reference:effect of computer games?

Q.

A. The effects of computer games can be physical, psychological, as well as social.

Physical is the easiest to observe. People who play a disproportionate amount of video games are likely to be out of shape since they live a sedentary lifestyle. Also, heavy gamers are at higher risk for repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. It should be noted that some video games require some athleticism to play the game. An example is the popular Dance Dance Revolution which requires the player to use his feet to play which helps offset the health risks of a sedentary liefstyle, but introduces risk of injuries associated with constant running and jumping.

Some research suggests that violent video games can foster aggression. It is believed to be reinforced more than television and movies due to the interactive nature of the games.

Also, there is the risk of video game addiction where a person will put the need to continue playing over their need to sleep or eat. Suicide or death by exhaustion have been know to result from addiction.

However, there are some good effects of video games too:
Hand-eye coordination, problem solving skills, improving reading skills (read faster and/or better comprehension if the game is text intensive)

Computer games?
Q. If all video games are developed in a computer, then why don't the developers just go right ahead and release them on the pc? It's already made on it, then how hard can it be to release it on the pc?

A. A lot of them DO. It's called 'downloadable games'. If you look up individual small developers you'll find that as soon as the game is done, you can download it and play it.

However, finishing a game and putting it on your website doesn't get you as many customers as putting it in a box and putting it in stores where people who don't already know the game exists might find it. And it takes time to get it there (and not everyone can get a retail deal)

Or do you mean, why are console games not immediately released on PC? Well, with older consoles at least, the television resolution was much worse than the computer monitor resolution, so the graphics have to be redone. Also the control schemes are different (most PCs don't have joysticks) and people playing PC games want to be able to save more often than console gamers. So the game has to be reworked some to make a good PC version. And not all companies bother making PC versions because there is so much piracy - they figure their work would be wasted because so many people steal.

A. Yes, that configuration would play WoW and Borderlands 2 on ultra without lag.

But it's not the most cost-effective build for the money. You're burning money on things which don't improve performance and skimping in other areas you shouldn't.

First of all, dual GTX 550 Ti's is quite powerful. However, it's always better to have a single higher-end card than a pair of lesser cards running in SLI or Crossfire. SLI performance doesn't scale equally for all games. SLI/CF setups also experience more graphics driver glitches/bugs and also may run afoul of micro-stuttering. Instead of two GTX 550 Ti cards, you're better off with a single GTX 660, which can play top-end titles like BF3 on ultra at 1080p.

By the way, for WoW and Borderlands 2 on that 1366x768 monitor, even a single GTX 550 Ti is enough to run smoothly on ultra.

Second, AMD processors have weaker gaming performance than Intel. Core i5 is the best choice for gaming builds. Even Core i3 beats most AMD processors.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-8120-6100-4100_6.html#sect0

Third, putting 16GB of RAM into a gaming rig is just wasting money. No games utilize more than 4GB of RAM. With 8GB you've got enough to keep your rig future-proof for the next 3-4 years. Gaming requires a high-end graphics

Fourth, you want a good quality power supply- something from a top brand like Corsair or Antec, not the generic one.

Finally, why do you have a secondary hard drive of 500GB? There's no reason for it... and unless you're storing a TON of videos and music, 2TB isn't needed for your main drive. A 1TB drive would be plenty. You might consider an SSD for super-fast boot times along with a 1TB secondary drive, but that's a degree of decadence you might not be interested in ;)

Instead of starting with the Mega Special I, start with the Mega Special III (base price $825)

I suggest taking the air cooling option - Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO rather than liquid cooling. That's fine even for moderate overclocking (which isn't necessary with a Core i5) and is basically zero maintenance.

Upgrade to the Corsair TX650 power supply and 2GB GTX 660 (which is currently a free upgrade from the GTX 560 Ti)

Keep the default Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard and 8GB of 1600Mhz RAM... those are fine.

You can still chose the Raidmax Augusta case if you really like it... Otherwise the default Cooler Master HAF 912 is just as good and costs less.

Add 64-bit Windows 7, your Azza gaming keyboard and mouse, your 600W PMPO speakers (although I recommend at least getting the Creative T3130) and you're set.

You can choose their ultra care options, although they're pretty much a rip-off. The professional wiring option is pointless when you're running a single graphics card- there's PLENTY of space inside the case, no airflow problems. The ultra enhanced packaging is just some extra foam that won't really matter if the delivery guy tosses the box over a fence. Assuming it doesn't suffer some awful mishap, their standard packaging provides ample protection.

Even with the Thermal Fusion 400 compound and Professional wiring options, your total is $1207 before taxes/shipping, without monitor.

I advise AGAINST getting your monitor from CyberpowerPC, I don't really like their prices, or the models offered. Get that from Newegg or Amazon. For example, this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824113030

Or if you want a full 1080p monitor, this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316

So you spend less, for a better-performing system. Good luck!

I have 3gb of ram but I think some of it is being used by my integrated graphics card.
Please help as I have no idea what graphics card I could and will be ok to upgrade to.
Also, my processor? is that enough for the game? or do I need to upgrade that as well??
My PSU is 200-230 I think but if not I'm pretty sure it's not above 300.
Be great if you could include links to recommended components.

Please some one help!!

A. If you want a real gaming computer, you will need to upgrade your CPU to at least a dual core at 3.0 GHZ and get a graphics card that is above nvidia GTX 260 or ATI radeon HD 4650. Other than that, You can play some games on your PC for now. You may also need to upgrade your power sworce to 450 Watts or higher so you can support your graphics card.

Do PC games slow down the computer or destroy the computer?
Q. I have a Toshiba Satellite:L500D. Now-a-days it is starting to lag. And i know ive been playing alot of PC games. Does playing too much PC games cause the computer to crash or slow down its processing. I have noticed it takes a bit longer to open up almost any program. Is this because of too much computer gaming?

A. Computer games definitely do NOT destroy your computer. You might have too much disk space in use. I recommend checking how much disk space is available, I'd recommend having at least 10gb available at all times, even more if you can.

More than likely if your computer is lagging up, it's a memory issue. You could install more RAM to alleviate this. You also want to close out of any additional applications when you're not using them as they'll take up additional memory even if you do not have that window open.

The next best step is to simply restart your computer when it begins to lag out to give it a fresh start. Also remember to clean out the inside of your computer simply by buying a can of air and spraying all the excess dust out of the case so the computer can properly cool itself.

Does anyone remember this old computer game?

Q. It was kinda like pacman where this circle dude went around a maze eating pellets but it was like in outer space or something. And I remember clearly that the darth vader song was in one of the levels...I remember playing it along side Ray Man..But for the life of me cannot think of the name of this game...

A. I never heard of that. I ran across this blog the other day. There was a posting about Pacman games that are online. You may want to check it out.

Would this be a great gaming computer for 2013?
Q. I've been considering on buying, or building a computer for me. I am a big gamer and have had all my games on my Inspiron 14R 4010N and well with new games coming out it is behaving like a piece of crap. So this time I want to go with a desktop, will this run all my games and future ones? My types of games are Modern Warfare 2-3, Black Ops II, Battlefield 3, DayZ. I want to know if it will handle it fine, not looking for crazy insane lifelike quality of my games just something between sweet and eh.

This this is the computer:

A. Keep looking. You've landed firmly in "eh." AMD Quad-Core FX-4100 processor 3.60GHz and NVIDIA GeForce GT 610. A very low-end CPU paired with the absolute lowest end dedicated card that Nvidia makes. At least the two are a good match. Neither one is good. If $500 is your budget, you're going to be hard-pressed to get anything above .. eh. You really need to be in the range of $700-800 and even that's probably just above mediocre.

Gaming Computer?

Q. I need a very good gaming computer that wont lagg up when i play something like unreal tournament 3 or world of warcraft? Is there any cheap ones out there?

A. Very good gaming computers are more expensive, not cheaper than standard school/work models.... And desktops are cheaper than laptops.

Buying used from someone who's upgrading, you might get a deal.

Check out Cyber Power PC- they have nice gaming machines for less than major brands like Dell, Sony, etc...

If I got a new computer would I have to re-buy my World of Warcraft games?
Q. I'm thinking I might be getting a new laptop for Christmas. I currently have World of Warcraft and both expansions. If I wanted to play WoW on my new laptop, could I just install them off of the disks I already have, or would I have to re-buy them?

A. No you do not need to re-buy the game. There are a few ways to can get World of Warcraft onto your new computer, you can:

a) Copy the entire World of Warcraft directory from your old computer to you new computer, or
b) Install the game from the original game discs, and it'll need to download and apply all the patches, or
c) Download and install the game from World of Warcraft website, you'll need to login to your account in order to download the Universal Client from the following link:
https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/download_wow.html

The fastest and easiest would be option A over a local area / wireless network; unless you have a really large thumb drive (like 16gb).

I can not join yahoo game table?

Q.

A. This question does not belong in board games. It is a computer question and has nothing to do with the game of chess.

If you're question is about the "new, improved Yahoo Chess," or the old "standard Yahoo Chess", these online games are server-side applications and there is nothing you can do from the client side. While waiting for Yahoo to fix their problem, why not do an internet search for other providers of online chess?

If you question is about chess games you have downloaded from Yahoo Games, it is possible software on your computer is outdated, or files on your computer have become corrupted. First remove the old software; it's stored in a windows folder called "downloads," "program downloads" or something similar (unless you put it in another folder when you downloaded the original program.) If you have played this chess game before, then you have the chess program somewhere on your hard drive. Find the program and remove it. If it's listed in control panel, add/remove programs, use that feature; if not, then delete the program manually.

Next install your program back-up (you did make a back-up copy, didn't you?), or obtain a replacement copy if such a service is available from the seller. If you still cannot run the game, most likely you also need to update your version of Flash Player or Java. Both Adobe and Oracle constantly send reminders to upgrade these products for free, but people tend to ignore these until they have a problem. Navigate to the Adobe and/or Oracle download sites and follow their instructions carefully. Frequently you will need to uninstall the old version before you can download and install the newest version. Use Windows control panel, add/remove programs, to uninstall Flash and Java - do not attempt to do this manually (multiple hidden files.)

A. I'm about to build my next gaming PC for 1500 dollars as well. Your build is alright but a lot of extra things you don't need.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mXyv

That is the computer I'm going to build, it's been through dozens of edits by quite a few people and most people agree that it's solid. You might consider changing the case if you don't like it, it's pretty expensive but I picked it because I like it.

The HAF XM and the HAF 922 would both probably suffice but they are smaller and don't have nearly as much room for fancy cable management.

A lot of people will tell you to just get 8 gigs of RAM but I'd just go ahead and get 16, RAM is dirt cheap and IMO it's better to have too much than to little when it comes to RAM, so 16 gigs will keep you future proof for a long time. Especially if you want to play Battlefield 3, one of the most RAM intensive games known to man. That game has been known to commonly hit over 6-7 gigs of RAM in use because of how poorly coded it is, 8 gigs is the absolute minimum for that resource hog.

As the other said, lower down to an i5 3570k like I have in my build, the i7 is a waste of money if you don't do a lot of video editing. Most games don't even use Hyperthreading, and it can actually slow you down in games so it's better to not mess with the i7 unless you actually need it.

The 660 ti is a bit weak of a card too, and Nvidia is a poor choice right now. ATI cards are cheaper and better thanks to the recent drivers, and plus the ATI cards come with 3 free brand new games like Far Cry 3. Can't beat that deal IMO. The 7950 or 7970 GHz edition are a lot better choice than the 660 or 670, especially since the 7950 is cheaper and beats the 670 in benchmarks, and the 7970 is slightly higher and smokes it in benchmarks.

If you don't want to build it yourself you might use a site like EcollegePC (google it) to build it for you. They will let you pick your own custom parts out then they will build it for you for a small fee, then ship it to you. They are a very good site that a lot of people use when they don't want to build their own computer, and they have great customer service + warranty, and the fee is only like 50-100 bucks to build and ship it last I checked.

So once again, in case you missed the link the first time, This is my build that I've spent weeks streamlining.

Computer Mouse Problems?

Q. When I play some games, not all, my computer mouse seems to be off to the right. Like when I play Starmade, I have to click to the right of a menu button for it to actually register. I don't know why it does this, any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Computer Games?????????
Q. I'm looking for a new computer game to find but I can't decide which one. I'm looking for something like Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I own both Masquerade games, as well as Neverwinter Nights, a few of the Sims games, and CSI. I particularly like unique and scary, f****d up games. lol Any recommendations would be great. Thanks!!!!

A. silent hill 3
scary, bloody, with occult references, scary enemies

if you saw the movie silent hill then that probably gives you an idea of how the game is, but better and scarier

silent hill 2 is also very good
not silent hill 4

also doom 3, aliens vs. predator 2 is kinda scary (when you play as human), resident evil 4 (but you need a gamepad cause it doesn't support mouse), F.E.A.R., system shock 2 (its a classic), bioshock, and the suffering are just a few good scary games

remember to make sure your computer meets the recommended requirements for each game (not the minimum req's cause the games will play like crap)

yea it is from HT, too bad i cant afford its bigger brother http://www.ht.com.au/part/X2846-WKS-200-Intel-Core-i7-8GB-1.5TB-Win7-Pro/detail.hts :(

A. Yes it is great. I think the video card could be a bit better like a 270 or 280 but it's still a really nice video card especially with 1gb of built in ram on it.

This is a great computer for gaming so if you were thinking about getting it don't even think dude. This is good for everything you want don't even worry about that as long as you have the money for it.

is this a good computer for game capturing and video editing?
Q. 1.) Is this a good pc for game capturing and video editing

2.) this pc has no operating system so how will i install one?

A. First off, I cannot tell if "this" computer is good or not for game recording and video editing since you didn't tell me what PC you have. You should be looking for a gaming computer obviously with a sufficient CPU, GPU, and plenty of RAM.

If the PC you have does not have an operating system, you need to go buy one. Or pirate it... whatever floats your boat.

How do you make computer games last longer?

Q. Hi, I have a Dell computer that allows it's buyers to play several games for 60 minutes only, can you tell me how to make that time period longer? I really like this game " Trade winds" but I am done with the Demo. I don't wanna buy it I just wanna play it more. I saw similar question on yahoo! answers but I can't find it. Can the guy who gave that answer help me out? plzz

A. It's not the computer stopping you but the source itself. I get the same all the time playing games on yahoo, it's annoying. I use Limewire as a peer to peer download site, you can find and download most of these online games there and install them. Some need to be unzipped but 75% of the time the game works and it's the full version

Why doesn't Yahoo! Answers have a "computer games" section?
Q. There certainly plenty of sections that sort of overlap that. "Computers & Internet" overlaps a little, but that's mainly troubleshooting. "General - Entertainment & Music" overlaps a little, and you could post computer game questions there simply because it's vague. "Video & Online Games" comes closest, but the trouble is, that includes all games from simple games on cellphones to the various 7th generation consoles. Even "online games" doesn't necessarily mean a computer game, since there's XBox Live and Wii Channels these days. And yet, there's a huge supply of questions people might have for computer games, from the simplest games from the early 80s to the newest ones. Plus, with the other online games, perhaps the category "online computer games" should be included, to include the various single player, miltiplayer, and MMORPS that people play on computers, and differentiate these games from games played over the internet on consoles.
Is there anything I can do to possibly persuade Yahoo! Answers to make a separate category for Computer Games?

A. Even though there are some computer games out there, most gaming are on consoles (psp3, Wii, etc) now. Y/A though they could put all gaming under one category. :)

Gaming computer help?

Q. Is this gamiing computer good. http://www.walmart.com/ip/iBUYPOWER-Black-Gamer-Extreme-WA939SLC-Desktop-PC-with-Intel-Quad-Core-i7-3770-Processor-16GB-Memory-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-8-Operating-System/21907353#Specifications. Also how good is the graphics card, and Can i buy a better Nividia graphcs card and install it on it?

A. That's a terrible value for the money.

It's actually overkill in some areas- unfortunately, ones which don't boost gaming performance (Core i7 3770 processor and 16GB of RAM) and weak in critical areas like the graphics card and power supply.

The GTX 650 is an entry-level gaming card which can play easier games on max settings, but tougher games like BF3 and Far Cry 3 only on medium/high. You could replace it, but you'd also have to replace the factory power supply in order to support anything better.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/Catalyst_12.11_Performance/5.html

These are much better gaming computers for the money, capable of playing tough games on high to ultra settings.

what are game assets?
Q. i need help with computer gaming

A. An asset is a thing that has value. So a game asset would be a thing that has value within a game. For instance, if in the game a character mined for gold, and as a result the gold became part of a character's inventory, that would be a game asset.

Game assets to not inherently have value in the "real world", but there are some multi-player role playing games where game assets have value in the real world, and are in fact exchanged outside of the game context for real money.

Good gaming computer (laptop)...?

Q. What is a good, hopefully cheap (although the odds are slim) laptop that can play a wide variety of online multiplayer games? I personally love Combat Arms but my laptop here just froze up on me as I was typing this (as of right now, I hate Windows Vista with a passion). I hear "Mac" being tossed about, but what do you guys think? Thanks for your help.

A. Here's my list and comments on gaming pc's.

One of the best gaming PC makers is Alienware. Some games even recommend using Alienware PC for their games. You can browse their selection @ http://www.alienware.com/ . Their Laptops are high powered with the latest nVidia graphics card with Core 2 Dual (some have quad). They may be a bit pricey --however-- their desktops are amazingly cheap and very good! They let you get a dual stack of 1GB nVidia graphics cards (latest), 4GB DDR3 RAM, Intel Core 2 Extreme! (Extreme = 8x while Dual = 2x) that is 3.1 ghz (> 3ghz), liquid cooling, 4 TB RAID drives, or ultra fast HDDs with 1,000 rpm (instead of 7,200 rpm), and cool lights. Some of these options may be available for laptops, but the best is for desktops (better and cheaper, with some under $1,000 while the better under $2,000, the the best are higher). There actually is a desktop with a 3.86ghz Intel i7. This is my personal favorite of all gaming computers. The HP gaming PC's aren't as good and are expensive. Some other laptops that are cheaper might be Dell (Alienware owned by them) or HP.
But nothing beats the power of Alienware.
I currently have a Dell Dimension 8250 (extinct), 2.8 ghz Pentium 4, 512 ram (oh, what a shame), nVidia 7400, Creative SBL!, and a microscopically small HDD with whole 8 gb! This PC is great at running games on. Tremulous is great. World in Conflict is moderate. Yadda yadda yadda. This is a moderate PC. Still, the best is Alienware, which I have seen do the best graphics.

A mouth full but there might be others out there, but this is the one.

Oh yeah, just remembered. nVidia has a standard tower-sized pc that is actually a super-computer. It has 960 cores, multiple GPU's, and is bloody-fast (up to 250 times as fast as a regular PC). Not recommended for just gaming but, if you get it, you might just be the person with the fastest gaming pc in your town, city, or even state. http://www.nvidia.com/object/personal_supercomputing.html

Yeah, Alienware is my choice. Desktops are cheaper but laptops are also good. Dell has cheap laptops that work for gaming. The nVidia Tesla PC should be used for crazy/insane/rock-hard gamers. Just listing the best. Might not be what you want, but hey, someone just found a list of the best gaming PC's out there.

And the mac things, they don't have good games. CoD, Fallout,...
No offence was meant by this to anyone with a mac. If they do have good games, I would love to hear them.

Just listing. Hope this helps someone.

Laptop computer for gaming?
Q. I've been toying with the idea of getting a laptop for gaming mainly. I'd likely use it for work some too, but just about any computer can handle Microsoft word and a browser. The game I play the most is The Sims 3 and I use their Create A World tool both of which can be very demanding programs. I occasionally play other kinds of action/rpg games as well. I don't like Mac's so I'm only interested in a PC and my price range should stay under 1,000. I know that I can google around and look at sites myself, and I have, but I'm hoping that someone here may be able to give a suggestion, a review, cautionary tale...etc.

A. I would definitely recommend an Asus laptop because they are known for there gaming laptops and their dependability, but they might cost too much.
Check these out: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor+/+17.3%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Red/Black/9728443.p?id=1218161511080&skuId=9728443 It's a Samsung, and I know they might not be the best laptop company, but look at the specs, very good.
Or I would also try this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B2+Duo+Processor+-+Black/9556125.p?id=1218124208054&skuId=9556125

Can somebody refer me to a good gaming computer for under $800?

Q. I need a high quality gaming computer for under $800. It must be fully loaded and ready to use (case fans, operating system, etc...) It doesn't need to have things such as a mouse, keyboard, or speakers, but it needs to be ready to use. Some minimum requirements I am looking for are:4gb of ram, quad core processor, 9400GT 1gb geforce graphics card, and a 480 power wattage supply. Also, every other aspect of the computer must be good for gaming; I need to run games like WoW and Aion without lag. Please leave a link to a website or something. Best answer gets 10 points.

A. You're in luck because WoW and Aion are games with fairly minimal system requirements- those will run well on most hardware. But your proposed build is backwards from what you'd need to optimize gaming performance.

First off, the 9400GT isn't a gaming card. It's half the speed of a 9500GT (which isn't great either). Gamers should not settle for anything less than a Radeon 4670 or GeForce 9600GT, which are about $75. The video card is the most important component in a gaming machine, having roughly twice the impact upon framerates as your CPU. There's a world of difference between $70-$80 cards and models in the $40-$50 range.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2464.html

Second... for GAMING, your processor clockspeed is more important than whether it's dual, triple or quad-core. 95% of games don't take advantage of the additional cores anyway (the exceptions being Crysis, GTA and Supreme Commander).

The 3.0Ghz E8400 (Core 2 Duo) is vastly better for gaming than the 2.5Ghz Q8300 (Core 2 Quad). And because quads are more expensive, you winding up spending more money on your CPU and less on your graphics card, which hurts even more. The combination of a $75 CPU and $150 graphics card easily outperforms the combination of a $150 CPU and $75 graphics card. Same story if you're $100 and $200 components.

Quads are better overall for non-gaming tasks like movie editing and heavy multitasking but if you're looking for maximum bang/buck on a budget, Core 2 Duo or possibly AMD quad-core (which costs about the same as Intel Core 2 Duo) is the way to go.

Here's a nice system- just slightly out of your price range ($829 before shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227177

Here's a link to customize a gaming computer:
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Mega_Special_I/

Just choose a few upgrades...

Phenom II X2 550 Black edtion CPU
GeForce 9800GT or Radeon 4770 video card
Windows 7 Home Premium

And you're set! Cost before shipping: $699

Or buy a computer from Best Buy, then go online for a better video card to upgarde it:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125244

Neither of the upgraded Best Buy systems will compare to the CyberPower or iBuypower machines. But still more than powerful enough for WoW and Aion.

Like most off-the-shelf computers, they come standard with 300W power supplies so you can't install anything above the Radeon 4670 without buying a better power supply. But that's not difficult and you'd still be under budget. So if you wanted a GeForce 9800GT you'd spend about $150 additional ($100 for the card, $50 for a 500W psu)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341012

You won't find well-built gaming rigs which already contain strong power supplies & graphics cards on retail stores shelves at reasonable prices. For a nice gaming rig on the cheap, you'll either have to build from scratch, buy online, or perform a few upgrades yourself.

Good gaming computer? for under 800£?
Q. I want a good gaming computer (not laptop) that has windows 7 and can run games efficiently and have no lagg and the gameplay is smooth like oblivion fallout 3 and role playing games.
And has a big hard drive for me to keep recorded videos in their and i would have the settings on med [graphic]

A. Here are some:

1. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0447460689.1266167536@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccgeadejimhgjgdcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=107755&category_oid=

and you need to add in an extra graphics card:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-HD5750-GDDR5-Express-Graphics/dp/B002RXM5WE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266167877&sr=8-1

3. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0447460689.1266167536@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccgeadejimhgjgdcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=375100&category_oid=

I would go with option 2, far better gaming performance and also DX11 graphics card ATI 5750.

Computer mouse/keyboard help?

Q. Hey guys! So I built this gaming desktop and Ima gamer, and after building this computer I just got a basic keyboard and mouse however I'm running to the problem of losing grip, they keys on the keyboard are becoming wared out so like... I try hotkeying something and sometimes i'll slip off the key, and my mouse is just basically the same way, you just slip a lot causing it to be harder to aim/move stuff like that, anyone know any good gaming mouse/keyboard or just something with good grip? Price range? doesn't really matter.. although I would very much like it to be under $100 bucks... lol Thanks ^^

A. lol dont buy into gaming mouses, i have always gamed with the 99p mice that microft or logitec make they are light last a while and dont hurt ur hands, i find gaming mice are way too bulky and dont move and for £30 they are a rip off, my keyboard is also basic logitec, id recommend these becasue with gaming stuff i havent really been that thrilled with it and have mostly taken it back also if u buy the standard stuff n u sont like it its only like £5 so its no biggie, ive never had problems with slipping off a mouse, is the mouse really big, or are u not sitting properly, but seriously just buy standard stuff, its designed to be used in offices for hours at a time so they are much better for ur hands than a gaming mouse

avoid this kind of mouse
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/microsoft-3000-v2-wireless-mouse-black-07289176-pdt.html

oh n also id recommend avoiding wireless mice if ur gaming, soemtimes the connection is really weak n it wont move when u move the mouse

help on gaming computer?
Q. so i been trying to find a computer online for gaming, i want it to be decent and cost arround $700, i dont care about the monitor i just want it to come witha keyboard and mouse, i been looking on for about 2 months now but still cant find one, one time i found one but its out of stock now, if it can run almost any recent game like bf3 or far cry 3, crysis 3 on ultra settings it would be great.i have been lookin in iBUYPOWER , NEWEGG, ETC. please someone help me! i really dont want to build one

A. ULTRA SETTINGS ON A $700 COMPUTER????
Good luck with that.....

Around $700 you are barely in the low budget gaming computer area....

Also, a gaming computer is NOT something you buy.
You either build it yourself or custom order from a reputable builder like AVA Direct, iBuyPower or CyberPowerPC

Here is the best low budget gaming PC you can build for around $750:

Yahoo answers will only allow up to 10 links, so I have to leave out the not so important components. Just copy paste in the search field on Newegg to find them, I will give the full name but no link for those.

BEST BUDGET GAMING DESKTOP PC BUILD FOR THE MONEY (under $750.00USD for the tower only)
Monitor, keyboard and mouse can add from $175 to over $500, depending on size and model you want.
All prices are in $USD and in the USA, current as of December 2012 and they might be slightly different one way or the other by now.
Also, some shipping charges may apply to some of the items.
Add your state sales tax if you reside in NJ, CA or TN - that's where Newegg has warehouses.
Look for similar parts on Amazon, Tiger Direct, etc if you want to avoid paying Uncle Sam.

can you connect a turtle beach gaming headset to your computer?
Q. it is an XLC Xbox 360 headset

A. Yes, just plug in the long cable to the green jack on your computer. If you need the mic to work too, then you'll have to get a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm female/male adapter to plug into the pink jack on your computer.

Is this a good computer for light gaming?

Q. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Desktop+with+AMD+Athlon%26%23153%3B+II+X4+Quad-Core+Processor/9549401.p?id=1218122580360&skuId=9549401
By 'light gaming' I mean that it can play all current games, but maybe not with all the high end settings.

A. It's good for light gaming provided you install a standalone video card to replace the integrated GeForce 9100, which is useless for games.

Off-the-shelf bargain computers usually don't have strong enough power supplies to handle midrange graphics cards, so the best you could install without replacing the psu would be a Radeon 4670.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161287

If you upgrade the power supply, you could install gaming cards like the GeForce 9800GT, Radeon 4850/4870 and GTS 250/GTX 260.

Whichever graphics card you purchase, buy it online- Best Buy is way overpriced on those.

Building A Gaming Computer?
Q. i need some help on building a computer a semi budget
i need a good mother board
it this a good one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358

also im thinking or running a intel core 2 quad q6600
and G.Skill 2GB ram 800 MHZ
also im thinking overclocking from 2.4ghz to 3.0 or more
so i am also gonna use the Tuniq Tower 120 universal cpu cooler 120mm

but i dont know what else i need i was thinking of putting a Nvidia Gt9500
and other stuff im a begginerg and idk nothing.. can you guys give me some good parts i can buy so i can have a good gaming computer that can take alot of gaming requirements.
thank you. ( Starcraft 2 =O )

A. First of all, get more RAM. 2GB is nice, but 4GB is better and you'll probably only end up paying about 25-30 dollars more.

Second, don't overclock. These days, processors aren't usually the bottleneck on a PC. Many games offload the vast majority of their math to the GPU, so your processor will probably be under a pretty light load while gaming. Overclocking it will just reduce its lifespan, void its (and possibly your motherboard's) warranty, and risk damage to itself and your motherboard. I don't see any reason to do it. If anyone out there wants to correct me, feel free.

The motherboard looks great. It appears to have won an award from Anantech (a popular hardware site) and has a lot of great reviews from users.

Get some faster RAM. 800Mhz isn't bad, but 1066 is better. Check out some of this fancy Corsair Dominator RAM (just $75 for 4GB!): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145214

As for the video card, the 9500GT isn't a bad chipset. It's mid-range, but since you're working off a budget here, then there's no reason to go higher now. However, you might consider going with an ATI card. The reason for this is the motherboard you picked supports Crossfire technology. Which is great for someone like you building on a budget because you can get one mid-range card now and then, when you have some more money, you can buy a second copy of that card and use them both at once rather than having to buy a more expensive card and discard the one you already paid for. Just make sure the card you get supports Crossfire.

As far as the after-market CPU cooler goes, I'm really not a fan of those. Generally using a 3rd party processor cooler voids your warranty on your processor. I've always gone with the retail box version of processors and just used the included heatsink/fan. The included heat sink/fan with a processor is designed for that specific processor and comes set up for use with it. With a third party heat sink, if there's any compatibility problems or if you incorrectly apply the thermal paste or something than you could be out a processor and a motherboard. Save your money and just do the retail box CPU and use the included heat sink.

You have the main components down (as far as what's important on a gaming machine). Anything else (DVD drive, hard drive, case, peripherals, etc) is up to you. Just a couple points:

-Get a name-brand power supply that's at least 600W. If you do end up running 2 video cards, you're going to need a lot of power and you'll want it to be reliable. 750W or more wouldn't hurt.
-If you can afford it, get an SSD for your OS and games to reside on and then a larger traditional hard drive for your data. This can introduce a pretty impressive speed increase. But this can be expensive, so treat it as optional for now.
-Go with a SATA DVD drive if you can find one at a reasonable price. It's much more future-proof because you never know when motherboards will start shipping with no PATA.
-Consider going with a 64-bit operating system (specifically Vista 64-bit). Your motherboard will support 16GB(!!!) of RAM, but a 32-bit OS will only support between 3 and 3.5GB. If you want to add more RAM later you don't really want to have to buy a new operating system to go with it. I run Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my desktop and it works just fine.
