What benefits does playing video/computer games have in real life?

Q. I have a speech in which I talk about the benefits of videogames for 4 minutes. before you assume that I am expecting u to do my speech for me, let me just say that I have already done the speech. I just feel like i dont have enough benefits and i would like some creative ideas. if you could also state sources that wud be nice too

A. Research has shown that playing video games increases hand-eye coordination and improved general reaction time. Some studies suggest that avid gamers can recall specific patterns better than non-gamers, since many video games require problem-solving and decoding.

I once conducted a study in one of my Psychology course in which I tested the item-finding capability of gamers versus non-gamers. Even though each participant never played the video game in question, gamers found a specific item in the level significantly faster than non-gamers. Some of this could be attributed to the fact that gamers are better accustomed to "sniffing out" items and objects in a virtual world.

Video games have also been used in chemotherapy regimens, as the cancer patient's focus on the game reduces (or eliminates, in some cases) the nausea caused by the treatment.

This is a small glimpse into my past research, though it is probably more than enough to flesh out your four minutes.

Good Luck!

I need help building a non-gaming computer.?
Q. I do alot of stuff on the internet, mutiple(tons) of programs up at once, downloading and watching/listening to music and videos, dvd burning, photo editing and 2d CAD modeling. In the future I may upgrade to 3D modeling program.

What things that are top technology and needed by gamers would be useless for me. I really want to get the cost down. But i can't stand waiting for my comp to catch up. my current comp has 1.86 processor, 2 stick of 512 ram, stock video card...................
With my current Components it looks like about $850-900, but i think its over kill.
XFX GeForce 680i LT SLI or Intel DG31PR Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz Processor

XFX GeForce 8600 GTS Video Card - 256MB DDR3, SLI Ready, PCI Express, Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card(this may be overkill for what I need??)

4096MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)

160+GB Hard Drive - 7200

600-800watt power suply
$40-60 case
I already have 2 dvd burners

Also what is the cheapest and best operating system to run and where to get it?

A. You and gamers have more in common than you realize; both are resource intensive.

The secret of a reasonably fast box is through-put. That is, from the CPU to the screen and speakers you need a fast and constant speed. You don't necessarily need the latest or fasted, jut that all you components match so there is no bottleneck.

I suggest you start with a gamers box and modify it to what you need.

You'll need:
A solid power supply - 500 watts.
A 2 core CPU <3.0>
2 GB RAM 800/600
A graphic card with al least 320 on board VRAM express
A 300 GB HD, 7500
Sound card and speakers of good quality.

You may like to investigate the various Linux multimedia OS, there are several and since they are free using one will allow you to spend more money on hardware.
