Looking For a cheap Fast Gaming computer?

Q. Well im not really into computer specs and alla that, i want to play WoW on this computer, and all those good games (: my budget is $400-$600, im 15 and thats all i got for my christmass money ! :[
So if you can help me out, Sending me a link to a fast cheap gaming computer then, thank you :)

A. Do you already have a monitor? Most gaming computers are sold as "not including monitor", so that's one way you can save some $s

Gaming computers are in the top two categories for expensive hardware (video editing is the other), so "Fast" and "cheap" are kind of tough to combine.

The main difference between gaming computers and mainstream computers is the video card. You need a separate, fairly high powered video card (ATI Radeon 4650/nVidia Geforce 9800 GT/GeForce 250 or better) and enough of a powersupply to drive it for good graphics. Don't buy a cheap system with integrated graphics, or you'll almost always have to upgrade BOTH the video card AND power supply to make it into a gaming system.

For the upper end of your price range, you can get a system that will play WoW pretty awesomely and any of the current games (some at mid to low settings). Spec out something with:
CPU: Dual Core (AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual-Core CPU )
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
Power Supply: 450W (minimum)
Video card: (Radeon 4670 1GB)
At http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Configurators.aspx?mid=182 with the above specs will come up to $518, +shipping.

how to store my computer game on my hard drive?
Q. I want to store my computer game on my hard drive. So what I did is I copied all of the CD files to my hard drive hoping it would run from that. Then I envoked it and it just said to insert the disk v_v. Do you guys know of a way to store it on my hard drive and for my computer to read it like a regular CD

A. Some computer games, in order to prevent piracy, deliberately check for a particular CD to be in the CD drive. If that Cd is not there the game will not run. If your game has that kind of feature, you can't fool it without actually modifying the game program. That is hacking and quite difficult, let alone bordering on illegal.

Sometimes the computer game is simply thinking that the files are on a CD. In that case you find the shortcut of the game and right click. When properties dialog box comes up, look for a field labeled 'Start In'. You will see that it uses the drive letter of the CD drive. Change that drive letter to your hard drive and give the full path of where you have stored the content. Then upon double clicking this shortcut, it will look on the hard drive instead of a CD.

Help! Husband and son addicted to computer game!?

Q. My husband and 12-year-old son are completely addicted to an online computer game. They play it from the moment they get home until well past my son's bedtime - literally 4-5 hours a night, and much longer on weekends. The only thing they'll stop playing for is if my son has baseball or soccer. This game has totally consumed their lives.

Now, my son is doing fine in school, is in great physical shape, and has tons of friends (who also play this stupid game, although not nearly as much). But I still feel this is very unhealthy! But my husband insists there's nothing wrong with it - it's their way of relaxing, bonding and spending "quality time" together. And he points out that he spends a lot more time with our son than most fathers do - which is probably true.

My argument is: wouldn't it be better to spend some of that "quality time" doing something else? Going fishing, building a doghouse, making model airplanes? Even some good old-fashioned TV watching?? But my husband counters with: how is any of that better? What's it matter what we're doing, as long as we're together having fun?

I don't know how to reply to that! Does he have a point? Is it really okay to spend 10 hours straight on a Saturday playing a computer game? I just can't see how that's healthy - but I can't come up with anything else to prove my point!

HELP!!

A. Some computer games are extremely addicting and can seriously ruin peoples lives if not taken care of. Some games even clearly warn you about possible addiction on the back. Let me tell you a little about my personal experiences with games like this.

It all started four years ago when i bought a game called World of Warcraft. The most addicting game that exists. There are millions of people around the world that play this famouse game and get addicted to it and sad to say i was one of them. Me and my friends would play this game every singal possible moment we could. Though i wasnt as addicted as my friends i still would play the game well over ten hours if i could. My friends would skip school to stay home and play the game, they would stay up days playing it for days! After 4 years i finally realised that what i was doing was wrong and if i keept going on like that i would seriously mess up my life. I found the power to quit that stupid game after 4 years! Sadly i cant say the same for a lot of my close friends who to this day are still addicted. They hardly ever leave their house! It is really hard to get over the addiction if your really get into it, it has been described worst than drugs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/3338422/Video-game-addiction-'like-being-on-drugs'.html

This has not just happend to myself and my friends, this game has been on the news sevral times for causing deaths and putting people in the ER. Some kid stayed awake for 3 days playing the game without eating or anything and ended up in ER because of a computer game!

Just visit these links to see the true storys and what games like this can do to people.

What's a nice gaming computer?

Q. I'm wondering what's a nice gaming computer?

A. The best gaming computer has and always will be the one you build yourself. Even if you have no knowledge in computers it can be a good learning experience and you can get a machine far superior for cheaper than outright buying a "gaming pc".

Then you have to ask yourself the question, what kind of gaming is it that you want to do. The most crucial component in your gaming machine will be the video card and how beefed up the card will have to be will depend on the quality of your graphics and the intensity of your games. Take Tomb Raider for example you have various settings from low all the way to Ultra where the strands of hair on the main character are all independent for realistic effect.

Research on the components needed for your desired spec gaming machine can easily be found through google and various forums. Parts can be purchased through sites such as newegg.

Breaking this down further, regardless of the quality or intensity of the gaming you generally will never need anything more powerful than an i5 processor, with exception to the 6 core i7 i5 and 7 differ mostly in hyperthreading ability and caching ability. AMD can be good but performance will always be better with intel, don't let the clock rate full you.

What would you like to see change in computer gaming systems?

Q. I recently read that the computer gaming industry is running at 30 or 40% of what they could really be. What would change this? What needs to be done to increase this percentage?

A. personally i would like to see games utilize the dual core technology more, i recently bought Doom but found it only using half of the dual core (one core only) and as its a new comp i built i am really looking for a game to test its limits.

better programmers, and people emplyed only to come up with new game ideas would certainly be a help. also more 3d games and extreme interactive technology if you can find technology to help you pet your cat if your in asia and your cats in ontario why cant you wear a suit that when you get shot vibrates in that spot?

Is a usb computer gaming headset compatible with the usb on a PS3?
Q. I am a bout to purchase a computer gaming usb compatible headset for my PS3, and I am wondering if it will work. I know there are usb headsets designed for the PS3, but this one has an audio to usb converter with it. Will it work?

A. ANY usb headset can be used on the PS3. I used my old one until I got bluetooth. You just need to make sure you activate it on the PS3 options.

Ideas for a computer gaming powerpoint presentation?
Q. I'm doing a powerpoint presentation that has to be 15 slides all about computer gaming. I've only gotten 8 slides so far and I've basically covered the types of PC games (RPG, FPS, MMO, MMORPG), the parts of a gaming computer and the peripherals and then lots of tips to speed up your computer so it's good for gaming.

Any other ideas for things I can put in this? I still need 7 slides :\ Any ideas at all? All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A. examples of the game categories, lots of cool pictures, maybe a youtube clip showing some game footage or something, just expand your ideas.
