Where can I get a good gaming computer for under $1000?

Q. I'm looking for a good gaming computer under $1000

I really want it to have:

i7 Processor
6GB RAM and up
and a good graphics card.

A. i7 for $1000, I wish.
If you did find something the rest of the bits around the i7 would be cheap junk.
Better to get a well balanced system, latest review I trust (maybe) below, and the second from march.
You may have a chance @ $1000 if you go i5-750.

How much would a good gaming computer cost?
Q. To make a long story short, I already have a good Dell laptop for school and such, but I'm looking for a fast gaming computer for games such as The Sims, etc. What price range would I be looking at for a computer and a monitor? (Please note that I don't speak 'computer' and I am very easily confused with technology talk)!
Thank you soo much for all of the answers I have received, but there is no way in hell I could ever build my own computer. Ever.

A. Well then the options some of these guys will spew at you will be greek I take it? fine I won't say "Bild your own" or the one oyu build"

I will tell you that this web site

http://www.newegg.com is where all of us nerdy geak guys go for great computer parts at the best possible prices.

Now for you, this is alos a great place to go for Great computers at the absolute best prices. on the average about $300-$600 cheaper than bestbuy or Dell.

I will give yo three price ranges and have links for computers in those price ranges. I won't give oyu monitor prices because I don't know how large of a monitor oyu are afte, nor do I know what you want to pay for one. but a good monitor that is 22 in will run oyu about $200 extra. so keap that in mind and yes, you CAN buy one at newegg.

So, here's the best gaming computers between $600 and $750.

And this one is the best out of that group for $750. Also it is the best one under $1000

Not a bad choice if you are on a budget.

This group is a step up. these computers are at or around $1000

And this is the best one for that catagory

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229083

And these are some of the higher end computers at about $2300, probably a little over kill for what you want.

I would suggest the first one that was $750 because it has what you will want, a good proccessor, plenty of ram (memory) a big hard drive (storage) and of course a good Graphics card (for games)

I hope this helps

EDIT: hey Matdud, hate to break it to you but alienware isn't what it used to be. they got bought out by dell about a two years ago and since then have given much less for the money. stay clear form "name brands" all that matters is the parts anyways. they all come with the same warrenties
