Where can i get a no interest down payment on Gaming computer?

Q. I have a pavilion, i don't want 2 go any farther its "sucks" horribly. i mean, its great and all but the video card is more worse then getting piss dribble on your pants. after of years of wanting to play CSS counter-strike source. im looking for low-down payments no-interest gaming computers.
price range "600-700"
thanks

A. Not sure. Chances are, places like Circuit City or Best Buy have deals like that, but it's hard to find if they're not doing a promotion.

What about a layaway deal? Lotus accepts layaway if you want to do it that way. You can pay it slowly until you've fulfilled the balance. They won't send it to you until it's paid in full, but it's a good way to keep yourself from being tempted to use the saved-up money. You can ask them about it here: http://www.lotuspc.net/contact.html

Best gaming computer for its price and what is needed and not needed in a gaming computer?
Q. Okay i am thinking of buying a nice gaming computer but want to spend less then 700 dollars for the computer (excluding monitor) . I know to many cores are not needed and i7 is not need for gaming because hyper threading is useless in gaming and the 8 cores are also pointless. I want to know if its better to build my own or wait till black Friday and buy one? If build my own please recommend the best parts you think will be good for this price range and is easily upgrade-able (ram, more monitors on it, more then one graphics card slot ext) and where to find the parts. specific would be helpful here. Thank you for your time.

A. Hello! Last month I had also assemble my own computer and even I also wanted to spend less money on the components. To find a cheap online electronic stores I searched for various online websites and after a huge search I found an online electronic store from where I bought these components at lower prices as compare to other stores. This store is fully reliable as well as safe.

What would cause a computer game to crash to a black screen after five minutes?

Q. So you've got this computer game and you've been playing it for a while and you've never had any problems with it crashing before, it's always ran fine. Your computer meets all the system specs. Your fans are working fine so it's not overheating. Your drivers are up to date.

So keeping that in mind, what would cause a computer game to suddenly start crashing to a black screen after only five minutes of playing it when it's run fine before?

A. Taking all of what you said into consideration, I would start looking into any updates that were recently performed on the computer (i.e., updates for the operating system, drivers, etc...) to see if perhaps an update or a driver update could be causing the issue.

How Can I Improve Game Experience on my Laptop?
Q. Okay, I have an Asus Laptop and I want to get a couple of computer games on here.

Specs:
Runs on Windows 7
AMD E-350 Processor 1.60GHz
RAM: 4.00 (3.60 usable)
64-bit Operating System.

Keep in mind I am 15-year-old JUST getting into gaming, keep it simple please.
I have GameBooster.
I have Slender: The Eight Pages, but it's a little slow. Not horribly so, but it will randomly lag.

Games I would like to play:
Slender: The Arrival
SCP Containment Breach
And so on.
Is there any way I can play them fairly smoothly? Is there any way I could hook my computer up to my Xbox 360 to play games? I just want the game to move relatively quickly, I don't care so much about graphics.

Any solutions OTHER than buying a new computer are welcomed. I DO have an old desktop, but it is very, very old, I think it's at least 2005-2008ish. Is there anything I can do to make Ye Olde Dionsaur Computer work??

Much love,
Kat

A. It's a laptop... other that tweaking game settings individually, you're stuck with its game performance. All laptops have always been mediocre for gaming (compared self-built desktop PCs), although that's slowly changing, unfortunately.

The only things you might do (which won't improve gaming) is add more RAM (impossible on most utrabooks), replace hard drive with a SSD (sometimes it's labor intensive), and clean-up junk that runs at startup like IM's.

The free Slender uses the Unity 3D engine which wasn't designed for performance. Old PC: if it has 4GB and a Core2 Duo, Core2 Quad, it's usable, otherwise don't waste your money, especially old overpriced DDR2 RAM.

How do I play PS2 on my computer monitor?

Q. So, I have a 19" widescreen computer monitor LCD and would like to play my PS2 on it. How would I go about doing so?

Any products that you might suggest? Thanks

A. I did this last year when I couldn't get hold of a TV for a while... Personally, I used http://xploder.net/ps2/products/161/Xploder-VGA-Adaptor-for-PS2-.htm - though, due to some issues with how the PS2 works, you aren't able to play all games. Also, if you go with that one, you'll need to buy http://www.xploder.net/products/148/Xploder-HDTV-Player.htm - which is the software to go with it. You'll need that to allow the PS2 to run at the resolutions that your monitor will support, as most monitors run on "HD" resolutions.

How do i connect my ps2 into my computers monitor? do i need to buy anything?
Q. How do i connect my ps2 into my computers monitor?
do i need to buy anything?

A. If you want to connect your PS2 directly to your monitor, I recommend the Component to VGA adapter sold at http://www.geekquipment.com/video-game-cables.html

It allows you to use your monitor just like a tv, as long as you have a VGA input on your monitor. I've used it with my Gamecube/PS2 and it's always worked pretty well for me.

How can I play my wii on the computer monitor?
Q. I want to record gameplay on my computer monitor, which is a Sansui. Does anyone have any instructions on what to do so that i can record what is played on screen. any programs, any software? any step-by-step

A. First find your nearest Best Buy. Ask for a tv card/tunner for your computer or for a device that would let you play games on you laptop. Hook up the cables and turn the wii on. Breath and take deep breaths because the Wii is super slow hooked up to a monater. Buy a new computer after you broke the screen from playing wii sports xD.

Is a 500GB harddrive good enough for a gaming computer?

Q. So im building a gaming computer and want to save as much money as I can. I just wanted to know if 500GB was enough storage for basic gaming (steam games, maybe some minecraft, and a little bit of internet surfing). Also I plan on putting Windows 7 home premium 32-bit and some other anti-virus stuff. Just wanted to know if its enough/ not enough, or if I could save some cash and buy a smaller one.

A. ive got 2tb and its almost full. games take up alot of room (not to mention my anime collection...)

Can i get a brand new gaming computer anywhere and pay a certain amount of money a month?
Q. so basically i dont have enough money for a gaming computer but i would like on soonish, so i was wondering if i could buy one and pay it off a certain amount of money a month.

A. You could always try cloud gaming. As long as you have a decent internet connection speed, you could play extremely demanding games on a weak computer. Basically you are playing on another computer which is streaming to your computer. Fun stuff. Depending on the membership blah blah blah it could be a monthly subscription. A famous example would be onlive.

If you really wanted an actual computer, you could always buy a retail computer and choose to pay off a certain percentage of the price monthly. Most stores and what-not offer this payment method. However, the total cost is usually higher than if you just pay once, iz bizznuss stuff.

Now if you want to RENT computers, it really depends on where you live. If you happen to live in South Korea, you could always go do "PC Bangs" and basically rent a gaming PC on the spot. However, computer renting where you can just take a computer away is rare, since how do they make sure you don't just take it and leave and never return it?

What happens when you play games like Gta 4 on low graphic card?

Q. I have 3gb ram and core 2 duo processor, i played gta 4 and it was really slow, since gta 4 has many bugs i thought it could be because of that and since mafia 2 has been released i asked my friends and they said it wont work on my computer because i dont have the required graphics card, i mean why doesnt it play and does graphics card affect performance and how?

A. Yes a graphics card will greatly effect preformance of games like GTA 4 because you need a graphics card to output the correct number of pixels to display the image and if you dont have a high enough card it will blur, tear, or lag (slow down) the image and in some cases not allow it to be shown and crash.

How can i make GTA 4 run really smooth.?
Q. My computer is running GTA 4 at custom low graphics, and it chops up sometimes. Game Spot said that our computer could run it on low graphics on low it chops up when u r changing your island and at random intervals.

A. Even in my xbox 360, gta doesn't run 100% smoothely. The specifications of this game say that your computer should have:

Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz

Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space

Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900

Recommended System Requirements:

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz

Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista)

18 GB Free Hard Drive Space

Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870

You should always get alot better than the recommended system specifications for the game to run smoothly if your pc at least meets the minimum requirements then you should be able to play the game on lowest graphic ability but even at that it may not run smoothly

What is the best gaming computer in 2011?

Q. I have about around $10k and am looking to purchase the absolute fastest gaming computer on the market. I have compared every gaming computers specifications from pretty much every maker, and can't find anything to compete with the Psycho Killer Extreme from www.GamingPC.net . Does anyone know any other top of line super computer makers that compare with this one?

A. well to my knowledge the ultimate killer gaming pc includes these specs:
EVGA SR-2 Motherboard
2x Xeon processors
4x GTX 580's
48gb (4gb ram in all 12 slots)

What laptop/netbook would you suggest i buy? What should i look for when i choose a laptop?
Q. I'm a student, i'd use it mainly to write, to brows the web, and listen to music. Occasionally i'd watch a movie online, play a computer game..

I know i want it to be at least 14inch screen, and i'm looking for something cheap, inexpensive. I have considered buying a used laptop, but my friend tells me that's not a wise idea.

Thanks all.
oh, and i'd also use it for video conversations.

A. Since you probably will be sharing programs and files with other students and you don't want to have compatibility problems, I would recommend you to buy a PC laptop instead of an Apple.

A good way to decide which laptop you should buy is by looking at the best selling laptops list, because that tells you what most people are deciding to buy right now.

The most sold PC laptop with the characteristics that you require, and the one that I will recommend to you, is the Toshiba Satellite L755-S5271. It has a 15.6-Inch LED, and 4GB of RAM, which is something necessary if you don't want to have speed problems while opening various programs or web pages at the same time. You can buy it new for $499.99, but if you want something cheaper with these same characteristics, you can buy the HP ProBook 4530s XU015UT for $449.99.

Take a look here to see a list of the best selling laptops in Amazon.com:

Good luck!

How much should it cost to build a basic computer?

Q. Now I don't do any gaming, video editing, or anything that would require a lot of power. Mainly I would be just converting video files to DVD and burning them, surfing the web, and downloading music. Of course I can just buy a pre-built computer that can do all of this without a problem, but I want to have some kind of computer building experience just for fun. How much do you think I should spend on building a simple rig?

A. I chose some good PC Hardware from Newegg.com for you

ASUS M2N68-AM AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 7050PV Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
$55.99

Hanns·G HB-175APB Black 17" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor
$129.99 -$40.00 Instant save = $89.99

XION II XON-103 Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply
$69.99

ASUS (Dual Panels) IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E818A3 - $19.99

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2.0GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
$35.99

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop
$34.99
-----------------------------------------
Total = $306.94 w. flatscreen

Total = $216.95 w/o flatscreen

These are much better quality hardwares than you can get from any low price prebuilt system like Emachines and whatnot.

You can basically just upgrade the processor to something more powerful should your needs grow. Anything else is solid

is this a good computer for game capturing and video editing?
Q. 1.) Is this a good pc for game capturing and video editing

2.) this pc has no operating system so how will i install one?

A. First off, I cannot tell if "this" computer is good or not for game recording and video editing since you didn't tell me what PC you have. You should be looking for a gaming computer obviously with a sufficient CPU, GPU, and plenty of RAM.

If the PC you have does not have an operating system, you need to go buy one. Or pirate it... whatever floats your boat.

What graphics card would fit me best within my budget?

Q. I'm generally looking for a decent computer gaming graphics card for under $100. I have been wanting to play games like Smite, Civilization 5, and Total War: Shogun II for a while, but my computer's current graphics card can't handle it. As the question implies, I'm wondering what is the cheapest graphics card I can get that is at least decent and will play all of the games that I mentioned earlier and possibly more games of the same graphics caliber. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.

A. Nvidia gtx 550ti cyclone oc edition or gtx 560 , or amd's 6650 , depends on ur budget . Thanx...

How would i upgrade my ram and graphics card on my Gateway-E155C laptop?
Q. here's a link with all the specs
i know its not the greatest of laptops,
but i like it the only problem is that
im into computer gaming and my graphics
card and ram aren't exactly the best.
My tech friend who's really computer
smart tells me that my laptops
system is in bulk
and would be extremely expensive to upgrade
i personally have little clue
what this means
but if any one could help me
or give me tips to how to upgrade
my card and ram it would
be MUCH appreciated!

A. RAM would not be so hard to upgrade in a laptop as long as it has an available slot. You could google your laptop to see what type of RAM it takes, and then order some online.

Now your graphics card, if you even have one, is built in to the chipset that is in your laptop. Unlike desktops, you simply can't just buy a graphics card as there are no slots built into your chipset on your laptop.

If you are in to computer gaming, perhaps a laptop is not the best option for you. Laptops that are even capable of running current games to the level expected cost $$$.

How do you fix an Astro A40 Computer Headset Buzzing Noise?
Q. I just got a new Astro a40 computer gaming headset. But it makes a constant buzzing or crackling or static noise that is very annoying and stupid for the expense of this headset. This noise is also heard by others when I'm in Skype. I can't find a solution anywhere. Help.
I just noticed, it seems like the more tabs and programs I have up the louder the static sound.

A. This happened to a Turtle Beach headset my brother had. I just installed the latest realtek audio drivers and it fixed the problem.

What would it cost to build a gaming computer?

Q. All I want in a gaming computer is super fast internet, amazing graphics, doesn't lag on games, and I can carry lots of memory. Please guys someone answer. I will give best answer to the best answer.

A. Well a gaming computer depends on your budget , as long as you pay more as you get better performance . Unfortunately you didn't mention your budget so i cant give you a specific build . The lowest gaming PC that can play games on Max / High settings on resolution of 1920 x 1080 is for at least 800$ . The gaming PCs are mostly depend on strong graphics card not the processor so you make sure to buy a High end card (( not less than 250$ )) and for the CPU any core i3 or AMD FX-4300 will do the purpose . About the fast internet you just need to have ADSL contract with a good company and choose the speed you want to have .

I will give you a random rig for 800$ :

CPU : FX-4300 (( 120$ )) / FX-6300 (( 130 $ ))
Motherboard : ASRock 970 extreme 3 (( 120 $ )) / 970 pro 3 (( 75$ ))
Ram : 8GB (( 2 x 4GB )) 1600 Mhz (( 70$ )) i recommend G-skill or Corsair
Vga card :Evga GTX 770 (( 410 $ )) / / Sapphire Vapor X 7950 (( 380$ )) / Evga GTX 760 (( 260$ ))
Power supply : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028
For the high storage you need like 1 or 2 TB depends on your need and 1TB HDD is for 75$ so if you add more then double the price .
Any thing else like DVD player or Led light will be cheap and u can handle that yourself they won't exceed 30 $ .

I strongly recommend that you stick with Sapphire Vapor X 7950 due to its special cooling which will keep your card cool , silent and highly overclock-able . Many will say that you go for AMD FX-6300 as it has 6 cores and in the same price . In fact FX-4300 cores are stronger and most games use 4 cores not 6 so FX-4300 will be better , check this site for further knowledge http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/293/AMD_FX-Series_FX-4300_vs_AMD_FX-Series_FX-6100.html

Also if you don't like AMD for a processor then your only chance is to go for Core i3 which will give nearly the same performance of FX-4300 and with the same price , Unless you have a higher budget that afford a Core i5 (( 180$ and above )) , but in this case i would recommend to invest more in graphics card so you get something like GTX 780 (( 660 $ )) or HD 7970 (( 500 $ )) . If you need any help send me an email . Hope i helped

What is the best gaming computer for me?
Q. I need a great gamign computer.

One that doens't get lots of viruses.
One that will be able to play games for the next five years.
A great graphic card.
Lots of ram (min 1)
A good processor.

And finally
One that cost less than 500 DOLLARS!

I know its hard to find one like this. But i am only 13, and i can't build one for myself, and so i need one to buy pre made. Thanks for helpign me out.

A. Look at best buy for a computer made by the company ASUS, they are the cheapest gaming laptops i know. I highly doubt that you will find a gaming laptop for under 500, i think the cheapest laptop to build would be around 800, im on a dell xps m1530 intel duo core cpu t9500 @ 2.5GHz, 4GB ram and a 512 nvidia video card for about 4 times that, so its gonna be tough.

Suggestions for A Solid Gaming Computer?

Q. As the title suggests I am looking for a computer mainly just the "tower" that can play pretty much whatever I throw at it relatively well. I am not talking like Crysis 2 on Max setting and what not but something that I know can play the majority of games and ones in the future well.By future I also mean to the sense that the system would be fairly easy for a novice with a screwdriver to learn and be able to upgrade graphics etc.

I also plan on taking the system off to college and eventually a apartment. So I need something lightweight and compact but also durable. I plan on using the system for awhile and it is going to be an investment as well. Which is why I do not plan on purchasing a gaming laptop. Most have gotten better with durability but they are expensive and still very fragile so I would rather stick with the time proven Tower model :D

I was originally looking at the Alienware X51 when it was on sale. The way I customized it came out to about $600+ or so of course but I missed the boat on that D:. If there is something similar on the market. I know a lot of people feel that alienware aren't great gaming systems anymore. Personally I am not very informed to the different systems, customizing etc.

But it won't be solely for the purpose of gaming. So I would have MS Word, PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator etc for working purposes etc. A gaming computer wouldn't have any problems with these programs but it's just for reference in case anyone has any suggestions on computer that may not be Gaming specialized but could still play them relatively well.

Price wise I would rather not go into thousands of dollars. I am a 17 year old making $7.50 a hour mind you :P (So a little more than $100 a week give or take a few hours extra pay).

I am also open to the idea of building my own PC. I heard it is cheaper to a degree. So if anyone has suggestions on parts, prices and building guides and suggestions I am open as well.
Just remember I am a novice after all :D

Thanks Everyone!

A. Hi, I think building your own desktop computer is definitely the way to go. If you are thinking about portability check out the Lanboy cases from Antec which have grips on the top and are sweet modular cases that will also be durable. You can customize the computer components to exactly the type of performance you are looking for and can upgrade if necessary. Like you said it is a good idea to get a machine that is slightly better than the standard requirements right now so that you don't have to upgrade soon. With a $1000 budget you can get a great machine, maybe using an Intel i5 or AMD FX-6200 processor and similar level components. Plus building your own machine helps you understand computers better and what is important. Most cases do not even require a screwdriver except maybe for the motherboard standoffs!

You can check out the following "bronze" or "silver" computer builds we put together for reference which would be great for what you are looking for:

is a macbook really worth it?
Q. im planning to get a macbook air 2012 13 inch low spec model. i have exaclt 1200 dollars so i plan to get it from amazon, however i can get a better macbook pro level windows machine for 200 dollars less. all im going to do is we browse(facebook, email, youtube, watch streams) and light gaming(league of legends, starcraft 2(boot camp on macbook air) so now im wondering if a macbook air is really worth it. i dont really care about thiness and the samsung laptop im looking at is very temping for 1000 dollars(quad core i7 hd6750m 8gig ram) ia lready have a high end gaming desktop which i built so i dont need that much horse power, but i just want other people's inputs.

A. I'd go with the macbook hands down personally, but since you have some background in maintaining computers I'd say the PC. I have had many friends who have both and almost all macbooks have had at least one problem within a year and they had to claim on the warrantee. If you decide to buy the mac, the warrantee is work getting, the laptops break a lot. No matter which you choose I'd suggest using an external mouse and keyboard, the keys wear out on both. I've had two laptops and both had at least one key wear out over two years.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

Mac: little to no virus problems, simplicity, powerful, low maintenance, high beginning cost, high rate of breakage (for laptops, desktops are better for Macs), generally do not require anti-virus software
PC: programmer friendly, buildable and customizable, low cost of building parts, high availability of parts, cheaper start cost

Cons:

Mac: not always programming friendly, if you want it as a programming machine... it is not going to be easy to work with but it can be done. Simplicity comes at the cost of lack of customization.
PC: high maintenance, high chance to viruses, can be costly to maintain, anti-virus protection needed

What % do you think use the computer mostly for gaming?

Q. I see a lot of question here in Yahoo Answers about gaming computers and about the best graphic cards for gaming.
That's why I'm asking.

A. hi no one, i would say that it is 80%is into gaming where as the twenty percent is just a media junkie that is mostly into movies and music. ans the questions ask is to improve their games and the amazing thing is that there from all over the world and across the globe. so it is very enteresting the way it goes but about five percent is into computer repair and i am one of the five percent i find it very enteresting understanding computers rather than to use one so dig this i know more about gaming than an actually gamer does. so if they want to know about gaming i can tell them what makes and models to use than if i was playing the game. but it makes me remember i was at work and a guy walked up to a guy i work with and he said i got one for you so he rattled off a bunch of numbers that took him five minutes to ask and he said do you know the answer the this friend of mine replied that's easy the anwser is. good luck i hope i was helpful to you

What computer can i use to run fallout new vegas?

Q. Where can i buy a computer under $2000 to run games like fallout new vegas, oblivion, mass effect.
Can I get a link please?

A. You can build a desktop for around $500 that will play all those games on High settings.
Here's some advice but you could figure it out yourself:

What is the best way to build a gaming computer for under $2000?
Q. i want to build my own powerful gaming computer from scratch but I am on a $2000 budget. What are the best components to buy?

A. I built my computer for $2000 last november (now it can be purchased for approx $1600)

Most of my parts I got from newegg.com, and I took about 3 weeks monitoring prices. And about another 2 weeks before that figuring out exactly what to components I wanted.

I could of saved some money if I bought some components from places like craig's list or ebay, but you run the risk of the item not working with no return/exchange policy.

I purchased OEM and returned items.

Build to allow for expandibility. Such as a motherboard with 4 memory slots, and dual video PCI express 16x, and plenty of SATA slots (6), and hardware RAID.

Initially start with 2GB (2x1GB) of ram as fast as the board will support.

2 drives in raid 0 (raptors are nice). For data security, you can get at least 1 large (300+GB) drive for backups, 2 drives would be better (raid 1).

1 PCI-E x16 video card to start, you can add another later if you want better performance (exact same card), and prices will drop in the future. Some motherboards allow for 3 video cards.

You will need a full tower, and large power supply (700W+). I chose thermaltake for both.

AMD costs less than Intel, read reviews/benchmarks and make a choice.

Find a widescreen monitor with low refresh rates, and read reviews.

OEM CPUs dont come with a fan, zalman makes cpu coolers.
Get additional fans for the case, unless you opt for liquid cooling.

What pieces should i get for building a gaming computer, and where can i get these pieces?

Q. I am interested in building a computer for playing games to replace my x box. I am not a hardcore gamer, so i don't need top tier parts, just parts strong enough to run the games i like to play efficiently. The kinds of games i plan on playing on this computer would be steam games (l4d2, TF2) League of legends, Guild wars 2, skyrim, call of duty, and assassins creed. Unfortunately, my current laptop is not strong enough to run games like call of duty without lagging baddly. Can anyone help with the parts i should get and where i should get them? I would like for it to have an hdmi output so i can plug it into my tv, and possibly 4 usb port? Thank you in advance.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7362951&CatId=333
would this be a good kit to start off with or is there a kit that is cheaper that still fits the things i need. also, if i were to get this kit, what pieces will i still need? (this is the first time im building my own computer)

A. Umm yess.. check tigerdirect.com for DIY ( do-it-yourself) kits. and buy any card above Radeon 6670 or GeForce 5xxTi and above for playing those games you want. Make sure you have 8Gb or more and DO NOT buy any kits with Althonx3 or X4 640/530 CPU.... They suck and will bottle neck your computer terribly. Also you will need to buy the necessary parts that are missing( usually case, Graphic cards, Hard Drive, Operating System, DVD/CD/Optical Drives.) and a aftermarket CPU fan/cooler.

What parts should I get for a good gaming computer?
Q. I really love playing videogames on the computer. Especially, StarCraft 2 and League of Legends. The thing is, I have absolutely zero clue about what parts I should get from what company or anything of that sort. A list for products and parts that you prefer for those types of games would be appreciated. Thanks!

A. a good video card is key for a good rig, as is a good processor and plenty of RAM.
ATI and NVIDIA make the best graphics cards, and have something that can fit most budgets (have to make sure you get a compatible motherboard though).
AMD and Intel make good processors, though I am personally partial to intel. i7 quad and hex cores are great for gaming, and there are plenty of AMDs that are great as well. You'll also want plenty of RAM. I'd say a minimum of 4-6gb of at least 1600MhZ RAM, and preferable at least 8-10gb.
other than that, case, cooling, motherboard, fast hard drive (to quickly access game data) and optical drives and accessory drives are all you need. sites like ibuypower.com will allow you to configure a custom gaming computer which you can then order.

How would I combine tv and computer speakers onto headphones?

Q. I'd like to be able to play computer games and watch tv (at the same time) even when my fiancee goes to bed early without bothering her. How do I combine the two signals so that I can listen to them on headphones?

Keep in mind I need to be able to control their respective volumes and be able to switch back to regular speakers without too much hassle.

I'm sure there are a bunch of audiophiles out there who can handle this sort of thing no problem.

A. What you need is called a "mixer". It can take several inputs, mix them together an create one output. It has individual volume controls for each input. Here is an example of one that would probably work for you....

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000M6QAUG/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000V0EKXC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=16KGYREZ4M2Z8J8XP0BQ

What is the best gaming computer to get?

Q. I have looked all over on the internet it seems, to find the perfect gaming computer for a decent price :p It needs to be able to run games Amnesia: The Dark Descent, The Penumbra Series, Slender, and Paranormal (these are all the games at the top my list) without lagging. Under 900$ if that is possible. I don't want to make it because it seems like to much of a hassle. :3

Can someone give me some suggestions on building a computer on a $600 budget from Newegg?

Q. Basic enough, I want to buy a good gaming computer for about $600. My main hopes are to play Dawn of War II and Starcraft II very well, and I'll be fine because it will most likely be able to play a ton of other games well too. And if it wasn't clear enough yes, I do plan on building it. Thanks!

A. The $500 gaming computer. Windows costs another $100 for the OEM version. If you already have a version of Windows, you can get the $600 version.

http://www.hardware-revolution.com/500-gaming-computer-2/

everything got really big on my computer screen! How do I make it go back to normal?
Q. I installed a kids' computer game for my son and then when he was done I took over to get online and the desktop icons, screensaver/background and everything online is HUGE. Like 100% larger. I don't know how to make it go back to normal size. The magnification in the lower right corner says "100%". So I don't know why it happened or how to fix it.

A. I think the guy above me is just being stupid.
You obviously don't know very much about computers,(no offense) so I doubt you even have a mac.

This is for Microsoft Windows:

Try going to the desktop, and right click in an empty space(like where there are no icons or anything), then go to Properties.

In there go to Settings, and change the screen resolution.

It probably says something like 800 x 600, and you want at least 1024 x 768 If you can go smaller, you'd probably want to(when I say smaller, the numbers will actually go up, but everything will look smaller).

What is the reason for my computer game not installing?

Q. Today I bought "The Sims 3". My computer has the requirements for the game, and the game would install on my computer, but for some reason, the code won't work. It asks for a code, and I use the code that the game came with. (I bought the game new. It was wrapped and everything) Everytime I try putting it in, it says that it is an invalid code.

Is this a common problem? Why does it do this? How can I fix it?

A. have you try putting the code in exactly as it is typed (make sure lower case letters are lower case, capital letters are capital). if it still doesn't work you may need to call customer support.

How to find out if my computer has the requirements for a PC game?
Q. Im completly new to computer games and I wanted to a buy age of empires. How do i find how much "ram" and stuff is on the computer?

Thank you

A. On Desktop, right click and then click properties. Go to settings Tab and click Advanced. Click the Adapter Tab.

This thing will tell you how much VGA you have. And each game has a requirement of some VGA memory. If you want to play Age Of Empires then you shouldnt really worry because it even runs on 32 MB VGA.

I have 1 GB VGA and I can play almost Evey game on my PC..

What kind of CPU do i need if i want to upgrade my computer?

Q. I planning on Change my CPU (processor) and i need to know what kind of CPU i need or does it even matter what kind i get. Right now i have a Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.8Ghz 2.8Ghz. By the way my computer is about 11 years old

A. Hi,
Well, I had the same processor as yours a few years ago , till I upgraded to a first Generation i3 , after that, in 2012 I upgraded to a i7-3770 K , so if you want to upgrade get something like the i3 o r the i5 , don't go for the i7 it is way too overpriced if you are just a gamer, Get the i3 or i5 3rd Generation , by the way you can't just think that if it is just a computer anything will fit into anything. You will need a new Motherboard , a new Hard Drive , A new Power Supply , the only thing you could probably keep is your Case and other peripherals , the recommended option would be to buy a new PC .

What is the best gaming computer on the market as of right now? 2012?
Q. I want the best of the best to keep me satisfied for years to come. Any links or suggestions help a lot.

A. If you don't know how to build it yourself then you could go the cyberpower's website and customize it with the following parts:

i5-3570K
8GB RAM DDR3 1600MHZ
1 TB HDD
120GB SSD
Asus P8Z77V-LK mobo (SLI capable)
850W PSU (corsair enthusiast, antec, seasonic or OCZ)
GTX 680
Casing is up to you, just besure that it has good airflow (lots of casefans that can be installed)

With these parts, your build would be future proof in gaming for the next 3 years guaranteed =P

Can I move a computer game to an external hard drive then to another computer?

Q. I have the Sims 3 with a bunch of expansion packs added on. I'm changing computers. Will I need to reload everything on my new computer, or can I transfer the game to an external hard drive, then transfer it to the new computer with everything intact?

A. As everything is loaded into different directories when you load the original programme you will need to start again. Your saved "games"should be in Windows/programmes/sims3 folder and should be saved to an external drive And replace the same folder when you reload the programme.

Can I run programs on my computer if they are stored on an external hard drive?
Q. Im considering buying an external hard drive. I was wondering if it is possible to run different programs off of the hard drive while it is plugged in.

If I had all of my music from iTunes stored on the hard drive would iTunes still work??

If I installed a computer game onto it would I be able to play it on my computer?

A. Due to issues about the libarys and registry, it can work but only for that computer you originally installed on and will not work when you use it on another computer.

PS: unless it is connected through e-sata the games may get a lot of lag due to the much lower transfer rates on the USB or firewire.

How do I share an Internet Connection between two sets of devices on different floors?

Q. I have a DSL Modem upstairs. It has four Ethernet ports. My computer is plugged into one of the Ethernet ports with an Ethernet cable. It connects to the Internet through the Modem.

But the problem is, my other computer, my Xbox 360, and my PlayStation 2 are downstairs. How do I get the Internet connection from the DSL Modem upstairs to work with my PC, 360, and PS2 downstairs? Do I need to buy a Wireless Router, put it downstairs, and have it wirelessly connect with the modem upstairs? I cannot run 3 Ethernet cables from downstairs to upstairs, mainly because it isn't very practical, but also because my computer room upstairs and my computer/game room downstairs are on opposite sides of the house. So how do I share the connection?

A. You will need a wireless router connected to the DSl modem. You will then need wireless adapters for the terminals downstairs. i don't know if PS2 and XBox 360 have USB 2.0 ports. To get the desired speed you'll want you'll need USB 2.0. USB 1 will work also but it will be slower. If your house encompasses more than 100 or so yds from the router you may also have connection problems. So if you live in a 25 room mansion you may need an amp to boost the signal (LOL). Seriously though, the next thing you want to do is security enable the wireless devices on your ntwk, otherwise, your neighbor may freeload off your signal and hog your bandwidth. You have to only allow the ip addresses you specify to have access to your wireless ntwk.

Where can I find some chic/modern geeky decorations for a gaming room?
Q. I was thinking about something in the lines of "Space Invaders" and "Asteroids" arcade games.
Pacman as well.

Looking for couches or sofas, those little puffs, wall decorations, anything really.
Preferably in chrome, leather, or anything in those lines. Would appreciate any help!

It's for my computer and console gaming room. Thanks!

A. Some of the best wall decorations are found on eBay in other categories. Get an old computer of some sort that does not work. They have them there, sold as non-working items. They aren't expensive. Take it apart partially and use "computer guts" in a frame as wall decor. It really does work well.

Pacman is dead-easy to make. Take a wooden circle and cut out the mouth. Sand and paint.

How do i get my sister to quit WoW? (don't click if you're not patient and please answer seriously?
Q. Hello,My name is Andrew.(In advance,my English isn't the best,i'm 15 and from Serbia,what can you expect? :P)
I'm from Serbia and i'm 15 years old. When i was 12,i discovered a game called "World of Warcraft" and i started playing it.It wasn't very addictive at start and i didn't play it too often.I reached level 80 when i was about 13 years old and that's where the game got very addictive.I would normally play for hours doing dungeons, playing battlegrounds and stuff like that. But when i was about 13 and a half years old (about 6 months after i turned level 80) i had a decently geared character and played even more.In some of those days,my sister saw me play the game and after seeing my mount (invincible) which is a horse (btw. she loves horses) she took an interest in trying the game out.I let her play almost every day on my account a bit,and she loved the game,so she decided to get herself a account. She made multiple characters with different classes and started leveling and playing the game. When she finally reached level 80,she got addicted to the game, meanwhile,i deleted my account and all my characters because i understood the game was making me lose a lot of my free-time,but she didn't quit.In the early days, when her gear wasn't really that strong, she wasn't so "aggressive" as she is these days...today,while i was asking her questions about her character, she refused to answer. All i did was just ask "put the mouse on your tremor totem,i want to see something" and she just said no and i said "it's just one second, just move your mouse!" and then she took her headphones, threw them at me,took her chair, threw that too lol,and i couldn't just stand there and get "beaten" by her just for asking something,so i slapped her..because..well she deserved it..This wasn't really the first time she's done something like this, one time i told her that she should spend less time with her game and more time outside like before i showed her the game, and she took my pencils and things i had on my table and threw them at me O.o .I don't know if this has anything to do with our parents wanting to get a divorce, summer 2012,because there was a lot of yelling and violence those days..but it's all okay now :/ And i know some of my sentences don't make sense in English, but neither do they make sense in Serbian,i was always a shy kid :p
But after quitting WoW i made a lot of new friends and i even started working out, studying more and my life got much better. But things don't look so bright for my sister...so please guys, tell me,how do i make her quit? i've tried telling her how my life has gotten better after quitting, but she just didn't listen...and again, sorry for my bad English :)

A. no your english is more than fine, look i was addicted with minecraft at one point. just go cold turkey with her. limit her internet and dont let her use the computer. put a password on it so she cant get on. she might just go to the library or something to play(which is what i did, pretty patethic huh?). so change her accounts password. she might scream and fight like a child but shell get a new hobby soon. gl :)

Price and setup building a gaming computer?

Q. I've decided to build a computer for gaming though i don't want to customize it on some website,
there are many other posts about this kind of thing i realize
i just want one MORE RECENT (2012 february-march)
So the price cap is about 1000-1200 dollars,
i COULD go over that but it would take me a bit more time to get the money so i would have to be prepared for the computer to last longer to account for that time :)
So I'm looking for a comp that can run all the new games etc. etc. decent amount of ram, at least 6 gb
NOT Looking for the monitor, keyboard, mouse just the computer
sorry I'm dragging this on but i don't want to edit this post a million times :P
If it helps, i would be running 2 klipsch-thx speakers and a subwoofer, so i dunno if that has anything to do witht eh sound card...
So really I'm looking for a complete set up, like if someone out there could list all the different parts/specs of parts i should get but whats most important to me is SPECIFIC parts as i am not that great at rummaging to find compatible hardware

Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I already have Windows 7 Ultimate that i can put on another computer just a heads up:)
ALSO
I made an email for this
PLEase if anyone is willing to further help me as I'm sure i will run into problems

Now I put a solid state drive there for your boot drive and any main programs you will be running, any media I would put on a second drive that is a normal HDD like 1TB or more, they are pretty costly and your selection is limited still with things still being cleaned up in Thailand. expect to pay another hundred or so depending on the size, just read reviews and pick one. I'm not sure what you will be doing graphic wise but the first card should be more than sufficient, and if not its an easy upgrade. You could go the Intel route but I prefer AMD and that 8 core processor is nuts. You could also get an after market fan which is another $50 or so. but all in all those all solid top of the line products with all the latest technologies, you will be future proofed for a very long time and you have plenty of room for upgrading if a new processor comes out or something. also you will need a copy of windows unless you already have one which would set you back another $100. also in benchmarks the AMD effects blows away the I5s and anything in the price range.

What is the correct terminology for someone who likes computer games?

Q. Someone who likes to read is a bibliophile, someone who likes listening to music is an audiophile and someone who loves movies is a cinephile.

So what are people who enjoy computer games called? Besides Gamers obviously.

A. nerd , geek

Why do so few women play video and/or computer games?
Q. I've noticed in my two decades of playing video and/or computer games that gamers are predominately male, though there is a strong minority of female gamers, but why so few?

If you are a female gamer, what genres do you enjoy? If not, what do you think the game industry needs to attract more female players?

A. I never liked games that were violent and involved fighting or power struggles. And back when I was first getting into owning a computer, that's all that was available. Whenever I went game shopping, the young salesboys would look at me like I was nuts when I asked for a game that was, say, about solving a mystery. But other women would always come up to me to tell me that I was right.

Nowadays it doesn't matter.

What skills should I have to become a computer game developer?

Q. I have a BS degree in physics, but am thinking of changing my career direction to computer game development. I have basic knowledge about programming (C, java), then nothing else related to software development. What skills should I have to get ready for this kind of jobs? Thanks a lot!

A. Your assignment now is to graduate from programming to software engineering. This means you must learn about object oriented design, which means classes inheritance templates polymorphism and design patterns. Software engineering covers the process and best practices of structured development in a professional environment. It covers requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and agile development processes.

So while you learn this stuff you have two routes, basically you need work experience. You can apply for software development internships outside the game industry, or game testing within the industry. To go straight to game programming from a physics degree, I doubt you'll be that lucky.

In the interview they'll specifically ask questions about software engineering and object oriented programming to weed out the flakes. They will likely ask you:
1. What is the difference between overriding and overloading?
2. What is inheritance and why is it useful?
3. Do you have any experience in unit testing?

I recommend learning to test code as you write it early, this is a VERY IMPRESSIVE and VERY ATTRACTIVE trait in the industry. JUnit is a good way for a java guy to get into it. Another feather you can have in your hat is your certified education, if you can convince your interviewers you have the chops to do nitty gritty work on physics engines and optics, i don't see how that can hurt.

If you're a real self-starter you could try making a game of your own and putting it online for a hell of a resume bullet-point. Worst case, you dont get hired and you end up freelancing and being your own boss.

Another thing that came to me is to Know Your Environment! Are there game companies in commuting distance? What do they do? Who do they need?

Is lending of computer games a violation on the copyright law?
Q. I'm just curious because I'm about to lend a computer game to my friend.

A. you do not mention if you can play the game online or not? If so, then there usually is a code to play online, in which case only one person at a time can play the game online. other than that the person can play the game on their computer at their leisure.....

you also do not mention if the game is on cd or not. if it is cd, then usually you have to install it on the other persons computer, which is ok, just that when the person is done playing the game they should remove it from their computer.

Software licenses usually allow the user to install the game on so many computers, everyone is a little bit different with their license so read that to ensure you are abiding by the license.

How much would it cost to build a decent gaming computer in 2011?

Q. I've been really wanting to build a gaming computer, but I'm not the most tech-savvy person on earth. I know I can probably do it for $1k, but I'd also like to know what components I should buy in the first place to build a pretty good gaming computer.
I already have a pretty good monitor, mouse, speakers, keyboard, etc. All I have to worry about is the tower.

A. I would say around $800 - $1000.
You can get an AMD Phenom Quad Core for around $150. You can get a Hexa core processor, if you want to be really upgrade proof. But that usually costs a lot more than the quad.
Motherboards typically cost $150 - 200. (Be sure to get a mobo that is compatible with the processor)
A decent video card that will run current games will cost you $150 - 200. I recommend the NVIDIA GTX 560.
RAM (depending on how much you want) will typically cost you $60 - 120. 6GB DDR3 is recommended.
Power Supplies will be around $60 - 100. I recommend Corsair Power Supplies, they also have a Gaming Series for gaming computers.
Case would be around $50 - 80.
Windows will cost you $100 or more.
A Hard Drive will be around $100. 7200rpm recommended. You can go for a solid state hard drive just for backups, they are around $120.
So yeah, around $900.
In the end, you will be saving LOTS of money instead of buying an Alienware.

Can you guys give me a computer part list under 800 dollars?
Q. Hello, I am thinking of building my own computer for perhaps, under 800 dollars. I will be using the computer for light gaming. Please include the case, fans, keyboard, and speaker in the part list, and make sure all the parts could be bought in stores like NCIX, CanadaComputers, and Tigerdirect. Thanks!
It would be best if it's your own computer. I want to be 100% sure the parts are compatiable. Sorry for the trouble!

What are some Top-of-the-line Gaming Headsets for PC?

Q. I'm looking for some good gaming headsets for PC (I prefer Turtle Beach) with an attached microphone that are price no more than 100 bucks. I would like surround sound and preferably wireless with a cool looking exterior color on the headset ( looking for green to match my computer box). What would you suggest? Maybe from past experience or ones your using now, or etc. Would like alot of suggestions. Thanks.

A. I'll recommend a Logitech headset, which supports both PC and laptops, with surround sound. Here you can find an actual user comment on the headset:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R33RHDJ3GHVG6O/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003VANOFY&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=armas9-20

This is a wireless headset, with surround sound and almost all of your other required features and it is within your price range.

Turtle Beaches are great headsets but they are most popular for console usage not many PC users prefer them. For PC usage the best headsets are Astro A40 / A50, one and Sennheiser headsets are very popular. Few high end Razer and Steelseries are also quite popular these days. If you still insist on Turtle Beach then I'll suggest you can check out Ear force PX22 (wired) or Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Black Ops II X-RAY Wireless Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset both are within your price range and are good headsets.

Things to keep in mind when building a gaming computer?

Q. Hello, I was wonder what are some key things/hardware to keep in mind when building a gaming computer. My gaming category ranges from MMORPG's to FPS to RTS games. I usually play newer games, meaning a lot better/advanced graphics most of the time.

If you could please list a couple of things(such as hardware) to keep in mind that would be great. You can also state some good/reputable company names when listing the important hardware. Any reputable custom computer (gaming) websites as well?

Thanks in advance.

A. the most important but overlooked thing when buying a gaming pc is cooling for the graphics card and the power supply. make sure you buy cooling fans or watercooling systems, and also a good psu with atleast 750w also it needs atleast 4 pcie power cables for new graphics cards

Whats a website that I can send a computer in and get it upgraded ?
Q. Well, I bought a computer last year and I want to upgrade it because ive gotten into computer gaming.

Whats a website that i can send it in, Buy parts from the same website and have them install all of it, too?

A. Well, why don't you check out some mom and pop computer stores in your city? Barring that, call the GeekSquad from Bestbuy if you just don't want to do it yourself.

How to copy a computer game cd on a laptop?
Q. I want to make a copy of a computer game cd i have but only have a laptop on hand. How can i do so?

A. Built to order computers
Martin K

It really depends on the game, Mainly, It depends on the format of the game.

Now to be clear, to you want to copy a computer game CD to a laptop
(Meaning do you want to transfer the entire game from CD to Hard Drive)

or do you want to just make a copy of the Disc from your laptop.

if you want to just copy the disc, Generally your best option is nero
and you select the Copy Disc option, This will create an exact duplicate of the Disc

Of course this only works, Assuming that your laptop has a Burner.

The other factor to consider is Copyright,... Meaning that for example if it's a Playstation 2 Game, Burning is Easy, Playstation 3, much more difficult.

Soi once again, i need to know what game it is. and i can give you a better answer.

What is the best desktop computer for gaming?

Q. Ive recently been getting into video games and have been wanting a new computer that will work really well even with lots of games on it. I have a laptop, but its already slow enough without adding tons of games to it. I was also looking into an imac but then realized that i cant play Skyrim on it (my biggest desire). Unless Razer makes a desktop that i havent heard of, i would like something under $1000, or no more than $1200. Please help! Thanks!

A. considering PC for gaming is quite dependable of the users choice. for graphics only DX11 graphics card playing leading roles now. Desktop PC is the best choice for playing Games. Try Radeon HD 7970 and Radeon HD 7950. Processor could be core i3 or core i5

What is the best laptop for my budget?
Q. I currently have a gateway desktop computer and I'm thoroughly unimpressed with how crappy it is. Basically I want a good gaming computer, (doesn't have to be amazing but I'd like to be able to run a decent amount of games). My budget is anything under $1000, but I'd prefer to go under 800. I prefer Dell and Toshiba computers but if there are better computers for a reasonable price please name them. Links would be greatly appreciated.

A. My recommendation for the best cost:performance in a notebook for gaming is ASUS. I agree with sinister's selection as to the model ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220566 ) with the GT240M. It's the best GPU you can get in a laptop without taking a gun to your budget.Additionally, Newegg.com is an excellent vendor.

I've owned an Asus for 17-18 months, it's a fantastic value and they are solid as anything you could ask for. I also paid about $1000 and even today I've yet to find anything it cannot run from Crysis to GTAIV or Supreme Commander. And that was a year ago.

Since they're your preferences: Toshiba Laptops are also excellent, most are not suited well to gaming. However, Dell laptops, especially those spec'd to gaming on the XPS line, have a tendency to overheat without an additional cooling solution.

What would I need to build a gaming computer?

Q. I want to build a decent computer for a low price($400-$500). What would I need to be able to run games like arma, minecraft, and bf4. If you can get a setup and write down on a list and possibly where I can get it it would be much appreciated.

A. You can't build a good computer for that price.

You'd need more like 1500-2000 to build a good gaming pc.

What are the best gaming computers for a low price?
Q. I have been playing strategy games such as total war and crusader kings on my toshiba Laptop (running i3) and I'm tired of its crapy performance. I have been looking at some gaming computers such as cyber powers and Ibuypower computers but they are quite pricy. All I would like to know is what types of gaming computers offer good performance for a good price.

My price range would be between $600 and $850

A. If you don't know anything about computer hardware, I recommend looking at 'already built' systems. There are many factors in which components might not be compatible. It's best you leave it toprofessionalss so you get the best performance.

HOWEVER, if you do know a thing or two about pc hardware, building your rig could be well worth it. A bit more costly I'd like to add. It seems that you're quite frustrated with your laptop, so perhaps spending the extra money could be worth it, as you'll never have to stress about a slow system again.

Those PC's at cyberpower look bada** but I'm a little concerned with those digital temp monitors at the front of the case. Things like that aren't useful to most people + they add to the cost.

What parts do I need to build a gaming computer?

Q. I would like to get computer parts for Christmas so I can have a High-End Computer that's will run say Skyrim and Fraps with zero lag. If you can list the part, and what I'm looking for in the part, that will help. Thanks.

A. INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD
1

Check the system requirements of the games you intend to play. You will need to purchase the parts for the games with the highest system requirements.
2

Find a good retailer for purchasing the parts of your gaming computer. Read plenty of reviews not only for the store you wish to purchase your hardware from, but also for the hardware itself.
3

Purchase the CPU separately from the motherboard. If you think you might upgrade the CPU in the future, the motherboard should be able to take a faster CPU than the one you've chosen. Your motherboard should have multiple PCI upgrade slots, as well as a PCI express or AGP slot. Also make sure that it has as many USB ports as you will need for various devices such as an Internet access point, a mouse and a joystick.
4

Follow your motherboard manufacturer's instructions for purchasing RAM rigorously. For example, if the motherboard manufacturer says you need 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs, of 1 Gigabyte each, with a speed of 1333, 1066 or 800 MHz you must purchase RAM which fits these specifications exactly. Purchasing the wrong RAM will result in your computer failing to operate. You will need at least 1 to 2 Gigabytes of memory to play most graphics-intensive games effectively.
5

Purchase the largest and fastest hard drive you can afford. In most cases, you will want a SATA drive. Avoid SCSI drives, which don't offer much additional performance for their high price tag.
6

Purchase a PCI Express video card if your motherboard supports the specification. Otherwise, get an AGP card. You'll want to at least get the graphics card which supports most demanding game. The most common choices are nVidia GeForce and ATI Radeon. Look for GPU speed, graphics memory and which version of Pixel Shader the card supports.
7

Get an audio card which meets your needs. If you play 3D games, you may need a sound card which processes 3D sound. You may also need a special sound card to support other devices, such as MIDI devices, special headphones, special speakers or input devices.
8

Select a case which will house all of your internal devices. Make sure your case and motherboard have the same form factor. Pay special attention to whether or not any of your internal devices have front-facing panels, as you will need to purchase a case which can hold these. You will need a power supply of at least 300 watts to power your unit. You may also need a CPU cooling fan if you have a particularly fast processor.
9

Choose a CD-ROM and/or DVD-ROM drive for your computer. There are many combo drives which will fit the bill. Whatever you do, make sure you get a rewritable drive with plenty of speed. Then you can ensure your games will play properly, and that you will be able to burn any necessary files to disk.
10

Select your monitor. Whether you go with LCD or CRT, you will thank yourself for getting a large flat screen monitor. For more advanced gaming, you can get speaker systems with four or more speakers which will greatly enhance your game play. Also, you will need a mouse and keyboard for your computer. You may also need a joystick or headphones, a DSL or cable modem, a router, or a wireless access point if you're planning to play games on the Internet. You will also need an operating system to run your computer.
11

Assemble your gaming computer, using extreme caution. Start with installing the CPU, heat sink, cooling fan and RAM on the motherboard. Then install the power supply in the case. Install the motherboard and connect it to the power supply. Install any front-facing devices. Install any cards in the upgrade sockets. Next install the hard drive, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives. Connect peripheral devices only after all internal parts have been fully installed. Power on your gaming computer and troubleshoot as necessary.

What computer should a teenage girl get?
Q. What desktop computer would be suitable for a teenage girl? Please give links. It can be Mac or PC.

Thanks!

A. PC is better, here is why... ( Dell Inspiron $499- $849) http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspndt_530?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs for everyday stuff... Dell XPS for very heavy gaming.. http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsdt_420?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs OR http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/desktop-xps-625?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs )

PC=Variety of specs, options, quality, prices, vendors, support
Mac=One vendor, limited options, still more expensive. Look below for more information..

Contrary to belief, Macs are not better quality. Apple also has been changing suppliers to try to "lower the price" and thus lowering quality. Even with the lower prices, Macs still cost more, they spend a higher percent of budget trying to make it look pretty, and marketing.

Today, Macs use the same hardware as PCs. Why spend extra to get the same CPU chips, graphics cards and OS X isn't as secure as you think.. Look below.

WINDOWS ADVANTAGES:

Aprox 90% of the market is Windows. Most PCs include windows already pre-installed.
1) A number of websites still require Internet Explorer to view and IE for Mac Stinks (it is really ies4osx which is the Windows IE version running really buggy on OS X and illegal if you don't have a legitimate copy of Windows, too many problems with it).
2) More supported peripherals (printers and other things you hook into the computer) on Windows.
3) Many more games
4) Like the Dock on OS X (Mac)? google/yahoo rocketdock, objectdoc.

Install at least Free Versions of Avira AntiVir, Avast, Comodo Firewall on the Vista.

LINUX ADVANTAGES:

1) Install Linux, and then get tons of software for free.Update software easily and automatically. (Checking a checkbox in either two ways to install (Add/Remove or Synaptic Package Manager), search for something you want, check a box and click apply)
2) Like the Mac OS X effects? go yahoo/google COMPIZ FUSION. It can do just about any cool effect a Mac can do and more...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4Fbk52Mk1w
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3gkX9HDfEE (there is no flickering when you use it like on the video, not sure why the person has the flicker)
3) Like the Mac OS X Doc? google/yahoo Cairo Dock, avant window navigator.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3rf5q_cairo-dock-mac-os-x-leopard-dock-on_tech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0hzi22g2DE

4) It is faster/MORE SECURE. Surf the internet and even run some windows programs with Wnehq/Crossover..

LINUX OS
If you are worried about viruses, spyware, security, Try Linux (it is free), I have included some information about Linux and links so you are not lost if you decide to try it.

Easily turn your system into a Dual booting computer with Linux, fast, safe and secure, easy to use (contrary to belief). You then get the best of both worlds (Windows with all of its supported products, freely go online without the worry)

Installing Linux in general is very simple and much more secure than OS X(Macintosh) and free.
Also, most Linux distributions have a LiveCD which means you can try without installing...
UBUNTU, KUBUNTU, FREESPIRE, PCLINUXOS, etc.. all have live CDS.
All you have to do is..
A) to download .iso file off the internet from the Linux website
B) burn the .iso file to a CD or DVD (Make sure your burning software can burn an ISO or get InfraRecorder http://infrarecorder.org/ )
C) restart the computer with the CD in the drive
D) As computer is restarting, press on F12 Key a bunch of times to get a boot menu
E) Select the option to boot from CD or DVD.

Click on this link and follow instructions up to the point of "Once the system has started up...", (the rest is how to backup windows) for an easy picture guide for steps A-E above http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/
For easy instructions on setting up Dual Boot http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_windows_xp_and_linux_xp_installed_first.htm

ANOTHER QUICK NOTE: People have been able to run OS X on a PC since the PC and Mac use the same hardware. This is not legal and I would not recommend it for security and legal reasons, the purpose is to show that there is nothing special about the MAC.

A)Price...
A similar equipped PC is much cheaper to purchase than Mac. Lets use Dell (but you can compare with another PC Brand if you like)

**(LAPTOP)
Dell Inspiron Laptop $849 dropped to $799
15" Screen
CPU: (upgrade to) 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
Memory: 3GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive: 320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
Optical Drive: Blu-ray Disc Combo (DVD+/-RW + BD-ROM) - WRITES DVDS,CDS, READS Blue-Ray Disks

Macbook $1349 just dropped to $1224
13" Screen (SMALLER)
CPU: 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (SAME)
Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (SAME)
Memory: (upgrade to) 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (LESS RAM)
Hard Drive (upgrade to) 250GBSerial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm (SMALLER HARD DRIVE)
Optical Drive: (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) - (Writes CDs, DVDs, cannot read Blue-Ray) (WORSE AND 1/2 SPEED)

**(DESKTOP)

PLEASE NOTE: I'm comparing Apple Mac's vs Dells best deal. If you decide that you must have an all-in one. The Dell all-in-one has more ram, wireless keyboard and mouse and equivalent to $400 for free making the Imac still more expensive when you upgrade the Imac to try to match. Personally I don't think the All-in-Ones are a good choice, and consider them overpriced, lack expandability and repairs both more expensive and require the entire computer.

PS: Apple knows that they must make Macintosh look different than PC so all Macs except the Mac Pro will not have a tower option. Apple's low end lacks expandability but it makes the Mac "look different", if Mac had a tower for low-end, more people would realize the similarities between the two.

Dell: (Right Now) Specs Below costs $809
CPU: 2.4 GHZ Dell Inspiron QUAD (4 Processor) CORE
SCREEN: 20inch Screen
MEMORY: 3GB Ram
HARD DRIVE: 500 GB hard Drive
OPTICAL DRIVE: 16x DVD/CD Read/Writer
GRAPHICS: (upgrade to ) ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO 128MB

The Best Deal Mac is not the Mac Mini since it has no monitor, keyboard, mouse, very skimpy on options and setup... IMac is better price than the Mac Mini.

IMac ($1400)
CPU: 2.4 GHZ DUAL (2 Processor) CORE (SLOWER CPU)
SCREEN: 20inch Screen
MEMORY: (upgrade to) 2GB Ram (LESS RAM)
HARD DRIVE: (upgrade to ) 500 GB hard Drive
OPTICAL DRIVE: 8x DVD Reader/Writer (1/2 speed)
GRAPHICS: ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO 128MB

**END OF DESKTOP

B) SECURITY:

Mac OS X was hacked in 2006 under 30 minutes, and hacked within 2 minutes in a contest in 2008. Linux and Vista were not able to be hacked until another day when restrictions were lowered.
All macs are standardized with Cameras, if your system gets hacked, the hacker would more likely be able to turn on your camera.
Please Note: All OS's have vulnerabilities.

C) VIRUSES

The argument that OS X has less viruses is true, but that is against XP, BUT Mac OS X has viruses (which is significantly on the rise), a friend of mine has a virused Mac. As more users use Macs, more viruses will come out for it. Especially when users think "they are safe".
Viruses on Mac are rising significantly.

Google/Yahoo Mac Viruses

D) WINDOWS LICENSE is discounted with PCs

You do not pay the full price, for instance Dell -> you pay $50 or less for Vista Home Premium If you buy a Mac and want Vista, you pay full price.

E) EXPANDABILITY & REPAIR...

Repairs are more expensive than PCs since the IMac, Mac Mini are compact units, and Apple charges a premium for their services. Some repairs can be done by another repair service but the compact design of the computer causes problems.
With an IMac, if the problem is with the monitor, the whole computer would have to be brought in.
IMac and Mac mini lack expansion.

F) PROBLEMS

Sample of problems: Overheating Macbooks, OS X- not responding to keyboard, some units with 16bit screens, etc. Apple statistics are misleading since Mac users with problem machines are more likely to go out and buy a new computer than PC users. Apple is lowering prices which means you can expect lower quality than in the past. Apple had switched the manufacturers producing parts. OS X also has problems slowing down.
