jking, here's how:

"Remove a Yahoo Game File From Your Computer

hi have successfully downloaded games from yahoo but when I go to open it freezes my computer help!!?
Q. The games downloaded alright and then when I double click on them it shows the busy icon on my mouse and then the computer hangs, freezes up and I have to manually switch off. Have updated java, tried switching off the virus protection etc. Can use shockwave fine... anyone know what to do!?
thanks for advice so far have tried virus checks all well... I paid for one of the games.... is it something to do with my fire wall? It is a wireless laptop running windows XP

A. I might be too late, but for the games you haven't bought yet, try downloading them again from a site with better support than Yahoo. Two good ones are Game Socks (talking socks) and Big Fish Games (the big green fish).

They have all the same games as Yahoo.

http://www.gamesocks.com
http://www.bigfishgames.com/index.html?afcode=afd64f20f3f8

Game Socks lets you play games you buy on all your computers and reinstall them.

As for the game you bought, email Yahoo support and hope for an answer because I hate when I buy a game and I can't play it.

yahoo games?

Q. I have enjoyed playing yahoo game in the past. Recently my computer had to have window xp installed and now I can't play yahoo games on line. Does anyone know why I can't get the applet to load?

A. You probably need to update Java

To play games on Yahoo with no hassles from your PC please read on, do one thing at a time till you get in, or do them all for hassle free games on yahoo.....
Make sure you pop up blocker is OFF (top of your browser click tools, a pull down menu will appear with your pop up blocker)and once in the lounge click "options" bottom left of lounge and choose the small tables option

If problems still persist read on...........
Yahoo will not tell you when they update, they just do it. So when games/chat have a problem you can bank on it that Yahoo have updated..and Yahoo update often...When yahoo updates you must update as well

there are 2 choices of Java you can use.......Sun Java and Virtual Machine....some prefer the sun java
but the Virtual Machine works better for games and you do need Java to play in games, ( without it some won't get in and if some do get in , they won't stay in games)

Update............. -- If you cant log into chat/games it is because Yahoo's browser has issues with SUN java as default, the coffee cup sux... The Virtual Machine Java works better with yahoo. Yahoo is Java dependant.
This is also the reason for the games applets not loading and some web cam issues. The easiest fix is to update , make sure all your windows are updated
Click this link http://www.freecreed.com/pm.html ... ...
and choose what is your best option.

N.B. It is unwise to use Sun Java and Virtual machine together, this may cause conflicts
After December 31st 2007 Virtual Machine will not be supported by Microsoft, there will be no enhancements. Which means VM will still work, but will not be updated
http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/

and clean up after yourself> http://www.freecreed.com/speed.html

read on if you still cannot get in

Right click your explorer icon on your desktop......click properties..then the general tab (top left)..in the temporary internet files section (middle), choose view objects...see all Yahoo downloaded programme files?
if any are damaged, right click them and delete them..they reload each time you logg into games..right click them all and choose update, or bite the bullit and delete it.......it reloads each time you logg in

yahoo games site freezes my computer?
Q. the second i log into yahoo games, the main page stops responding and freezes my computer. not game specific because i don't get that far. this is the only site that does this. any ideas?
Well, first of all thank you for all of your input. I have tried all those things. It's not a pop up issue. The very second I get to the games home page from the main yahoo pages it says not responding at the top of the page and it freezes. I am able to go in through yahoo messenger and play all the games now, just not through the main games home page. It does work on another computer, just not the one I usually use. It stopped working 2 days ago. Frustrating beyond belief!! I just don't understand what the issue is. At least I'm able to get in through yahoo messenger....

A. Lets start with this, games use java to run.
update java
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual...

Now do this;
Yahoo games open with a pop up. Turning them off like Yahoo mistakenly says doesn't work very well! Most toolbars like yahoo and Internet explorer have pop up blockers! When you try getting in lounge or room and it doesn't work. click on pop up blocker on yahoo tool bar. On the drop down list click on Always allow tab it will say recent pop ups blocked. high light Yahoo.com then click allow. On google blocker click on blocker and it will allow site.
. IE browser settings to allow pop ups Right click on Tools, internet options, privacy tab, cookie over ride. Type in www.Yahoo.com, allow then ok. If you see a blue gear with tools beside it, Click on it and a drop down list will have pop up blocker listed.Type in www.yahoo.com, click allow.
This is the proper way to use the pop up blocker. I have never had a problem or had to hold any keys down to get in.

Next to keep in in games longer;

The most common reason for your problem is an easy fix!
Yahoo games use virtual memory to play. Running low or out of virtual memory causes game to freeze. Increasing your virtual memory helps with the freezing/getting booted problem. You can increase your memory by going to start button, settings, control panel, system, advance tab, performance, advance tab, virtual memory, change it, make it 1200 kb or higher, In both boxes, click apply then ok .

Internet explorer works best with yahoo games. If you are trying to use Foxfire make sure Sun java is checked as default java as it will not work with msn virtual machine java
Go to tools, internet options, advance tab. Scroll down to Sun java check it and java scrolling and JIT.

If you get an error saying you need flashplayer go here and download flash #9

Are there any safe sites to play virtual family game for free or reasonable price?

Q. I really like playing the Virtual Family and Virtual villagers computer game. I have done the free 60 minute download on Yahoo. But I don't have credit cards so I can't get the game myself. I know there are sites where I can play it, but I don't know if they carry viruses are not.

A. Pogo.com

What is the best yet affordable computer on the market?
Q. I am going to buy a new computer for myself for Christmas and want to know from the people of Yahoo! what I should get. I play a lot of computer games, I think that's all I really need to include on what I'm going to use my computer for. Are Vistas any good? Better than XP's? I have no idea. Majority will be victorious so tell your friends. :P

A. Dell for support, E machines / Gateway for price, all pc's you get will come with windows 7 installed that is the newest operating system from Microsoft, games will require a decent video card with 256mgs of ram
