Does anyone remember the character Lance Boyle from the MegaRace computer game in the 1990's?

Q. It's been like 15 years, and I'm still quoting him. Whoever wrote his script was a genuis. It was just a random computer game we bought too.

A. I do remeber the game and I used to think the host was the dude from the b52s.

Just the other day I was thinking about this game and couldn't remeber it's name.

Why some of the students around the world are now hooked in computer games and pornographic sites?
Q. 90 out of 100 students are now hooked in internet set aside of the reason that they have to research because most of the time they are fond of computer games.Instead of buying foods in their money they spend it all along to internet cafes. They don't think about their studies. So,how can we prevent them from addictness to be a formal person. You know what I mean.

A. I would love to know your source for 90% of students being addicted to the internet (or does "hooked in" mean "have access to"?).

I would like to mention that having an internet connection does not automatically mean that a student (or anyone else for that matter!) is looking at pornography, or playing video games.

That fun disclaimer aside, our society as a whole has been turning away from personal interaction for decades. I would like you to consider what mass media did for the world: It told us what was going on in the world. In order to find out what's going on in the world, we had to sit there and listen (radio) or watch (movie newsreels, television). This started us on a path of being listeners, but not active listeners. We could not ask questions of the radio, TV or newsreel, because it was not a live person in front of us!

All over the world, community and connectedness have become fragmented because we live in a world that is increasingly angled toward convenience and speed. Garage Door Openers prevent neighbors from talking because you don't have to get out of your car. Takeout meals mean you don't have to talk to your waiter/waitress. Grocery Self-Checkout means you don't have to make small-talk with the clerk. Shopping on the internet eliminates the "no thanks, I'm just browsing" in a store.

My point (though drawn-out) is that we are missing community, and many people who are intensely focused on computers do so because they find a different kind of community there. We do not have casual social interaction in many societies now, but there are substitutions for community in many social groups and interactions online through games, gaming, and social networking sites.

If you want to prevent your child from being addicted to gaming, then give them a community and foundation with real people. Pay attention to them at home, take them to events outside the home in the community, give them a stake in their community and promote volunteerism. It may sound goody-goody, but if there is a balance between real and virtual, it will be a lot easier to walk away from the computer when it's time to deal with real-world responsibilities.

What's a great computer game that teaches you about business transactions and corporations?

Q. I would like to buy a computer game that could teach me information about corporations and how they work. A game that has to deal with entrepreneurship would be great. Something that is very detailed and fun at the same time.

A. Years ago, before the days of Windows, there was a game called Lemonade that we played on our Commodore VIC-20 computer. Am extremely simple, text based game. But our kids absolutely LOVED it! I

In each round, the computer gave you the weather forecast, the daily cost of lemons and sugar, and allowed you to place your order for your lemonade stand. It then reported how the weather actually turned out, and how much lemonade you sold. And too, of course, your profits.

Doesn't teach about corporations, but what a fun way to learn about small business!

How to buy a computer game without using a credit card or pay pal but by cash or Cheque?
Q. Is it possible to buy a computer game online whereby cash or a cheque is acceptable ? For example your are looking for a game on yahoo games and you find it . You want to buy it but neither cash nor cheque are accepted . what other means that are legal can you use to buy that game without using a credit card or pay pal or anything of the sort?

A. if it's on yahoo games and it costs to download, there's a very good chance that you can buy it at a store. try looking in a game shop or computer store. they will probably have those games. my wife wanted to download diner dash, but instead of paying yahoo like 20 bucks for it, we bought it at MicroCenter for half that.
