Want to play Xbox 360 games on HD computer monitor?

Q. What will I need? I have an Xbox 360 VGA/HD/AV cable. I'm wanting to buy an LCD HD monitor for computer, will I be able to get a HD signal on it from my Xbox?

I do not want to get a television, only a monitor :) Thanks
But I am a bit worried that if I buy an HD monitor, it won't have a VGA input?

A. Yep the Xbox 360 VGA/HD cable will work in HD as its name suggests. Thats what i use. Get the genuine one though

How to view 2 monitor inputs at the same time?
Q. Hello. I have an hp monitor and it has a vga input and a dvi input. My dvi is hooked up to my tower/desktop to use it as a computer monitor. My vga input I use to play my xbox on. I was wondering, instead of switching inputs back and forth on the monitor to go from xbox game to computer desktop screen. Is there a program that allows the monitor to broadcast both inputs at the same time? thank you.

A. There is not.

Do you need a computer to hook up your xbox to a computer monitor?

Q. Thinking about buying a computer monitor to hook up to my xbox. I've heard people talk about their graphics cards helping the quality, so that makes me think you need a computer for this. Can you not hook up your xbox directly to a monitor? Thanks for the help.

A. No, in fact, connecting your Xbox to your computer is the WRONG way to do this. You'd have to buy a video capture card and that, plus Windows, and everything, adds about a 1 second lag to the image which makes it pretty much impossible to play games. The graphics card does nothing to improve the quality.

You will want to connect your Xbox directly to the monitor. Or better yet just buy a small HDTV. That way you'll have speakers as well. Most HDTVs also have a VGA input for older computers, or you can use a HDMI/DVI cable for newer ones.

Pros and cons of using a computer monitor for console gaming?

Q. I'm debating getting a computer monitor (specifically a 24 inch Samsung LED monitor) for my Xbox 360 and PS3 (and to use my computer on) and I am wondering about the pros and cons of gaming on it.

I can only think of pros (high resolution, fast response time, cheaper) but I am sure there are some cons.

Any opinions on this?

A. pros its better for gaming as better respond time, allot cheaper 23" monitor £120 1080p
cons most don't have speakers so need a different sound system
i use a 23" monitor and a pair of speakers and work Great

Can you hookup an xbox or other game console to a computer monitor?
Q. it would be alot cheaper to buy a decent sized flatscreen monitor then a TV, and since I have no cable hookup in my room the TV serves no fuction for me, So i was wondering if its possible to hookup anything with AV output (like an xbox, dvd player etc) to a computer monitor?

A. you would need a converter to change the output of the xbox video to match the input of the flatscreen. Ive found all kinds of weird converters and cables on ebay.

How do I hook my xbox 360 to my computer monitor?

Q. My monitor only has DVI and VGA. But I would like to use my computer monitor to play xbox 360 games. Is this the sort of cable I need? http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-HDMI-Adapter-Cable-Meters/dp/B001TH7T2U/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

If I use that cable will my computer speakers pick up the audio from my xbox or would I need another cable for that?

A. You need an xbox vga av cable like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DGPNOM/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00

As for the seller, I recommend eforcity. I always order from them :p
Since your monitor doesn't have hdmi, this cable will connect your xbox directly to your monitor through the vga port. If you get a third party cable, the color will be a little washed out, but it's not too noticeable. As for audio, you'll need something like: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009JFF7A/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00 if you have a typical speaker system with the standard 3.5 mm plug. The red and white plugs will fit into the adapter for sound.
These should work. I actually just successfully set up my xbox with my samsung syncmaster monitor using these exact products a few days ago.
Good luck! :)

I am looking for a 24ish in monitor to play xbox and pc games on?
Q. I do not know anything about computer monitors. Therefore i will not be disappointed with a lower quality monitor, however, i would like a quality monitor that will suit my needs. I am guessing i will need a normal quality monitor (nothing "gamer") but not anything junky. I really appreciate all of the help i could get. I am willing to spend up to 250 dollars including shipping. Links would be helpful. Thanks again!

A. I have this monitor http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+23%22+Widescreen+Flat-Panel+LCD+HD+Monitor+-+Black/9274616.p?id=1218072891677&skuId=9274616

I really like it. I would definitely recommend an LG monitor. They are top of the market in quality. Another brand worth considering is Asus. I haven't seen any of their desktop monitors but the screen on my Asus laptop is amazing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020%2050001315%201309821328&name=24%22
