Yahoo Answers?

Q. Why did you first start using Answers?
I had to ask some questions for my dad about our car, then kept coming up with stuff and got hooked on it.

A. I heard that Google had dropped their Answers feature and that Yahoo had one. I was curious and checked it out. I think its great! I would rather be on yahoo answers than play video games. I try to help with what I can and I have had great success with it in researching almost anything. Occasionally I cant resist a dig or sarcasm but I enjoy car problems, computer hardware, sports, anything but the ridiculous relationship category. Thats just weird!

Which one of these gaming computers should I get?
Q. I want to get a decent gaming computer that will play any game. I can either get a Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 now, or wait until Christmas to get an Alienware M17x. Is it worth the wait, or will the Lenovo be fine for me?

A. Ignore the comments that blindly tell you to go with the Alienware. Utterly unhelpful and uninformative answers like that are unacceptable here on Yahoo Answers: Laptops and Notebooks.

If you are looking at buying the Alienware M17x, you need to keep the following in mind:
- Upgrade to the 1920x1080 display. You should not buy the Alienware M17x in any configuration that includes the default 1600x900 display regardless of your budget or other planned upgrades, unless you require its larger text for eyesight-related reasons. 1600x900 resolution in a 17.3" display makes things onscreen large, and 17.3" displays that have 1600x900 resolution tend to be low-grade LCD panels that have very poor image quality due to low contrast.
- Take into consideration all the GPU options. The stock GTX 660M is available in much less expensive laptops and also isn't very much faster than a GT 650M, the Radeon 7970M has the best price to performance ratio but you may want to read up on Enduro driver issues, the GTX 675M is more expensive than the 7970M but slower, and the GTX 680M is slightly faster than the Radeon 7970M without the same driver issues.

Importantly: Keep in mind that the stock GTX 660M in the Alienware M17x is the same GPU that is offered in the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580.

If you are going to buy the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580, follow this guide:

**Lenovo IdeaPad Y580** (i7-3610QM, NVIDIA GTX 660M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - **$939 + tax**

- http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/barnesnoblegold/StdAffinityPortal/en_US/config.workflow:ConfigureMtmAsItem?mtm-item=:000001C9:00003943: (i7-3610QM, GTX 660M, 15.6" 1920x1080, 1TB 5400RPM + 32GB SSD for hybrid cache) - $1029
- These models come with the 1920x1080 display. There are other models that come instead with a 1366x768 display, but those models are not recommended unless you need the larger text. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.
- Click the green "Activate eCoupon" button in the cart.
- Note: the GTX 660M is not significantly faster than the GT 650M.
