Computer specs question/game?

Q. I'm REALLY new to the whole PC gaming scene, but I was wondering if this computer has the specs to run a game like Arma2/Dayz or possible Arma3?
ASUS K55N-DS81.
I has an AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M, 1.9GHz processor, and 4GB of DDR3 memory.
500GB HDD,and and AMD Radeon HD 7640G card.
It has windows 8 and 4GB of memory but it can support 8.
I "think" that covers the specs, but i could be wrong, like I said I know next to nothing about PC's.
I don't really care about high graphics so medium-low is fine with me. thx.

A. Let me first give a touch of background.
Laptops in the standard 15.6" size range from about $260 to almost $3000. There are certainly a lot of really low performing very cheap ones around with C and E series AMD cpus that belong in a netbook, and the Celerons and Pentiums of Intel with a workable cpu, but graphics that does not go with any games unless you consider Minecraft and League of Legends on low-medium to be gaming.

Specific to that one - The A8-4500M has been around about a year, introduced in May 2012.
The 7640G, like all G graphics, is a separate graphics processor co-packaged with the CPU and not a "graphics card" any more than Intel Integrated where it is part of a single chip. The Asus and a Samsung version (I bought the Samsung) is OK other than running a bit hot in most uses. They are two decent brands along with Lenovo Ideapads and Thinkpads, Sony.
Group Acer-gateway, Lenovo Essentials, HP Pavilion, Dell Inspiron, Toshiba Satellite, HP-Compaq, as all in the cheaper construction quality, and PCWorld, Rescuecom, Squaretrade studies do generally agree. That laptop, like mine, was $380 to $420, and now is only as leftovers.

For the exact answer now, the graphics is gaming determines the play unless bottlenecked by a low end CPU or insufficient DRAM.
GPU to gaming:

CPU ranks
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html
The graphics, at rank 222 is above HD 4000 of Intel, but not by a lot.
For a better picture of non-listed games,
CAN I RUN of Game-debate says:
Arma 3 should not run even on lowest settings
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1855&game=ArmA+III&p_make=AMD&p_deriv=APU+A8-4500M+Quad+Core&gc_make=ATI&gc_deriv=Radeon+HD+7640G&ram=4&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements
Arma II and DayZ are playable low-medium, probably close to 30 frames per second
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=516&game=ArmA+II&p_make=AMD&p_deriv=APU+A8-4500M+Quad+Core&gc_make=ATI&gc_deriv=Radeon+HD+7640G&ram=4&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements

This ACer is about the starting point of Arma3 at $530
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1855&game=ArmA+III&p_make=AMD&p_deriv=APU+A8-5550M+Quad-Core&gc_make=ATI&gc_deriv=Radeon+HD+8750M+2GB+DDR3&ram=4&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements
Happens to also be enough for maximum settings to its display on DayZ Arma2
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=4843&game=DayZ&p_make=AMD&p_deriv=APU+A8-5550M+Quad-Core&gc_make=ATI&gc_deriv=Radeon+HD+8750M+2GB+DDR3&ram=4&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements
Can't say about overheating or build quality, but that is the starting price to get what you are thinking you want. It is definitely a bargain for the price it costs. Ranking:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M
AMD Radeon HD 7730M
AMD Radeon HD 8750M << The Acer
NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M
Just a couple of years ago, a laptop at this performance was about $650 to $700 typically.

A Desktop PC with A8-5500 and HD 7560D does run medium at 30 frames per second on DAYZ ARMA2. That does not mean an HD 7640G will also. You can't SWAG without data.

Where to buy a gaming computer?

Q. I want to buy a Gaming PC but i don't know where to get it and i wont to know trusted places because some of them don't look professional. The reason i don't wont to build one is because i don't wont to mess it up and be out the money and still not have a PC. ( Not Alien ware because they are a little over priced)

A. A gaming computer is something you build, you don't just buy one from a store, really.
It is not at all hard to build a gaming PC, even a 13 year old kid can do it, and I've seen lots of them here that did just that.
Very detailed instructions are available if you Google on the subject, even Newegg.com has video tutorials on building a PC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw&feature=player_embedded
Buy all your parts from Newegg.com or Amazon.com, they are the cheapest

All branded computers sold in stores (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony, Acer, Asus and such) are not 100% fitted for gaming, as the manufacturers will always try to use the cheapest hardware they can find and sell for the highest profit possible.
Even if one such computer has a good processor and graphics card, it will most likely have a cheap motherboard, with an older model chipset. Also all branded computers are setup by the manufacturers not to allow for any overclocking, as it will mean a loss for them to fix or replace damaged hardware while in warranty.

Here is a complete list of components to buy for a very good to best gaming PC build:

All prices are in $USD, from newegg.com, and current as of April 2012.

PROCESSOR: Best budget processor: Intel Core i3-2130 ($150) - best budget 4 threads, dual core processor.
Best value and performance processor: Intel Core i5-2500K quad core ($220)
Best in class, price accessible processor: Intel Core i7-2600K quad core ($320)
CPU COOLER: Get a good after market processor heat sink and 120mm fan. The stock Intel CPU cooler is crap.
Either a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or Sunbeam Twister 120 - Cost $35 to $50
Or you can get a water cooler, like Corsair H60 or H80 ($70 or $105)
MOTHERBOARD: For any processor above, get a motherboard with socket LGA1155 and chipset Z68, at least this $120 GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128495
MEMORY (RAM): Both the processor and the motherboard feature fast dual channel memory, so only buy RAM in identical pairs, to enable dual channel memory operation.
Get an 8GB dual kit (two x 4GB) DDR3 1600 G.Skill Ripjaws X Series or Corsair Vengeance ($50)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 (8GB two x 4GB)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 (8GB two x 4GB)
GRAPHICS CARD: at least a GeForce GTX460 Fermi or AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6790 (or better), choose any with a 2200 score or higher from this benchmark list:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
The best graphics card would be GeForce GTX680 or GTX580
HARD DRIVE (HDD): 1TB Seagate Barracuda or Samsung Spinpoint SATA III (6.0Gb/s) 7200rpm, 64MB Cache hard drive ($115)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840
PSU: A good power supply, 600 watts or bigger (depends on the graphics card you choose), 80 plus certified form Thermaltake, Enermax, Cooler Master, Antech, Corsair or OCZ.
PC CASE: Any PC Case (full or mid tower), with bottom mount for the power supply, either ATX or μATX (micro ATX) size.
I recommend either any of the Sentey Series (Sentey Extreme Division Arvina is what I got) or Cooler Master HAF ($60 to $150)
http://www.newegg.com/Store/Brand.aspx?Brand=13670&name=The-Sentey-at-Newegg&Tpk=Sentey
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=haf&x=0&y=0
OPTICAL DRIVE: any cheap $15 to $25 DVD multi writer drive
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM for your operating system ($100):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986

Cost: From $800 on up to over $1500, depending on processor, graphics card, power supply and case you choose.

A good, full HD 1080p (1920x1080), LED backlit 27inch monitor will cost you around $260 to over $300.
Any cheap USB mouse and keyboard for about $30 to $50, or spend more for expensive gaming style ones.

Good luck.

The only other viable solution would be to custom order a gaming PC from places like AVADirect, iBuyPower, CyberPowerPC and such. They will build a gaming PC with almost all specs of your choice but you will pay considerably more as if you build that yourself.
DO NOT buy Alienware, they are Dell crap and also way overpriced.

What the cheapest gaming computer u bought already built in 2011/2012?
Q.

A. As you're probably noticing anything specifically labeled as a gaming computer tends to have a ridiculous price tag attached to it. Systems like Dell's Alienware are often going to be double what a traditional computer costs. The cheapest gaming computer I bought already built is one where I picked a very cheap model and had the hardware hand selected to meet my needs. Nearly all companies give you the option to select a computer and upgrade the processor etc. Always remember that a fancy case does not make a great gaming computer. In fact much of the time people are really paying for more of the case and the name than the actual hardware. This is why building a computer or selecting the parts and having one constructed for you is quite a bit less expensive.

Your next best option if you don't want to spend the time consulting someone on what specs are the best to have is to just shop for one of the new Ultrabooks. This is a new genre of computers that Intel hatched that are portable but meet a very strict set of specs which are much more performance based. Computers like the Macbook Air fall in this category which can handle gaming online very well but still are priced at around a grand or less.

The final option you may want to consider is a refurbished computer. Many start to cringe when they hear the word refurbished but the thing is that nearly every major manufacturer now offers the same warranty as a new computer. The discounts can be pretty substantial and with a solid 1 to 3 year warranty you can't go wrong. Just ideally stick with one of the main outlets and not a fly by night company that isn't affiliated with the manufacturer. They generally don't have the latest testing and certification equipment as well as don't have the best warranties.

Can my ex girlfriend take back the comptuer she made for me after we break up?

Q. My ex gf made me a computer to play games with her in sept 2012, i got rid of my laptop so i could save money on the payments. We broke up and she wants to take it back. Can she legally?

A. If it was a gift, then no. If it was not a gift, then yes. If she built it so you could play games but didn't tell you it was a gift, there's a chance she could get it back through legal means.

How do you install a graphics card and power supply completely?
Q. I want to upgrade my current gaming computer (CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA880 Desktop) with a new graphics card, and a new power supply. I just want to know what graphics card/power supply to use, and also if there is more to it, then just plunging it into the PC. Do you have to install a software to go along with it?

A. Just plug the graphics card into a PCI slot, you will need to download drivers, drivers are free. Power supply needs some screws, which should come with it. Then you just have to hook up the power cords. I would reccommend a GTX 600 series or AMD 7000 series. I prefer Nvidia. For a power supply, I would reccommend a Rosewill Fortress 750 watts. If you want a video tutorial, look up "How to build a gaming pc 2012". It should be by Carey Holesman. I might have miss-spelled the last name.

Politicians and the media have blamed the Connecticut shooting on computer games; is anyone surprised?

Q. http://www.politico.com/story/2012/12/hill-eyes-video-game-use-by-shooter-85255.html?hp=l8

Well, that didn't take long.

What is it that makes computer games a culturally acceptable scapegoat for incidents of violence? As a gamer, I've never felt a computer game give me an urge to go out and murder some innocent children. In a game, I can shoot my friend's avatar (or he can shoot mine) and we can both laugh about it afterwards; in the sense that it's an in-game action, I regard it more akin to moving a piece on a chessboard, or hitting a ping-pong ball, than to murdering someone in real life.

How do other gamers feel about this? Do you think it does a disservice to the victims to throw the blame around carelessly? What steps can (or should) we take to distigmatize our hobby in the eyes of society, and to make sure the real issues are not clouded?

A. Funny how it's always blamed on something that the blamers aren't big on doing.

How do I make my computer faster?

Q. I want to play this PC game F1 2012 but my computer laggs way to much. My computer is fast on the internet, but why not the pc games?

I am in seventh grade, so please make the answer clear to me so I can understand it. It could help if you have a step by step answer!

A. If you want to play games on your pc you are going to need RAM and Processor Speed.

RAM is like the workbench for your computer, the more RAM you have the more it can handle.
A regular gaming PC has a minimum of 4 GB of RAM but more RAM can help the game run smoother.

Processor speed is the amount of information it can carry out in a second and is usually at least 2 GHz for a gaming PC.

Memory for the game is important too, make sure you have enough space on the disk for the game.

Hope I helped. :)

What are the best parts for a gaming computer?
Q. I'm looking for the best parts for a gaming computer so that I can get all of it off of ebuyer and build my computer but i'm not too sure what are the best things to have. I also want to record videos and put them on Youtube and eventually become a partner.. So what are the best parts for the computer and what is the best recording software?

A. Tom's hardware provides very good comparison guides for most components and even low, mid and high end build guides that you could take in total.
