I would like to make my own gaming computer but buying the parts, and a budget less then $500 if possible?
Q. i don't have much experience about computers, but i'm only 17 and i just started looking into it

A. for $500 you will not be able to buy brand new decent gaming computer. BUUUT. Ebay has really great auctions for used gaming PCs i mean you can find them for 50% of what you would pay for brand new parts. I just sold my Gaming pc that cost me $1300 a year ago for $450+shipping and it runs every game out there.
Just make sure you get a decent enough video card. That is the main factor in a gaming computer.
Here are a couple of suggestions to save money that will give you an option to get a more expensive video card:
CPU:
when looking for CPU for gaming, MOST games do not use more than 2 cores, with some exeptions, so you can save some money by getting dual core a not quad or hex. Also most games will not use Hyperthreading.
MEMORY:
you do not really need more than 4gb ram for most games
Hard-drive:
you won't be able to afford SD drive so get an HDD. most hdd performance difference is negligable in games.
Sound Card:
No reason to spend money on it, since soundcards that are built into your motherboards are good enough.
Motherboard:
There is no real reason to buy an expensive motherboard if you are not overclocking and do not need a more complex south bridge. I would suggest looking into AMD setups since they offer better value.

Overall, if u have any question id be glad to help./

game pad and keyboard which is ur favorite to play games on ur computer?

Q.

A. I just tried "Call of Duty 2" on Xbox 360. I like the game pad... very efficient layout.

For strategy games like Command and Conquer and Total Annihilation, keyboard and mouse is best as there are many shortcut keys you can use.

Can Laptops crash from gaming?
Q. I bought Call of Duty 4, and after a few days of playing it, my laptop crashed, and I had to do a system recovery. I know laptops arent the best idea to play heavy graphic games on, but do playing advanced games Harm the computer?

A. You can play the game, just don't let your computer overheat. Use a cooling pad if you want.

A. a desktop has a huge advantage vs a laptop because it can be upgraded later (a laptop can't except the ram and hard drive).

in order to play these games a $600 computer would do, but you said "the best", here it is

Gaming Computer around $ 1,000?
Q. So it's new computer time for me again. When my tax return comes, I'll have about $1,000 - $1,300 to spend on the computer.

For the amount I need a computer that's going to be able to handle Final Fantasy 14, Warframe, and possibly Guild Wars 2 and Runescape 3.

I also need a 2 year warranty.
If it's a desktop then I already have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

For a laptop, I was looking at the newest model for the Lenovo Ideapad Y510P.

Intel Core i7 4700MQ (2.40GHz)
8GB Memory 1TB + 8GB SSHD HDD
Dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M SLI
1920 x 1080
Windows 8.1

From what I've seen that should work for me. I just want to make sure I get the right computer, and I havn't really shopped for desktops before so I was wondering if there is a desktop in that price range that would give more for the money.

Thanks for the help.
I also will need to be able to run Skype voice chat and the game at the same time, which my current computer struggles with.

A. Desktop PCs will always give you more performance for the price paid and future upgrade ability. As far as Laptops go the Lenovo you have said is a favorite of mine as it gives very good gaming performance for an unbeatable price. That being said if you put the same amount of money into a desktop it will easily blow it away.

Depending on what kind of discounts you can get, Alienware is worth a look. I say this ONLY if you can get some good discounts as straight out the prices are a bit high.

I would also take a look at ibuypower just because the customization options are very flexible and digitalstorm PCs for their quality.

Newegg is also your friend as you can find most pre-built computers from these custom sites for sale at a great price.

Gaming desktop computer?

Q. i want to know what i would need to build a gaming DESKTOP computer under $700. i am really new to this kind of stuff. i am a console gamer, but i find it too easy and want more of a challenge. i know somewhat of the things i would need. such as a video card, motherboard, RAM, etc. but i am not sure what will give me the best performance for the money i am using. i will be looking to upgrade it later on in the future with faster and better performing things. but i really dont know what some of the things are used for. for example, what is the motherboard for, and why that one and not another. and if they are campatible with the other parts of the computer. also i want all performance, not really for the looks. so cheap affordable case would be nice that would last me a decent amount of time. ive also been doing research but there are a lot of mixed reviews about everything, and to a new guy like me, all these letters and numbers are confusing, so some explaination to some of the meanings of things that the parts have, would be very helpful, or if i could get a website where they give a good explaination about everything. i have read a few but they mostly just say what the item is and how much , but they dont explain how this could be better than any other part of the same price range and performance. i also will be mostly playing games such as battlefield, cod, halo (if it comes to pc), minecraft, runescape, skyrim etc. thank you so much, i am asking for a lot, i might as well ask if someone could build it for me. thanks!
also, i would even get the alienware x51, but i have a strong feeling that is might mostly be a rip off and not worth the money at all, all looks and no performance, but knowing if its any good would be great!

A. I checked Ironside. No bargain there.

A gaming computer is:
Case, Motherboard, Keyboard, Mouse, Power supply, CPU, Graphics card, cooling fans, DRAM, Operating system, Optical drive, HDD[s], audio output (speakers or headset), monitor/display or TV.
Gaming is mostly in the Graphics card.
Most show here:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php
and the CPU is on the first tab.
Gaming summary, is matching the nearest benchmarked card to this:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
$720 gets this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227422
$700 gets this:

AMD FX-8120 3.1GHz is a bit of a waste because it has more cores than gaming can use, but it is OK. If building your own, FX-4100 is good enough and then try to unlock and overclock.
HDD is 1TB SATA II - would prefer Sata III
Has a decent AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB
is a cheaper motherboard with Fast (10/100) ethernet instead of gigabit, 6 channel audio instead of 8.
The HD 7750 of the one costing $20 more is a lower grade graphics card. 5 channel audio and gigabit ethernet. I would get the $700 one first.

The Alienware X51 is next to impossible to upgrade because the case is too small.
The $700 and tax
2nd Generation Intel® Core i3-2120 (3M Cache, 3.3 GHz) is no better than the newegg CPUs and probably a little lower in actual gaming. 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 545 is much lower than the HD 7750, and that is lower than the HD 6850. HDD is still SATA II they throw in a $25 wireless card. and use a $15 power supply 240W External Power
It is a P.O.S.
Not as good as a $530 one at Newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229285
A HD 6670 approximates GT 545
FX-4100 approximates Intel i3-2120
The PSU is better, includes a keyboard + mouse, and just a smaller HDD. The Alienware is worth $575 not $700
The HD 6670 is probably not strong enough for you. See the chart of gaming. It is about a GT 555M equal. You can build your own, but the $700 Cyberpower is made with about $650 worth of parts.
On Build your own, use HD 6850 or HD 6870 or HD 7770 or GTX 560 ti
Use an FX-4100 or i3-2120 or so
Find a decent 650Watt power supply
You pretty much match the $700 system with tweaking the numbers.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1018125
This kit at about $600 or so, is missing Windows 7 and only has the 128GB SSD, but is about right overall.
This one also
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1018122
needs windows 7 and eventually a second HDD but is about right.

Computer mouse/keyboard help?
Q. Hey guys! So I built this gaming desktop and Ima gamer, and after building this computer I just got a basic keyboard and mouse however I'm running to the problem of losing grip, they keys on the keyboard are becoming wared out so like... I try hotkeying something and sometimes i'll slip off the key, and my mouse is just basically the same way, you just slip a lot causing it to be harder to aim/move stuff like that, anyone know any good gaming mouse/keyboard or just something with good grip? Price range? doesn't really matter.. although I would very much like it to be under $100 bucks... lol Thanks ^^

A. lol dont buy into gaming mouses, i have always gamed with the 99p mice that microft or logitec make they are light last a while and dont hurt ur hands, i find gaming mice are way too bulky and dont move and for £30 they are a rip off, my keyboard is also basic logitec, id recommend these becasue with gaming stuff i havent really been that thrilled with it and have mostly taken it back also if u buy the standard stuff n u sont like it its only like £5 so its no biggie, ive never had problems with slipping off a mouse, is the mouse really big, or are u not sitting properly, but seriously just buy standard stuff, its designed to be used in offices for hours at a time so they are much better for ur hands than a gaming mouse
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/microsoft-2lf-00021-wireless-desktop-800-keyboard-and-mouse-set-07576464-pdt.html

this is sort of what i use also ge ta mouse tha tis as flat as possible, its much more comfortable

avoid this kind of mouse
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/microsoft-3000-v2-wireless-mouse-black-07289176-pdt.html
they are terrible
oh n also id recommend avoiding wireless mice if ur gaming, soemtimes the connection is really weak n it wont move when u move the mouse

Gaming Computer Motherboard on Budget?
Q. I'm looking to try and make a budget gaming computer. My budget is around 600 to 700 dollars w/out monitor. My main question is what cpu and motherboard I should get. I'm leaning towards the ASUS company because a lot of my friends said positive things about it, but other than that I have no idea. I know the motherboard choice revolves around the CPU and I'm thinking about getting a "AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2." I'm pretty wary about intel processors because a lot of people talk about overclocking with intel cpu's, which I'd rather not have to.
Please give me some feedback on what I should do. Just please remember I'm really bad in computer terminology. A comment about if I'm spending too much is also appreciated. Keep in mind I have no hardware or wires to scavenge from past computers. So I'd have to buy everything from scratch, case and all. Thanks.

A. you can build a really nice system for 600-700 range.

I sell computers, and recently I have been selling the follwing setup for $500

Amd Athlon64 4200+ x2 CPU (2.2GHz)
ASUS M2N-MX SE Motherboard
2GB Kingston DDR2 667MHz Ram
250GB Western Digital SATA HDD
20X Sony-NEC-Optiarc DVD-RW
Geforce 8500GT 256MB Video Card
Gaming case with 450w PSU

Thats a really nice system but the graphics are a little bit weak, you could upgrade the video to an 8800 GTS for about $750 total cost and have a real nice system for gaming.

If you can't find someone to sell you a system like that I'd be happy to oblige. I can deal with you directly or I can set up an eBay buy it now auction for you.

Email me at jmettie@source1tech.com if you are interested.

How do you make computer games last longer?

Q. Hi, I have a Dell computer that allows it's buyers to play several games for 60 minutes only, can you tell me how to make that time period longer? I really like this game " Trade winds" but I am done with the Demo. I don't wanna buy it I just wanna play it more. I saw similar question on yahoo! answers but I can't find it. Can the guy who gave that answer help me out? plzz

A. It's not the computer stopping you but the source itself. I get the same all the time playing games on yahoo, it's annoying. I use Limewire as a peer to peer download site, you can find and download most of these online games there and install them. Some need to be unzipped but 75% of the time the game works and it's the full version

Why doesn't Yahoo! Answers have a "computer games" section?
Q. There certainly plenty of sections that sort of overlap that. "Computers & Internet" overlaps a little, but that's mainly troubleshooting. "General - Entertainment & Music" overlaps a little, and you could post computer game questions there simply because it's vague. "Video & Online Games" comes closest, but the trouble is, that includes all games from simple games on cellphones to the various 7th generation consoles. Even "online games" doesn't necessarily mean a computer game, since there's XBox Live and Wii Channels these days. And yet, there's a huge supply of questions people might have for computer games, from the simplest games from the early 80s to the newest ones. Plus, with the other online games, perhaps the category "online computer games" should be included, to include the various single player, miltiplayer, and MMORPS that people play on computers, and differentiate these games from games played over the internet on consoles.
Is there anything I can do to possibly persuade Yahoo! Answers to make a separate category for Computer Games?

A. Even though there are some computer games out there, most gaming are on consoles (psp3, Wii, etc) now. Y/A though they could put all gaming under one category. :)

A. This is such a high end config, if you really want to play online game then this config is much more than enough, Actually lagging in online games is n't a problem of PC, it's major part based on your internet connection.

First upgrade your internet connection.

and you mentioned you are n't a geek, but I really refuce to agree that...

All the best for your online gaming, you know I too an online gamer.... I'm a pro in GUNZ game

I am looking for a free computer/online version of this game?
Q. A while back, there was an iTouch app called Frotz in which you went through fictional adventures via text commands. Like being in a book, for lack of a better description.

I was wondering if there is a free online/computer version or website that provides such a game.

A. I think "Adventure" might be one of the original text adventure games, which it sounds like is what you mean. There is a massively epic one called Zork which I particularly recommend; I spent a long while trying to play it, and it is... very very frustrating. (I'm pretty bad at these games, actually.)

Gaming Computer Help?

Q. What would be better for a average gamer, a Alienware X51 , Alienware M14x or a Dell XPS 15z?

( If there is a better laptop or desktop that is better for what I'm looking for please tell me)
'max price $1,500'

( Im looking for a computer with awesome graphics ( preferably a computer that can handle max graphics Full HD 1920x1080 without crashing ) and a computer that's fast and doesn't crash)

( Games I'll be playing mostly are Runescape, Diablo 1 - 3, Starwars Old Republic, Age of Conan, etc. to other games similar to those )
Laptop or desktop dosen't matter
Im looking more towards the Falcon Northwest Co.. Either the ""Fragbox"" ( http://www.falcon-nw.com/desktops/fragbox ) or the ""Talon"" ( http://www.falcon-nw.com/desktops/talon ) What would be better for what im looking out of the two. ( remember im a little below or a average gamer )

A. The X51 is the better. With your max price, this computer should run your games (Runescape, Diablo 1 - 3, Starwars Old Republic, Age of Conan, etc) smoothly at highest detail setting.

Is runescape a good online computer game? And is it addictive?
Q. i have to do a report on computer games online so why not runescape lol

A. Umm.. no. Runescape is a rather stupid game where you go around and kill stuff. If thats your idea of a good time go ahead and play.

is this a good gaming computer setup?

Q. Apevia x-supra (case)
Asus m5a97 (motherboard)
AMD fx-8150 (CPU)
Sapphire 100358L Radeon 7770 1GB(graphics card)
Crucial ballistix sport 8GB(Memory)
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7500RPM(harddrive)
Samsung DVD burner
Corsair builder series cx500 500W
anything wrong with this setup and any recommendations for keyboard, mice, and monitors?

A. Pretty decent budget build you got there. If it was me though, I would consider maxing out the ram. Right now DDR3 is pretty cheap, but it will go up when DDR4 comes out. At least that's what happened to DDR2, doubled in price for used sticks, when DDR3 came out. GPU's are usually cheapest to upgrade, so I wouldn't worry to much on that. My $600 build from 2008 is still able to play any game on the market because of a cheap GPU upgrade. Paid $100 originally for GPU then upgraded it for $200(minus $50 I sold my old card for + the free Dirt3 game, $60 and new at the time. I ended up getting two copies of Dirt3 when I ordered my card though. The card came with a key and newegg was giving keys to people who bought that curtain card. Sold the extra on ebay for $12 if I remember correctly)

As for the monitor most people use 21 inch. Here's some good one's I found:

I honestly think that the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and mouse pad is about as important as internal computer parts because a good setup will last you years, will have greater options and performance for gaming, and if you decide to sell it it'll hold more value vs some off-BS brand.

A. Games don't take advantage of CPUs that can run many threads at one time, so you won't notice any difference between a 4 core and an 8 core processor, most games use only 2 cores max. So first thing I'd recommend is get a more reasonable processor, like the i5 2500k.
Unless you're planning on heavy overclocking you don't need liquid CPU cooling, and if you get the i5 you won't need to overclock past anything that air cooling can handle. My i5 2500k is running nice and cool at 4GHs with my coolermaster hyper 212+. If I were you I'd scratch the 8 core and the liquid cooling and get an i5 2500k with a good aftermarket air cooler. Also, the i5 2500k will run circles around the FX-8120 in gaming applications, with or without an overclock.

1600MHz 2x4GB RAM is nice. Not sure exactly what you mean there but usually the number of sticks come first, if you're planning on four 2GB sticks, I'd recommend you go with two 4GB sticks instead. It'll make less heat and won't interfere (physically) with your CPU heatsink.

Nice video card. There's lots of choices, I'd recommend the MSI twin frozr III because of the excellent cooler, or the EVGA AR edition as it has a lifetime warranty.

If you go with the i5, then I'd recommend a p67 or z68 motherboard.

800W is plenty

Sound card's aren't necessary, your motherboard will have pretty good integrated sound.

A. Yes, that configuration would play WoW and Borderlands 2 on ultra without lag.

But it's not the most cost-effective build for the money. You're burning money on things which don't improve performance and skimping in other areas you shouldn't.

First of all, dual GTX 550 Ti's is quite powerful. However, it's always better to have a single higher-end card than a pair of lesser cards running in SLI or Crossfire. SLI performance doesn't scale equally for all games. SLI/CF setups also experience more graphics driver glitches/bugs and also may run afoul of micro-stuttering. Instead of two GTX 550 Ti cards, you're better off with a single GTX 660, which can play top-end titles like BF3 on ultra at 1080p.

By the way, for WoW and Borderlands 2 on that 1366x768 monitor, even a single GTX 550 Ti is enough to run smoothly on ultra.

Second, AMD processors have weaker gaming performance than Intel. Core i5 is the best choice for gaming builds. Even Core i3 beats most AMD processors.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-8120-6100-4100_6.html#sect0

Third, putting 16GB of RAM into a gaming rig is just wasting money. No games utilize more than 4GB of RAM. With 8GB you've got enough to keep your rig future-proof for the next 3-4 years. Gaming requires a high-end graphics

Fourth, you want a good quality power supply- something from a top brand like Corsair or Antec, not the generic one.

Finally, why do you have a secondary hard drive of 500GB? There's no reason for it... and unless you're storing a TON of videos and music, 2TB isn't needed for your main drive. A 1TB drive would be plenty. You might consider an SSD for super-fast boot times along with a 1TB secondary drive, but that's a degree of decadence you might not be interested in ;)

Instead of starting with the Mega Special I, start with the Mega Special III (base price $825)

I suggest taking the air cooling option - Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO rather than liquid cooling. That's fine even for moderate overclocking (which isn't necessary with a Core i5) and is basically zero maintenance.

Upgrade to the Corsair TX650 power supply and 2GB GTX 660 (which is currently a free upgrade from the GTX 560 Ti)

Keep the default Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard and 8GB of 1600Mhz RAM... those are fine.

You can still chose the Raidmax Augusta case if you really like it... Otherwise the default Cooler Master HAF 912 is just as good and costs less.

Add 64-bit Windows 7, your Azza gaming keyboard and mouse, your 600W PMPO speakers (although I recommend at least getting the Creative T3130) and you're set.

You can choose their ultra care options, although they're pretty much a rip-off. The professional wiring option is pointless when you're running a single graphics card- there's PLENTY of space inside the case, no airflow problems. The ultra enhanced packaging is just some extra foam that won't really matter if the delivery guy tosses the box over a fence. Assuming it doesn't suffer some awful mishap, their standard packaging provides ample protection.

Even with the Thermal Fusion 400 compound and Professional wiring options, your total is $1207 before taxes/shipping, without monitor.

I advise AGAINST getting your monitor from CyberpowerPC, I don't really like their prices, or the models offered. Get that from Newegg or Amazon. For example, this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824113030

Or if you want a full 1080p monitor, this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316

So you spend less, for a better-performing system. Good luck!

Is this computer fit for gaming in 2013?

Q. this christmas i want to buy a pc for light gaming, here are the specs: 3Ghz quad-core intel i5 CPU,asus directx10 motherboard,8GB ddr3 ram,750GB HDD,1GB asus nvidia geforce graphics card, dvd and blu-ray optical drives, microsoft wired keyboard and mouse, 22'' LED full HD monitor, running the windows 7 OS(i dont plan on upgrading anytime soon).

A. This definitely will be fit for gaming. The memory, the space, and the specs are perfect. It'd be a good test subject to try out GTA V on the PC when it eventually comes out ;)

Help, please? Which video card will work to upgrade my system for average computer games of 2013/14?
Q. I have an HP desktop with the following specs:

HP XW4600 Workstation Desktop
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Processor (3.0GHz, 4MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB)
4GB of DDR2 RAM Memory
500GB SATA Hard Drive
DVD+/-RW (Burns CDs & DVDs)
Video: NVIDIA Quadro NVS290
Integrated High Definition audio with jack retasking capability
Integrated 10/100/1000 Network
7 USB 2.0 connectors (2 Front & 5 Rear)
Microphone Jack ( Front )
Headphone Jack ( Front )

OPERATING SYSTEM
Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

I realize the NVIDIA Quadro NVS290 video card is an old card; what video card would be a good upgrade and compatible for this system?

Do the card specs need to match the pc specs? Will I need an "DDR2" video card to match my system?

This is for my teen; besides basic games, she also needs to run a drawing tablet, too.
Any constructive advice will be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

A. The computer isn't bad but a CPU upgrade may be something you would look into to also boost performance since the overall specs are getting a bit out dated. As far as the graphics card is concerned A lot of cards in the $85-100 range work well to get games even to medium/high settings even maxed out in some cases. I like the Radeon HD 6670 but anything in the price range listed should work well. But since the other computer parts are getting outdated the graphics card should have a little more power than you think you need.
Also don't forget to check the current power supply output as you may need a new power supply that can provide the power to the system plus the new card.

Can a 3d Blu ray movie be played from a computer on to a 3d TV (Passive technology)?

Q. Hi,
I have an LG passive 3D TV 250hz. I have my gaming computer beside it, so I figured why not hook it up to the TV. Then that got me thinking, can I play 3D Blu ray movies from my computer on to the TV? Or is 3D capability limited to 3D Blu ray players only? Thank you for your time.

A. You can play a Blu Ray movie on your computer if your computer has a Blu Ray drive, they are putting them in the newer computers now if you request it.

If you don't have a Blu Ray drive on your computer then you can't play it on your computer.

Once you establish that issue there is no reason why you can't stream it to your tv if you have it set up correctly. However to receive a 3D picture your tv has to have that capability which is relatively new technology on tvs.

I have a Blu Ray drive on my computer and I stream to my tv using apple tv.

How do I get my 3D tv to render video games in 3D?
Q. I've been at it almost 2 days and nothing is working, even the companies own tech support has failed me. Even if you don't know what steps to take, perhaps there's a website that might? Any help would be much appreciated.
Forgot to mention I'm trying to play games off my computer, not a gaming console.

A. You didn't give your age or your experience with 3D or any indication that you know how 3D works. So, I have to risk insulting your intelligence by asking you some obvious questions:

Does the game console support 3D sterescopic output and does the game software support 3D stereoscopic output? All links in the chain must support 3D otherwise it won't work, from the game, to the console, to the TV. I'm assuming you're using HDMI cables to connect... correct?

Also, it helps a lot for troubleshooting if you tell us what you've already tried.

There are different 3D technologies. One uses special battery-powered glasses to close each eye alternatively 30 times per second, so that only one eye sees the screen at any given time and the correct image is shown on TV for that eye. Another technology shows both images on the TV at the same time, but they are polarized at 90 degree angles to each other. You need polarized glasses for this to work, but they don't need batteries. They're usually cheapo glasses with fixed lenses, like the kind you get in the movie theater when you saw The Abyss.

You have to make sure that all links in your 3D system use are using the same technology otherwise it won't work.

EDIT: Does your computer support 3d stereoscopic output? All graphics cards can do 3d rendering, but sterescopic is different. It creates two seperates images at the same time, one for each eye. You need a special graphics card for this. Most graphics cards can't do it.

Best Recording Software for games?

Q. Hey Guys I tried fraps , hypercam , debut pro. , gamecam
but whenever i record my game(fifa11) after recording and i play the video i recorded its just grey screen.. on the video why?

A. You can use Screen Recording Suite to help you record video games when you were playing on computer screen, and it also can help you save the recordings to standard video format file, so that you can upload it to video sharing websites or share with your friends. Hope to help you.

Here is the link: http://www.screenrecord.net/

Lightweight PC game recording software?
Q. FRAPS is terrible, framerates plunge whenever I'm recording.
Any lighter recorders out there?

A. Camtasia - http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/ - The reason being it can handle all sorts of screen recording - especially from commercial video which some other programs have problems with. It's not free though - around $300.

But there are some very good free ones...

BB FlashBack Express - http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack_FreePlayer.aspx - good screen video capture program. Captures to AVI and SWF formats. The problem with this one is it puts a halo around the screen cursor which cannot be removed.

Expression Encoder - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=5c3c5f97-678c-4c99-a7fc-f84f320c626f - An advanced audio/video-encoding and live-broadcasting application. A huge program but the video capture is great. Captures to WMV format. The free version is good enough for most things.

Screen to Video - http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html - great screen video capture program. Can capture screens to AVI, SWF, FLA and WMV formats. My favorite free recorder.

Wink - http://www.debugmode.com/wink/ - A tutorial and presentation creation software. The screen capture is great. Captures to SWF format.

It could be your computer is maxed out with your game and whatever else you are going to run is going to slow it down.

Best Gaming Computers?

Q. So i am looking for a very good gaming computer or laptop for a good price. I have been looking for something possibly in the range from 500-800 and i know that doesnt give me much to work with but its what i have. So ive come to find this gaming computer http://cgi.ebay.com/iBUYPOWER-Gamer-Power-903-Core-2-Quad-Q8200-2-33GHz_W0QQitemZ320486623645QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item4a9e7dc99d

And also http://cgi.ebay.com/Asus-15-4-G50Vt-X5-Core-2-Duo-P7450-2-13GHz-4GB-320GB_W0QQitemZ230447731109QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLaptops_Nov05?hash=item35a7c151a5

Are these good buys? they are decently priced expecially the first and im looking to play games like Empire total war and World of Warcraft pretty well.

A. For gaming, definitely go with a desktop. It's hard to get decent gaming performance on laptops for under $1000, and they aren't upgradeable later on.

While the absolute best value for your dollar comes building from scratch, there are plenty of better deals. The first system isn't good for gaming- the graphics card is worthless and would have to be replaced, the processors is also rather slow.

Here's a much better (and cheaper) choice:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229172

Building from scratch you could get something much more powerul. Or you could spend another $150 to upgrade the graphics card and power supply on the this computer. But for WoW and Empire Total War, it wouldn't be necessary.

Could Someone Build Me A Gaming Computer For Under £1000?
Q. Hello there, i am breeding my dogs and i'll have roughly £1000 pounds left over once i've done what i want with the other money.

I've always wanted a good gaming computer, i have just never had the money, i'm now looking into building my own gaming computer. I have seen a few cards, read up on how to build them, etc...

But can't make my mind up on what is best for gaming, so could someone send me UK links to sites to build a good gaming computer? I'd be extremely greatful, i'm keen on the i5 and a XFX Radeon 5850.

So if anyones kind enough to send me UK links to cheap sites, for good quality gaming components i would also need a monitor and keyboard, seeing as i am running on a laptop currently, a good monitor is good but any keyboard will do, but if theres change then a good keyboard would be awesome!

Thankyou So Much In Advance!

A. I'm in the USA, but Ebuyer and Aria seem to be good UK-based sites for components.

http://www.ebuyer.com
http//www.aria.co.uk

Be sure to get a 2nd-generation Core i5 (Sandy Bridge). If you aren't overclocking, don't waste money on an expensive motherboard or "K" processor- get an H67 board with a Core i5 2500 (or even the 2400, which is just a tad slower)- still better than previous generation Core i7 CPUs for gaming.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/20

Here's look at graphics cards- you might want to move up to a GTX 560Ti or Radeon HD 6950, those are newer models which generally outperform the 5850.

http://www.techspot.com/review/359-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560ti/page10.html

*** Update ***
The Passmark rankings from videocardbenchmark.net are o.k. for a rough estimate of how cards perform, but aren't an accurate way to compare cards which are close together in performance. That's because their rankings only show how various cards perform on synthetic benchmark tests, not in actual games (which is what really matters). Some card models which score great on benchmarks perform worse in games than models which scored lower!

Check card reviews from sites like Xbitlabs, Anandtech, Techspot, Tom's Hardware, Hot Hardware, Guru3D etc. Reviews show how cards perform in actual real-world games at various resolutions, in addition to valuable information like power consumption, heat output, noise etc.

In-game results from Crysis or BC2 are better than passmark scores, any day of the week.

Help with Computer headset for gaming?
Q. Well im getting a Turtle Beach Ear Force Z1 for my first headset for gaming and i just wanna know one thing, What do the Headset USB Adapters do? cause i wand to have music coming out of my speakers and sub woofers but still chat with my friends online, that means i dont want the music coming out of my headset i was my friends voices coming out the headset and thats it. Now if i want that to happen do i get a Headset USB adapter like the Turtle Beach Amigo II or are there other ways to do this

A. You can select what hardware device is used for which purpose in the Control Panel if you are running Windows.

In the Control Panel, select 'Sound'. Just set your speakers as the default device for sound output, and the headset for voice recording/input. You can talk all you want and sound will still come from the speakers.

You don't necessarily need a USB headset to do this. Even analog (headset-jack type) mics can be setup this way. Windows just needs to recognize that there is some kind of headset/mic installed on the computer.

PC CASE: Any PC Case (full or mid tower), with bottom mount for the power supply, either ATX or μATX (micro ATX) size.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM for your operating system ($100):

Cost: From $800 on up to over $1500, depending on processor, graphics card, power supply and case you choose.

A good, full HD 1080p (1920x1080), LED backlit 27inch monitor will cost you around $260 to over $300.
Any cheap USB mouse and keyboard for about $30 to $50, or spend more for expensive gaming style ones.

Good luck.

A. This build would be great to play any game but can't really max out the graphics, you should be able to run most games at medium and maybe high settings.

Speeding up computer for online gaming?

Q. Is there a way I can change settings on my computer to optomize it for online gaming or speed it up at all?

Im using Windows Vista if that matters...

A. 1.)get a program called gamebooster it optimizes and closes useless processes that run when you play games it also defrags yor ram and removes like 200mb for me takes like 5-20 seconds for it to be done.
2.)Update your drivers for your video card. if you use a nvidea card open the nvidea control panel and go to manage 3D settings and click the things (not the list boxes) it will give you a detailed description on each thing, if you want to use it at highest preformance and not highest qualty change the settings to this.
anisotropic filter: OFF
anti aliasing: NONE
con-formant texture damp: use hardware
Force minimaps: NONE
max pre-rendered frames: 8 (doesnt effect prefornce just the response rate good for shooters)
negatice laid bias:ALLOW
Texturing quality: HIGH PERFORMANCE
triple buffering: on
vertical sync: on

computer gamer?
Q. OK so what is the best way to reduce lag in all games (not online ones just normal games)
I have 884 RAM and a ATI Radeon xpress 1150 video card

A. There is really nothing you can do short of lowering the resolution and the quality settings of the game.

The issue is that you have a laptop, laptops are not made for gaming. They have integrated video and you cannot upgrade the video adapter.

So, by reducing quality and resolution, you will get higher framerates = less "lag".

Computer Ram?

Q. I have a Inspiron 531 Dell computer which works rally good. But i want to make it faster becasue whne im multitasking it lags. Does anyone know what kind of Ram i should buy and does ram even make it faster. Also does anyone know the How much it would cost to buy this ram.

A. Increased RAM can make things faster. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan. No need to buy from them.
http://www.crucial.com/index.asp

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc), graphic card and malware all compete for system resources. The presence of Malware (viruses, spyware, etc) will particularly eat up your system resources so you may want to run your resident security products such as antispyware and antivirus applications to ensure that your system is clean.

Computer Ram?!?!?
Q. I want to play World of Warcraft real bad on my computer, but when i try to download it on my computer, it says i need more ram. So, ram for my computer would cost about175 dollars, so i dont want to do that, but is there any way to free up ram on my computer? please post of any ways to clear up ram on your computer...??

A. This is tricky. Depending on the amount of RAM your computer, you might need to buy more ($30 for 512). I would suggest Newegg.com. You could free up space with virtual memory. Virtual memory is EXTREMELY ineffective. If you need just a little boost, this might help. Go to the control panel, system, advanced tab, Preformance Virtual memory (first button), and then virtual memory size. Installing new RAM is easy. you should have an open slot. Make sure you have no other programs running when you run the game.

I want a good gaming computer for around 500-600 dollars?

Q. I would like a gaming computer that could run minecraft, Arma 2, and Guild Wars 2 with high graphics. Can anyone help me with specs that include a monitor recommendation?

A. this is a 540$hp, currently out of stock but you can find it in other stores, can cerntanly play low-mid end games such as minecraft armour 2 and others , thats the whole reason i bougth it,

check out game debate, there you can search up games requirments and you will see the desktop below beats them or is right below them but not by much and you can always upgrade the graphics card and maybe do crossfire and play games like skyrim gta5 saints row 3, not that you cant already with the below desktop just that you will probably have to sacrifice some graphics in order to play with decent game frames but i assume not by much

http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pavilion-P7-1235-Desktop-PC-with-AMD-Quad-Core-A8-5500-Accelerated-Processor-8GB-Memory-1TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-7-Home-Premium-Monitor-Not-In/20977051 ,
AMD Radeon HD 7560D Discrete Graphics With up to 4059MB total available graphics memory it has way better graphics unit then a GeForce 310 by far and i mean it beats the crap out of the 310.

and it has AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated processor 3.20GHz, 4MB L2 Cache which also beats the crap out of most i5 processors but some i5 processors are stil la bit better, depends on which,

even though it has no screens you can fijnd a pretty good one for $88 which would put you around for $630 in total ,
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dell-Exact-model-may-vary/21009304 , this is a very high deph screen and pretty decent size for $88, that is cheap compared to the others i researched , the 1280 x 1024 resolution is pretty mighty plus the dvi-d fits the desktop
heres some general info

AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated processor
3.20GHz, 4MB L2 Cache

8GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 32GB)
Gives you the power to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work

1TB SATA hard drive
Store 666,000 photos, 285,000 songs or 526 hours of HD video and more

SuperMulti DVD Burner
Watch movies, and read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats

10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN
Connect to a broadband modem with wired Ethernet or wirelessly connect to a Wi-Fi signal or hotspot with the 802.11b/g/n connection built into your PC

AMD Radeon HD 7560D Discrete Graphics
With up to 4059MB total available graphics memory

now if you dont beielve this one is better then the one mentioned by the other guy look the parts up here http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ for the video cards, the one in this hp are in the high end and the geforce 310 are in medium- range, http://www.cpubenchmark.net/ , for hte cpu, there are a lot of i5 processors but only one a8-5500 , quick way to search them is clicking ctrl+ f then just type in the main namel ike a8-5500 and bam.

Best parts for a gaming computer around 600 dollars?
Q. My dad can put computers together, but i would like to know what parts i should get for a gaming computer, for around 600 dollars. I am looking for the top fps i can get, i know this obviously is not a lot of money for a gaming computer, but i wanted to see if anyone could give me any suggestions

A. I just whipped this together, might take some tweaking. Have your dad look it over:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Processor (Quad x 3.20 GHz) - $120
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5752143&CatId=4432

Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H Motherboard (Supports DirectX 10.1) - $70
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7109093&CatId=5539

2 x 2GB RAM 1333MHz (4GB all together) - $35
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1239959&CatId=4534

Radeon HD 5830 - $150
http://www.thrift-king.com/hardware/video-capture-editing/powercolor-pcs-hd5830-1gb-gddr5-pci-ex-video-card.html

600w Power Supply - $35
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6448054&CatId=1483

1TB HDD (Western Digital, unfortunately) - $65
http://www.thrift-king.com/hardware/western-digital-hdd-1tb-wd10ears-caviar-green-sata3-0-desktop-storage-64mb-cache-bare.html

Subtotal: $475 Not including tax (TigerDirect may include tax, I'm not totally sure)

----

To do with the remainder:

1 - Try to find a motherboard (which still supports an AM3 slot for the processor) that supports DirectX 11.

2 - Consider upping the 5830 GCard to a 5870 if you have the money. It's about $80 more but it's a lot more powerful. Consult this list:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

3 - Lastly, if you don't have a case already, throw in a cheap case.

4 - If you don't have a monitor, scrap the last 3 "To do's" and buy the best one you can afford.

----

That's my two cents. I tried to match the best items I could find for the budget given to work as well with each other as possible. That's a pretty decent gaming PC - especially for the price. It will play any game out there today without a problem.

Of course I'm just giving you the hardware. You wouldn't have to buy them from the links I've given you.

The only downside is there isn't much room for expanshion. When it is time to upgrade the PC a few years down the road, you'll have to throw out the motherboard and the power supply. I will suggest getting a motherboard with two PCI 2.0 slots, buying another GCard (the same as you decided to go with initially) and a 800W or over power supply. Then crossfire the cards, and your machine will have almost twice the gaming power.

Hope this helped. The little bits and bobs (like internet cards) are really cheap now days (~$10) so don't worry about them yet.

Computer/League of Legends Help.......?

Q. I downloaded iLoL (the Mac version) from mediafire as a link from Boompje.net. I have a macbook air (july 2011 version) with iOS version 10.7.5. I go to play the game and everything is fine, but when I actually start a match, every time I click the window un-highlights and then re-highlights a second later. This means that I can't click in quick succession because while the window is unhighlighted it does not receive input from the trackpad or mouse. Also the game is not full screen and I cannot seem to make it full screen without messing it up. Is it just where I got the game from? Because If anyone has a better link or download that would be appreciated, or if someone else has had the same problem and found out how to fix it and can leave an answer. Thanks!

A. Why would you download League of Legends from mediafire when the game is free to play? Why wouldn't you just download the game from the OFFICIAL game website instead of some third-party website that probably doesn't even have the latest patch files. That would be like going out and buying oxygen tanks because you don't want the free air around you....

What is a good/well priced computer for gaming (league of legends/streaming)?
Q. title says it im just curious specs that would be good and where i should look. atm my specs are an out of date laptop with vista 2.53 ghz 6.0 gb 64 bit asus but im curious to get something within the past two years or so that would work well. Price range is unsure thinking on the cheaper side so would be nice for like 300/400 but I have no clue if that's at all reasonable for a computer that does games. I don't need it to be incredible just good enough to play and stream would be nice. Also prices around 600/700 would be nice just don't know how much I really need bc I don't need a spaceship just an upgrade.

A. A $600- range wont get you a very nice laptop for gaming. It will probably have an integrated graphic card, which will only allow you to at best play LoL at medium settings. Streaming wouldnt be a problem though. Good gaming laptops with dedicuated gpu costs at least $800+
Here's a $400 laptop with decent cpu and integrated gpu http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i15RV-10000BLK-15-6-Inch-Textured/dp/B00AM7MM84/ref=zg_bs_565108_15

I need a budget gaming computer build $330?

Q. I have $330 and want to build a starter gaming computer with preferably with Intel processor but i might consider AMD's i need this to be upgradable and run games fairly well i will be playing games like dayz, battlefield 3 and starcraft 2 i am aware that $350 is not enough for a good gaming PC but that is why i need it too be upgradeable so i can add a graphics card in the future as well as upgrade other things. Thanks in advance i would prefer to get links to computer parts but if you find a computer that would suit my needs i will look at those also and i would prefer links from newegg and amazon because i already have accounts there and have bought from them before but again other places will be looked at.

A. for that price, you are going to be building and AMD System. I personally prefer Intel for the satiability, Only get 4GB RAM to start, because games are all 32-bit thus far and 32-bit cant use more then 3.8 GBs or ram anyway, you don't need more the 4 GB for Gaming. You can upgrade this later when you have the money to 8GB ( I wouldn't go any higher the 8 cause anymore then that is a waste of money as a computer wont utilize that much unless 64 bit video editing.

I will give you the links to what I would do, both Intel and AMD options.

For either AMD or Intel system system start with this for RAM and buy one more when you have the money.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148346

For your motherboard i would go with this one because MSI Makes solid motherboards and this one is quite cheap and will do anything you need to do.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130656

Hard Drive: Seagate is very reliable and this is the best deal on new egg at the moment.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697

Graphics card: this the cheapest card with GDDR5 memory that will play games decent
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130808

Case: this is a fairly cheap case that comes with a 480W Power supply.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811148062

Processor: The new Ivy Bridge Pentium is a very capable CPU for cheap. Its more then enough for most games. Its dual core and most games cant use more then that. battlefield 3 can use more cores but you will only notice maybe a 2 or 3 Frame per second drop max.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116886

All together that is about $330 without shipping. It doesnt include an operating system so you will have to "find that somewhere else" It will play your games pretty well.

for the AMD Build Use the same RAM and Case + PSU

go with this CPU: It is a bit more because it has a decent graphics card on the same chip that should play any game.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103942

and this cheaper MSI board:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130641

So the AMD one build is around $285 without shipping again without the operating system. both will Run your games decently well. (I would do the Intel on personally)

Hope that helps
cheers

£400 budget for gaming computer?
Q. Can I get a decent gaming computer monitor and keyboard for £400? I don't need a high end one, but it would need to play most games, what kind of game is the boundary for this budget... Battlefield 4 or minesweeper? Please be reasonable and not just say I Need a budget or £1000. I don't mind second hand as long as there isn't a risk...also a link would get you best answer

A. build it yourself is the way to go so it will come true, a gaming PC including a monitor and keyboard & mouse.

here's the parts list
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2UvH9

I can't guarantee if Amazon still sells that 23 inch monitor for £69.91 but on their homepage they claim that 20 of them are in stock.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046W0RVU/?tag=pcp0f-21

as the operating system I suggest to get a free Linux based one
http://zorin-os.com/index.html
quote from Zorin Linux:
"The Look Changer lets you change your desktop to look and act like either Windows 7, XP, Vista"

the most demanding games that can be played would be Skyrim, Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 on high, Battlefield 4 on low/medium settings.
