Gaming laptop under 500 dollars?

Q. I'm in a need for a laptop that is under $500. My budget can stretch little over $500. I play games like League of Legends and FPS (Counterstrike, CoD, BF4....). I don't really care for max settings, I prefer smoothness over quality. So can anybody recommend a good computer that I play games on?

A. $500 is low. For a time, Acer offered a laptop with HD 7670 graphics at $500 on closeout.
Although games like League of Legends can run on any modern laptop, you mention BF4, and some other modern games require much more graphics power to run, and some games set high minimums.
Used laptops are usually without significant warranty and do fail far more often.
You may see some sales next towards mid-March as the Asian accounting year is Apr 1-Mar 31 and a press for sales occurs.
Desktop/towers built on your own and using an already available TV can do much better.
Here is a gaming to graphics card list:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
Intel HD Graphics 4400 at rank 252 is marginal.
Newegg.com, often of best prices, has nothing under $650 with dedicated graphics.
Lenovo G505s, a basic Essentials level from them where Ideapads and Thinkpads are more reliable, starts at $530 plus sales tax in Calif, NJ, TN
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313719
AMD A-Series A10-5750M is not a strong CPU, but has Radeon HD 8650G.
That gets you to rank 192, and misses a few games, but may be the best you can do at $500.
Shop around, check the table reference, ask about it.

Brand Quality:

The lower end of each brand is HP-Pavilion, Lenovo Essentials, Toshiba Satellite, Dell Inspiron, HP-Compaq, and all Acer-Gateway

Newegg, BHPhoto, Adorama each may have something and even Best Buy sells a special deal every now and then.

Can I make a gaming computer for under 500 dollars?
Q. I would like to build a good computer that can run games smooth for under 500 dollars. I have someone helping me build it so I just need to buy the parts. I was wondering what parts I can buy and how many fps games will run with the parts.

A. The fool above me forgot ram, power supply, and operating software, arguably the most important things.

Oh, and bull shit to his 15 years computer building experience. You don't forget about those things, just don't listen to him.

/sigh

For 500 you really can't build anything that would run games. I'm sorry, but you really can't. If you plan on playing games you will need about a 700-900 dollar budget and with that you can get an entry level PC. If you can't afford that I would really suggest just buying a video game console such as the PS3 or Xbox 360.

With 1000 dollars I can build this;

Intel i3-2130 - 140
Intel H67 mobo - 110
8gb 1333mhz ram - 50
Radeon 6870 - 170
Corsair CX500 psu - 60
WD blue 500gb 7200rpm hard drive - 100
Generic DVD drive - 40
Zalman z9 plus case - 70
Windows 7 64bit OEM - 100

So this will be a well working machine capable of maxing alot of games, with an affordable price tag. Total comes to 840, assuming you have peripherals

What is the best desktop for the money?

Q. Under 500 dollars? I am fed up with this school computer. I want to pack it up into a box and forget it exists. It would be nice to be able to use proxies, gaming, email, and facebook again too. I only need a tower, I will use my school's monitor, but this tower is humming and driving me insane. Running slower than ever and has school blocks on it.
NEVER AGAIN.

A. For 500$ you could get a almost heavy duty gaming machine! IF you build one yourself, dont be scared its not hard at all.If you dont want to build one, just go to IBUYPOWER.com or CYBERPOWERPC.com. they're both great

PC BUILD:
AMD a-10 5800K @ 3.8 GHz (4.2Gz Turbo Boost) quad core *comes with Radeon HD 7660D* CPU
Radeon HD 6670 to crossfire with the 7660D above (graphics card)
ASRock FM2A75M-DGS FM2 AMD A75 (Motherboard)
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 (ram)
Seagate Barrucuda 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower case
CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS.
well, thats pretty much all you need for anything, you could play Battlefield 3 almost maxed out with this monster budget machine.
total (from newegg only) is only 464$!!! you could add a few Super-quiet additions to it if you want the PC running very quiet too, though ive hear the AMD APU's run quiet by themselves, well I hope this helped you!!!>: remember if you DONT wanna build, go to IBuyPower.com or CyberPowerPC.com, they're both great (the pc build is MUCH better for the money though ;)

What is a fast custom gaming computer under 500 dollars?
Q. I am only looking for the parts because i want to make it myself.

A. if it is under 500 dollars u will be unable to make it very fast, but best parts onthat kind of budget are
video card: nvidia 8800 series (8600 is k if you cant afford 8800)
cpu: any dual core 2.5 GHz and up (pentium D's are real cheap)
ram: any ram as long as you have 2-4 GB
those are the parts that matter everything else is up to you
also for psu you will need about 500W

what kind of gaming computer is best for a 500 budget?

Q. i am look to build or buy a gaming computer for under a budget of 500 dollars. I know nothing about computers but I want one because of the low costing games and the high graphics. What would you parts or computer would you recommend and are there any videos on how to make the computer if need and thanks for the help

A. There are plenty of videos on building computers, just search youtube. For the parts, I'd recommend a Core i3 2100 CPU, a Geforce 400 series or Radeon 5000 series for the GPU, About 4 GBs of RAM, ~500GB of hard drive space, a 500 Watt or so Power Supply, good DVD burner, Raidmax cases are pretty good, and for the motherboard, just pick something that matches the rest of your choices.

What is the best gaming computer under $500 dollars?
Q. I am looking for a computer that I can play games on, run editing software such as Adobe premiere, Adobe after effects, and twixtor. Also I want to be able to run games smoothly such as startcraft 2, Minecraft, and WoW. I was looking at the Asus CM1745-US007S but I don't know how good AMD processors are for what I want.

A. For under $500 dollars, you are automatically looking at amd processors or a cheap i3 processor from intel. Amd processors get the job done, but people prefer intel more because it's faster.
Since this is such a tight budget, i recommend building a computer yourself compared to places that sell computers, like Bestbuy are no good. All of their computers in the hundreds price are mainly for browsing and storage.

How good is the compaq presario sr5710f?

Q. I am looking for something under 500 dollars and this one caught my eye. Is it a decent computer for gaming, etc.?

A. Current Dell deals,

http://www.techbargains.com/dellcoupons.cfm

For example, one current sale is a Dell Vostro 220, with an E7500 CPU (Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz) and 22" LCD monitor for $409,

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&kc=&oc=brcwa1p&dgc=BF&cid=27740&lid=1204709&acd=10689810-227502-A11A0C173848E1A01173691A0

The Vostro 220 comes with a smallish 300W power supply (with only 18A on a single +12V rail), but I suspect this low powered version 9600GT would still run. You would just have to try it, and see how stable it is. (If it's not 100% stable, you would need to upgrade the power supply as well, for about $50 more.)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130485

Considering the price range, an E7500 CPU and 9600GT video card would run games quite well.

What are the attributes of a good computer?

Q. I plan on purchasing a computer soon.I was hoping someone could give me some good things that a computer would have.(Like the amount of GB's,the ram,the type of processor,etc...)I was hoping for something under 500 dollars. I appreciate music, typing in different languages and playing alot of games.I also want something that will last a while. Thank you for all the suggestions!

A. If your going for under 500, good luck. I'd recommend a 8800gt (150-225) for your vc, at least 4g of ram, and at least a AMD Athlonx2 6000+ processor. This might already be going over 500. But if you want something to last for awhile, you will have to go over 500 since what i said goes over andd oesn't leave much for the MoBo, case, drives, etc..
