Computer for gaming.?

Q. I have about 1200$. What type of computer can I get that will run new games like BIOSHOCK or Orange Box smoothly? I know I want at least 3 gigs of ram, or else enough money to spare to upgrade it.
Thanks

A. I think $1200 is not enough. I recommend you build your own.

A. Hello, your friend is right about newegg if you live in the US. I assume you do even without checking the zip code.

First question, do you need a case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. ? Everything except dvd rom?

I would get these and I'll explain why below (Without the above):

1. Quad-core AMD, crossfirex ATI, AMD chipset, this is a spider platfrom motherboard =

Right now at $$1,224.94 without tax or shipping. This includes two hard drives. Now some people will tell you otherwise. I have been building computers for 15 years.

I choose quad-core amd, ati video, and amd chipset board so you can get the spider platform. All stuff is faster together. Also the motherboard supports crossfireX which you can always get another ATI HD 3870 X2 if you want. Also the motherboard can be upgrade with a 3.0 ghz processor later. And 4 gigs of HyperX ram is plenty. I didn't go with a 1TB hard drive because massive hard drives have bad quality control right. Plus I went Western Digital because most of the other hard drive brands have much higher failure rates. Thermaltake 750 watt because 750 will be enough, and the powersupply is over 80% efficent and thermaltake has nice no extra cost warranty on their products.

If you need otherstuff, I suggest a new case, I would have to adjust the other stuff a little. Please respond if you need monitor, case, keyboard, speakers, etc....

Suggestion: Being that you don't know what's good and you think Intel and Nvidia are the best, you better cough up more dough. Those computer specs are hard to beat for the money. You would need at least 2500+... I would suggest this case if you are a hardcore gamer...

LIAN LI PC-P80 Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112159

But you can only get that if your going for the AMD ATI stuff... plus the newest video cards out for Nvidia are not SLI supported. I hope their next set is.

This link has a youtube video review for the case. It's worth watching even if you don't want the case.

is this cpu and motherboard good for a gaming computer?

Q. i need to make a good gaming computer. money is not a factor. i was looking at this:http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3854632&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs . is it good. or can someone find me anything better? it has to be from tigerdirect.ca . thanks.

A. Yes, that is an amazing combo, if you wanted to go more extreme you could get the 3.33GHz version of that cpu, which can only be beaten by the faster quad cores. You don't need to buy the 790i unless you really want the ddr3 and stuff. either way the computer you are building will be a extremely fast computer.

How can I make a Gaming Computer look like a PC computer?
Q. I want a gaming computer, my parents have the money but they just dont like the fact that sometimes i want to play games.. So how can i trick my dad into thinking a gaming computer is good for my studies??

A. Gaming computer is not much different from regular computer, most of the times only video card is much better, but some components may be different too but hard to see that from the first sight. For example motherboards are more advanced, RAM is faster, PSU is bigger, there may be an aftermarket cooler and so on. Computer case for gaming computer not only looks cool it also provides much better cooling required for all that heat generated, case - is what can give away gaming PC to your parents.
Just pick any computer you like with good video card, if parents ask why you need say video card helps video processing/converting (it's true) and so you can do some video projects. You need case with good cooling for that too, that's why it looks so awesome :-)

For my gaming computer what should i spend the most money on?

Q. So im building a gaming computer and i want to save as much money as I can. I just want to know what I should spend the most money on. Should I buy and good video card and motherboard, or good motherboard and cpu, or cpu and memory, etc. Please help?

A. Graphics card. Always focus on CPU and GPU - make sure your CPU isn't bottlenecking your GPU.

Don't listen to that asshole below me. An unused RAM is a waste RAM. So don't waste your money on too many RAM like 16-32GB. It's ridiculous. Just get any 8GB (2x 4GB) 1600MHz CL9 memory will do.

What parts should I buy for my gaming computer?
Q. I want to make my own gaming computer, but I would also like to save some money. The most I would want to pay for a computer would be $800. The point is, can anyone give me a good price and performance build for a desktop gaming computer? I plan to use my current monitor, keyboard, and mouse to save some more money. If the parts you suggest are incompatible with certain keyboards, monitors, or mouses please tell me. (I wouldn't know why)

A. Just look at Best Buy for a gaming computer for that price. Some of the deals are amazing.

Is a 500GB harddrive good enough for a gaming computer?

Q. So im building a gaming computer and want to save as much money as I can. I just wanted to know if 500GB was enough storage for basic gaming (steam games, maybe some minecraft, and a little bit of internet surfing). Also I plan on putting Windows 7 home premium 32-bit and some other anti-virus stuff. Just wanted to know if its enough/ not enough, or if I could save some cash and buy a smaller one.

A. ive got 2tb and its almost full. games take up alot of room (not to mention my anime collection...)

Can i get a brand new gaming computer anywhere and pay a certain amount of money a month?
Q. so basically i dont have enough money for a gaming computer but i would like on soonish, so i was wondering if i could buy one and pay it off a certain amount of money a month.

A. You could always try cloud gaming. As long as you have a decent internet connection speed, you could play extremely demanding games on a weak computer. Basically you are playing on another computer which is streaming to your computer. Fun stuff. Depending on the membership blah blah blah it could be a monthly subscription. A famous example would be onlive.

If you really wanted an actual computer, you could always buy a retail computer and choose to pay off a certain percentage of the price monthly. Most stores and what-not offer this payment method. However, the total cost is usually higher than if you just pay once, iz bizznuss stuff.

Now if you want to RENT computers, it really depends on where you live. If you happen to live in South Korea, you could always go do "PC Bangs" and basically rent a gaming PC on the spot. However, computer renting where you can just take a computer away is rare, since how do they make sure you don't just take it and leave and never return it?

How to best gaming computer put together byself?

Q. Hey I wanted to know what computer components I could buy and install in a new computer to have one of the highest end gaming computers. Money is not an obstacle. A cool case and guide to putting them in would be nice.

A. I am always amazed to see people trying to put heaps of RAM on a computer to increase performance.
Read the article in the below link

What parts do I need for a gaming computer?
Q. I'm looking to buy a gaming computer. My money range is $0-$1200 and I want my gaming computer to play most games on max settings and those newer titles such as Battle Field 3 on normal/medium at least.I heard building your own computer is cheaper but I don't know anything about computers. Could someone please help and list good video cards, processors etc. and where to get them. Or you could just put a good pc for a reasonable price. Also can you put the links in your answers.

Logitech Wireless Combo MK260 920-002950 Black 8 Function Keys USB RF Wireless Standard Keyboard and Mouse - $27

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM - $100

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 - $34

ALTEC LANSING BXR1221 15 Watts RMS 2.1 Speaker System - $30

TOTAL :$1200 ($1150 after rebate), this is the best COMPLETE BUILD that I could give you for that price, it is well balanced and it already comes with an aftermarket cooler and speakers. The monitor is 1080p and with the GTX 560 ti 448 cores you could play all games on max settings on 1080p with good FPS.

The GTX 560 ti 448 cores is a DOWNGRADED GTX 570 thus it is only slightly slower than the gtx 570:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/499?vs=306

BTW, the motherboard that I have provided is SLI ready that is why I have given you the 850w Corsair PSU that is capable enough to support 2 GTX 560 ti 448 cores in SLI on a high end system with overclocking.

And since the GTX 560 ti 448 cores has the same power requirement as that of the GTX 570, then it will be our basis of how much power is needed in SLI:

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 570

On your average system the card requires you to have a 600 Watt power supply unit.

GeForce GTX 570 in 2-way SLI

A second card requires you to add another ~225 Watts. You need a 750+ Watt power supply unit if you use it in a high-end system (800+ to a KiloWatt is recommended if you plan on any overclocking).

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-570-sli-review/13

So, basically, what I have given you is still upgradeable to SLI and you could still add an SSD (120 gb is good, but this is only optional). =D

Parts and prices came from newegg.com
