Cheapest computer that will run Games for Windows?

Q. Where can I find a computer that has good enough specs to run these games. If you dont know what I mean, Im talking about Gears of War PC or Halo 2 PC. The ones that will get you achievements. They all have minimum requirements to play them. I already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers. I just need a tower. What is a good cheap gaming computer that will run all of those games? Thanks

A. BUILDING A GAMING PC.
do you have what it takes to build your own pc?
it's not as hard as most people will try to tell you it is and with a little research and a few hours of reading you will be able to gain the knowledge of how the whole process works.
there are alot of good sites around that have great articles and videos that will help to show you how to put a system together step by step.
for a better understanding of what a gaming pc is and what specs/parts you should aim to use,
try these keywords in a google search "building a gaming pc" & "budget gaming pc" and read
some of the articles that show up, but to help you save some time i have also included a few
of the links that i found to be very help full.

link 1.
this site was packed with loads of good info but involves a lot of reading but as a result
when you have read as much as you can then you will have a better understanding of what it is that you are trying to build.

http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/index.html

link2.
this link will take you to a great set of videos on youtube that show all the steps of building a computer, there is seven separate movie that show you a few steps at a time.
i would also suggest downloading realplayer 11 if you don't already have it so you can download and save these movies to your computer for future reference.

to download realplayer:

the next 3 are a bit less reading intensive and you will quickly find there suggested parts list.

Also are you expecting to play the games at low setting or medium to high setting or max the game out .
With a cheap Gaming desktop you wont achieve a lot .

a good, 'cheap' gaming computer?

Q. Hey, I play world of warcraft on a 7+ year old emachine that restarts itself constatly. I'm forced to play on the lowest settings while the game is evolving towards HD and improved graphics. What i'm really looking for:
-GOOD graphics card / monitor, HD maybe?
-smooth gameplay
-these conditions without blue screens :)

I'm not the best with computer-lingo, but is it possible to get a computer that has the components for those requirements without other overkill/uneeded features? Thanks!

A. The words "good, cheap, gaming" tells the tale. You can't get that. Also a gaming system is a system that's built with "overkill/nueeded features". The system you have now is what you have described and it's not suited for gaming.

This system would run your WOW decently and it is cheap.

A real nice system.

cheapest gaming desktop?
Q. looking for a new desktop that can play games like gta iv, black ops, etc. im not really onto high settings. medium is fine.

so any recommendations for a cheap gaming desktop and the specs of it and also price.

A. gaming computers aren't cheap. generally they are 600+ for a decent one. really the thing that separates a gaming computer from a regular computer is 3 things.
1)the RAM. the amount of ram your using directly effects how large of a game you can handle, more ram=larger game. most computers now come with 4 or more GB of ram which is all you will need for black ops. its how fast the ram reads that is what reduces lag. a faster reading card will keep your game smooth.
2)processing power if your processor runs at a low speed, which is measured in GHZ then the game won't run well.
and 3) your graphics card. probobly the single most important peice of hardware. your graphics card is what makes your computer able to understand and display all the data that it needs to. the speed of a graphics card is measured in GBPS. and many computers come with low storage graphics card. generally, graphics cards that come stock in computers have 223, to 556mb of storage on them, which won't do. i had a 223mb graphics card in my computer, and Bad company 2 was flashing black and white. thats how necessary it is to get a graphics card that can handle it. i upgraded to a PNY Geforce 240 1gb model and im very impressed. rather than buying a new computer, i spent 170$ on a new graphics card and it works wonderfully.

those are the things you should look for when it comes to getting a gaming PC. i never owned a specially designed gaming PC so i cant tell you what to get. but the graphics card is what most directly effects it.

A. Wow all these people don't know how to make a good computer cheap.
Ill help you make a cheap and powerful computer.
Firstly to make a good Gaming computer that can play top of the line
graphics we need to have a good GPU, and all thats needed to make the game
run smooth is 4 cores. so we will sacrafic a bit of CPU for a more powerful GPU.

I will do an AMD build because it is cheaper.

I hope I helped you. BTW order the Motherboard and CPU first before you order the memory to make sure the memory/RAM is completely compatible with the board. Im quite sure it is but ASUS can be fishy when it comes to RAM sometimes.

I encourage you to look up alot of sites on how exactly to build and install a CPU, Motherboard, the Fan, and how how all the parts fit together. BTW this Motherboard is highly upgradeable when you learn more about computers so it is a good start. Be safe and find out how to build it.

What's the cheapest gaming computer I can buy?
Q. I need a good gaming computer that will play games like Left4Dead without lag. I need ideas on what kind of gaming computer I can buy that's really cheap, at least $1000 or under.

A. There is never really cheap when it comes to gaming computers. I would go go for a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, for a video card at least a Nvidia 9800 GTX+(a faster version of this card would be a GTS 250, it is just the same card be slightly faster), or an ATI Radeon 4870 HD. I am pretty sure not many store bought computers will have these settings, you could build your own though but since you want to buy a cheap computer I wouldn't suggest building one. Don't go for Core i7 or Core i5 processors right now since most retailers will sell them more around $1500 to $2000, unless you want to build a system with a Core i7 or i5 processor in it.

I am just saying when you do go for a retail PC you will down the road need to upgrade the video card, add more RAM, or more hard drives, so go as cheap as you want, but you won't have the performance unless you really build it yourself and browse for motherboards yourself. Just a suggestion.

But if you want to keep prices down I would still suggest going for a Core 2 Quad processor and a GTS 250 or an AMD processor with a Radeon 4870, since AMD doesn't price their products as high as Nvidia does.

If you have anymore questions or comments about my answer, please feel free to contact me and I will gladly reply.
Have a nice day
