Q. I am looking for a headset that will last me a few years and that has a microphone. I would be using it to talk to my friends while gaming. Some of the games I would be playing are Minecraft, Gary's mod, and other games like that. I have already thought about buying the Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha USB Gaming Headset, because I can find them relatively cheap, and they come with a sound card. I am using a dell inspiron N7110 so obviously the headset would have to be compatible with the driver inside my computer. My budget is $50 excluding shipping, but for shipping I would prefer it to be relatively cheap, as in, maybe under $6?

If your budget is around $50, then I'd definitely recommend either Steelseries or plantronics.
They both make excellent midrange models, and the V2 is arguably the best in its price range. Surround sound is solid, and the condenser mic has surprisingly good noise cancellation.

Q. He asked for a headset. He plays a lot of computer games but mainly Starcraft 2. I don't want to get him a lousy one, but not one that costs a fortune either. What are some good ones that don't cost too much?

Im not 100% sure its the newest one but i use it and at Dreamhack(huuuge lan) had thouse an its very common in general, my reccomendation.
Edit: thouse in the link is probably not worth getting yet razor make good products , just dont get a starcraft headset and pay 60$ for an icon...
