What high school classes should a kid take to get accepted into college for computer game design?

Q. My son is a sophomore in high school and wants to become a computer game designer. what kind of classes should he take while still in high school to make have the best chance at getting accepted into college for computer game design? Also, should he be doing anything extra-curricular?

A. The best course of action in high school is always to take the most challenging classes you can that your school offers. It's very important to have a base of core classes. Encourage him to take electives that he's interested in and relate to computer science and/or graphic design.
Also, extracurriculars are very important. Your son should try to develop well-rounded interests. Volunteer work is very important. As far as computer game designing goes, try to get him into some kind of computer club at his school or in your community. This will expose him to what he'll be studying in college.

Q. About 7 years ago I used to play a computer game on a Mac in school, which contained little creatures (I think they were blue or purple, but I'm not sure), which you had to get home by working out logical problems (like getting the creatures over a bridge)... What is wrong with my computers connection to the internet?

Q. I'm living in a college dorm right now and me and my roommate are both heavily into computer gaming. I understand school connections are a little limited but when he plays or browses the internet his connection is almost always completely fine. On the other hand, when i play an online game it takes an excessively long time to load maps, and my ping almost always constantly jumps to 300+ all the way up to 990 ping, and if it goes down it goes right back up shortly. Once in a while this wont happen and ill range from 70 to 130 ping in a game which is playable, but most of the time that is not the case. Ive come to the conclusion that it has to be something about my computer because my roommate doesnt experience anything like what i do. any help is appreciate, thank you in advance.

A. most likely, his computer is more power full. If you two had the exact same laptops, with the exact same hardware, running the exact same software, you should notice no difference.
