how much would it cost to build from scratch a computer that would be used for the internet and possibly games?

Q. i want a computer that can handle windows 7 x64 bit with around 500GB for hard drive or higher,if possible, with a large amount of RAM(i have no idea what RAM is measured by or what a realistic amount would be)a high quality motherboard and graphics card,a fast processor, and the best of everything basically.any price ranges?
i want the VERY BEST.i do not care if costs thousands.tell me what the best is and what it will cost.

A. It depends on what games you want to play.
Any computer, new or old, in the past 10 years can use the internet without a hitch.
A computer capable of using the internet and playing casual online games will cost very little and is better bought from manufacturers such as Dell or Hp as they offer better prices for that price range. Building one of those will take maybe 300-400 dollars, similiar to the price of a branded computer. They will easily be aable to use the internet and play casual games such as world of warcraft and minecraft. (Would reccomend 3-4 gigs of ram, a low or mid end intel i3 or pentium processor, a decent size HDD, a intel-compatible motherboard, a sub-500 watt psu, and a cheap but sturdy case.)

On the other hand, high end gaming computers designed to max out graphically intensive games such as Crysis2 and BF3 are more cost effective built, and will cost anywhere between 600 and 1000 dollars for budget builds. A pretty cost-effective build could be:
Case:$50
Motherboard$100
Processor:$120 (i3 2120 is the best deal on the market right now)
8Gb Ram:$40
Hard drive(500gb):$80
Cd drive:$20
Videocard:$170(I would highly reccomend a Gtx560 ti, unless a higher end card is in your price range)
Power supply unit:$50
Windows 7:$100
For a total of $730, not including shipping. This built is guaranteed to max out any game in the market, guaranteed.

Prices and reccomended parts are listed for both purposes. I would reccomend buying from Newegg unless you live in California like me, in which case I would reccomend tigerdirect because they dont charge sales tax in that state.

Will installing games on my computer slow down my internet?
Q. I downloaded a game called maple story from the internet.
I also I bought the Sim 2 and installed it as well.
I have another game i want to install called
Need for Speed Carbon. <--- (is it any good)
But i want to know if all these games
will slow my internet speed.
Or does that have to do with the modem?

A. 1. Maple story Is MMORG game meaning dat u play with other user over Internet. So ofcourse while game is running Its gonna use Internet brandwith slowing down net. But while u r not running game It wont hurt ur speed

2. Sims will have no effect on speed of net. but might Increase Window startup timing.
(2 All moron's who ans dis ques). No game reduces speed of computer. Just some increases time taken by ur window 2 boot)

3.NFS carbon is boring. Try Need for speed Most Wanted. 100 times better.

4.Lol. Modem has NO role in deciding ur net speed. It just code and decode information packets. What mainly deiced ur speed is brandwith alloted by us ISP

Is imagination still the best form of entertainment?
Q. With today’s technologies and games, do you think imagination is still the best form of entertainment? Studies have actually shown, and I am sure from your own observation you can see that just about everyone watches TV seemingly endlessly.

As well, with things like the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 (and the other previous video game systems), PSP, Nintendo DS, computer games, internet games, and a thousand other forms of gamming people really do not have to rely on just “pretending” or “make-believe” anymore. However, at the same time, things like Barbie and Hot Wheels are still among the top sellers. So, has imagination lost its rank or do you think it still reigns supreme?

A. The most entertaining things, are still, generally the most imaginative ones. The most popular movies, Star Wars, Shrek, Lord of the Rings etc, are about stories that took a tremendous amount of imagination to create. The most popular video games are similar in that regard, they are the ones with the most intricate worlds, and therefore the most imaginative.

Having said that, by entertaining ourselves with someone else's imagination, we lose much of our own, and that's why originality in these arenas is actually on the decline.

Imagination is the BEST form of entertainment, but it may be losing its grip on the most utilized form.

What is the best of the best brand of Laptop computers to buy?
Q. I'm looking to buy a new computer, but I don't know what the best brand would be to get? I basicly just use my computer for the internet, games, and Itunes. What do you recommend???:)

A. There is no "best brand". You start at price and decide features that are most important to you.
In general, Samsung, Apple, Lenovo Ideapads and Thinkpads, Asus, MSI, Sony and Toshiba that is not Satellite are in the upper half.

HP-Compaq, HP-Pavilion, Dell Inspiron, Acer-Gateway, Lenovo Essentials, Toshiba Satellite are all in the bottom half, and better grades of HP and Dell could be OK.

Gaming needs GPU Graphics power and which games determine how much.
A higher resolution screen is a big plus.
A better CPU helps.
Lighter in weight is often good.
This is CPU+Graphics

Brand is only one factor. Apple tends to cost a lot of money for the cpu, graphics, ram, and is not software compatible to most gaming without adding Windows. Generally, the price is 50% higher on similar specifications and size/weight, and more than double price if you allow a thicker and heavier system.

There is no exact consistency by brand.

If you are non-USA, brands by country change for value in the purchase.
A Lenovo Y510p in the USA is a great value at +/- $800.

Those that look at brand first, usually need a lot of help to know good from bad. It is very common in China and India to trust by brand first because technology among people and higher quality items purchasing is very new to most people there. Anyone following trends or any single recommendation without documentation and checking up is not a good way to buy.

What are some fun math games for 2nd graders?

Q. I'm teaching a 2nd grade math class and I'm wondering if anyone has any easy and fun math games that the children might enjoy which would also help their math skills? I'm looking for anything I can do in the classroom with them - not computer or internet games.

A detailed explanation or links to resources would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

A. Turn any lesson into a game simply by grouping students and have them compete against each other. Ask a math question and the first to respond gets the point.

Another game students like is math bingo.

what should I write for the ending of my speech?
Q. As time has passed during the centuries there has now come a time when children have started becoming more inclined towards gaming then anything else. You may think game addiction is not a serious problem, but it can destroy peoples lives. This addiction has lead to loss of jobs, relationships and has even broken apart families. When you and your friends were playing video games and is always wanting to play the newest games. Have you ever thought of this as a disease or addiction?
There are many symptoms when you may or may not have a game addiction. For example Lack of control, If you were unable to control the time you have on a computer or any Gaming device and spends 15 to 20 minutes, but always extends the time to several hours. Negative Impact on Other areas of life, If you spend a large amount of time on a computer or video game console and you are constantly spending the amount of time each day. You will begin to not be aware of your distant between your family and friends, Homework may go unfinished, causing grades to slip. In other serious situation, some teens, for example may choose video games rather then taking a shower. The most important signs you see from a friend, family member, or yourself with a game addiction is if when you start playing a game and are happy most of the time, until you are no longer allowed to play and eventually have to stop, you begin to be angry or upset. If you ever kept thinking about going online or playing when you are suppose to be focusing on more important situations. Or when you spend more time on your computer or video game controller, then spending time with your friends. These warning signs will provide your parents, friends, and other family member to look for if they are concerned about someones use of video, computer, or internet games.
As technology moves forward, so does graphic violent nature of the video games. Violent games are most addictive and cause the most issues, then any other kind of game. This is one of the biggest problems because out of the most school shootings in recent years have been most gamers causing the shooting, There choice of games were dark and violent. In 1980 they released sony PlayStation, and thats when violence became an issue and threw the years while the graphics became lifelike, the more violent games, the more violent behavior. In order to win in violent games you have to be the aggressor. So rather then watching the violence on television, its like committing the violent acts. Most researchers acknowledge that this kind of active participation affects a person's thought patterns, at least in the short term. Another factor that concerns both researchers and parents is that violence in video games is often rewarded rather than punished. In army and sniper games, players "level up" based in part on how many people they kill. If played frequently enough, games like this can skew a young person's perception of violence and its consequences. Parents should realize the amount of time their children spend gaming and watch closely for any negative effects.
Video games are designed to be addictive, most designers make the game challenging, which allow players to achieve small accomplishments to keep playing. Its like gambling which will allow players to have small "wins that keep them playing. There are several hooks that make a game addictive. For example High scores, whether trying out the latest edition of Grand Theft Auto or havent played a game since Pac-Man, The high score is the most popular hook. When trying to beat the high score it can keep a player playing for hours. Beating the game is another hook, this makes most people play for days. Role playing, allow players to do more than just play they get to actually create the characters in the game and go on an adventure that's somewhat unique to that character. Consequently, there's an emotional attachment to the character, and the story makes it much harder to stop playing. Most people like to spend there spare time playing games, while others there friends, family, school, and even personal hygiene are neglected as nearly every spare moment is spent playing games.

so yeah thats my speech, what do I write for the ending?

A. I really don't know all i know is that you hit some key problems but some were kinda off, yeah some teens cant control there play time but most can, some do spend hours on end playing but most don't and yes games like grand theft auto 4 have drug, sex, and violence but its the parents job to control that not society, and when you say that people are rewarded by killing to level up, well people aren't as obsessed about leveling up as you think they are. the awards aren't like the nicotine tobacco companies add to "stay hooked". and if you think that online gaming all about "killing the enemy" its not.i take it more as a kinda paintball game mentality. this is what i say after every game"good game yall" of course it doesn't always go like that but thats how the real players should do it. honestly the foul language is probably the biggest problem and thats why online games should be for kids about 13 and over. and the last thing, the school shootings that have been happening is mostly because teens are able to get there hands on a gun that is the parents fault, you could say that video games teach kids/teens how to accurately handle and shoot a gun but really, thats not the problem they could find that out without video games (most don't know even with video games), the problem is that they could get ahold of one.

if you writhing this for a school project or something then go ahead get a 100 but if this is for a meeting or something i really don't think its an accurate display of reality.
