How will removing old programs improve my computer's performance?

Q. Please be specific. I don't know a lot about computers when it comes down to the nitty gritty and I am trying to improve my computer's performance for games as much as possible before I end up buying a whole new computer. Will I get memory back? Will it help speed things up?

A. Generally it will not.

Old programmes (ones you do not use) take up disc space. Not memory. If you do not run it, it never get loaded into memory. Freeing up disc space is nice though. And deep searches (of the disc drives) will of course be quicker.

You do not mention which OS you have. I assume you are running Linux.

There is no need to "de-frag" a disc in Linux, because the file systems do not fragment.

How can I improve Gaming Graphics speed on a laptop?
Q. Hi, I'm a YouTuber and I am running off a laptop. The lag on games really gets on my nerves and I was wondering if there is a way to improve gaming graphics (3D business and gaming graphics performance) on a laptop, and do NOT suggest that I buy a new computer because gaming desktops are out of my price range. Windows Experience Index says my Gaming Graphics are rated 3.3 and Graphics in general are rated 2.2. Thanks in advance, HmanWP.

A. Nothing you can do, since video cards on laptops are part of the motherboard and can not be replaced, and there are no slots to fit a second card to.
