A. Well, you can get more specs for less money if you build your own computer, and it's relatively easy to build as long as you make sure all the components fit and are compatible with each other. However, the Asus you mentioned is an excellent gaming laptop, and you can easily play all of today's top games, including graphically intense ones like Total War on it. From what I remember it received excellent reviews. It isn't however very mobile which kind of beats the purpose of a laptop.

In the end if you want to do more than just play games and are at least a little tech savvy you should build a desktop, but if you want something ready made you can pick up from Best Buy I would reccomend the Asus

What headphones are good for computer gaming?
Q. Optional: Why?

A. the razer tiamat's are a good entry pair of gaming headphones. it should help you test out whether you prefer positional audio setups (surround sound) or high fidelity stereo (don't be fooled, top of the line stereo headsets will outperform nearly every "gaming" equivalent).

The tiamat has a great condenser and the noise cancelling mic is superb. A con is it's not made for people with big ears. The mmx 300 has an incredible soundstage, and is one of the premiere "gaming" headsets that actually lives up to its word. much more expensive tho. check out sennheiser too.

read reviews and get informed as possible before buying. good luck!
