What pieces should i get for building a gaming computer, and where can i get these pieces?

Q. I am interested in building a computer for playing games to replace my x box. I am not a hardcore gamer, so i don't need top tier parts, just parts strong enough to run the games i like to play efficiently. The kinds of games i plan on playing on this computer would be steam games (l4d2, TF2) League of legends, Guild wars 2, skyrim, call of duty, and assassins creed. Unfortunately, my current laptop is not strong enough to run games like call of duty without lagging baddly. Can anyone help with the parts i should get and where i should get them? I would like for it to have an hdmi output so i can plug it into my tv, and possibly 4 usb port? Thank you in advance.

would this be a good kit to start off with or is there a kit that is cheaper that still fits the things i need. also, if i were to get this kit, what pieces will i still need? (this is the first time im building my own computer)

A. Umm yess.. check tigerdirect.com for DIY ( do-it-yourself) kits. and buy any card above Radeon 6670 or GeForce 5xxTi and above for playing those games you want. Make sure you have 8Gb or more and DO NOT buy any kits with Althonx3 or X4 640/530 CPU.... They suck and will bottle neck your computer terribly. Also you will need to buy the necessary parts that are missing( usually case, Graphic cards, Hard Drive, Operating System, DVD/CD/Optical Drives.) and a aftermarket CPU fan/cooler.

What parts should I get for a good gaming computer?
Q. I really love playing videogames on the computer. Especially, StarCraft 2 and League of Legends. The thing is, I have absolutely zero clue about what parts I should get from what company or anything of that sort. A list for products and parts that you prefer for those types of games would be appreciated. Thanks!

A. a good video card is key for a good rig, as is a good processor and plenty of RAM.
ATI and NVIDIA make the best graphics cards, and have something that can fit most budgets (have to make sure you get a compatible motherboard though).
AMD and Intel make good processors, though I am personally partial to intel. i7 quad and hex cores are great for gaming, and there are plenty of AMDs that are great as well. You'll also want plenty of RAM. I'd say a minimum of 4-6gb of at least 1600MhZ RAM, and preferable at least 8-10gb.
other than that, case, cooling, motherboard, fast hard drive (to quickly access game data) and optical drives and accessory drives are all you need. sites like ibuypower.com will allow you to configure a custom gaming computer which you can then order.
