How to build a gaming desktop computer for under $1000?

Q. I want to build a gaming desktop computer very badly. However, my budget is only $1000. Could somebody tell me the parts I need to buy (that are compatible with each other) so that I could build a gaming computer? Also, the computer has to be able to run high quality games. I am a newbie at building computer so if somebody could recommend a site or something to me that tells me how to make the computer, thank you!
Also, I forgot to mention, I would preferably like the parts to be available on amazon.com since my dad usually doesn't trust other websites. Thanks!

A. For under $1000, you could pick up a core i5 Sandy Bridge, GTX 460, look for a motherboard that supports 1155 CPU Pin design (because that's compatible with the core i5 Sandy Bridge), pick up a Western Digital 1TB Drive, 4-8 GB of DDR3 RAM (look for the dual channel kits). The Antec 900 would be a nice case, but also check out XCLIO Full ATX cases. You should look up all of these items on newegg.
