What is a good inexpensive gaming laptop?

Q. I need a laptop for games like Planetside 2, SWTOR, Guild wars 1/2, NBA 2k13 etc and for wording, and vchats. I use my computer a lot and my older computer that I am using at the moment is failing to meet my requirements. I heard that MSI is a really good brand so what is a good gaming laptop. I have around 500-800 dollars right know but I most likely will be able to have a budge between 800-1000 maybe 1100. Tips on how to make this money as a teen would be nice to. So please name some good laptops that would fit my need. MSI preferred other brands please state and the reasons why thank you and have a happy holiday.

A. wow.... you need good laptop that is fit for gaming. best gaming laptops are dell alienware but those will not fit in your budget so I recommend you dell xps 14 or dell xps 13 or sony vaio t series 13.

these are all best gaming laptops of today and are 3rd gen laptops so graphics cards and all are installed from before hand. also these come with the new windows 8 os which will completely change your gaming experience.

happy to help

Do most computer games work with Windows Vista?
Q. I've been wanting to buy this laptop, but it comes with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition built in. Would I still be able to install most computer games on my laptop?

A. You can probably install them, but running them is a different thing. Very few things work with Vista. Your printer, scanner, camera, sometimes the keyboard, mouse, CD & DVD drives all require new drivers and even then sometimes they don't work. It is highly doubtful that games prior to XP will work at all, and XP games have some problems, so I'm told by my friends who now have Vista and wish they didn't!

A. Your question doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They have the same internet in the Philippines as we do. The websites that originate in that country end in ph though. So google would be www.google.com.ph

For my gaming computer what should i spend the most money on?

Q. So im building a gaming computer and i want to save as much money as I can. I just want to know what I should spend the most money on. Should I buy and good video card and motherboard, or good motherboard and cpu, or cpu and memory, etc. Please help?

A. Graphics card. Always focus on CPU and GPU - make sure your CPU isn't bottlenecking your GPU.

Don't listen to that asshole below me. An unused RAM is a waste RAM. So don't waste your money on too many RAM like 16-32GB. It's ridiculous. Just get any 8GB (2x 4GB) 1600MHz CL9 memory will do.

What parts should I buy for my gaming computer?
Q. I want to make my own gaming computer, but I would also like to save some money. The most I would want to pay for a computer would be $800. The point is, can anyone give me a good price and performance build for a desktop gaming computer? I plan to use my current monitor, keyboard, and mouse to save some more money. If the parts you suggest are incompatible with certain keyboards, monitors, or mouses please tell me. (I wouldn't know why)

A. Just look at Best Buy for a gaming computer for that price. Some of the deals are amazing.

What is the best custom gaming computer?

Q. i would like to know the best custom gaming computer i can buy with a budget of $1000-1500. I don't need a monitor. Yes i do want the best of what i can afford.

A. It would obviously be a custom one, built by yourself. You can't get a lower price than by doing it that way. For your budget, I'd recommend getting an AMD 7850, an i5 2500k (or, wait until the new LGA 2011 i5's come out, and get one around the same price, which is what I would recommend), 2x4GB of RAM, a 600-650W 80 Plus Bronze certified power supply, and the rest is pretty much just preference. Building a computer is very easy, and shouldn't take more than 3 hours doing it your first time. There's literally only about 7 parts and some cords, and they all snap together like Lego. This video series tells you pretty much everything you need to know about building one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw

It doesn't tell you much about choosing the parts, though, so if you want extra help on that, feel free to message me on here.
Building it yourself will ensure that you get what you pay for. You can go ahead and buy low quality parts that might break in a few months and save a hundred bucks or less in the process, or you can spend a bit more for quality. Newegg.com usually has the best prices on parts, and has great customer support.

Edit: I forgot a couple things. I'd recommend a 64GB SSD. Specifically, this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148441
Install the operating system, and programs that you use very often on it. You'll notice an extremely large loading speed boost with an SSD. Also, if you have a measurable amount of money left over, you may want a larger (128GB; I recommend sticking with the M4 series) SSD, or a better graphics card, eg. the AMD 7950, 7970, or GTX 680.

How to copy a computer game cd on a laptop?

Q. I want to make a copy of a computer game cd i have but only have a laptop on hand. How can i do so?

A. Built to order computers
Martin K

It really depends on the game, Mainly, It depends on the format of the game.

Now to be clear, to you want to copy a computer game CD to a laptop
(Meaning do you want to transfer the entire game from CD to Hard Drive)

or do you want to just make a copy of the Disc from your laptop.

if you want to just copy the disc, Generally your best option is nero
and you select the Copy Disc option, This will create an exact duplicate of the Disc

Of course this only works, Assuming that your laptop has a Burner.

The other factor to consider is Copyright,... Meaning that for example if it's a Playstation 2 Game, Burning is Easy, Playstation 3, much more difficult.

Soi once again, i need to know what game it is. and i can give you a better answer.

What high school classes should a kid take to get accepted into college for computer game design?
Q. My son is a sophomore in high school and wants to become a computer game designer. what kind of classes should he take while still in high school to make have the best chance at getting accepted into college for computer game design? Also, should he be doing anything extra-curricular?

A. The best course of action in high school is always to take the most challenging classes you can that your school offers. It's very important to have a base of core classes. Encourage him to take electives that he's interested in and relate to computer science and/or graphic design.
Also, extracurriculars are very important. Your son should try to develop well-rounded interests. Volunteer work is very important. As far as computer game designing goes, try to get him into some kind of computer club at his school or in your community. This will expose him to what he'll be studying in college.

How much does it cost me to build my gaming desktop?
Q. So I heard that building your own desktop computer is more beneficial in terms of performance, to the computer, than actually buying a pre-built one. Anyway, I was wondering what type of gaming computer do I get to have/build if I'm on a budget of a maximum of $1k.. Is it good? Like, I want it to mainly run a couple of games nice & easy. League of Legends for example is one of these games. I want to run it full graphics & resolution. Does my budget of a gaming pc allow me to do that? + can you suggest me some great specs that go with that budget? Thanks :)

A. 1k is more than enough. I built 2 for $800 each for my g/f's cousins which can play pretty much anything out there. They can even play Final Fantasy XIV on max settings (look up the gameplay for the game and requirements).

I go to newegg.com and get my parts there. The most important thing is to make sure the parts work with each other. For example if the motherboard you are getting is Micro ATX, you need to make sure the computer case has Micro ATX as one of the formats it can hold, otherwise the holes/screws won't line up. Same goes for the RAM, Processor, Video Card.....you need to make sure their sockets are supported with the motherboard. If the Video Card says it needs a PCI express you need to make sure that slot is available on the motherboard or it won't fit.

I'd recommend going with 3.0+ ghz for the processor, 8gb RAM, 1TB harddrive (500gb is ok too). I personally use Radeon video cards, but Nvidia is another popular one people like. Video Cards are the most expensive most of the time. I just bought a Radeon HD 7870 I think for $250? I forget. lol But, my previous Radeon HD 5850 was good enough to play anything. If you can splurge on the video card go for it...if not....do what I did for those 2 PC's I built....bought a used Radeon HD 5850 for $80 on ebay. People try to recover a little of their money when they upgrade to a newer video card, but that doesn't mean the one they're selling is no good. Some people just like to have top of the line all the time. :)

If you're "new" to building your PC here's what I recommend....

Go to cyberpowerpc.com and custom build your own PC. It'll make sure you only select parts that work with one another. When you have the specs you want write those parts down and go to newegg to bring them up and see how much cheaper it would cost if you put them together yourself. Cyberpowerpc has good prices. I buy from them when I don't want to built it myself.

Don't forget you also need to buy Windows 7 (windows 8 suuuucks) when you build your own PC. Just look up on ebay Windows 7 OEM. OEM is basically bulk orders of windows 7. They're just the CD and the registration code (minus the box and minus $100+ if you bought it at the store).

I'd also recommend a powersupply of at least 700watts.

What college and courses should i take for game design?

Q. I'm wondering what college i should go to for game design and what courses i should take. I specifically want to go into the programming aspect of game design. Not sure what the difference between undergrad and grad is, so which would probably be better and why.
I want to study in the US. Preferably in colleges in texas, but if there are better colleges in other states, i wouldnt mind. And i do plan on working on some games, maybe become a indie developer, throughout my education so maybe i can get an upperhand on other folks who are going into the same career as me.
Also is it better for me to pursue a undergrad or grad degree is what i meant earlier.

A. If you want to study in UK there's a course called game designing so you could look up for that... I'm not sure if you can take that course somewhere else beside UK, but if you can't just go and study computer science and while studying work on your own projects ... For instance, I want to be a game developer some day... At the moment I'm in highschool and I'm studying Economics, I have a few programs on my laptop such as unity and blender and I give myself a tasks every now and then just to get a feel of it ... Eventually I'll know much more things than someone who attended school which studies that subjecsts because I'm constantly looking for something and on the way of looking I'm seeing and learning other things too, on the other hand, kids on college which study game development will maybe know less because "their profesor didn't show them that"...
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is:
Study CS, work on your own and you'll succeed

Would Game Design be a concentration of a Computer Science major?
Q. I'm filling out college applications and I was wondering what exactly a concentration is, and what would be one in a computer science major. Hopefully game design because that is what i really want to learn.

A. You could major in computer science at first and then later transfer to a more advanced program where you can major in game design or advanced video game graphing, etc. It really does depend on the school.

What is the best yet affordable computer on the market?

Q. I am going to buy a new computer for myself for Christmas and want to know from the people of Yahoo! what I should get. I play a lot of computer games, I think that's all I really need to include on what I'm going to use my computer for. Are Vistas any good? Better than XP's? I have no idea. Majority will be victorious so tell your friends. :P

A. Dell for support, E machines / Gateway for price, all pc's you get will come with windows 7 installed that is the newest operating system from Microsoft, games will require a decent video card with 256mgs of ram

Q. I am addicted to drink, drugs, gambling, sex, porn, fetish, food, computer games, sport, work, speed, Yahoo answers, Youtube, collecting Metal CD's, they dont always make a good combination.

A. Moderate how much you use and when. Avoid compulsion.

If you can't control yourself (discipline as the fellow above stated) you might find yourself face down in the gutter, a mirror in your pocket and a razor in your back.

Does best buy sell gaming computers that can run skyrim on high settings? How much?
Q. Ill have about 1000-1500 dollars and i really want a good gaming computer.

A. Hello

Yes, most of the time they sell the Dell Aurora. But...the problem here is that the warranty is horrible. And you may not upgrade your pc until warranty is over.

You are best if you build your own computer...is better, last longer and is customize. I build gaming pc of all tipes of choices...let me know if you are interested.

What computer games require high end computers?

Q. Basically, what computer games out there basically Require like a super decked out computer to be played? Curious because im getting an alienware computer and don't want to spend the awesome power for gaming on the computer only playing WoW. So what list of games out there is High-end cpu's basically meant for? Thnx in advance.

A. No games are only meant for high end PC's and can be played on an average computor but the game is laggy on them. Games like:
Oblivion
MW2
Fallout....

World of Warcraft would not really require a powerful PC it could work fine on an average desktop.

How can I increase the world of warcraft game download speed, when I'm using the blizzard downloader?
Q. I have McAffee personal firewall plus installed and fully running when I try to install the entire wow game using Blizzard downloader. The download speed is only about 2 or 3 megabytes per second for 3.16 gigabytes of download. I do not wish to open any ports, as I think this might allow viruses to get in my computer.

A. Go to file planet and down load from there, you can turn off your virus protection to down load from an official site with out worry to getting a computer virus.

To be honest I don't run virus protection, however I don't go to any unofficial sites, I also don't open any type of email with attachments even from friends. And have not had a virus for over 10 years now. Opening ports has nothing to do with getting a virus. I am sure you get prompt for any download you do make.

How much computer stuff would I need to play Rome Total War 2 for optimum performance and graphics?

Q. Need a new computer. Not really a tech junkie so keep the explanation simple. What kind of computer would be good? How many graphics or Sound cards would I need? How much will it cost me to play this game. Im such a fan I must know

A. Well it's not released yet, so nobody is 100% certain right now. However, it's going to have a new engine and people expect it will have similar requirements to Total War: Shogun 2.

http://diaryofdennis.wordpress.com/2012/07/03/total-war-rome-2-estimated-system-requirements-and-release-date-probably-2013/

So basically, that means a desktop computer around $800-$900. The bottom-line specs you'll want:

1 - Core i5 processor (2nd or 3rd generation)

2 - At least 4GB of RAM (almost all new systems come with 8GB anyway)

3 - A graphics card around $125-$150, at least a Radeon HD 7770 or GeForce GTX 560 SE. Get a $170 card like a GeForce GTX 560 or Radeon HD 6870 and you'll be way in the clear.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5541/amd-radeon-hd-7750-radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition-review/14

Building from scratch is the best option, as pre-built systems typically don't have good graphics cards. You could always buy a $600 computer from Best Buy and upgrade the graphics card and power supply yourself, or pay a tech to install 'em for you. You could also look into getting a custom-built system from CyberpowerPC or Ibuypower's websites, but that costs more.

Here are some stock computers that would work:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229335
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227412
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227435

But you'd be better off buying this:
http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-DX-Series-DX4860-UR14P-Desktop/dp/B007W11590/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1349292447&sr=1-2&keywords=gateway+desktop+i5

Then adding these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371031
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130661

If you're planning to play on a full HD monitor (1920x1080 resolution) then you should get a 2GB graphics card. But the card model is more important than the memory. Don't think for a second that a $60 card with 2GB would work. You'll need a gaming-level card, like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129230

Anyway, upgrading a starting computer might save you $100-$150 compared to looking for a pre-built system with the specs you want.

Is buying a old computer with newer parts better?
Q. I've been looking on sites like dell.com, and you know other computer websites, and it seems that if you buy a older pc model with newer parts than it is alot cheaper and would run better, is this true?

A. It depends upon how you plan to use the computer.

If you write papers using windows wordpad or Microsoft Word, use spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, chat and IM, email and perhaps listen to music or watch an occassional You Tube
or other television, and you facebook or online date, an older PC with at least a Pentium 4 at 2 gigahertz is sufficient, and an 80 gig hard drive. Minimum 512 megabytes preferably 1 gigabyte.

However, if you plan on storing music and videoes, and you want to burn CD's or DVD's or you want to use a TV tuner card, you need at least 2006 year technology, which means an Athlon dual core or an Intel core 2 duo. You would need at least 1 gigabyte of ram too. This is
also important if you want to run an operating system such as Window 7 or Vista (Vista had problems, only get it if it is already installed on the older computer you are buying) .

HOWEVER, if you are a gamer, especially if you play highly graphical role playing online games
such as Star Wars - The Old Republic, YOU WILL NOT LIKE AN OLD COMPUTER.

I am not a gamer so I don't understand this fully, but those who play that game are always complaining about processors that seem extremely fast to me. If you are a gamer or plan to
be one, you need a 4 core 8 thread intel processor such as an i7 955 and an extremely powerful
graphics card. That means 2011+ technology such as a radeon hd 6850 graphics card and either
an intel i5 or i7 processor, OR an AMD Phenom ii x4 processor from 840 to 955 or higher. If it is
x6 or x8, that is even better. The x number is the number of processor cores on an AMD processor. If you want to watch Blu Rays or other 1080p multimedia, you need an extremely
powerful processor, although intel i3 or AMD Athlon ii's of at least 2.5 gigahertz should be sufficient.

IF YOU ARE NOT A GAMER, those expensive processors are unnecessary, a simple dual core
is more than enough to accomplish every nongaming task I can imagine (with the possible exception
of multimedia, converting a movie from one file format to another- or working with high definition
video content.

In 2012, you don't, for any task, want any processor older than a Pentium 4, except possibly
if you run Ubuntu or other Linux, a Pentium iii of 1 gigahertz will run ok, for basic tasks.

I would only buy a Pentium III box if it were $12 or less. Pentium 4 boxes upto 1 gigabyte of ram
and up to a 120 gig hard drive WITH A LICENSED COPY of Windows XP should be $110 or less
new and $50 with the licensed XP if used. If you have to get your own Windows XP, then the box should be $40 or less, not including your monitor or including a CRT monitor.

I am looking to a great pç which can play 2012 games so can some one plz give me a some advice. Thx

A. i would suggest building you're own pc, you get the most for you're money!
but if you're not into that kind of thing, then go to a computer shop, as in a shop that sells computers only and get them to do a custom build for you and do a bit of research to make sure there not ripping you off, or just post the specs they said they could give you for the money on here, and say is this a good pc for the money. you would most likely get a quick reply to that sort of thing, good luck! :)

Should I build a gaming computer? or Buy one pre Built?
Q. I always hear that building a gaming computer is cheaper and better, however I dont know a thing about how to build one and how to get all the parts to be compatible and I dont even know where I would began to start searching to find all the parts for the best price to me it just seems like building one would be easier. I'll just give you a little background on what I plan to play, I want to have a computer that can run BF3 on High settings and get around 60+ FPS, also be able to play minecraft on Far with 60+ FPS, Can someone assist me in what I should do, I have $1000 to spend towards this computer, If you are able to help me it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me some of the main components to have on the computer so I at least know where to start. I have set aside $300 dollars for a monitor and already have a keyboard and mouse so I will not need to use the $1000 towards that. If Making a computer within my wanted specifications isn't possible please let me know.

A. YES, building your own gaming desktop computer is better, cheaper and also very rewarding.

Buying is not a good solution for a gaming PC, even custom ordering is not so good.
Manufacturers and PC builders want to get as much money from you for as less computer as they can trick you into buying...

Building a computer is very simple, and lots of tutorials, including video tutorials are available on the Internet.
I know 12-13 year old kids that built gaming computers....

For parts, the best selection and price you will find on Newegg.com (USA and Canad only), or use PC Parts Picker site for any location worldwide.
http://www.newegg.com/
http://pcpartpicker.com/

For $1000 to $1100 you can build a very good gaming computer, for $1300 you can build the best.

Yahoo answers will only allow up to 10 links, so I have to leave out the not so important components. Just copy paste in the search field on Newegg to find them, I will give the full name but no link for those.

BEST GAMING DESKTOP PC BUILD FOR THE MONEY (around $1,000.00USD for the tower only)
Monitor, keyboard and mouse can add from $175 to over $500, depending on size and model you want.
All prices are in $USD and in the USA, current as of December 2012 and they might be slightly different one way or the other by now.
Also, some shipping charges may apply to some of the items.
Add your state sales tax if you reside in NJ, CA or TN - that's where Newegg has warehouses.
Look for similar parts on Amazon, Tiger Direct, etc if you want to avoid paying Uncle Sam.

FACT: INTEL IS A MUCH BETTER PROCESSOR FOR GAMING THAN ANY AMD.

What is the best gaming computer on the market today?

Q. I'm looking for a great gaming computer, preferably under a grand. Plz note i have no idea what things cost.

A. The BEST gaming computer is the one that has the best hardware for the price. alienware will NEVER EVER be in that category....

You can build you own computer from like http://newegg.com that would stomp any alienware for 1/3 the cost. (i have actually built a close match, had to upgrade some areas, of the $4000 alienware for under $1500).

If you really dont want to build your own, go to http://ibuypower.com or http://cyberpowerpc.com and you can have custom gaming computers built. Its MUCH cheaper then alienware with MUCH more selection.

For that budget you could easily get something like:

core i5-2500 (i wouldnt get the K version unless you plan to overclock)
8gb of ram (you only need 4 really, but i guess 8 will make sure you never have to buy ram again until ddr3 is outdated lol)
1tb hdd 7200rpm 32/64mb cache
AMD 6850/6870/6950 are good choices for graphics cards.

that should easily fall under a $1000 or less budget. and you can easily play any games on max settings @ 1080P resolution.

What kind of gaming computer do I buy?
Q. I need a good computer that will play new games without lag. Also, I need it to be under $1500. Some suggestions for graphics cards would be appreciated too. I don't know much about computers, so I need some help :)

A. CPU Guide

GPU Guide

Also get a Kingston SSD because it has exceptional RANDOM read/write meaning you can start multiple applications at the same time in under 5 seconds instead of 60 seconds - It is a Inten X25-M clone for less money but without TRIM firmware.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139005&cm_re=kingston_ssd-_-20-139-005-_-Product

Get a 500GB per platter (High aerial density for Speed) Spindle drive for storage - Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB or 1TBSeagate 7200.11 1.5TB - avoid caviar black at 1TB, 1.5TB and 750GB capacities. You can buy this separately from newegg.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/storage/2009/10/06/samsung-spinpoint-f3-1tb-review/3

I would get a iBuyPower computer if you are not building it yourself
This has 8GB, i7 750, GTX 285, 800W PSU for $1200 - can't beat that
http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Configurators.aspx?mid=460
You can install a 5870 (or two) or a GTX 295 for only $200 more and put in a Kinsgton SSD and buy a Spinspoint F3 from newegg for $1500.

Someone who was a young adult or teen in the 90s?

Q. I was born in 1993 but don't remember much of the 90s but it seemed like a fun generation. I hate this generation now, can't talk to anyone cause their eyes are glued to their phone, the music now is absolutely fake and horrible, I love 90s music though. Was the 90s fun and better to live in?

A. You know something, I was looking at a video of someone driving in a car from 2006. Where were their eyes? On someone else, on the road, etc. And recently a video of 2012, where were the passengers eyes? On their iPhones the whole time, music going in the car; no one can appreciate scenery anymore. Gotta blast the music and whip out the phones, so I hear you there.

The 1990s were good. I'm around your age, but I know far more about the decade, primarily because my memory dates back to 1998.

Until just recently, we all went outside, we all couldn't stay inside (parents wouldn't let us), or be on the computer for long. We all looked at each other as humans, not as gametags or usernames on their internet. Friends meant, getting your ass over to THEIR house and seating your ass on THEIR chair, even playing what videos games there were back them, (N64, dreamcast in 2000 but close to 1990s, playstation one haha)

Not texting them, or not Even in the MySpace days, no one was ever so anti-social, so I feel you there. Pretty much anything 1980s or 1990s was a breeze and joy to live in compared to nowadays. And the pre-2001 viewpoint on society, and people, and strangers, was refreshing compared to now. You could feel comfortable talking to strangers about simple, non-personal things sometimes. Nowadays, we've let paranoia get the best of everything we do in therms of communication. Have a listen to a some music from the 90s. Look at some videos, jeopary, news, whatever to feel the decade. Look up when the Internet started up and became popular! AOL Dial-up sounds. And don't forget, the early 2000s, like 2000-2003, even 2004-2005 or so, was a lot like the feeling of the 1990s to some extent. Look at some gameshows that carried into the 1990s (I love gameshows, but that's mostly a 1980s topic). Enjoy the graphics that were decent (total crap today but I like them), but not developed enough and still required imagination and creativity.

What was Paranormal Activity 4 like?
Q. I'm going to see it tomorrow. :) I never seen any of them, but I really wanna see this one. I hear the ending is hella scary. What's the ending like, for people who seen it? I really don't wanna have a heart attack there. LOL , cause I sawthe apparition, and it wasn't scary at ALL. Just the sounds.
THANKS! (:

A. 'Paranormal 4' is one trip too many to the 'found footage' well

Published: October 19, 2012

By ROGER MOORE — McClatchy-Tribune News Service

The jig is up and the joke's on us.

The weakest, most derivative and funniest film in the "Paranormal Activity" quartet still can claim that a few of its cheap-jolts-that-pass-for-frights work. So does my ancient KitchenAid washer. That doesn't mean I'm not bored with it and that I don't keep it out of sight - in the garage.

Which is where one of the best scenes of this best-scene-starved new installment takes place.

It opens with a 2006 flashback, home movies of a toddler being coddled by his "Aunt" Katie, played by Katie Featherson, the young woman chased by demons. "Hunter," the baby, "was never seen again."

Cut to last November and Nevada, where a family of four meets a real "Danny doesn't live here, Mrs. Torrance" 6-year-old who's moved in across the street. Robbie (Brady Allen) is a loner with scary eyes. His mom has to go to the hospital, so he comes to stay with the Nelsons. He whispers to an invisible friend, clings to their son his own age, Wyatt (Aiden Lovekamp), and scares the willies out of nubile and curious Alex (Kathryn Newton), 15, and her tech-savvy Alex-lusting boyfriend, Ben (Matt Shively, funny).

Who is Robbie talking to?

"You'll find out," he warns.

The teens' late-night video chats inspire Ben, when he isn't putting the moves on Alex, to rig up computers to record video in much of the house. So whenever Alex says "It's three in the morning. And I just heard a noise," she picks up a laptop and walks it downstairs to investigate. There's a smattering of cell phone and camcorder footage, for those who like to keep track of the "who?" "why?" and "how?" this footage is gathered.

The kids are onto something. And the adults (Alexondra Lee, Stephen Dunham) aren't listening.

"Paranormal Activity 4" isn't content to merely recycle gags and bring back characters from the earlier films in the most successful "found footage" series of them all. Because that plainly isn't enough. Now, they're shoehorning homages to "The Shining" into it, and delivering that staple of modern horror, horny teenagers, to the peril.

A kitchen knife shows up, foreshadowing later events. Wyatt rides his big wheel through the frame, and chairs mysteriously slide out to block his way.

The novel addition here is making use of a phenomenon of the video game age - the dot matrix that your xBox Kinect uses to track movements for you to play the game without hand-held controllers. Point a camera at a room where the Kinect is on and the lights are out and watch ghostly shapes of little boys follow creepy Robbie around in the dark.

But even that isn't that frightening. Everything the co-directors of "Paranormal 3" show us in "Paranormal 4," they show too much of. Mysteries are solved so blatantly that there are no surprises. So they resort to the cheapest of cheap scares - Alex or the family cat lunging into the frame in extreme, EXTREME closeup (this is supposed to be a computer screen they're coming at) at opportune moments.

The lengthy lulls of surveillance footage that set up the frights are as suburbanly bland as ever. It's just that our patience for them is gone.

Showcase that you'd expect these hit movies to be, actors - either those menaced or those lurching along menacingly - don't launch their careers with them. That's because the formula needs them to be generic and turns them passive in the face of the supernatural. Alex's odd proactive character moment here stands out because that's not what they've been hired to be. Just try (not too hard) to alert others to the menace, sit back and let things happen to you.

Just like the audience. At least this time we, like they, know this jig is up. Which is why they went for laughs to break up the monotony.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4

1.5 stars (Grade: D-minus)

Cast: Kathryn Newton, Matt Shively, Brady Allen, Katie Featherston, Aiden Lovekamp, Alexondra Lee, Stephen Dunham

Is it possible to be addicted to computer games and are any support groups available thru the university?

Q. My son is away at college but for several years, before he left, played computer games for countless hours at a time.

He has canceled several classes and it fits a pattern. He plays Computer games all night and can't get up for AM classes..

A. Yes it is possible. (It's also possible to be addicted to yahoo answers <g>) In principle, it is possible to be addicted to anything.

If he himself wants to change, he can approach the student counseling service. This is one of the behaviours that counseling (aka psychotherapy) can help with. There is likely to be an underlying discontent from which computer games is his attempt to escape.

But mom or dad wanting son to be different from who he is...... sorry, luv..... that has been around since Adam and Eve had a problem with a delinquent son called Cain. The more you are able to love him as he is (without pretending to approve his behavior), the better your prospects of his choosing the change that you would like to see.

If you are willing, you can pray passionately for him, too .... more has been accomplished by the power of prayer than is known to have been. (Prayer to be effective needs to be persistent, frequent, deep, heart-felt, genuine, and earnest.)

And I would encourage you not to despair of him, whatever happens. For example, sometimes people learn from experience. If he drops out this year, he may learn from the consequences and go back to college later in life when he is more emotionally ready. Or he may find his way to happiness without a degree.

Where should I buy a cheap computer?

Q. We need a new desktop. I want something up to date and reliable which is good for checking email, paying bills, downloading videos and is inexpensive. We don't need it for video games or anything really fast like that. Where is the best place to buy a cheap computer?

A. First question is how cheap?
There are used PCs as both laptops and desktops on Craigslist and Goodwill stores for under $100.
They are not up to date and not necessarily reliable, but they function, and that is cheap.

The second is about your monitor-display, or are you using a TV that hopefully is higher resolution than x768. 720p TVs cause display issues in WIndows 8. Most computers today do not include the monitor, but do include a keyboard and mouse, and may or may not include USB speakers.

Third question is whether you go ethernet connected by cable, or do you need wireless. Some computers include wireless. Others need an added PCI card or USB stick.

Fourth question is form factor. There are towers called desktops in various sizes and go down to slimline and bookshelf and mini's. Often, you get better performance out of a low priced laptop, especially if including a display, and the laptops usually have HDMI outputs and can accept inexpensive mice, keyboards, improved speakers, and have portability.

With form factor goes the ease of upgrade or repair. In general, the larger and less integrated the system, the easier it is to repair or upgrade it.

Although you do not need high performance, we usually want the best value for the money, and a bit faster response times can't hurt. More ram is better. Larger HDD is better. CPU scores can be looked up:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
A second tab has graphics scores that are less important to you.

Places to buy are many in the US.
There are weekly sales of a couple of models and clearances.
Walmart, Staples, Best Buy, Newegg.com, Tigerdirect.com, Amazon.com gets you a variety and you can google a model once you find one to see if it is offered for less somewhere else.

You read a couple of surveys on quality:
2012 survey:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2020964/apple-and-lenovo-desktop-pcs-tops-in-satisfaction.html
2011 Survey:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/244481/desktop_pc_reliability_and_satisfaction_dell_and_hp_home_pcs_get_poor_grades.html
and use it as a factor, but Apple is expensive for what you get.

My sister wanted what you describe. She has a few older PCs and monitors, but wanted one where the internet worked faster and boot up faster and application responsiveness up to $500 and she ended up with a Lenovo H430 at Staples with Windows 8, a Core i5-3330 and 8GB RAM and a 1TB HDD and that met her requirements well in a tower pc.

Now, you start with a couple that meet your needs and see if you can do better:
A basic slimline Acer-Gateway for $340
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113245
Model SX2370-UR13
A6-Series APU A6-3620(2.2GHz)
1x4GB DDR3 500GB 7200 RPM SATA III HDD
AMD Radeon HD 6530D
Gigabit ethernet, Bluetooth and WiFi
memory card reader
2USB 3.0 in back. 4USB 2.0
VGA and HDMI outputs
CPU score 2924, and graphics G3D 548
It would be nice to buy and install a second 4GB RAM card. That is easy.
$30 to $35 in a do-it-yourself
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/memory/#t=11&v=1500&z=4096&c=90&n=1&sort=a8
Just match what it has already in speed.
It is an early 2012 CPU below an Intel i3 but still fast enough with graphics power you don't really need but is above Intel integrated HD 4000 but not gaming level. It is the new Windows 8 to get used to, but is a faster boot and shutdown. Does what you want and the price is considered cheap and size is small, but upgrading is minimal.
In Intel, whether Newegg or Walmart at about the same price, size and brand, gets an Intel G640 Pentium with 4GB RAM and 1TB HDD. The CPU and graphics are a little lower in performance but the HDD is bigger:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gateway-SX2865-UR308-Small-Form-Factor-Desktop-PC-with-Intel-Pentium-G640-Processor-4GB-Memory-1TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-8-Monitor-Not-Included/22018103
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113244

The choices are endless, so you have to narrow down your preferences and price point. Then you can just browse the online circulars and sites.

What computer games right have the highest system requirements?

Q. What computer games right have the highest system requirements?

What is that system requirements?

What is the average and highest fps fo all computer games? (high and low system requirements games)

A. What you need:

-A dual core or quad core pentium or AMD (I like
AMD, but pentium is good too).
-2 gigs of DDR2 Ram
-Raided 10000 RPM hard drives. Size is up to you, but bigger is better for storage purposes. The RPM's are the important thing though, and RAID 0 bumps the speed to something fierce.
-NVidea 6800 ultra or better for a graphics card. A dual set up for card is nice, but not strictly necessary.
-450 watt power supply.
-Compatible motherboard (I like Asus better than Abit)
-A 1600-2400 Dpi mouse (noticeable difference there)
-A light-up keyboard so you can play in the dark.
-Soundblaster Audigy w/ speakers & subwoofer.
-Lian Li (or other) case
-Enough fans to keep that SOB cool

You'll be able to play FEAR, Oblivion, Crysis or Far Cry 2 at full optimization AND run a virus scan in the background. No joke man.

Have fun :)

Edit: And definitely go with a lower GHZ dual/quad core over a higher GHZ singlecore. The dual thread architecture is superior in every way, game manufacturers are starting to exploit that.

Looking for good but average price computer for games, programs and a lot more?
Q. I am looking for a good computer with an average price, I am wanting to buy a full computer instead of building one myself if I need to buy some upgrades I will. I want to be able to play computer games such as minecraft, grand theft auto, call of duty, etc. I will also record videos from my Xbox on there and I want to record with no lag. I will also be doing live streaming at 60fps and 1280x720 quality and with no lag. I will also download a lot of programs and do editing such at Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and the program I will use to record from my Xbox. I do understand this is a very expensive computer but I want what I can.

A. There are so many option available in the mall.

What computer components make a computer system good?

Q. I want to know what exact component parts makes a computer gaming system outshine other computers, such as it's graphic card and other components. Can you name a general computer system that is rated for it's gaming features?

A. GPU, CPU and RAM, in that order, I'd say.

I'm more of a laptop enthusiast myself, but the NVidia GTX 29x/39x series seems great, especially in an SLI configuration.

As for CPUs, it can get a little confusing; it depends on what games you're playing. Most games that weren't made in the last three or four years can't take full advantage of more than 2 cores, so a high-power Core 2 Duo is perfect for those, and is what I look for. Otherwise, if you're playing newer games, many very new games can use more than 2 cores, so a good Core i7 CPU is perfect for that - 4 cores with hyperthreading.

Having enough/fast RAM is good, too, but usually won't be the dealbreaker, since it usually won't make that huge of an impact. 4 GB or more is good if you're a heavy-duty gamer (keep in mind you need a 64-bit OS to use more than 3), and look for DDR3 with fast clocks, just make sure your motherboard supports it.

When it comes to DESKTOPS, I can't really name any pre-fab computer brand that shines above the others, but iBuyPower is one place to consider. Personally I'd just build the computer myself; you save a LOT of money that way.

What kind of components and such would i need to build a computer specifically for gaming?
Q. i i know theres a lot of stuff for computers but i want recommendations on what hardware and components to make a custom computer that does the gaming at high levels like the best graphic and gameplay for any computer game (like starcraft 2). budget isen't really a concern i just want to know what to look for.

A. I'll make this very simple. You haven't got to know what it means, it's just something to look out for. Price may be very expensive depending on the hardware you chose. Please bare in mind when you reach a certain point, small upgrades become very very expensive just for that little boost.

CPU - Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 @ 2.66GHz or faster (or 2.4GHz i7 or better)
RAM - 4GB DDR2 Minimum, best to go 1333MHz DDR3 4-8GB
Graphics - at least 1GB graphics best to be 1.5-2.0GB at fastest possible MHz
Sound - depends on your speakers. You shouldn't be paying more than £40 tops ($68) for a sound card
Motherboard - intel extreme (one that supports i7) this supports the full 1333MHz ram too
Case - your choice of case depending on taste. Ensure that there is plenty of room for ventilation and lots of fan spaces. Style should not outweigh function
Monitor - any monitor that supports 1920 x 1080 natively. Any higher and your games will have to be upscaled and will become blurry and horrible to play.
Keyboard and mouse - your choice on comfort and style, generally gamers prefer wireless devices.
Hard drive - 500Gb - 2Tb , this will vary depending what you store on the computer. Most people can get by on 500-1tb, but if you're a music or movie freak with tons and tons of data, you might wanna get a 2tb drive or 2 x 1tb drives. Make sure they are SATA 7200RPM or faster. If you chose Solid state you will be paying a LOT and you won't get as much space, but the performance will be epic
DVD drive. - 2 is preferred, or 2 blu ray supported drives with speeds of a minimum of 24x
Speakers, I'd reccomend creative surround studio, (and creative soundcard to match) to get really decent sound. Creative know their sound stuff.

Hope this helps, and happy shopping

How do you set up real mah jong peices like the computer game?

Q. I bought a mah jong set for a friend..but got a little more then i expected. I got a REAL SET. I would like to know if there are guides out there to use these real peices and set up the cool setups found on computer games.

A. Most people don't realize that those computer games where you match the Mah-Jong tiles really have nothing to do with the *real* game of Mah-Jong. You should take the time to learn the actual game -- it's fascinating, and a lot of fun.

I don't know how you would go about setting up one of those puzzles using real tiles. I think it would take a lot of time, patience, and planning.

How to install a computer game to a netbook from a PC without using the game disc?

I was wondering how you would work the external drive, I have one but how would you transfer data onto it?

A. If the computers are on the same network you can install using the desktop's cd/dvd drive. Just share the cd/dvd drive on your desktop, put the the disk in, and use your netbook to navigate to the share. Run the setup and you will have it installed on your netbook.

What is the best Notebook computer on the market atm in Australia?

Q. I'm looking to get a notebook computer for school between about 1,000 1,300 dollars. I don't take any art subjects, but i need a computer for just basic school work, with a web cam to stay in-contact with family and just a overall well working model with good size memory for music and pictures. Could some please help me out???

A. Well, if it's just for basic schoolwork (I'm guessing taking notes for the most part), you don't need something top-of-the-line. Unless you plan on playing new games on it, you won't be doing anything intensive with it. So look for something cheap and sturdy with a decent warranty and battery life.

So, with that out of the way, Lenovo ThinkPads are good 'serious', sturdy, work-a-day student/business laptops.

I don't know about good Australian places to buy laptops, but this doesn't look too bad http://laptop.com.au/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/15/products_id/492

Edit: Not sure, but the r61 line should come with webcams. At least on some models. Double check!

What is the difference between a netbook and a notebook?
Q. What is the difference between a netbook computer and a notebook computer? I am looking for a laptop mainly for music and school use, not so much gaming. Is it worth it for me to just get a netbook? Or should I get a notebook?

A. netbook is for simple task like working on my MS Office, play music or browsing online. so not powerful to run good graphics. it doesnt have a CD/DVD drive

Notebook is like a home computer but portable

What is the best gaming computer for $500 or less?

Q. I am looking for a very good gaming computer for under $500. It can be already built or just components. I would like a desktop.

A. most average desktop pc's usually have a somewhat decent graphics card. alienware computers are really good on gaming pc's, and there should be a few computers for a little bit more or less than your 500 limit.

What is the best gaming computer you can get under 500$?
Q. i need a decent gaming computer under 500$ tell me a good one please. Thanks.

A. To get one for that price you will be better off building your own. And to build a decent gaming computer for under $500 may be a little difficult unless you have some components you may be reusing, such as power supply, case, etc... If you do have a power supply, you need to check the wattage, you need at least a 500w.

What are some good video cards and for hd video editing and gaming?

Q. I'm building a computer and i'm ordering my parts from new egg soon and i need help choosing a good video card for video editing and gaming. Also can you also recommend a good processor
My budget is around $1000
and by 1000 i mean on the whole pc.

A. *** Update ***

OK, with a $1000 budget I'd suggest the Core i7 2400 and a GTX 560. Or upgrade to the Core i7 2600 if movie editing is more important than anything else.

Here's a great guide with different builds indicated by color code.
http://www.hardware-revolution.com/best-mainstream-gaming-pc-february-2012/

Take the Tier 4 (green) build, eliminate the SSD. That leaves enough money to upgrade to the Core i7 2600. Or you could stick with the Core i5 2400 and get a second 1TB hard drive for storing videos.

******
What's your budget for the whole system, roughly?

Video editing relies primarily on the CPU, having a high-end graphics card doesn't really matter for that. You'll want one of Intel's 2nd generation Sandy Bridge processors along with a Z68 motherboard in order to use Quick Sync. You'll want between 8-16 GB of RAM, and it's best to have two hard drives. Video editing goes smoother when your source and destination folders are on different physical drives.

For gaming you'll want at least a midrange graphics card, a GeForce GTX 460/Radeon HD 6850 or better. Note that the GTX 550 Ti is a lower performance card than the GTX 460, not higher.

I recommend a Core i7 2600 for video editing (or Core i5 2400 if the i7 doesn't fit your budget) along with a GTX 560. That combination can run all games on high settings and most titles maxed. If you wanted an even more powerful graphics card to play games like Battlefield 3 on ultra settings, the Radeon HD 7850 and GeForce GTX 570 are recommended. If you want a really high-end card, the GeForce GTX 680. Of course those models are much more expensive.

There's no point paying extra for the "K" processors since you won't be overclocking (it's not something to attempt if you're not already very familiar with how it works).

Also, the Core i5 2550K lacks the integrated GPU which is required for Quick Sync, so avoid that one- go with the Core i5 2500, 2400 or 2320, or the Core i7 2600 if that's not too expensive.

How much does it cost to build a decent gaming computer?
Q. I'm looking to play League of Legends on max settings but I'll also be using this computer for school work and such. My current computer gets like 20 fps on LoL so I'm looking for a BIG upgrade. Would it be cheaper to buy a power supply and a graphics card and just replace it with the parts in my current computer? Or if I do buy brand new parts I'm looking for quad core processor and an 8GB ram at least. The graphics card doesn't have to be super HIGH end because I just want to use it for LoL. Thanks. Most thorough answer gets 5 stars.
My budget is $700 but I'm looking to save as much money as possible. Already have a gaming keyboard and decent screen.

A. You don't need quad core for gaming, almost all games will only use one or two cores. And you won't be able to build around a quad core with $700.
For gaming forget about AMD, THEY SUCK!!! And what they sell for a quad core is in fact a dual core with 4 processing threads, AMD is full of it...
INTEL is the king in gaming.

You can build a decent budget gaming PC for under $750, here it is:

Yahoo answers will only allow up to 10 links, so I have to leave out the not so important components. Just copy paste in the search field on Newegg to find them, I will give the full name but no link for those.

BEST BUDGET GAMING DESKTOP PC BUILD FOR THE MONEY (under $750.00USD for the tower only)
Monitor, keyboard and mouse can add from $175 to over $500, depending on size and model you want.

I want a good gaming computer for around 500-600 dollars?

Q. I would like a gaming computer that could run minecraft, Arma 2, and Guild Wars 2 with high graphics. Can anyone help me with specs that include a monitor recommendation?

A. this is a 540$hp, currently out of stock but you can find it in other stores, can cerntanly play low-mid end games such as minecraft armour 2 and others , thats the whole reason i bougth it,

check out game debate, there you can search up games requirments and you will see the desktop below beats them or is right below them but not by much and you can always upgrade the graphics card and maybe do crossfire and play games like skyrim gta5 saints row 3, not that you cant already with the below desktop just that you will probably have to sacrifice some graphics in order to play with decent game frames but i assume not by much

http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pavilion-P7-1235-Desktop-PC-with-AMD-Quad-Core-A8-5500-Accelerated-Processor-8GB-Memory-1TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-7-Home-Premium-Monitor-Not-In/20977051 ,
AMD Radeon HD 7560D Discrete Graphics With up to 4059MB total available graphics memory it has way better graphics unit then a GeForce 310 by far and i mean it beats the crap out of the 310.

and it has AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated processor 3.20GHz, 4MB L2 Cache which also beats the crap out of most i5 processors but some i5 processors are stil la bit better, depends on which,

even though it has no screens you can fijnd a pretty good one for $88 which would put you around for $630 in total ,
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dell-Exact-model-may-vary/21009304 , this is a very high deph screen and pretty decent size for $88, that is cheap compared to the others i researched , the 1280 x 1024 resolution is pretty mighty plus the dvi-d fits the desktop
heres some general info

AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated processor
3.20GHz, 4MB L2 Cache

8GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 32GB)
Gives you the power to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work

1TB SATA hard drive
Store 666,000 photos, 285,000 songs or 526 hours of HD video and more

SuperMulti DVD Burner
Watch movies, and read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats

10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN
Connect to a broadband modem with wired Ethernet or wirelessly connect to a Wi-Fi signal or hotspot with the 802.11b/g/n connection built into your PC

AMD Radeon HD 7560D Discrete Graphics
With up to 4059MB total available graphics memory

now if you dont beielve this one is better then the one mentioned by the other guy look the parts up here http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ for the video cards, the one in this hp are in the high end and the geforce 310 are in medium- range, http://www.cpubenchmark.net/ , for hte cpu, there are a lot of i5 processors but only one a8-5500 , quick way to search them is clicking ctrl+ f then just type in the main namel ike a8-5500 and bam.

Best parts for a gaming computer around 600 dollars?
Q. My dad can put computers together, but i would like to know what parts i should get for a gaming computer, for around 600 dollars. I am looking for the top fps i can get, i know this obviously is not a lot of money for a gaming computer, but i wanted to see if anyone could give me any suggestions

A. I just whipped this together, might take some tweaking. Have your dad look it over:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Processor (Quad x 3.20 GHz) - $120
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5752143&CatId=4432

Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H Motherboard (Supports DirectX 10.1) - $70
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7109093&CatId=5539

2 x 2GB RAM 1333MHz (4GB all together) - $35
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1239959&CatId=4534

Radeon HD 5830 - $150
http://www.thrift-king.com/hardware/video-capture-editing/powercolor-pcs-hd5830-1gb-gddr5-pci-ex-video-card.html

600w Power Supply - $35
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6448054&CatId=1483

1TB HDD (Western Digital, unfortunately) - $65
http://www.thrift-king.com/hardware/western-digital-hdd-1tb-wd10ears-caviar-green-sata3-0-desktop-storage-64mb-cache-bare.html

Subtotal: $475 Not including tax (TigerDirect may include tax, I'm not totally sure)

----

To do with the remainder:

1 - Try to find a motherboard (which still supports an AM3 slot for the processor) that supports DirectX 11.

2 - Consider upping the 5830 GCard to a 5870 if you have the money. It's about $80 more but it's a lot more powerful. Consult this list:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

3 - Lastly, if you don't have a case already, throw in a cheap case.

4 - If you don't have a monitor, scrap the last 3 "To do's" and buy the best one you can afford.

----

That's my two cents. I tried to match the best items I could find for the budget given to work as well with each other as possible. That's a pretty decent gaming PC - especially for the price. It will play any game out there today without a problem.

Of course I'm just giving you the hardware. You wouldn't have to buy them from the links I've given you.

The only downside is there isn't much room for expanshion. When it is time to upgrade the PC a few years down the road, you'll have to throw out the motherboard and the power supply. I will suggest getting a motherboard with two PCI 2.0 slots, buying another GCard (the same as you decided to go with initially) and a 800W or over power supply. Then crossfire the cards, and your machine will have almost twice the gaming power.

Hope this helped. The little bits and bobs (like internet cards) are really cheap now days (~$10) so don't worry about them yet.

How do I improve the graphics in my computer games without the games slowing down?
Q. I've recently been delving into a lot of computer games. The only problem is i have turn down the quality of the visuals quite a bit in order for the games to run smoothly. I was wondering if there was a way to improve my computer's visual capabilities.

A. It really depends on a few different things.

First off, there are two different types of video hardware - onboard (or integrated) video, or dedicated video (video card). Onboard video is limited - it's not really made for heavy gaming. Onboard video uses system memory, which is generally slower than memory chips on a dedicated card, and is usually limited by the system BIOS in how much memory can be made available. Dedicated video (i.e. a video card) generally has much more available memory, and a faster video CPU.

With either setup, one of the best improvements (and free) is to make sure you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer. Newer drivers can often make a huge difference. Sometimes, with Windows, the drivers in use may not actually be manufacturer drivers, but stock Windows drivers, which are horrible for any kind of gaming. If the PC uses integrated video, increasing the RAM allocated to the video system in the BIOS setup may help, at the cost of available memory to the PC.

The best part though - video cards are cheap performance upgrades. Even a cheap video card will be better (by far) than most integrated video chips. If there is already a dedicated card, upgrades are cheap and easy.

It depends on the age of the PC, but there are basically 3 different types of video card - PCI, AGP, or PCI Express. If the PC is within 7 years old (give or take), it's likely an AGP or PCI Express setup. Either way, the best (easiest) place to find a card is probably Newegg.com

Hope that helps,
Jason

What would be a good laptop to play games like WOW and Diablo 3 around 600$?
Q. The more suggestions the better, I just need a better idea of what models I should look into for gaming. Anywhere from 400-700 dollars. I don't need an outstanding intense gaming computer. Just a computer that won't lag on games like diablo 3

-thanks
Garrett

A. The best choice with your budget would be the Acer Aspire V3-571G-6622 . It has a good graphics card as well as one of the best processors for gaming .
For a gaming laptop, you want to ensure that you have a good processor, dedicated graphics card as well as sufficient RAM.
The Acer Aspire V3-571G-6622 ha the Intel Core i5-3230M Processor (great for gaming)
plus the NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M 2GB discrete/dedicated graphics card which is a good graphics card that will work amazingly with the i5 processor.
This machine also has 4 GB RAM which is good and can be upgraded to 8GB, plus a 500 GB hard drive. It also has a good battery life which is very important.
This laptop is sold for $629.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7JE6G2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00B7JE6G2&linkCode=as2&tag=cheonlsto-20

This machine will play Games like WOW and Diablo 3 on high to ultra settings
