My computer can run games fine but cant run applications very well. How does fix?

Q. On my computer, I can run games such as:Skyrim, Amnesia, Left 4 Dead, and Minecraft fine but when I run programs such as Finale 2012, Ableton, Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, and FL Studio my computer runs like a chimp with a prolapsed anus. Do I need to get more RAM to make the programs faster? A new processor perhaps? This is what I know about my computers hardware:

3.00 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)
AMD C-50 Processor 1.00 GHz
Toshiba Satellite C655D
285 GB Hard Drive

A. Autodesk programs use ALLOT of processor. I would say that the games are mostly using ram and video and less processor so they are running better but those programs that are very processor heavy are bogging down your system. The only thing you can do is get a second computer with a much bigger processor just for working on your autodesk and adobe programs. 3ds max uses my entire quad core 2.83 GHz. That program sometimes crashes for me so i even need a bigger processor. The ram and operating system are fine. Photoshop will lag but should run ok if you close all other unnecessary programs when you run it and take your time with it.

Good gaming computer?
Q. Does anyone any good gaming computers in ireland, i really want to play arma 2 but my computer cant play it and i want a new one

A. The best value is building one or having a local shop build one for you.

Here's a nice pre-built system:
http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gaming+Range/Cyclone/Gladiator+CYCLONE+Vortex+MKIV+Intel+3.50GHz+Gaming+PC+?productId=50324

However you have to add £72 for a copy of Windows 7 ot be pre-installed.

Or you can buy a custom gaming rig from Cyberpower PC. I recommend starting with this:
http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/weekly_sales_II/

Then choose the following upgrades:
Graphics card - Radeon HD 7850 or 7870
Power supply- Corsair 650W (NOT Cooler Master)
Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Arma II performance:

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/03/05/amd-radeon-hd-7850-2gb/3

If you just wanted to play on high settings instead of ultra, this would do fine:
http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gaming+Range/Cyclone/Gladiator+CYCLONE+Decimator+MKIV+Intel+3.30GHz+Gaming+PC+?productId=50323

Of course you'd still need to add £72 for Windows.

Why are American people priorities out of whack and not wanting to help this country?

Q. People are complaining about health care reform, People have lots of money and not wanting to help those that actually need it. We are in a bad time right now and people wants game systems, ipods, new computers, laptops and other new gadgets and a new home and a new care every two years. People we have some bad times on our hands all you want to do is complain about this health reform. I don't care about the taxes now and generations a few years from now. I want to help the cause and problem now so we don't have a problem in the future.

A. Many do, but have been lied to, both about the need for reform and the nature of what Obama has planned to make America better.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4,5].
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [6].
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [7].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

What are the best parts for a gaming computer?
Q. I'm looking for the best parts for a gaming computer so that I can get all of it off of ebuyer and build my computer but i'm not too sure what are the best things to have. I want to be able to play Garry's mod, Minecraft, Left 4 Dead 2, Lego games, Sumotori Dreams and World of Warcraft. I also want to record videos and put them on Youtube and eventually become a partner.. So what are the best parts for the computer and what is the best recording software?

A. Tom's hardware provides very good comparison guides for most components and even low, mid and high end build guides that you could take in total.

Help me choose the best parts to build a computer build?

Q. Lately I have been thinking about building a computer rig. I decided to use a forum post to do so.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
Programming. - Visual Studio 2012, Microsoft Office 2012, Compiling, Graphics, Adobe Master's Collection ( Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks ). Very very little gaming will be done. This rig is not intended to be a gaming rig.

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM / sellers? If not- why?
Yes

3. What is your MAX budget?
3000 dollars

4. Planning to overclock?
Maybe. I heard that overclocking on processors wear them down. Don't know if it's good to overclock.

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
Windows 7 Professional

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
2 TB

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want?
If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
Screen resolution: 2560 x 1440 WQHD, 27 inch

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
8

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Done by an assembler

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
3 week

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
No

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
i3 and i5 processors

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
USA and want to buy parts in the USA

A. $3000 is beyond overkill for such a machine. However, it sounds like this is a business machine and therefore I suggest you buy a business class workstation from a Tier 1 manufacturer because you don't want to be troubleshooting stuff by yourself while your money-making computer is down. you want to call someone and have them send the replacement part overnight.

If you insist on building, i'd suggest nix327's build from here

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/toms-hardware-bestconfigs-build-a-pc,3453-3.html

but replace the i3 with an i7-3770 (not the K version since you won't be overclocking) and upgrade the 64GB SSD to the 256GB Samsung 840 in the other build. You'll still be well below $1000 so invest in a nice monitor, maybe one of the 27" 1440p models since I know developers like their real estate space. The onboard GPU in the i7 is more than enough to power that resolution for software development and the occasional flash based game.

What is a good, cheap gaming laptop to run arma 2 operation arrowhead?
Q. My Mom got a computer for about $300 from wal-mart around Christmas of 2012,and it can run aram 2 on high settings with very little lag by myself on editor mode.Campaign can lag,and multiplayer mostly lags a little unless there is alot of people. She has a computer with windows 8,so I do not know how to check the system settings and what I have, but my Dad said that the place where he bought my $100 Dell Latitude D420 at makes custom computers.I want a computer that I can afford($0-$400please) that can run Operation Arrowhead great, just a gaming computer.

A. Something that increases your FPS significantly will be turning ALL of your video settings plus advanced to as low as it can go, or even disabled.

I know, it will ruin the graphics, NOPE.
Te game still looks great, you'll get used to it aft awhile..
Yu can probably play if you put your settings to medium/low, since my CPU has way worse specs and it can run on low settings.

What is the best computer cleaning software available for 2012?

Q. I am constantly installing and uninstalling games on my computer because i ma member of steam. I just got a new PC about a month ago i want to keep it clean and running smooth i wanted to know what was the best PC cleaning software out there.

A. You should NEVER use PC cleaning software, it causes more harm than good.

All you really need to do is uninstall using the games uninstaller.

Steam is really good about removing all unnecessary files after uninstallation

The guy below me is a moron and wants your computer to fry. I have been in the computer industry in IT and systems management for 22 years, don't listen to the clearly uneducated dumb ass below me.
