Q. I'm in high school but the question isn't for me,my little brother is interested in this field,but I'm not in to the computer stuff so i wouldn't know if there is a class relating to this stuff
A. at my school we have computer tech. and that's pretty much what they do. websites, games. i sometimes hang out in there to pass the time and watch what people do. i never thought it'd be that interesting, but some of it actually is. haha.
Computer game design career questions?
Q. I am looking into becoming a computer game designer. I have not done a lot of research but know a few things about it. Anyone who can answer any of my questions, its greatly appreciated.
1. Basically, what does a computer game designer do, is it adding colour and making games realistic?
2. Roughly, is much money made from been in this career?
3. Which operating system is used, i assume mac?
4. Will i need capable computer systems of my own to be able to work in this industry?

A. Design can be anything. I have a friend from grade school who designs the systems that play music during games. He wanted to *write* the music but, ended up designing the players. You may also be interested to know that he was valedictorian of my high school and a Yale Graduate.
Designers might work on the behind the scenes mechanics/rules of the game.
Money wise, he makes enough to live comfortably in California. I'm guessing $60K or more.
Mac? No. There are specific, and expensive, design systems specifically made for game design.
Your employer will provide you the hardware since most people couldn't afford it.
There is no shortage of college level game design schools. Google them and give them a call.
