dollars to spend on building a game computer right now would that be enough and what all would i need?

A. Most likely not.

You need lots of RAM, Video RAM and hard drive for a gaming PC.

You can buy a normal PC for $500 and upgrade individual pieces as you earned more money.

Cheers!

I want a good gaming computer for around 500-600 dollars?
Q. I would like a gaming computer that could run minecraft, Arma 2, and Guild Wars 2 with high graphics. Can anyone help me with specs that include a monitor recommendation?

A. this is a 540$hp, currently out of stock but you can find it in other stores, can cerntanly play low-mid end games such as minecraft armour 2 and others , thats the whole reason i bougth it,

check out game debate, there you can search up games requirments and you will see the desktop below beats them or is right below them but not by much and you can always upgrade the graphics card and maybe do crossfire and play games like skyrim gta5 saints row 3, not that you cant already with the below desktop just that you will probably have to sacrifice some graphics in order to play with decent game frames but i assume not by much

AMD Radeon HD 7560D Discrete Graphics With up to 4059MB total available graphics memory it has way better graphics unit then a GeForce 310 by far and i mean it beats the crap out of the 310.

and it has AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated processor 3.20GHz, 4MB L2 Cache which also beats the crap out of most i5 processors but some i5 processors are stil la bit better, depends on which,

even though it has no screens you can fijnd a pretty good one for $88 which would put you around for $630 in total ,
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dell-Exact-model-may-vary/21009304 , this is a very high deph screen and pretty decent size for $88, that is cheap compared to the others i researched , the 1280 x 1024 resolution is pretty mighty plus the dvi-d fits the desktop
heres some general info

AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated processor
3.20GHz, 4MB L2 Cache

8GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 32GB)
Gives you the power to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work

1TB SATA hard drive
Store 666,000 photos, 285,000 songs or 526 hours of HD video and more

SuperMulti DVD Burner
Watch movies, and read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats

10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN
Connect to a broadband modem with wired Ethernet or wirelessly connect to a Wi-Fi signal or hotspot with the 802.11b/g/n connection built into your PC

AMD Radeon HD 7560D Discrete Graphics
With up to 4059MB total available graphics memory

now if you dont beielve this one is better then the one mentioned by the other guy look the parts up here http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ for the video cards, the one in this hp are in the high end and the geforce 310 are in medium- range, http://www.cpubenchmark.net/ , for hte cpu, there are a lot of i5 processors but only one a8-5500 , quick way to search them is clicking ctrl+ f then just type in the main namel ike a8-5500 and bam.

what is the best deal i can get on a new desktop for under $700?

Q. im looking for a new desktop with the most memory, the best processor, etc. im not planning on using this computer for gaming, however i would prefer the computer to have Microsoft XP, and programs such as Office and excell. the price range im aiming for is under $700

A. You can get a very good PC for that money. However, you aren't going to find a brand nw PC with XP. XP no longer comes pre-installed on new models. Don't be afraid of Vista
especially if you're only going by here-say and not from actual experience with Vista. Vista has improved imensely since it was introduced. I wouldn't own a PC without it! I haven't had any problems at all.
I just bought an HP at Circuit City and they had all kinds of desktops for $700.00 or less. The staff at the store I went to was extremely helpful yet, not pushy.
Here is a whole page under $600.00:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Desktop-computers/sem/rpsm/catOid/-12962/N/20012961+20012962+312962001/link/ref/rpem/ccd/categorylist.do
There are a few on this page too:

Good luck

Where can I find a desktop computer that is under 700 dollars?
Q. I'm looking for a new desktop computer. I would like to have a desktop computer that is at least under 700 dollars. I would like it to have an octo- core processor. If I can't find a desktop computer that has a octo- core processor within my budget then I would like to find a desktop computer that can be MAJORLY upgraded. I would also like to have a desktop computer that has at least 4g of RAM. Also I would like to have a good graphics card. If I can't get a good graphics card already with the computer then I will buy one separately. So if I could get a least of computers that fit this description that would be nice. Even if the computer is over 700 dollars you can still list it.

A. http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gamer_Mage_D415has 809
http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gamer_Mage_D295 930
the GPU is only 1GB, but very fast with atleast 1000 cores each, they both have AMD 8 core CPUs
this is enough for heavy gaming, the first one meets your specs perfectly,
the second one is improved, if your willing to pay extra
FYI the 8350 upgrade is free for a limited time

@ n/a, he wants a MODEL, stupid,

What do i need to be looking for in a desktop for a gaming computer?

Q. need something that will run the upcoming games.bf3 diablo3 SW:Old Republic. what graphics card/processor is capable
i have a 2008 model dell desktop... could i just buy and install a new graphics card?

A. Dell is not designed for games, in all ways. You can potentially add video card but very weak, because good ones will stress PSU and you have a crappy one that will burn in flames under stress of GTX 560 or so. Also they use slow RAM and bad heatsinks that can not handle too much load on the CPU. It's a bad ideal to upgrade DELL.
Get a real gaming computer, best price range is around $800-1000 with Phenom II X4 or Intel i5 Quad, 4GB RAM and up, GTX 550 or ATI 6770 and up video cards, good case, PSU and CPU cooler.

What is the cheapest gaming computer for BattleField 3?
Q. Hey I have a macbook (2008 macbook) and I want to get a secondary computer for aming because my mac stinks at that type of stuff so does anyone know any good, cheap, and reliable gaming computers that can ATLEAST support stuff like BF3 and other games. Any ideas?? Please don't just say IDK. Thanks in advance!!

--Austin

A. If you want the best bang for buck, go with Amd components (ATI graphics and black edition processors) ATI HD 5000 and 6000 series will definitely run it($100-400), and there's a six core, 3ghz amd processor for around $200. Add it all up with a compatible motherboard ($100-200), memory/hard drives($200-300), a case ($30-120), power supply and fan ($120-200), Extras ($~100). You're looking at $750 bare minimum to run it well.

I want to buy a windows computer mainly for gaming which one should I buy?
Q. I want to save up and buy a windows computer system mainly for the purpose of gaming, Which one should I buy, that's not extremely expensive, but not crappy?

A. Difficult to say w/o knowing your actual budget, this is a decent entry-level game rig

iBUYPOWER Gamer Power 908 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227134
$680

C2Q 8300 (2.5Ghz) w/ "tornado" high-performance HSF
4GB DDR2 800
Foxconn G31 motherboard
500GB SATAII
GeForce 9800GT 512MB
22X DL DVD+/-RW Drive
Raidmax mid-tower w/ window / fan side panel
NZXT 600W power supply
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Considering the price this is not so bad. That CPU fan should allow near 4Ghz clocks on the CPU should it feel "slow" over the next few years and the power supply should handle a GPU upgrade with ease.

cheers

Why are kids so preoccupied with computer games and texting more than wanting to do their home work?

Q. Why is it most of the time you have to yell at your kid to stop texting or playing these computer games, and if you block certain shows from them on the tv they always why,and tell my friends parents let them play as long as they want and watch what they want. Don't kids know that you as a parent always do things for their best interest. Tough sometimes being a single mom.

A. Because they don't realize that those things have no real value. So they rather do what's cool and what they see their friends doing. Most of the time the kids don't realize their parents only want what's in their best interest. It's fine for them to want to do things that are enjoyable.

But it's always important to remember work comes before play. And doing homework so you can get good grades so you can eventually get a good job is what's truly important. That's why it's so important for parents to be there to remind them this and give discipline.

What is a good headset for my computer, any recommendations?

Q. I'm looking for a headset that is around 25 dollar to maybe 59. I would also like one that is wireless or have a long cord. Also can game headsets work on a computer? I have a friend who is offering to sell me it for 40$.

A. Logitech makes awesome peripherals. Just search around their website and I am sure you will find something that fits your budget and your needs.

As far as I know, I don't think that gaming headsets for like an Xbox or a PS3 would be compatible with a computer.

Would a headset work if I buy it from another country?
Q. I live in Sweden and am in the market for a new gaming headset for PC. However, in Sweden things are more expensive but I have cousins in the states. I am wondering if they buy one there and send it, would it work on a Swedish computer? Also what is a good PC gaming headset between 50 and 100 dollars.

A. i will go for it as yes! all headphones will definitely work on all types of computer.

What kind of games are you looking forward to see on the Wii an year after it's release??

Q. Personally, I want to see more first shooters. I look forward to playing Red Steel--it should be awsome.

Other than that, I would have wanted the Wii to provide us with fun interactive games for all ages... I would have loved it if I'd have got my mother and my granny to use modern technology to do something other than cook, bake and cleaning the house all the time. I mean it's hard enough to get them to do something on the computers. So maybe the Wii will have fun games for everyone. Possibly family games! (For all ages and for non-gamers just like they promissed!!!)

Well that's the sort of thing I look forward on the Wii. How about you?? Games?? Ideas??? Tell me!

A. Zelda looks fun. I'll get it for the GC first but I'll eventually get it on the Wii. Metroid is going to play like a dream. Personally, I loved Trauma Center on the DS so I can't wait for Trauma Center on the Wii.

How much is it to build a Non-Gaming Computer?
Q. Hello i am 14 freshman in high school and always wanted to try to build my own computer. It has always interested me. But how much would it be? I don't really care about running games such as Battle Field 3 And Skyrim. I just want it to run internet pretty fast. So can anyone tell me the price in USD. Plus it would be my first time that i would build one. I just want it to save money and so my family can use it for internet.

A. You can build a nice pc for around 300$.
You can build a nice gaming pc for 800$+.
Note that you can upgrade as you go. Chances are, a year from now, your pc will be built for gaming. Most gamers buy new parts every couple months.

Why do arcade games never match up to the graphics of computer games?

Q. Though arcade games can look very impressive, they usually never have the level of graphics of computer games.

A. Because...
The average computer has a better graphics processor and more memory than the arcade game...oh, and a much better processor too.

Good Luck!

Using the Window Vista, can I still run computer games designed for Windows 98 and XP?
Q. Using the Window Vista, can I still run computer games designed for Windows 98 and XP, or would I have to rebuy everything for the Vista?

Also, just a quick extra question, does anyone know a good laptop that uses XP that is fast, great memory size, and still under $900?

Thanks!

A. Vista has a cool feature called compatibility mode. You can right click the game, go to properties, and run it under older settings from up to windows 95.

As for the pc, check this link.
