Is it possible to be addicted to computer games and are any support groups available thru the university?

Q. My son is away at college but for several years, before he left, played computer games for countless hours at a time.

He has canceled several classes and it fits a pattern. He plays Computer games all night and can't get up for AM classes..

A. Yes it is possible. (It's also possible to be addicted to yahoo answers <g>) In principle, it is possible to be addicted to anything.

If he himself wants to change, he can approach the student counseling service. This is one of the behaviours that counseling (aka psychotherapy) can help with. There is likely to be an underlying discontent from which computer games is his attempt to escape.

But mom or dad wanting son to be different from who he is...... sorry, luv..... that has been around since Adam and Eve had a problem with a delinquent son called Cain. The more you are able to love him as he is (without pretending to approve his behavior), the better your prospects of his choosing the change that you would like to see.

If you are willing, you can pray passionately for him, too .... more has been accomplished by the power of prayer than is known to have been. (Prayer to be effective needs to be persistent, frequent, deep, heart-felt, genuine, and earnest.)

And I would encourage you not to despair of him, whatever happens. For example, sometimes people learn from experience. If he drops out this year, he may learn from the consequences and go back to college later in life when he is more emotionally ready. Or he may find his way to happiness without a degree.

Q. I am looking for a very good gaming computer for under $500. It can be already built or just components. I would like a desktop.

A. most average desktop pc's usually have a somewhat decent graphics card. alienware computers are really good on gaming pc's, and there should be a few computers for a little bit more or less than your 500 limit.

Can anyone help me build a budget gaming computer?

Q. Hi I am trying to build a gaming computer that does not overly exceed 500~550 and can play games such as Skyrim, GTA IV, and most modern games on high or very high. I realize that gaming computers usually need a considerably larger budget but I am really tight on money nowadays.

Please recommend me a complete build that can meet my needs and my budget. Thank you.

A. You can't even build one for that price. It's gonna cost you 800 to a grand to get a low end gamer up and running.

Can you use a high-def computer monitor to hook up your Xbox360/PS3 with a HDMI cable?

Q. I want to play my games in high-def but don't want to dish out money to get a nice TV. My question is can you buy a LCD computer monitor and hook your Xbox360 and PS3 with a HDMI cable Would this be cheaper than buying a 20 inch 1080i TV. Also can you get a computer monitor with 1080i resolution?

A. If it uses a DVI connection, the monitor must be HDCP compliant.

Pros and cons of using a computer monitor for console gaming?
Q. I'm debating getting a computer monitor (specifically a 24 inch Samsung LED monitor) for my Xbox 360 and PS3 (and to use my computer on) and I am wondering about the pros and cons of gaming on it.

I can only think of pros (high resolution, fast response time, cheaper) but I am sure there are some cons.

Any opinions on this?

A. pros its better for gaming as better respond time, allot cheaper 23" monitor £120 1080p
cons most don't have speakers so need a different sound system
i use a 23" monitor and a pair of speakers and work Great

Can I play a lower WoW account on a computer upgraded to cataclysm?

Q. I want to upgrade my computer to cataclysm now so that when I buy it I do not have to wait for it to install and patch. If I do so, however, can I continue to play using my lower (non-cataclysm) account?

A. Indeed you can. Nothing actually changes between having Cataclysm, and just having Vanilla or an older expansion. Part of the patching process is making sure that your computer has the information to process images, sounds, and content that accompany the new installments of the game. The only real difference is how far your character can progress.

Looking for good Gaming computer setup?
Q. I'm planning on building a gaming computer in the range of $400-$450, i'm only really going to play World of Warcraft, I want WoW to run at 60 fps ultra graphics in 25 man raids for cataclysm. any cheap gaming computer setup anyone?

A. Not possible.
Not for this price, unless you buy really good and cheap used PC built for gaming, but still will not happen.
I have played WOW on $900 machine with Phenom II X4 overclocked to 4.0GHz with 4GB RAM and Nvidia GT 240 1GB GDDR5 video card - it drops to 30-40FPS in 25 man raids on High/Ultra settings and 1920x1080 resolution.
Get some more money and buy real gaming computer.

How do computer games give viruses?

Q. I use to play in computer game websites like cartoonetwork and nick but my computer got a virus and I want to know how do video game websites give you viruses? P.S. does funorb give viruses?
Please give a source.

A. I don't think Cartoon Network or Nick would give you you a virus, because they are giant companies and they are pretty legit. As for funorb, what the heck is that? You should download an antivirus program to prevent from getting viruses(AVG is good and, better yet, it's free!)

What are some reasons for allowing computer games in schools?
Q. I am doing a project and I need some reasons for why computer game websites should be allowed in schools.

A. students are going to find backdoors and play these things anyway, so schools are wasting time and money by blocking these sites, just block ones with viruses and call it a day.

where could i get a good gaming computer online?

Q. I'm looking for a good gaming computer that can run games like Arma 2, Just cause 2, Sleeping dogs, and Saints row the third all at minimum 30 fps with fraps on. I would like to build my own but if not that's fine. My top dollar would be 800 to 900 dollars please get back to me as soon as possible thanks. Ps:I live in the us preferably online.

A. You either build your own with good quality parts after watching some youtube videos, making a paper build at http://pcpartpicker.com/
and then sharing it for comments, or try newegg.com.

A better power supply and slightly better CPU, but weaker motherboard only supporting sata II and again 1333 speed ram

Relly low end motherboard ruining a beautiful CPU and graphics card. Power supply is also a piece of crap.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229381
The specifications of this one are more reasonable quality, but it drops the Graphics to HD 7850.
The HD 7850 is a little lower and Sleeping Dogs for examlple probably misses ultra at 30fps.

CPU levels in gaming

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=660
HD 7870 and GTX 660 are fairly comparable

You can model your own using the specs of above.
Use 1600 MHz ram for Intel core i5 and choose 1866 or 1600 for AMD FX builds.
Power supply consider a single rail (one +12V) 80 plus certified and all CPU, GPU, system fans and drives wattage plus 30% buffer, then divide by 12V and you have a target minimum amps on 12V.

Where can i find information on computer gaming?
Q. I am doing a research paper on computer science and i chose to write about gaming, but i dont know where to start. Their are so many types of games out their and the only ones i have so far are these:
Types of Gaming:
1.Computer Games
2.Play Station
3.Wii
4.PSP
5.Nintendo DS
6.Xbox

What other types of gaming devices are their? Where can i find more information about this topic?

A. If you count the number of gaming devices since gaming was born, there are countless. Choosing typical samples is allowed in such a kind of survey or research, so I think the brands you've listed are okay because they are all popular brands. However, I have some notes to tell:
- There are 3 versions of Sony Playstation devices (the latest one is PS3, and the first one that you mentioned - PS - has been kinda out-dated).
- Similarly, we have Xbox (the first one) and Xbox 360.
- Both PSP and PS belong to Sony.
- Both Wii and Nintendo DS are products of Nintendo company.

You may try this link to see if it helps:

How do you remove a program from your computer?
Q. My son downloaded some huge Wizards101 game and I can't figure out how to remove it. When I go into ADD/Remove programs and click it to remove it the thing installs another program(Unity Web Player) instead. I can go back and delete the Unity Web Player but the Wizards game won't go away. I also tried searching in files and folders but found nothing under Wizards.

A. A good program I've been using to uninstall programs is Revo Uninstaller.

http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html?tag=mncol

It's free and will remove all of the junk left behind when uninstalling a program.

When you run it, use the advanced option for uninstall. If there is an error, continue anyway and delete what is left behind.

P.S., Another good utility is Glary Utilities...

http://download.cnet.com/Glary-Utilities/3000-2094_4-10508531.html?tag=mncol

Use the Disk Analysis tool and search in the folders in "Documents and Settings" under each user name. Look in the folder named "Application Data" and delete any folder pertaining to the program. There is also a folder named "Local Settings" with a similarly named "Application Data" subfolder. Repeat.

Be sure to delete the program folders for each program you mentioned that may still be in C://Program Folders.

After that run the Registry Cleaner in Glary and you should be all set.

P.P.S.,

Definitely download CCleaner that Colanth recommended. Run it every day. It takes seconds and you'll be thankful for having it.

Where can I find a desktop computer that is under 700 dollars?

Q. I'm looking for a new desktop computer. I would like to have a desktop computer that is at least under 700 dollars. I would like it to have an octo- core processor. If I can't find a desktop computer that has a octo- core processor within my budget then I would like to find a desktop computer that can be MAJORLY upgraded. I would also like to have a desktop computer that has at least 4g of RAM. Also I would like to have a good graphics card. If I can't get a good graphics card already with the computer then I will buy one separately. So if I could get a least of computers that fit this description that would be nice. Even if the computer is over 700 dollars you can still list it.

this is enough for heavy gaming, the first one meets your specs perfectly,
the second one is improved, if your willing to pay extra
FYI the 8350 upgrade is free for a limited time

Looking to build a gaming computer?
Q. I have a few questions.

1) Will I have to put it together myself? Or is there a site that will put it together themselves with what I want in it?

2) Is there any type of things I should be looking for? Specific specs, graphic cards, etc.

3) Can I make at least a gaming computer under 700 dollars that will run Battlefield 3 (And 4) on max settings? And any game like that, to be exact.

I have always gotten pre-made ones, but these are my only questions. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

A. 1. there are sites where they can help u build ur custom pc (eg. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com , http://avadirect.com/ , http://digitalstormonline.com/ )
2. for gaming pc look for anything above gtx560 or gtx 650 or hd7770, for cpu a dual or quad core i5 is sufficient, ssd will also improve u gaming exp (but it means that u will have little storage, so for ur budget just go with hdd)
3.for ur budget max setting (with 1650 x 1050 and beyond) may result in under 30fps but from my exp is still playable, just lag occassionally

Is it ok use a small SSD for a built gaming desktop?
Q. I am building a gaming pc and already have a 1tb external hard drive. Is it fine if I buy a small SSD for the computer OS and a few games while I use the external HD for everything else?

A. It depends how small and how much software you're running. I have a 1 TB internal HD on my computer, I play SWTOR, use Fraps, and Ableton live and it's usually always on the brink of being full. If you're just using the SSD for gaming and then transferring all of your other data to an external HD you should be fine.

Do you believe video/computer games are big factor in the uprising of childhood obesity rates?

Q. I'm just curious what you think on this question.
In my personal opinion, yes, I believe that video/computer games play a very important role in childhood obesity. Children no longer go outside and play, but sit in the house and play video games all day. These games are extremely addictive and they are responsible for an increased sedentary lifestyle among children.
Thoughts and opinions?

A. video games are not responsible, kids choose to do this. i remember all i did was go outside and play when i was little. but as soon as i had that ps1 in my room, i stopped. its all about choice. i don't think video games should be blamed. you also have to think about all the fast food restaurants that are on every block of america- its crazy. we're just moving a different cultrue i guess

What are your favorite things to do on a rainy day?
Q. I have a hard time finding things to do on rainy days..There are board games, cards, computer games/video games, books... but what else can you do with a loved one on a rainy day when others are around in the house?

A. OMG! I cannot believe no one has said to go fishing! This is the best time to catch that big elusive large mouth bass! Or, take it back to your childhood and get some paper and make some paper boats and set them to sailing down the side of the street in that fast flowing water running along the side of the curb! It's fun trust me!

What computer games right have the highest system requirements?

Q. What computer games right have the highest system requirements?

What is that system requirements?

What is the average and highest fps fo all computer games? (high and low system requirements games)

A. What you need:

-A dual core or quad core pentium or AMD (I like
AMD, but pentium is good too).
-2 gigs of DDR2 Ram
-Raided 10000 RPM hard drives. Size is up to you, but bigger is better for storage purposes. The RPM's are the important thing though, and RAID 0 bumps the speed to something fierce.
-NVidea 6800 ultra or better for a graphics card. A dual set up for card is nice, but not strictly necessary.
-450 watt power supply.
-Compatible motherboard (I like Asus better than Abit)
-A 1600-2400 Dpi mouse (noticeable difference there)
-A light-up keyboard so you can play in the dark.
-Soundblaster Audigy w/ speakers & subwoofer.
-Lian Li (or other) case
-Enough fans to keep that SOB cool

You'll be able to play FEAR, Oblivion, Crysis or Far Cry 2 at full optimization AND run a virus scan in the background. No joke man.

Have fun :)

Edit: And definitely go with a lower GHZ dual/quad core over a higher GHZ singlecore. The dual thread architecture is superior in every way, game manufacturers are starting to exploit that.

What kind of Mid-tower computer case has a good factory layout for a medium gaming setup?
Q. I found out that my dell inspiron 530s is not really upgradeable at all so im looking to buy another computer and start from scratch. My question is what kind of mid-tower computer case has a good layout for heavy upgrading as i am kind of new to building your own. I would mainly use the computer for light to medium gaming but medium to heavy word processing and medium 3d designing.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

A. I would recommend you check out the Antec 900. I used to own one and it's got plenty of room for future upgrades and build quality is top notch. The case has good airflow and plenty of mounting points for additional fans, giving very good airflow. I never had issues with overheating on any of my hardware.

The case itself is very common. Computer parts websites such as TigerDirect or NewEgg have it for ~$130.

Can anyone suggest a laptop that would be perfect for a college freshman?

Q. My current laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q885. Its too big.
I love this laptop and its features especially the memory, ram and the capability to play hardcore
games like skyrim or sims 3 or warcraft or mass effect 3.
I don't want to give up the power of my current computer, but lets be realistic, I cant bring an 18inch gaming laptop into class. I want a new laptop that is slimmer and 15 inches or less. Price is no option so long as it is under $1500.

A. Check out for ASUS G55VW-ES71 15.6-Inch Gaming Notebook
Intel Core i7 3610QM / Core i7 3610QM 2.3 GHz
8 GB SO-DIMM
500 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, Nvidia GTX 660M

Can someone suggest me some gaming computer parts?
Q. I was looking forward to building one for under 1500 dollars. And it must be able to run Battlefield 3 on ultra settings.

A. CPU - i5/i7 Quad
Memory - 16GB DDR3
Motherboard - fits your CPU
Hard Drive - SSD (60-120GB)
GPU - ATI or Nvidia
PSU - 650W+

Should roughly be around 800-900 with the monitor and keyboards then about 1200. 1500 too much.

What would you like to see change in computer gaming systems?

Q. I recently read that the computer gaming industry is running at 30 or 40% of what they could really be. What would change this? What needs to be done to increase this percentage?

A. personally i would like to see games utilize the dual core technology more, i recently bought Doom but found it only using half of the dual core (one core only) and as its a new comp i built i am really looking for a game to test its limits.

better programmers, and people emplyed only to come up with new game ideas would certainly be a help. also more 3d games and extreme interactive technology if you can find technology to help you pet your cat if your in asia and your cats in ontario why cant you wear a suit that when you get shot vibrates in that spot?

3. Quality of the cable running from the computer output to the speaker/headphones (properly shielded stereo wires).
Also make sure that your audio cable is running next to equipments which creates electric/magnetic intereference.

Computers now a days comes with digital outputs like S/PDIF HDMI etc... which can be used with compatible sound systems (with S/PDIF, HDMI inputs). These systems ensure a much better clearer and crispier sound.

Can you guys give me a computer part list under 800 dollars?

Q. Hello, I am thinking of building my own computer for perhaps, under 800 dollars. I will be using the computer for light gaming. Please include the case, fans, keyboard, and speaker in the part list, and make sure all the parts could be bought in stores like NCIX, CanadaComputers, and Tigerdirect. Thanks!
It would be best if it's your own computer. I want to be 100% sure the parts are compatiable. Sorry for the trouble!

Can my ex girlfriend take back the comptuer she made for me after we break up?

Q. My ex gf made me a computer to play games with her in sept 2012, i got rid of my laptop so i could save money on the payments. We broke up and she wants to take it back. Can she legally?

A. If it was a gift, then no. If it was not a gift, then yes. If she built it so you could play games but didn't tell you it was a gift, there's a chance she could get it back through legal means.

How do you install a graphics card and power supply completely?
Q. I want to upgrade my current gaming computer (CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA880 Desktop) with a new graphics card, and a new power supply. I just want to know what graphics card/power supply to use, and also if there is more to it, then just plunging it into the PC. Do you have to install a software to go along with it?

A. Just plug the graphics card into a PCI slot, you will need to download drivers, drivers are free. Power supply needs some screws, which should come with it. Then you just have to hook up the power cords. I would reccommend a GTX 600 series or AMD 7000 series. I prefer Nvidia. For a power supply, I would reccommend a Rosewill Fortress 750 watts. If you want a video tutorial, look up "How to build a gaming pc 2012". It should be by Carey Holesman. I might have miss-spelled the last name.

I want a good gaming PC that is cheap that I can customize on my own where can I go to get that?

Q. I've been trying really hard to get into PC gaming because its so much better than a console.. I also don't have a computer monitor so are there any suggestions for that? Thank you

A. If your looking for a gaming laptop then I would go with an HP Dv7 there not to expensive and there really good for gaming if you build right.

What is a good way to build a Gaming PC with economical standards?
Q. What is a good way to build a gaming PC that is an economical computer that can run games like BF3 at standard graphics like Xbox. I don't want to waste money on a 1,000 dollar computer, I just want a computer that can run games well, not the heretic way of every game must be ultra settings, but in a comfortable way like the Xbox, sometimes there a lags, but mostly it can run games at a normal standard at a fair price.

A. GPU (Video Card) - EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2662-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card: 229$

CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost). 204$

Motherboard - MSI P67A-GD80 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - 99$

RAM - Corsair 4GB - 18$

HDD - Seagate Barracuda ES ST3500630NS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare - 39$

Optical Drive - Sony 24X DVD burner. - 18$

Case: Rosewill REDBONE Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - 39$

Accessories - A decent 1080P monitor. Headphones/Speakers. Keyboard and a mouse.

It'll cost you an average of 650$ without the accessories. You'll be spending at least 750-800$.

With the above rig I've mentioned, you can pretty much max out any game currently available.
If you don't want to pay 800$ then, for the CPU, you can get the AMD Phenom II X4 970, for the GPU, you can get the GTX 560. If you're getting an AMD CPU then get the ASUS M5A88M motherboard. The Phenom II X4 970 is a beast at gaming and so is the GTX 560. You'll be spending about 199$ less if you go with this setup.

Good luck, mate. :)

Do you need a computer to hook up your xbox to a computer monitor?

Q. Thinking about buying a computer monitor to hook up to my xbox. I've heard people talk about their graphics cards helping the quality, so that makes me think you need a computer for this. Can you not hook up your xbox directly to a monitor? Thanks for the help.

A. No, in fact, connecting your Xbox to your computer is the WRONG way to do this. You'd have to buy a video capture card and that, plus Windows, and everything, adds about a 1 second lag to the image which makes it pretty much impossible to play games. The graphics card does nothing to improve the quality.

You will want to connect your Xbox directly to the monitor. Or better yet just buy a small HDTV. That way you'll have speakers as well. Most HDTVs also have a VGA input for older computers, or you can use a HDMI/DVI cable for newer ones.

How can I connect both my Xbox 360 and Desktop Computer to one Computer monitor so I can capture my gameplay?

How can I put Halo: Reach video onto my computer?

Q. I have a few Halo: Reach theatre vids that I want to put onto my computer. I have a flash drive setup for the xbox but I dont know if I can move the Reach vid onto it. I have no money to but Bungie Pro or any kind of Capture Card. Please and Thank you

A. Dexter, you seem to have been confused. It does not download to your computer, the next time you load up Halo Reach it will download to your saved films on your Xbox.

Saved films on Halo 3 and Reach are NOT video files, they are merely compilations of game data which can be played through the games engine via theatre. The only way to capture film is a capture device i.e. internal/external capture card or Bungie Pro which is not recommended.

What is the maximum amount of RAM you can have in a PC at this moment in time?
Q. I have only 1GB in my computer which is almost 2 years old. But I've heard of some computers that have HUGE amounts of memory.
Also, what's the maximum processor that's available? (I only have Dual Core 1.8GHz haha, and I play online games)

A. Unless your motherboard is junk, your dual core Intel E series cpu will address 4GB under 32 bit Windows. A 64 bit build will address 12 GB in dual channel mode. However, your question was, "What is the maximum amount of RAM you can have in a PC at this moment in time?". The answer to that is in excess of 40 GB depending upon the setup. In a PC running Linux, the bios does not determine maximum memory. It is strictly a hardware issue. Mac OS X, which is a form of Debian Linux will use all of the memory you can throw at it. I have 32 GB in my 8 core Mac Pro. I have a Linux machine using a $75.00 motherboard, a 2.2ghz dual core & 16 GB ram. Gaming is phenomenal on this machine.
One last thing to remember: if you have a frame buffering AGP video card, especially a small one, your system RAM is going to take a huge hit. Fire up one of those online games, and open your system monitor. See how much FREE memory you have. You may need a vid card, and not more system memory. Cheers!

What is the best software to improve gaming?

Q. I want to improve my computer for gaming without buying anything. What is the best software to do this?

A. There is not really any software that will improve your gaming but you can do the following which may improve performance.

Get the latest drivers for your graphics card, soundcard, display
Defragment your harddrive
check for spyware, adware. viruses
Make sure you have no other programs running while playing.
Disabling anti virus while you play games may help but do this at your own risk.

What major would video game design and computer graphic design be listed under?

Q. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I don't know a better place. What would that major be considered? I want to get into video game design, animation, and computer graphic design, but I'm not sure what the proper term for that is called. Can someone please help me out? Thanks!

A. Along with everyone else - it's random. Depending on where you go - it is different things.
For what you want look at colleges like Fullsail in Florida, some of the Art Institutes, and Art Center in California. Make sure they have 3D modeling and programming.
Be careful with programs that are just "digital design" and stuff like that. These programs can be so random in what they teach you that you won't learn enough to get into game design. (I know this from being at University of Cincinnati with Digital Design majors who have not gotten enough 3D modeling to do what they were told they would be able to.)
Start looking at portfolios of some game companies you like and see what they require for an entry level position. Usually they are crazy high - but you may be able to find out what you need and choose a program from there.
Fullsail really is great for game design - it's what they are all about - I suggest you look there.

How to become a video-games graphic designer?
Q. Excuse my ignorance, don't really know much about this so I might even be using the wrong words; my son would like to design video-games once grown up; so I was wondering if anyone knows what faculty should he pick at the university and what kind of Degree he should achieve in order to fulfill his dream. Moreover, is there a sort of basic 'games graphic design' computer program he could buy in the meantime just to learn the basics and get more into the whole thing? Thanx for your help:)

A. He can go to Fullsail University in Florida.

I was going to go there but did not pursue a gaming career. They have a number if degrees available in the entertainment business.

Go check it out at http://www.fullsail.edu/

He may also want to apply for various internships and beta testing jobs with game companies to get his foot in the door. E.A sports for example.

What is a good gaming computer thats cheap?
Q. Im looking to buy a gaming desktop, but wasnt sure whats good to buy price wise but works the best, inwas looking to stay under $900 but that will be able to run Guild Wars 2 fluidly.

A. if it is just the computer itself with no monitor you should be looking at an Intel i5 Cpu (Ivy-Bridge) or an Amd 8*** series Cpu. look for at least a Nvidia GTX 650 ti or a Radeon HD 7770. 4-8Gbs of Ram is fine and make sure it doesn't have a cheapy power supply! you best choice is to build one yourself so you get everything just the way you want it and it would be cheaper too...

How much is a good gaming computer?

Q. It'll be my birthday soon and I'm looking to get a good gaming desktop computer, but I need information on prices. Some of you might be familiar with the upcoming game, Guild Wars 2, and I'm looking for a machine that could run a game with graphics like that smoothly.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Well, something that isn't too expensive. The main focus should be on game graphics. Kind of on a budget.

A. No way, I recently made one. You can get a decent modern gaming rig for about $1000. When I say that, I mean decent. For a pretty good one that can easily play guild wars or whatever, except super high graphics games, which that isn't....
So...maybe only about $1500, that includes 12gb DDR3, a 2 GB DDR5 Grahpics and $200 Motherboard; and sound card...and people forgot....i7, i5 yes is around 300; however the AMD's phenom X4 or X6 is only around 100 bucks and is nearly equivalent, if not equal to the i7's performance for gaming. Most gamers use AMD's X6 Black Edition Over-Clocked on a tighter budget. so with that in mind only around $1500. Like other say over $3000, you are talking wayyy top of the line gaming, even wayy more than enough for the most modern games.'

as reference...graphics cards...decent ones ,those 1gb DDR5 cards are around $150-200...those with 2 gb DDR5 are around $300...Best ones around$700 4GB
Please, $1000 is best, no questions, hands down. I know what I'm talking about.

What is the best computer site that allows you to build a computer?
Q. Looking for a gaming type computer, that I can build.

A. if u want to start and choose everything from scratch and you know how to put stuff together go to:
newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com building from scratch will actually save you a lot of money i built a pc that cost me about $3000 and is better than those $4000-$9000 blackbird, alienware, and voodoo PCs you just have to know how to overclock your system and pick the right CPU and motherboard.
a Quad core is always a good choice.

What should I get for a Gaming computer?
Q. Well I just got a computer so i want to get some upgrades for it. Ive been looking at Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset, a logitech g510 keyboard, and a razer molten naga mouse. SO im asking you if you have any reason i should not get these or any recommendations on what i should get?

A. All the worthless bells and whistles you mentioned above are not "upgrades", as you called them.

For a gaming computer, what you really need is:

A good processor, at least Intel Core i5-2500K or even better i7-2600K, mount either one on an LGA1155, Z68 chipset motherboard
A good graphics card, at least GeForce GTX460 or better
Minimum 4GB (8GB would be better) of DDR3 1600 or 1333 RAM

Q. I am a bout to purchase a computer gaming usb compatible headset for my PS3, and I am wondering if it will work. I know there are usb headsets designed for the PS3, but this one has an audio to usb converter with it. Will it work?

A. ANY usb headset can be used on the PS3. I used my old one until I got bluetooth. You just need to make sure you activate it on the PS3 options.

How do you upgrade your ram and video card for better performance on the PC do I have to go and buy stuff?

Q. I play the sims game and I want my computer game to be faster and it says to have a bigger RAM and a good video card or something and I dont know if this is something that needs to be installed or do i have to make changes within the computer to do so.

A. You would have to purchase new components to upgrade the RAM and video, although it really depends on what kind of computer you have now. Most desktop computers do have expansion slots to upgrade, but some don't. Some computer motherboards have integrated audio/video/network components that should be disabled if you're going to upgrade. The form factor of your board could also be an issue. Check with the manufacturer of your computer to see if this is an option or if you have a custom made computer, get in contact with whoever built it. Some parts houses will install your hardware for a fee, so if you're not familiar with hardware installation, I'd recommend you have someone do it for you. Also, check your SIMS game to see what the recommended computer hardware configuration is. If your computer is upgradeable, make sure whatever you buy matches that. Good luck.

What video card would you recommend for a reasonable price?
Q. I am planning on building a custom computer for gaming and audio production when I get some money. I currently have the Nvidia geforce gts 450 video card, it is alright but I want an upgrade. I am wondering what video card you would recommend. I'm not able to spend a thousand for a top of the line one or anything. Maybe 300-500 dollars max. I am wanting to be able to play games like Bioshock Infinite, Crysis, battlefield, etc. with full or near full graphics (Crysis might be pushing it a bit seeing how my current card can run most games from a few years ago on full settings and not Crysis 2 on lowest.) So to recap, $300-$500 video card that can play games on high-full settings. Thanks a lot for the help!

A. Best card on the market right now in the $300 dollar range is the HD 7950. At stock its pretty good, but once it over clocks is where it really shines. Can max every game out (Crysis 3 the only exception with slightly lowered MSAA), and runs very cool.

The 660ti for $275 or so will perform slightly better out of the box. But trust me, stick any of these two together and get a max stable over clock and the 7950 wins hands down. It competes with the GTX 670, and even the GTX 680 out of the box.

You won't possibly get better bang for your buck then the 7950. I would highly suggest ether Gigabye or Sapphire as the vendor. They have the best cooling solutions.

Also go to AMD's website to see if there are any retailers you can use to make use of the free games promotion when you buy 7900 series cards (Crysis 3 and BioShock are free).

What are some fun games that dont need shader model 3?

Q. I like computer games, but have a crappy computer! i only have shader model 2! that seems to be my only issue with games! i just have a crappy graphics card! so if you know any older games that are fun, let me know!

A. Try out Tibia online if you're looking for an MMO. I had tons of fun with that back in the day, and it requires basically nothing of a computer.

How to abandon video game addiction?
Q. I am addicted to a computer game(MMO, World of tanks), which ruins my studies. When I get home I play hours of it instead of writing homework, etc.
Once I deleted the game, but I downloaded it again after 30 days.
I need help from experts, how to stop this bad habbit. Please give me some advice and links where I can find more help.
Thank you in advance.

A. I'm no expert but I didn't have video games when I was growing up nor did I have electricity. I'm 19 now but anyway find something else fun to do like riding horses or going out with friends. You need a hobby and delete the game again too and stay off the computer as much as you can.
