I need help with my Wizard101 game, Error 123?

Q. I have played Wizard101 numerous times before, it always loaded up within 1-3 minutes, 5 at most and I could play for hours non stop. Recently (as in a few months) the game has been acting up on me: it would load for 30 minutes then show the error screen. I have tried everything, it just won't work. I've tried to play Wizard101 on 3 laptops and 2 Desktop computers. It works fine if I play at my friends house.
Should I contact KingsIle? Thank you.

A. Update: 5/25/2011

We've recently been made aware of an issue that is affecting some of our customers. While trying to load the content for the game the required files will fail to download and then you will not be able to enter the game and will receive the Error 123. **

While we work on a permanent solution tentatively scheduled for our next major publish we've found that there are 2 possible solutions that have worked for customers. We welcome you to try both of them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part A

First, click here https://www.wizard101.com/patchClient/test. If the page loads and you see "Test OK!" but are still not able to enter the game due to the error move on to Part B of this article. If you clicked the link above and get any other page error then you may have a firewall or antivirus program that is restricting the patcher from access the server.

You should review your firewall software's exception list and make sure that the following files are added to it.

WizardLauncher.exe is located in this directory:
C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101\PatchClient\BankA\

WizardLauncher.exe is located in this directory:
C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101\PatchClient\BankB\

WizardGraphicalClient.exe is located in this directory:
C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101\Bin

ProgramData may be "Program Files" depending on your version of Windows.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part B

If the above troubleshooting does not work, then we recommend a complete reinstall of the game. Please uninstall, reboot, redownload and reinstall before attempting to log into the game again. It is important that you NOT see the NPC housing vendor after completing this step as it may cause the error to return.

If you are running Windows 7 or Vista, you may want to run the client as an Administrator as well. Right click on the desktop shortcut and pick "Run As Administrator". (The game will launch normally afterwards after this first time)

For Advanced users only:

To save you some time redownloading, you can try the following. Before uninstalling make a copy of your GameData folder and delete the offending file(s) from it. It will either be called Housing-Mooshu-MS_Tier1_Exterior_Preview.wad or Housing_CL-CL-House_CL_Tier02_A_Outside_Preview.wad. Then uninstall the game and reboot. Redownload the game and install it however, before you run the patcher place the copy of the GameData folder back into its original location and patch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, if you continue to have trouble we'll need you to send us both your WizardLauncher logs directly after getting the error. You can find out how to locate and send those two files to us by watching this HelpCast: http://youtu.be/-1nlrbQ9DHU

** Some customers report that they visited the housing NPC in Celestia and previewed either the Celestial Observatory or the Mooshu Tranquil Cottage. Until this issue is resolved in a future update we recommend not doing this at this time.

This has been happening to many users so don't worry! Good luck!

Can a $700 gaming computer run 2011 games and below?
Q. I was gonna go to my local PC shop and try to set up a computer for $700 bucks, for pure gaming. I was wondering what year of games I would be able to run with a $700 computer built specifically for gaming.

A. Depends if you want to play on maxed settings or if you are ok with running low or med settings.

$700 you can run 2011 games but most likely on low.

Monitor ~ $100
Windows 7 ~ $90
Mobo ~ $75
CPU ~ $150
Hard Drive ~ $50
PSU ~ $50
GPU ~ $100
Memory ~ $50
Case ~ $50
Tax ~ $75

This is approximate values for low-end parts. $700 won't get you very far with a gaming computer. I suggest investing at least $1000. Also I suggest ordering from Newegg.com than going to a computer store such as Microcenter. Can find the same parts for cheaper and free shipping. Good luck on your build.
